Stevie has an amazing voice and a mesmerizing stage presence. But for me Lindsey is the musical genius, the fact that he’s still open to return is incredible, he looked so hurt about the firing.
He is talented but he is nothing without Fleetwood Mac. And can't stand that Nicks became waaaaay bigger artist than him. In every interview he always have some " little" poisoned words towards her. He is the bitter, not her.
Stevie saying it was because of his behavior during her speech is total BS because if you actually watch the video, the other members of the band were making fun of her more than he was!
The real truth is... we're not one of them so we'll never really know. It would be difficult to have to be so close to someone you have intense feelings for good or bad . I airways felt that they had agreed to disagree and carry on for the sake of the band, but apparently, Stevie couldn't do that anymore. It feels unfair to Lindsey from my viewpoint. It's too bad bc without him iI wouldn't go see them. It seems that both of them are necessary for the magic to happen. And it sucks that this is the bitter note that ends this phrase. I think she could have done him better, especially after he would only join the band if they took her too. Where's the loyalty?!!
Regardless, they are still one of my favorite bands. Seeing them live is an experience and a great one at that. Still trying to grasp Christine McVeigh passing. 🙏🕊️❤️
Me too. Feel the same. The sudden loss of Christine is devastating to the fans and to the band. There was always a chance of new music, or another tour. But, with Christine now gone, that chance is completely impossible. And as much as I love Stevie, I'm a little annoyed at her reluctance to make herself available to record new music with Fleetwood Mac over the past 10 or so years. True, like she said, people aren't buying albums anymore, but, with Fleetwood Mac, had they all participated together, they really could have put out a new album, with hopefully some fresh, great songs, and that would have been a beautiful thing, and I believe it would have been well received, and an excellent opportunity to tour together one last time. But no, she didn't want to. Instead, she did another solo album and solo tour, while Christine and Lindsey did their own album together, which sadly, went nowhere. And poor Mick and John were starving for work as usual. So, precious time was wasted over the past 10 years, and that's a real shame. So, in looking back, the last proper Fleetwood Mac album was "Say You Will" without Christine McVie, and the final Fleetwood Mac tour in 2018, was without Lindsey Buckingham. And how very sad that is.😢
I'm with you, Christine was my favorite in the band. Hard to believe she's gone. I love her "Songbird "- whenever I listen to it, tears come. Of course, I'm just a fan and only saw them in concert 1 time, but because of my love for Christine and her music , it's like losing a loved one. Fleetwood Mac might carry on but no one can replace Christine McVie.
I want Buckingham’s story I think Nicks has talent but I hated her solo stuff. And Tom Petty wrote her Stop Dragging My Heart Around song, I liked Dreams, silver springs, and landslide but Buckingham produced the album that Fleetwood Mac lived off of forever. He had a lot to do with how those songs turned out. Go Your Own Way is my fav Fleetwood Mac song. Christine McVie said that Stevie would regret what she did. And Fleetwood Mac asked Buckingham to join their band and Lindsay said well will you take Stevie Too? She would not have even been in the band if not for him. I don’t like what she did and I never will.
She's definitely not loyal at all to Lindsay I think that's so wrong on many levels.. I believe she rambles on roo much & is full of herself... On the other hand I enjoy her music with Fleetwood Mac & without it
Funny. I actually prefer her solo--partly because I've never relished the goofy looks her and Buckingham exchange, I think. In any case, she's just as large a draw on her own. Nice of her to respect the band as much as she has.
Stevie carried Lindsey every step of the way. In the lean times, she worked while he stayed home and mooched off of her. In the band, she delivered the big hits and the stage presence. As a solo artist, she has outsold him 100 times over in albums and concert tickets. She finally got tired of the decades of abuse, including the laughable claims that she only excelled because “she came along” with him. In the end, he is overrated. 50 years from now, people will still know who Stevie Nicks was. Lindsey Buckingham will be an asterisk.
For any number of reasons, in many professions, people chose to no longer work alongside other people. They have the right to make those decisions without explanation to anybody else, including the public.
Exactly. Stevie no longer wanted to work with Lindsey therefore SHE should have quit the band. Giving the band an ultimatum and forcing Lindsey out was wrong.
They used that clip of Lindsey Buckingham completely out of context. He wasn't discussing the tour in that clip, he was discussing the relationship he had with Stevie Nicks during the recording of Rumours.
