  • Coverage from a few hours at Marholm. An average day, but with the appearance of Grand Central's newly acquired 221142 with its hybrid GC/ex-Avanti livery making its first appearance, plus ex-EMR 180110 also in service for Grand Central.
    Other highlights include 66781 with the Tonbridge RHTT sets heading off for another leaf-busting season, Class 91s 91107, 91111, 91119 and 91127 in action, Wascosa 66720 on the Goole sand and Biffa 66783 on a Felixstowe-Birch Coppice liner.
    The first couple of clips come from the new Werrington Junction overbridge at Cock Lane, however I was not impressed by the views here, hence making a quick detour to Marholm.
    Filmed with Darren aka MrDeltic15 - a long overdue catch-up.

    Wow I never thought the voyagers would ever get another new home I would love to see them working for GWR I want to see them working London to Carmarthen and Penzance working alongside Class. 80X and HSTs

    The GC livery looks wonderful on the 221. Sad to see them go from the WCML

      Shame the HST fleet is going all together. These 800’s all being built on the cheap. CrossCountry’s HSTs aren’t being replaced either. It’s understandable GC would get a couple of voyagers to keep them going

      @@redgoon698 yes it is but all in all, they are 47 years old. When XC withdraw their HSTs, the only place to see HSTs in revenue earning passenger service will be Scotland

    Lovely stuff, I was on 221142 coming home that day; I was on a later service. I was totally unaware GC had 221's. Its sad about the 180's theyre good trains to travel on and sound amazing but they all need a major overhaul to stand any chance of avoiding the cutter's torch :(

      They've got two on trial as Avanti is withdrawing them to make way for their new IETs..

      @@terrier_productions I read also that it was due to a few of their adelantes as usual ”going nowhere”. Id guess if the problems carry on they may end up taking more voyagers.

      yeah..The 180s really are a troubled class. I've just realised that this will mean that GC will have the only tilting trains on the ECML@@MaterialAmbience

    I’m freinds with a lineside worker near crofton and they said when EMR 810s roll in EMR Will Give Their 222s To Grand Central As The Voyagers Can Only Be Stored At Crofton Due To The Traction Equipment. So It’ll Be 222s Allocated London - Sunderland And Voyagers On London - Bradford. This Is Not Official And May Be Altered.

    Good to catch up with you Chris, it's been a while. I think we had a fairly decent spell there as things go - just edited my movie together this evening. 221142 in its new hybrid livery was a nice surprise. See your shot on the big screen of 66510 I can see why it needed Thunderbird 57010 not too long after!

    I have very little dealings with the 180's as I live in Pendolino country, and even fewer with the 175's but...........considering they are meant to be very similar, what is it about the 180's that make them so much more unreliable? I'm not saying the 175's are much better, I genuinely don't know. But if anyone does know, please let me know.
    Also 221 in GC livery looks very very good indeed.

    Do you know if Grand Central is keeping the tilt function on their 221s? If so, that would mean outstanding ride quality.

    • @eilidhmm
      @eilidhmm Год назад +1

      The tilt system probably won't be removed, but it won't be active since it needs trackside balises to activate, which there are none of on the ecml.
