- Dublin band DC Nein, 1979. They re-recorded Nightclub and released it as their first single in 1980. Later, they changed their name (and musical style) to the more funktastic Tokyo Olympics. Originally they called themselves DC Nine but a printers' error on their first set of posters gave them a more ambiguous, vaguely Teutonic air and they went with it.
My favorite group of that era ,I have this on a cassette tape of 6 songs
Thank god for dave fanning...great tune..my childhood right there x
Go back Paul..this was and still is class...remember it from The Crofton Hotel...legend
Also, Brian who played bass in the band is busy restoring the Red Tapes. Info will be on the FB page in the near future.
Also got it downloaded to CD
remember them playing students union in ucd and certain shaven headed gents in braces and boots rearranging the furniture and those on it,was it 1979.
Remember them well. Pretty sure I saw them in either McGonagles or The Magnet, or both. Brilliant
If they bring out a follow up to Strange Passions surely this must be included.
I started a Facebook page for DC Nien & Tokyo Olympics. We have accumulated a lot of memories for the lads from the band and fans from back in the day. Here is the link.
I've been looking for DC Nein stuff for jaysus decades now - do you have any more, I'm really looking for the Red Tapes, somebody borrowed my copy and wouldn't give it back, many many years ago. I've a good few The Frames/Venetian Blond stuff if you remember them - the original Frames from Pearse St, not the other lot.