Fleetwood Mac found themselves waiting for Stevie. Granted, she had to cut her debut solo tour short to return to the band to record Mirage, but ever since then, they have had to wait for her. She spent all of 2 weeks in the studio recording Tango In The Night. She was touring and then in rehab at the time. She was the last one on board for The Dance reunion. She was on tour when early recording sessions for Say You Will took place. Then we all waited for a new album to follow that. The Extended Play EP in 2013 being their most recent recorded work. The Lindsey Buckingham Christine McVie duo album happened because Stevie made herself unavailable. An opportunity that can never be presented be again. . Lindsey scrapped his 3rd studio album to return to Fleetwood Mac and produce Tango In The Night. He didn't want to tour then but would have remained an active member had they not carried on without him. Work on Lindsey Buckingham's fourth studio album led to The Dance reunion and was ultimately set aside to record Say You Will. The 2010s were Lindsey's most productive years in terms of recorded output. Stevie toured but didn't release new music for 10 years. Now, she has no desire to record another album due to the change in the music industry as a result of streaming. She didn't want to spend time in the studio recording with Fleetwood Mac, then tour behind the release because of their turbulent history. Ageism is real in the industry now. Younger artists are the priority. It sucks. I wonder if Stevie was allowing the past to dictate her present and future. The lost opportunities. The occasions to sort everything out. I doubt there will be a digital release of the Buckingham Nicks album because of all this. I don't care if the album cover is replaced. There are probably plenty of promotional pictures to choose from that will better represent the album anyway. Please note that Lindsey used a similar style image for the cover of his debut solo album to that of the Buckingham Nicks album. What I know to be true now is if Mick Fleetwood felt Fleetwood Mac was dead in the water during 1993-1994, then the band must have drowned in 2022. ❤ always Christine McVie
Dude, you're amazing. I thought it was only me who truly and obsessively followed this saga so intently. I'm speechless. I wish we could talk. There is no other band I have followed this way. I've been doing it since I was 12 years old and fell in love with goddess Stevie Nicks (Bella Donna era) and the HBO concert she came out with in early 82, which was the Bella Donna concert recorded at the Wilshire Theater in December of 1981. So there began my journey with both Stevie solo and Fleetwood Mac. Naturally because I was very young and there was so much I had yet to hear and learn.... I found myself having to go way back.... 1981, 1979, 1977, 1975.... and therefore educate myself about what came prior. I bought all Stevie and FM albums...and saw several concerts of each....through the 1980's, 1990's the 2000's, 2010's.... and of course up to the present. I'll just say now, it breaks my heart and frustrates the hell out of me...and I will always hold a grudge against Stevie for her behavior toward Lindsey in recent years, who pulled those melodies and poetry out of her brain and crafted amazing hit songs out of them, and then made herself completely unavailable to regroup and record new material. So much precious time was wasted in those last few years. The 2014 On With The Show tour was so beautiful to see them all together for the first time (the 5) in years...and they were fantastic. When Lindsey was suddenly out I supported them anyway and went to see them in L A. during the 2018 tour.... well, not too good an experience or memory for me. Forgettable. Like it never happened. What they needed so much was some new material. For me, the 2003 Say You Will album was a very good effort and contains some very good songs... but Christine was missing. And as far as 2017's Lindsey & Christine collaborative effort, it could have very well been that final (or the next) Fleetwood Mac album, but of course, Stevie had zero interest and instead did her 2017 24 Karat Gold Tour, which I must admit, was very good....and she should have ended her solo career with that. But no, she continues on, sounding not too good, and playing the same set of songs she's been doing for 20 years. And sadly, I have zero interest. I understand the industry has changed, and I'm disgusted and heartbroken over it, and Stevie said nobody buys records/albums anymore (except me!!) but what was desperately needed in the end was some new songs, as the magical mix of Lindsey, Christine & Stevie could NEVER, EVER be duplicated. And now....to me, the biggest nail in the Fleetwood Mac coffin, the completely unexpected passing of Christine, the strong, sane, sensible & supportive one.... now with Christine gone, to me it's all over for good. So yeah, Stevie, I love her, but I'm highly frustrated and disappointed. And Lindsey will probably continue on with his unique but quirky solo albums that nobody buys, Stevie will collapse on stage and die at 82 years old, playing a completely butchered version of Edge Of Seventeen, John will be fishing off the side of his yacht, using his base guitar as an anchor, and poor Mick will be sitting behind a dusty old drum kit...playing with his balls.
You might think 7 years is a brief relationship but its the longest Stevie ever had so I guess its relevant in their lives. Most of all we wouldnt had the music if they'd never got together.
Because of her working and keeping them in food/housing and him in weed, he was able to master is guitar tech. Always drove him crazy that song writing came so easy for Stevie.
@@kyraarchuleta346 Nah, that's another self aggrandizing/mythologizing Stevie Story that Lindsey lets her get away with. They came to LA on a 10k inheritance from Lindsey's aunt and in 6 months got a record deal and according to Keith Olsen got 5k each as an advance for the album based on the demos Lindsey produced (when he was ill for a year living at home with his parents and Stevie) with the equipment he bought. For the album he brought his musicianship & arranging of the songs in addition to his singer/songwriting. He wasn't just lying around playing guitar and smoking weed (that Richard bought - that Stevie also smoked - in an apt they shared with Richard). Keith Olsen said Lindsey was the album's Musical Director - that Olsens' main job as producer was getting him the right musicians to play with. Keith's primary role was main engineer. Pretty much the same as it was in FM until Lindsey learned to engineer then did it all (Tango). Stevie worked odd jobs for extra cash, and still getting money from her parents. How do you think she bought a $110 blouse in 1973 - the equivalent of rent for a month in LA? She didn't have to get a job until Polydor dropped them after Feb 1974. Richard Dashant got her the job at his father's high end restaurant. It was a 3 hr lunch shift / 4 day a week job. (Stevie interview from 1997) Lindsey worked at painting houses and doing session work while they worked on their 2nd album at night with free studio time. . When money got really tight he went on the road with Don Everly for 3 months while she sat in a friends mansion in Aspen for 3 months - not working - feeling jealous - dropping acid - and writing Landslide. Weeks after the tour fell apart Fleetwood asked Lindsey to join FM.
