You don't buy it for it's looks. You buy it because you need a beast. If you live in West London you buy an X5 or Cayenne or Q7 because you care what other people think. If you live on a farm or in the desert you buy a Land Cruiser because you don't care what other people think. It gets the job done, no questions, no frills.

Obviously, the people commenting have never been to the Australian outback. Try taking some of those British and European faux 4x4s and you will have a long walk home. Toyota is the one.

The real value of these cars you see when you resell them after 8 years! And then you see that reliability pays off! And for me a Landcruiser isn't a real SUV it is much more!!

I'm from a small island nation in the South Pacific called Fiji, Northeast of Australia... And this giant is a ruler on our roads! Most Government Ministries uses it due to it capability!!
There is a lever on the middle row tilt and slide seat Matt! You don’t need to reach over to the back of the middle seat for the release lever. It’s located at hip level and very obvious when you open the passenger side rear door.The one you pulled was for someone sitting in the third row to pull in order to exit the car if there was no one sitting in the middle row…
I have the Lexus version of this. I actually wanted a full size Land Cruiser V8, but it was almost 85K for the same level of equipment. It's an amazing vehicle nevertheless. I recently switched from driving Infiniti and Nissan SUVs, and I must say, Toyota is making some really nice products nowadays.

New Jeep Cherokee looks like Fiat Strada (80's) not the grille but the whole design. That's why it is actually Jeep Aztek.
long term owner: 1 reliability and low cost of maintenance first. 2.aftermarket modification, lifting 2 or 3 inch and KO2 , PRADO is value for money not for show off
Pretty much our 4Runner (same platform and body of a Lexus GX460), ours is even bigger, and the Lexus version is just insane.

Have a real sweet spot Land Cruiser Prados and Utes. Used them as run abouts working in the mines in Western Australia over the last few years having driven thousands of kms on unsealed roads I can happily say they are very capable off-road in comparison to lots of the competition and very reliable. Admit they are a bit of a bus on the road but there is plenty of room for 5 adults inside with steel capped boots, hard hats and all. Not really sure why you would want one in the UK though...

Dad has put 140k miles on this and runs fine. Very reliable
I actually like it when the middle seat is smaller than the side seats in the 2nd row, because then the front seats and the 2nd row side seats are aligned which makes leg room that much more usable since your legs can be straight instead of offset to one side

I think the looks good ( tough ) its nice to be different from other people and drive something that u not gonna see at every red light
Some people say that its ugly. But personal taste is personal taste. I think its beautiful. And if i had to choose between LR Discovery, Merc GL (GLS), Q7 or Land Cruiser, i would choose Land Cruiser. Why? Well, i want a car that i can take to some unpaved roads and dont worry about it too much. I want a car that is built tough and is reliable. If i ever want to go on a journey of 1000-1500 KM, i want it to be trouble free. Yes, RR Sport looks nice, but its 30-40% more expensive and it breaks down every month, GLS is also a lot more expensive and it has 0 off road stats against the LC. Q7 is not that high, so off road is a no go. And even Porsche is not made for anything else but asphalt. Not to mention double the price. To be realistic, in Europe, for the price of Land Cruiser you cant buy any other capable off road car that is full equiped like Toyota. The brand new one is 75k full. No other comes close.

I got same model as shown in this video (3 litre diesel without crawl control) but sadly in my country we have 3 year warranty or 100.000 km on car. But price in UK is enormous 50k pounds is roughly 75k $ and i got mine brand new 2015 from toyota for 60k $. And oh man as i was configuring Prado on UK toyota website there was same color as mine White Pearl for 900 pounds and here i got same color for 300$
It's one of the best off roaders ever & very reliable that's why the UN use them enough said

Euros think it's ugly. It really isn't. It just isn't over-styled like some euro cars. However, it is built for ruggedness and reliability - i.e. something that Euros are still trying to get right. If you want reliability in all terrains and all conditions, this is certainly the car for you. It's just a solid vehicle

For people saying its ugly, this is not a show car car it is purpose built for off roading. There is the Land Cruiser V8 or the Range Rover for those who want off roading ability and flair.
I love Landcruiser models, but I'm always uncomfortable with the price when sold in East Africa. The same car sold in Europe can be sold in E. Africa thrice the price!
I really don't know the reason, I however like driving Land cruisers of all ages.

It's heavy around 2.3 tons
This is the proper offroader unlike some luxury SUVs which are never supposed to leave Tarmac and outside ring roads of cities. If you are in outback, desert or in colombian jungle to your hide out then yu would want reliable and dependable luxury NOT other good looking don't take any where off raod SUVs.

The petrol engine its very good. And in the vx model you can get a lot of things like off road camera and suspension adjustment live it... Don't change Toyota prado

Of the big 4x4's I'd own this over any Euro one with reliability as the reason, but man, I'd have to be desperate or have an exact need to buy something so expensive and ugly!

My nephew has just bought a 51 plate 150,000 mile land cruiser. I am not sure that it would be a wise buy for many other makes. Even in new vehicles they are sluggish for a vehicle likely to cost £40K plus

Do you know how much this cost for a 2011 model (recond) in Malaysia? around 70-80k pounds :) For a Lexus LX570, 2012 model, almost same price as a brand new 2014 Range Rover, yes a Range Rover! Or 160-170k pounds

Not really a big fan of Toyota to be honest. Seems to me, minus the integrated fridge, there is precious little difference between this and my 52 plate Land Rover Discovery. Does all the off-road you need it to do and it has reasonable performance on road. Most likely better off with a newer Discovery.
To be honest though, when we change we are looking at a Volkswagon Amarok which is far more suitable for agricultural purposes than this. New Discoveries are far too expensive, even second hand. Though saying that, I would prefer a Discovery.

In europe the real land cruiser is sold as the "land cruiser V8" available only with top specs, but starts at 70-80k euros it's more of a luxurious vehicle.
this one in the middle east (and america i guess) it's sold as prado, and in europe just as land cruiser, costs less than the land cruiser v8 but it's still costly, and very ugly i don't think they will sell many of these since there's not much need of offroading capabilities in europe.

I actually like the Prado. Good thing Toyota is sticking to a real 4x4 chasis/SUV, unlike Nissan that converted the Pathfinder from a SUV to a crossover.

This is a proper 4x4, not a lightweight SUV. It won't suit the urban environment as well but it is much better in remote areas and proper off-road. Outback Australia has plenty of these. It is much more important how it goes than how it looks.
