I'm not sure if you figured this out yet but you don't have to pull the skid plate from the under side of the xmaxx to get the upper tray out of the truck. The skid plate has 4 holes in it that allow you to put your hex key (allen wrench) through the skid plate to access those 4 bolts that hold it from the underside. i just thought i'd share this info with you incase you didn't know it. Happy bashing!
Nice vid. I upgraded mine this year after hearing about how much better the max6 is over stock. I didn’t find it to be much different in power but acceleration and braking seem more linear and more controllable.
Traxxas battery warranty is awesome tho. They traded in mine for half of what I bought them for. And, I accidentally ruined them by leaving them hooked up to my truck.
i used traxxas when i first got back into rc cars 5 yrs like 4yrs ago i got rid of all traxxas batterys and went to powerhobby batterys they also have good service if one has a dead cell
Thanks for the video was debating on running the max 6 esc or the max 5 and pair it with the stick motor. My buddy did the max 5 with stock motor and it was way way too much punch. Ordered my max 6.
My MAX6 has been bulletproof so far. I’ve drowned the truck and put in under insane heat. No problems. The odds or getting an unlucky one are unlikely, but it can still happen.
I run the Arrma 160 pretty much the same as a maxx6 and love it 46:23 and wow she ripps but I have a maxx5 in my k8 I mite drop in in worried it’s to much what’s y’all’s thoughts
MAX5 in the XMaxx without some serious mods may be a lil bit overkill/kills the XMaxx in general. If you don’t have an aftermarket motor and motor mount I’d get that and probably upgrade diffs to an aftermarket splined diff as well as putting some thicker fluid in all the diffs.
Is there some type of adapter to go from the hobbywing battery wires to the traxxas batteries. When I got my x maxx 8s, i got the traxxas batteries, not knowing any better. But i wanna run them till they die, then get different ones.

Hello Josh, I saw that you are running duratrax six pack x on your xmaxx and I was wondering if you had to do anything with the wheels to get them on the stock hubs of the xmaxx because I am thinking of getting them.
No, they fit perfectly with NO trimming. Duratrax makes a set for the Kraton 8s but they say Kraton 8s on the packaging. Make sure you get the regular Duratrax Six Pack X. They are great tires, and you should definitely get them. I’ve got some videos on them and every video after those I’m running the Six Pack X.

How could it go much faster with just an ESC change? [Disclaimer: I forwarded thru the video. Dont know if you changed a gear as well] ESCs just deliver the available power from a battery to a load. It cant create more amperage than the battery has to give.
I’m guessing it had to do with the batteries I used and less with the ESC. The PowerHobby lipos I used in the video delivered more volts than the previous Traxxas lipos I used to use. HobbyWing does time their motors tho (which is variable in HW programming) which allows for more or less motor RPM. Don’t ask me how it works because I have no idea when it gets that deep lol. Thanks for watching!
I would assume that you wouldn’t be able to with the standard red Traxxas connector. You could soldier on the Traxxas red connector to the fan plug on the HobbyWing to make it work though.