One of my guitar heroes was always Lindsey Buckingham. But I always remember a quote from Jay Leno. "Don't meet your heroes, they'll only disappoint you". I think that would be true in this case. I see Buckingham as arrogant. I'm sure Stevie has her issues as well. It takes two to tango, even with disagreements.
@@gerald9442 I spent my entire childhood with two men; my father and stepfather; who in public seemed like great guys; and in private were demonic. I learned that you can't trust a person's public face; it's a mask.
Multi-millionaires, huge egos, millions of adoring fans, numerous love affairs, endless drug problems. I can't understand why band members don't get along.
@@jonandrew5106 I guess you didn't pick up on my sarcasm. I was implying that they had all that money, success, drugs, huge egos, numerous love affairs- how did they NOT become dysfunctional! Yes, they were just people, but now with all those trappings of success.
@Markb20: Forgot the most important element to drive a wedge of them all. Band Members each and everyone are always at the mercy of the duration and lessening of cresting and drying creativity spells. And that can be downright agonizing in a creativity business.🤔🎤💃🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🥁B.W.
Also Lindsey was hard to play with because he didn’t want to do songs the rest of the band did. We used to have a veto system and you can’t use that often that’s a once in a two year thing. I only used mine once on a song that always cramped my hand lol
Stevie had her own persona..in other spaces...and she was great....But in Fleetwood Mac, imho, it was Lindsey, then Stevie, then the rest..in what ever order you care..my god...second hand news, still sends chills down my spine...and that was the driving song to that album. ..to me..
PSA: Sep. 5, 2023 is the 50th anniversary of 2:01 Buckingham Nicks 1973 Polydor album release. Wishing there was a CD and/or streaming / digital release
Ok my point of view How would you feel if you were in Stevie’s shoes and performing an Acceptance Speech and having one of your band who you dated sang together Fleetwood Mac and shared everything with and so on etc etc and finding out that LB literally was smirking INSTEAD OF FEELING freaking proud of Stevie! This was very low and could tear someone’s heart out for that! Yes I seen the smirking he did I kept rewinding playing rewinding playing video of what I actually was seeing I caught it ! This I believe is why Stevie was extremely upset and hurt? Let’s TALK ABOUT THAT? No one sees this Can you blame Stevie ? I surely DO NOT! it was a band’s decision LB Can’t blame Stevie’s statement him or it’s me. Even if I say IF she stated that? I do not blame her at all! Let’s think about The Speech instead of the band’s falling out issues. And what band doesn’t have their issues??? Everyone does
I think that was just the last straw. She's been putting up with his crap forever. HE is jealous of her because he doesn't respect or understand why she has been so much more successful than he has. He has an inflated sense of importance and FM realized that if the 2019 tour was to sell tickets, they should keep Stevie and dump Lindsey. To her credit, she said she would leave the band if they wanted him, and they chose her because people go to see her, not him. LB is a great guitarist, but that doesn't sell records, or concert tickets.
Facts- Stevie relied on the men in her life to write music to het rambling lyrics and arrange the songs into hits. By her own admission with out Buckingham magic she would not be where she is. Secondly the band were due to your and Nicks refused to, so she could tour with Chrissie Hynde. So Lindsey and Christine the only two still writing new music at the time, recorded and toured together. Lindsey has a contract to deliver a new album and your after it. Stevie knowing Lindsey had contact obligations said she was ready to tour. Lindsey gave them available time frame and they ignored it. Said it’s now or never. While Lindsey was negotiating with his label to delay release of his record and tour until after Mac tour, the label agreed and he sent an email to all of them saying he’d moved his tour and would he touring with them. He received no response from anyone and was in fact cut off by the band. Fleetwood Mac announced a tour and Lindsey got a call from the manager who said, “You are out” apparently you made faces behind Steve’s back so she gave the band an ultimatum. Him or me…so they chose her. The band did a press conference and lied and said Lindsey was fired because he refused to tour. Lindsey then spoke out and sued the band producing emails and evidence. He received a settlement because Stevie didn’t want to go to court. Then the Lindsey is too difficult and refuses to do certain songs. Lindsey got sick of the lies and did this and other interviews. The manager actually backed his version too. Watch that acceptance speech, John and Mick are also making faces. Lindsey at one pint is laughing at John. After it all blew up both Christine and Mick contacted Lindsey and apologised for their parts in the lies. When Lindsey had his heart attack they all caked his wife and Lindsey. Notably Stevie wrote a “heartfelt” note she put on social media, but never actually sent to Lindsey. #fornerTeamStevie #STFUStevie #TeamLindsey4evr
Indeed. Well said. I knew all of that. And it's very sad to me that those last few years were wasted opportunities to at least write and record together again. And as much as I've always loved and supported Stevie over the decades, I hold a resentment toward her for her lousy behavior and her reluctance to make herself available. True, the industry has changed, and the sales and earnings of the 70's, 80' & 90's are gone forever (unless you're Taylor Swift, Beyonce or Justin Bieber... barff!)... But, the truth remains, true artists never stop doing what they do. A writer will always write, and a musician will always play, no matter if they have a paying audience or not. The magic of those three individuals....Christine, Lindsey & Stevie.... could never be found or replicated ever again. And now, with the completely unexpected demise of Christine McVie, the chain and the opportunity is broken...gone forever. Stevie will go on touring and butchering the same set of songs she's been doing for 20+ years, Lindsey will continue putting out brilliant solo work that nobody will ever buy or hear, John McVie will continue fishing off the side of his boat, and poor Mick will be pounding on his drum kit in a small, subterranean, padded room...all by himself.
