It definitely is but IMO the jumping off the building scene in the first Lethal Weapon movie tops that one. That movie came out one year prior to Die Hard and that scene doesn't take itself too seriously and in a way it has a mix of comedic and serious elements to it instead of being 100% serious because at the end of the day they both make safe landing and are still alive.

I remember Alan Rickman from this time early late 80s/90s like yesterday. He looked like a young rock star. Hard to believe he gone, he’d be nearly 80 years old now if alive, RIP

It’s crazy to think he made it to Hollywood with Die Hard around the age of 42 and went on to have a great career with the Harry Potter films,Robin Hood,Sense & Sensibility and many many more

It is impressive that his first movie role is this iconic lead villain. He was amazing. Willis of course became a superstar & was great but rickman just captivates every scene he's in

And the take they used was the one where they released him a little before the agreed upon cue, just to get that extra terror on his face, according to the behind the scenes material. The first time I saw him not as a villian after many times seeing Die Hard and Robin Hood was so trippy, to finally see him in a funny part and later on in interviews. He was a great actor and person shame that it is already past tense! :(

What’s amazing is Alan said his fall was 40 feet straight down onto an airbag. Watching the movie it really looks like he’s falling from 32 stories up. I don’t know if it’s the camera angles or what but it’s amazing how they can make things like this in movies look so believable and real life like. R.I.P. Alan Rickman ❤️❤️❤️😢😢

There is a good reason for that fear , the stunt coordinator told Alan he would drop him on the count of 3 , and let him go on 1.
So the suprise on his face is legit.
