Thanks bro..Yeah the 20/46 just cant hold up even with hardened gears.. gonna try 20/50 of not 18/50 but would really like to run the 20 pinion. Makes a hell of a difference. The punch 5 is just brutal too 🤣🤣🤣
@@KingsRC 50/20 is by far my favorite. But honestly I only get about 3-4 packs on it before this happens. And always the pinion chewed all the way up and the spur looking good until you see the missing teeth. 50/18 and I went back to traxxas 6700mah batteries to decrease the power and the constant wheelies. Lol

Kings RC I hear ya there. Everything is out of stock anymore. I just installed a hardened 50t with a hardened 19t yesterday. Still factory esc. Waiting on a shock shaft after a incident with dead batteries in my transmitter. (Spoiler runaway !!!). It hurt!!!!

Or did you only run the MAX6 with the new high speed gearing? Just curious, as I have been contemplating getting the MAX6 too, but also maybe just changing the gearing with the stock ESC.
Thanks man.. the max 6 just feels a lot better response compared to stock even with same gearing, your xmaxx won't want to backflip on reverse each time.. also improves control at slower speed.. u could just change the stock gearing first and see how you like it? Or until the stock esc breaks down then get the max 6? Main reason i got the max 6 myself is the ability to program it, e.g punch control, brake force etc and it woke up the xmaxx for sure!, sucks the stock esc cant be programmed. Hope this helps

Good for speed runs but stock is better to put in trainng mode and save your Xmaxx from repairs.....all of my RCs are slowed down so they'll last...my oldest RC is 32 years old, still runs
Totally worth it bro.. does have some minor issues (nothing is perfect) but once you get it dialled in its awesome.. much cheaper to maintain the xmaxx compared to say the outcast or kraton 8s 👍
I just did a max 5 800kv swap into my xmaxx holy cow man it'll blow your mind how much power it has if you like the 1/8 scale trucks get a xmaxx and do a big can swap it can do standing backflips like a 6s notorious or something its insane

Nice run bro despite all it moves...swiftly, what i did was slap some drywall tape over the fan, or if you have any finer mesh that can stop stuff from wrecking fan blades.

@@KingsRC Hm, at first thought i would say, how in the h*ll could that happen? But then again, impacts can kill anything from esc, servo and what not that dont really have any moving parts, atleast not at those speeds as a fanblade. But i had a dust cover as well, but small pebbles would find their way in anyway and wreck the blades until i put on that mesh as well, double security so to speak. It´s not 100% still but far lesser chance something bigger will get in there and take a piss on your day :)
Yes not the best surface for RC bodies LOL What I do is keep a seperate body dedicated for street runs so you can always have that offroad body looking nice for presentation when needed LOL Great run

Max 6 atmax punch will kill the traxxas gears, you def need hardened gears. If you dont have hardened gears then you should maybe go punch 3 or as close to stock ESC as possible till you get the gears. Also its worth chnging the Fan in the Max 6 ESC. not expensive to get superior fans. Max 6 G2 is out now, 200Amps as opposed to 160 Amps which is in the Max 6 on this video. Its now comparable to a max 5 but with a max 6 size.

@@KingsRC no unfortunately they don’t make RR Spurs for the Xmaxx, I’m runnin a RR pinion and a Hot racing spur. They work very well together! 20/50 gearing stays cool and has plenty of power!
Traxxas gears are rubbish. I have the same problem when i installed the 18/46 gear and the pinion and spur gear were broken as well. You have to update your gear for example like hot racing gear,.... so the problem is stop

The best pinion I have found is the Tekno pinion for this truck. It has a larger set screw and you can get that extra umph to keep it on there

ive got the same colour xmaxx and im just encountering the pinion falling off issue myself everytime i run the bugger
Use alot of red loctite bro even put some in the pinion bore itself, so like it fuses to the shaft. And leave it overnight, hope this helps bro