Your crazy if wasn't for lindsey buckingham she would not be in the band mick just wanted him and he said no you have to take my girlfriend stevie too and they did
Nolan Winter....ignoring the facts? Would she have made it without Lindsey insisting it was both or none ? God knows and tbh since Christine's gone I'm fed up with the 2 sides ...1 slagging Stevie off the other the same to Lindsey.I think I just want to listen to their music till my last breath. Its all ancient history and we will never know the truth because we weren't there.Even books are suspect as there are so many stories about each incident. I'm off to listen to my vinyl of Rumours, have a good one.
I’m so tired of people always mentioning this. Christine wouldn’t have joined the band without her man, either. Fleetwood Mac toured without both Lindsey and Christine. They could’ve NEVER toured without Stevie because she was the star whether people like it or not. It’s already been mentioned, but Stevie was also the ONLY member that had a highly successful solo career.
@@patricksutton3992 totally disagree this isn’t scratch my back I’ll scratch yours They were a couple joined as a couple without having any handcuffs on!
I felt lindsey got a bad rap. I think stevie wanted her way no matter what and used her prima donna status to get it. Lindsey had more talent in the band. More should have been by the other band members to correct the situation. Stevie seems a little immature.
There should be a clause in the contracts that say no musician of the band can date anyone else in the band. It seems like it almost doesn't work out and the band breaks up or it causes a lot of drama and hurt feelings.
Yes Buckingham Nicks they were called I believe most people are not aware of this. Only in my opinion a very dedicated fan for many many many years like myself ❤
The one thing we know is the absolute truth....... We will N E V E R know the absolute truth when it comes them. There are too many secrets that would harm fans and families feelings. .. and their reputations to their fans and families
I'd always assumed that it was because she was jealous of the fact that LB has an immense amount of talent and she was just a little girl with a nice voice who took to liking cake later on.
Stevie was the unhappy member of Fleetwood Mac. She refused to participate in the album the band was making after Christine McVie rejoined the band. That album ultimately became the Lindsey Buckingham / Christine McVie album. Then Stevie got mad at Lindsey in January of 2018. She was the unhappy one she should have just quit the band instead of forcing Lindsey out. She should have quit when she decided not to participate in the album they were making in 2015. I love Stevie's music but she handled this situation the wrong way.
One of my favourite FM moments was when they were playing "Oh Well" & nicks was on stage without a part to play. Lindsey, Christine, John & Mick really went full-on. Nicks flapped around in her bat-cloak doing nowt but squat at the base of Mick's drum set up, & everyone ignoring her. After a minute or two she scuttled off stage, like a cockroach 😅😅
They would be nothing without Stevie. No one bought the album to listen to anyone else. But their egos would not allow them to see this. Name one that did anything close to what she accomplished as a solo artist.
It isn't Fleetwood Mac without Buckingham. It would be better without Stevie. I always prefered Christine McVies singing and her songs over Stevie's anyway. I did like their 1997 The Dance. I recorded it on my VCR and played it a lot. Now that McVie is gone so is the band.
It’s interesting how in the songs they write each expresses ongoing love for the other that the other refuses to accept. They are probably both right, and both difficult people but I think that Lindsay is probably much worse. It’s also I interesting how be it love or hate, that their connection remains so charged after decades, enough that any comments section about the two is guaranteed generate passionate disagreement
Well, they made the right choice. The group wouldn't have made it without Nicks. Great as they are, the rest don't have the presence except, in an odd way, Mick himself but it's hard for a drummer to front (and he's still no Stevie).
