Just had the trx-4m defender bought for my birthday prezzi. It was fantastic straight out of the box. In anticipation of me getting it, I already my a rather hefty purchase of injora upgrades from Ali Express. In all, the car plus all the upgrades came to about £600. Money well spent if you ask me.😘
Don't forget the servo... I added a ton of weight to mine and the crawler gears... and first 5 minutes of driving on some rock's stripped the plastic gears in the servo..
200£ is just the beginning… TRX-4M is a huge money pit, mainly because of its 3 serious flaws: 1. Torque twist 2. Binding at full steering lock 3. Plastic everywhere. For long term durability and maximized potential, you need out of the box: - bearings - steel gearing everywhere (especially in the servo) - steel drive shafts - at least aluminum/steel transmission undertray (metal screws on plastic body is a disaster - steel/aluminum suspension links - oil filled aluminum shocks - beadlock wheels (stock rims spin inside the tire) - metal axles and servo link - bigger wheels - brass parts lowdown for lower center of gravity-> less rollover All these, considering the 50% success rate at Injora and Meus*parts, raises the cost to levels of TWO BRAND NEW TRX4 models. *the latest addition to my F150 was the front isokinetic axle. Although it did FINALLY solve the binding issue, I had to replace the shaft gears, some of its bearings and relocate servo, in order not to limit the suspension travel. And it does not even come close to the promised steering angles
Good to see the good folks at Rochester RC getting some exposure, and sponsoring this. Such a nice bunch, and really helpful. This little thing is great, and I kinda wish it had been about when I got my SCX24, as I would have bought the bigger car. Has anyone started making anti foams to fit these smaller tyres? 👍🏻
Nice video Gav, if you can get the low range gearbox it’s awesome , it dii out as kill the speed a bit, but for the size of the truck it makes it an unstoppable rig also the wheel weights that go in the tyres really help. I didn’t go for bearings in mine but I’ve used mine in water etc so I didnt want a load of seized bearings ;) swings abs round about . Enjoy it, it’s a great truck plus it’s a Landy ;)
Nice vid Gavin, your getting good at this Tube lark. :) Can you upgrade the shocks? I would do that next. Not bothered about the tyres / inserts, flat tyres give more grip anyways IMHO.
Hi Gavin, I agree the bearing kit is a big improvement. I got the Traxxas bearings which are expensive. You can now find cheaper options for bearings. I also got all of the Traxxas metal options for my Bronco, but you can find cheaper options for them too. I am going to get a Land Rover body for my Bronco but you need to get the bumpers too or it will not fit. Thoughts?
The defender body is the best choice of the two if you are going to mod it. Fitting an interior is possible and painting up the truck will bring it to life. That’s my plan anyway 👍🏻👍🏻
@@RCKickschannel The defender body I will getting will also be red, just like my Bronco body. I will get both the body and the bumpers for $35.00. That seems to me to be a good deal. Thoughts?
Is the car really worth up the upgrades in all honesty?! No bearing already, come on Traxxas sort your self out and for the money not good imo and no oil shocks either lol maybe I’m being hard as it’s not really my thing in all honesty but each to their own! Super ace video tho 👍
This is my biggest hesitation with the TRX4M. It so easy to end up at the price point of the TRX4 Sport! Now that’s a bit apples and oranges I know but it just doesn’t feel like you are getting the best return on your investment with the TRX4M.

I think an interior would look nice

I would guess someone must be making the foams for these by now. I haven't looked yet but I would be after a set myself.
Good video. Gives me a good starting point on what to order 😀
Rick is been a min!! glad to see you still killing it!! your the reazon im out 5k!!! thank you !!!
Most welcome lol 👍🏻
Great vid. Rather than the brass Axel weights I would go with steel wheels with better tyres and inserts.

In the same breath, You said "YEAH GET OVER IT" 😂😂
;)
Lol I’ve done the same apart from chassis and esc I’ve replaced the lot lol

Great video Gavin . But crazy money tho. Especially the bearing price . Bonkers
Not my thing Gav (although it could be!) Great vid ta.
Traxxas crawlers are amazingly good need to get the new high lift trx4 ford F150 ❤
That looks so cool.
I have a TRX4 but I can't seem to get into the smaller stuff like the TRX4M or Axial SCX24, it does look good though.
It’s fun to play around with inside when the weather is cold and wet outside.

Hi Gavin, any chance you might get a limited edition Losi JRXT mini truck for review? I am not sure how easy they are to get in the UK? Thoughts?
I did have the JRX Mini on the show and I still have it in the collection. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be getting that one this time.
For anyone reading this just skip all the Traxxas overpriced bull crap and check out Injora, they have everything for these trucks
Interior would e awesome 👍🤩🏅
I think so too!
If I were to get one of these it would definitely be the rover, not a fan of the new broncos
Lose not loose. Loose is opposite of tight.
Yeah! Number 1. lol
