  • Hello!
    We were at London Kings Cross, when we caught sight of the Grand Central Class 221 Voyager (221 143), it was then that, we knew, we were getting on that train!
    Grand Central have recently leased two Class 221s (142 and 143), which have been operating on Wakefield Kirkgate to London King’s Cross and back.
    Departing at 14.56, this service runs non stop to Newark Northgate, before continuing onto Doncaster, Pontefract Monkhill and Wakefield Kirkgate.
    Interestingly, the 15.03 LNER London King’s Cross to Leeds service, departs 7 minutes after the Grand Central Voyager, but arrives at Wakefield 10 minutes ahead of the Grand Central service.
    This makes it possible to venture out on Both the Class 221 voyager and LNER Intercity 225 from Doncaster to Wakefield Westgate.
    Join us as we travel onboard an ex Avanti West Coast workhorse, as it traverses the East Coast Mainline with Ease!
    Traction/Euipment: Voyager Class 221
    Unit: 221 143
    Route: London King’s Cross - Doncaster
    Journey time: Approx 1 hour 30 Minutes
    Operator: Grand Central
    Class travelled: Standard
    Headcode: 1D73
    Sit Back, relax and enjoy the trip!

    Not the first time a 22x unit has worked the East Coast. Remember Hull Trains with their Pioneer services?

    What's an Avanti Voyager doing with Grand Central?

    • @shihanthetrainspotter
      @shihanthetrainspotter 11 месяцев назад +2

      They have decided to move them to grand central since Avanti west coast are getting new trains I think 2 of these units are with grand central and the rest will go to cross county there is also a chance that the 222s could go to cross county to run along side with the 220s and 221s

    The livery looks great but the trains themselves are. It fit for purpose. Too cramped, insufficient overhead luggage space, only fit for a small handbag! LNER Azuma trains much better and more comfortable.

    • @Scottish_Transport_Explorer
      @Scottish_Transport_Explorer 4 месяца назад

      Seats on the class 221s are definitely more comfortable than the LNER Azuma, however I completely agree with the rest of your comment.