I have seen them many ×'s but i like Lindsey very much too and Christine passing away ,those 2 absent there is no Fleetwood mac just Stevie Nicks will have a girls band again and that will have a good following, i believe john McVie has Cancer now i hope he is doing better 💙
a bit suspect isn't it that Christine McVie was so close to Lindsey, and they worked so well together, but Queen Stevie couldn't get over the past? I feel bad for Lindsey that he was able to have his own family, move on decades ago, yet Nicks couldn't let it go.
That's backwards Lindsey is the one still obsessed with Stevie not in love with Stevie but obsessed with the fact she rejected him Christine don't put up with nonsense and they were like brother and sister Christine was a best friend for Stevie and she confronted Lindsey Buckingham when he kicked Stevie onstage and threw his guitar at her head on the Tusk tour Christine confirmed that he did that and that was one incident I am not saying he is evil but he has issues I hope he makes peace
@@aprilgosa5779 No, Stevie is the one that cannot shut up about her relationship with Lindsey. Even in this interview she's speaking for him as if he regrets the life he has - regrets his wife and 3 beautiful kids if he could have her instead if they hadn't joined that pesky FM. No matter in other interviews she says they were already on the rocks or that she'd already cheated on him. She's spoken like this for the last 20 plus years. It's insulting and disrespectful to him and his family. Christine said she and Stevie never even spoke after the tour in 2019 ended. 3 years. Stevie complained she was bored during lock down (after years of complaining she had no time to write or do her projects she's said she was going to do for 45 yrs - she did nothing) but couldn't pick up a phone to call her "best friend" even once. Just like Prince was one of her great friends - a man she met a handful of times, who helped her out on one song she cribbed off his music and hadn't seen in about 30 years. Christine never confirmed that he threw a guitar at Stevie's head. Stevie didn't start telling that version of the the story until 2013. "News" sites tacked a 1997 Christine interview where she talked about Lindsey getting dead drunk and playing the wrong notes and mocking Stevie by dancing behind her during Rhiannon with his coat over his head and how she was angry because he disrespected the audience and to a lesser extent Stevie. Stevie told a story the same way, then said maybe he flicked a foot at her or something which wasafter Micks story in his notorious wasted mostly ghost written bio (years later Mick said he lied about a lot of stuff - even about his father). Then years later it became kicked at her and threw his guitar to the ground. Then the guitar almost hit her as it slid across the stage. By 2013 she was ducking like a Ninja as he threw a 40 lb (LOL, he'd be a permanent hunchback) Les Paul (which he no longer played in 1980) at her head and coked out Stevie ducked. Forget all that. This concert was broadcast nationwide over the radio and and they had a huge press conference with the group the next day. Imagine not one mention on air and not one reporter wrote, noted on even asked about the lead male singer/guitarist throwing a guitar at the female lead singers head and her ducking. Come on.
It's the other way around. If he's so happy why does he have to act like her life choices have anything to do with him? Also, if Chris worked so well with LB, why did she decide to go on the tour without him?
I get the sense that Nicks has become a bitter old woman and resents Buckingham’s ability to have a family. I can’t believe LB would even want to play with the band again after this betrayal.
Stevie made that band she didn't even have to have the band but she chose too but if my ex embarrassed me I would of have don't that too what goes on in personal life should be kept privae
@@aprilgosa5779don’t bet on it. There are millions of incredibly talented musicians out there that you’ll never hear of. The ones who get famous all had a lucky break and Stevie’s lucky break was when Lindsey insisted that Mick let her join the band.

oh i watched the speech and maybe stevie should have stopped always looking for something ,i mean the man got over it now she would run him down later ,i dont get that move on and leave the bitterthoughts to yourself i say to people in relationships cause you know what noone really knows what goes on ,its between two people and they are the ones that really know what went on not the stories they tell there friends ,but then we mature and learn that !!!!lolsadly w ehave to be so old ,lol!!!
When he left the band in 1987 and again when he was let go in 2018 it was the same reasons They wanted to go out on tour and he wanted to do his solo career
He could not accept the fact that Stevie left a controlling relationship and would not be living her world around him. He has a big ego it is organic. Seems she made enough friends in music business, look at all the duets with other artist's.
All I know is time is ticking with Chris gone now. That should be the sign for Lindsey and Stevie to stop it. Lindsey said early in the year that he was going to get right out on the road with new music and a tour. We have not seen him or heard from him since then. My question is.Is he okay health-wise it's not like him to be a not doing nothing. I love you Stevie but get over it already. time is ticking and ticking and ticking!!!
When it's all said and done, our rock and roll heroes have the same human failings as anyone else and do things that harm their image. Nicks had Buckingham fired because she could, and in so doing tarnished the band's image. Christine McVie's death and all the members' advancing age make it likely that a reunion now would be fairly high in cringeworthiness. Call it a day, guys!
When it’s all said n done,, nicks didn’t like the attention lynsey was getting, she was always a bit like that,, but it’s proved they are nothing without him,,, that new line up needed 3 guitarist to pull off Lynsey’s part,, and still couldn’t do it, 😂 I suppose it’s like the eagles going on without don Henley,,, it would be pointless , 👍👍
Honestly the fall out in 2018 is stupid. They’re seniors at this point, late 70’s and all of this doesn’t matter. Time to make up. They’re literally out there singing about each other solo for no reason . It’s sad and we’re ready for a reunion
From all the interviews and documentaries Fleetwood Mac has done over my 40 yrs of loving this band.... It's ALWAYS Lindsey who is the hard one to work with even coming from other members, He wants totally control, decision making & uses the band to put out his music to make bank, I think Lindsey is REALLY Jealous of Stevie & her successful female solo artist, writer, talented career & choices, Yes him and Stevie make beautiful music together when with Fleetwood Mac... but it's Stevie who keeps things current she writes songs that fit the changing of time & she has the pulse of the business she is selling her songs, records & sold out concerts as a solo artist not Lindsey! He is a small venue micro manager who needs bank and uses the band to sell his songs so people find him hard to work with, Stevie never finds it hard to make music with anyone even with him she makes it work but I think she has finally given up feeling like she owes him anything especially after all her awards it shows her she has earned it on her own without him so why keep helping him take care of his family & hers and the band expense!
OMG this is hilarious. Lindsey was the acknowledged architect of FMs sound since he joined. He was the main arranger and producer for all their albums (even when he only got lumped in group credit) when he was with the band. Mick is the one who convinced/tricked/strong armed him into turning three solo albums into FM albums. Mick Fleetwood said they were LOST in the studio without him. Christine who loved Lindsey and got along with him great said he was her favorite producer and the "most superlative guitarist this band has ever known". Take a look at Behind The Mask and Time to see where they were without him as a musician, arranger and producer There's a reason Stevie quit after BTM and it wasn't because of SS not being on Time Space. She said then that she should have left the band when Lindsey did because there's no FM without him (hah). It's why they all held an intervention and begged him to come back in 1997 and produce The Dance even though according to Stevie he was the only one that didn't need the money (mostly Mick & Stevie though - sniffsniff). By then all their careers were circling the drain. (FYI, Lindsey is still the wealthiest of the group) She's set herself up as a touring artist over the last couple of decades. Building it up be being the opening act with bigger stars on joint bills then the leading act. (now with Joel as opening again to play Stadiums which aren't a good venue for her or her current voice and physicality) She always associates herself with new young famous artists for the publicity. She's always been fantastic at marketing herself. From the start with having a live in photographer to American Horror Story to pretending she was one of Prince's best friends after he died. Even on her first album she had Petty and Henley for her two biggest songs. But she hasn't been a prolific writer in 40 years and over the last two decades she hasn't produced much new music - nor did it really sell any more either. No new skeletal melodies in 20 years - no new lyrics in over a decade that aren't completely wretched. So wretched she smartly won't perform them live. For the last 20 years it's been a mining of a 40+ year old vault. She's dried up creatively which is why she didn't participate in the last FM album and they were forced to release it as Buckingham/McVie - and she didn't forgive Lindsey for that. Not sure she even forgave Christine since she and Mick went behind her back to fire Lindsey and twist John's arm to join them in a "majority rules" play. It worked but it also got them successfully sued for $12-14m. According to Christine in July 2022 (who Stevie needed for the tour if she kicked out Lindsey) she hadn't spoken to Stevie since the day it the tour ended - 3 years earlier. Lindsey respects music and creating - stardom didn't mean shit to him the 1970s and it certainly doesn't when in he's in his 70s. To quote Mick, Lindsey had no respect for that lifestyle and all the shit that came with it. In 1981 he could have made an entire album filled with songs as resplendent as Trouble but he didn't want to. He wanted to fly his freak flag and do what he couldn't in the band any more after they rapped his knuckles over Tusk. Sure he wanted his solo music to reach a larger audience but he wasn't going to make music he didn't want to. He had a group for that already. (Mirage) He wouldn't even accept Sara McLachlan doing a duet on his album (and she's great) just in order to get it released by Warners. But Stevie would let them put Sometimes It's A Bitch on hers - which she hated. Sure Lindsey is so hard to work with which is why recently he worked with Trent Reznor, The Killers, Halsey etc and before that with Clapton, Johnny Cash, Brian Wilson, Don Henley, Warren Zevon, Tom Petty etc. Tom Petty who said he asked Lindsey to be co front man in The Heartbreakers in the 90s after he left FM. Also Tom Petty & George Harrison who wanted him The Travelling Wilburys. If he really lived just to one up Stevie he would have joined. He's still creating on a high level and as an artist that's what matters to him. Being famous is what ultimately mattered to Stevie. So in the end they both got what they wanted.
Buckingham and nicks are very aware of the monetary value of their endless makeups and breakups. They’ve become as scripted as tag team wrestling- and just about as relevant. Expect another reunion of the reunion and another anniversary of the anniversary just in time to pull in all the suckers. They have monetized their tired old feud far longer than their relatively brief relationship. They remind me of my husband who spent more time saving up for a broken television than he did watching it
Do you really think that they need any more money? Stevie just sold 80% of her rights for $100 million dollars. She's 75 years old. I seriously doubt she needs to reunite with FM or even tour on her own for cash.
Stevie Nicks ruined the band. She should have been a grown up, but she is so rich and selfish. I will NEVER see her. Before 2018, I was (past tense) a fan. No longer. She is selfish, and now people will never be able to see the original band together. Too late now.
Well' Don't go out with Rock Star ? That is all she dated I think from what Stevie Shared and God forbid use another means of Birth control besides Abortions 🙄 as for me once we learn about life Abortions are unacceptable for a 👶 baby
If we read between the lines, they shared physical and emotional intimacy on and off beyond 76, that's why there was never closure. Just think of all the touring they did together over the years. It's deeply beautiful, yet heartbreaking that they couldn't figure it out before it was too late because it's very clear they still love each other. Stevie went about it wrong - as she did sometimes when it came to Lindsey - but I don't blame her for needing to separate herself. Imagine having to see the man you love and with whom you share an intense bond and history, with his family. Then you go home to pets and friends that can't comfort you the way the man you love can. On the flip side, she just might have saved Lindsey's life. #soulmates
Stevie seems like a narcissist. She broke up with LB then treated him like shit for decades. Her interviews are so cringey, very self centered. Great music though, can’t deny that!
Stevie admitted, and Mick and Christine has publicly backed it up, that when Lindsay announced he was not going on tour for “Tango in the Night”, Stevie flew across the room and attacked Lindsay. That lead to her eventually running out and Lindsay chased her. This occurred at Christine’s L.A. home.
Are you one of those crazy Stevettes or whatever they call themselves who thinks Miss Nicks walks on water ?..shes far from perfect and I imagine she's dished out her fair share back.
He is controlling and abusive and calls this his love ask his ex wife and she gave him children...he did much more than l smirk at Stevie Nicks he defamed her as a colleague in the music industry to her face.... In front of the world..... He has always disregarded her and her talent and she has always lifted him up in his talent, to stand on the world stage and mock her, especially given the fact of their relationship in the past.... totally unforgivable, I myself would have spat in his face and that would have been the final end of Fleetwood Mac
What ex-wife ? He's still married and very involved with his now adult children.Would they want him in their lives if he'd been abusive to their mother ?
@@joroberts7855 well apparently rolling Stone lied... Irregardless he was very controlling very jealous and very manipulative to Stevie Nicks..... There is video of him trying to trip her on stage, and cursing her
Without Christine and Lindsey, the band is no more.
Stevie has an amazing voice and a mesmerizing stage presence. But for me Lindsey is the musical genius, the fact that he’s still open to return is incredible, he looked so hurt about the firing.
Eu não faria isso. Teria amor próprio. Ele não precisa disto.😂
He’s very talented
She sings like an old lady in church 😅 At least she's actually old now, so she matches her voice
He is talented but he is nothing without Fleetwood Mac. And can't stand that Nicks became waaaaay bigger artist than him. In every interview he always have some " little" poisoned words towards her. He is the bitter, not her.
@@e.p.649WRONG: LB IS MARRIED WITH 3 KIDS... SN 76 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO NEVER GOT OVER LB...FACT...
Stevie saying it was because of his behavior during her speech is total BS because if you actually watch the video, the other members of the band were making fun of her more than he was!
Her ego is huge ...
It's Christine Mcvie
They aren't a band anymore
And how very sad that is.😢
@@rickyparker9168 , I apologize for the typo. Silly me mad a HUGE error. I'll correct it .
I don't like her Solo stuff either....
Mais uma mulher que se aproveita da situação. Usa o homem como escada.😂
Team lindsey all the way.

Pretty sure they were together from 1966 to 1977, so 11 years.
0:36 - remember this was NOT the band's original lineup! In fact this version of Mac didn't exist until their 10th studio album!
Because of him she was in the band
Lol. Well, she prooved herself.
And because of HER it became "THE BAND"
No. He didn't want to join. She convinced him to. The reason it worked out so well is because she was the dynamic front person they needed.
This didn’t explain anything we already didn’t know 😳
One of my guitar heroes was always Lindsey Buckingham. But I always remember a quote from Jay Leno. "Don't meet your heroes, they'll only disappoint you". I think that would be true in this case. I see Buckingham as arrogant. I'm sure Stevie has her issues as well. It takes two to tango, even with disagreements.
I met him 3 times. I never thought he'd be the softspoken, friendly, honestly interested man who made warm contact that he was.
Only thing that interests me is their great music.

They got together way after Stevie and Lindsey split. She and mick didn't date very long either

All of this happened 30 plus years ago.
For the sake of the fans, not to mention plenty of cash, put it behind you!!
But Lindsey was with Carol Ann Harris when she had affair with Mick. So Lindsey was going his own way and he abused Carol Ann also.
Also Lindsey was hard to play with because he didn’t want to do songs the rest of the band did. We used to have a veto system and you can’t use that often that’s a once in a two year thing. I only used mine once on a song that always cramped my hand lol
I don't think it needs to be explained. There can be lifelong animosity when 2 people break up.

👍
Bullshit
Indeed.
That's not what male musicians who've worked with her say.
Stevie is the best!

@@patricksutton3992 Lol. And Stevie prooved herself over and over with great vocals and songwriting. She also had a successful solo career.
Nolan Winter....ignoring the facts? Would she have made it without Lindsey insisting it was both or none ?
Stevie and Lindsey came into the band as a couple.
Yes Buckingham Nicks they were called I believe most people are not aware of this. Only in my opinion a very dedicated fan for many many many years like myself ❤

She has always struck me as difficult person.

Lindsay and Christine managed to stay friends, I don’t know what Stevie’s problem is.
He shouldn't have insisted he would only join if she came too!
I'd always assumed that it was because she was jealous of the fact that LB has an immense amount of talent and she was just a little girl with a nice voice who took to liking cake later on.
I think you have it backward.
I have 0’interest in her solo work. I do love Fleetwood Mac - and without Stevie or Lindsay all ya have is a glorified cover band
It was always Fleetwood Mac, even before Buckingham and Nicks. I love what they brought, but they did not create this band.

LOL, let's ask the concert promoters and the record company if they agree with you. I'm betting not.
Wow she was so beautiful. Aging sucks lol
That clip saying “not what I want” was not about splitting from the band but from a song he wrote because she broke up with him.
a bit suspect isn't it that Christine McVie was so close to Lindsey, and they worked so well together, but Queen Stevie couldn't get over the past? I feel bad for Lindsey that he was able to have his own family, move on decades ago, yet Nicks couldn't let it go.
Love breakups are never mutual. Id imagine 10 fold as superstars.
Come on.
That's because Christine and Lindsey had no history. Stevie and LB had deep romantic history. They'll never be over one another.
It's the other way around. If he's so happy why does he have to act like her life choices have anything to do with him?
Also, if Chris worked so well with LB, why did she decide to go on the tour without him?
Drugs always a problem for everyone!!
I get the sense that Nicks has become a bitter old woman and resents Buckingham’s ability to have a family. I can’t believe LB would even want to play with the band again after this betrayal.
Buckingham's wife and baby mama doesn't like him either, they're divorcing.
Is there anyone that Stevie Nicks didn’t fall out with?
Her children
@@obamapox8185 she doesn’t have any.. are you trying to say something?
Is there anybody in anybody's life that they haven't had a falling out with at some time?
Stupid comment. Stevie is still friends with quite a few people from her past.
Yep. She's been drilled more than the Oklahoma panhandle.
Nicks wouldn't have a career if it wasn't for Buckingham. He had to demand that bands included her as she was a coke fiend.
This is all just more second hand news. Maybe they should Go their own way.
One’s a genius, the other’s a diva.
She's definitely a Diva & very egotistical
Yeah, Lindsey is the diva.
Goddess, actually.
Stevie made that band she didn't even have to have the band but she chose too but if my ex embarrassed me I would of have don't that too what goes on in personal life should be kept privae
With Christine gone ,the band is done. It doesn't matter anymore
Yeah, sadly you’re right. Especially with Lindsay still on the outs too. It’s so sad. 💔
Mick Fleetwood has said the same thing without Chris it may not be much longer I think Stevie and John Mcvie may feel the same way 🥹🌺
Without Buckingham, she would be a nobody.
Not true Stevie Nicks is talented in her own right
@@aprilgosa5779not necessarily. With her talent she would have eventually
@@aprilgosa5779don’t bet on it. There are millions of incredibly talented musicians out there that you’ll never hear of. The ones who get famous all had a lucky break and Stevie’s lucky break was when Lindsey insisted that Mick let her join the band.
If you really think that, YOU'RE a nobody.
She made the band what it is.
i htink lindsey was tired had enough ,they were all openily doing coke daily and well i htink he needed to breath again and decided to leave also ,he wanted more from his music and theres nothignwrong with that ,they all do eventually once they made it to the top they want to explore and see what else is out there and theres nothign wrong with that either, but if both were smart they would have stayed friends but i htink it wa smore ove rpower and ego them talent and relationship, and they both wre jsut too ego minded ,too ba dit would have been nice for them to mature and get back together with the band and gave us more of the fleetwoodmac we all loved from our youth, peter greeen was great and many others who were in that band but when lindsey and stevie came on board thank god mick neeeded a guitarist at the time ,they made history, they became a very big band with loads of talent from all of them,oh well ,my bucket list is short one now i dreamed of going to see a fleetwoodmac concert with stevie lindsey and christineand john and mick,oh well i still have my records !
That has to be one of the longest sentences I’ve ever seen! 😂
oh i watched the speech and maybe stevie should have stopped always looking for something ,i mean the man got over it now she would run him down later ,i dont get that move on and leave the bitterthoughts to yourself i say to people in relationships cause you know what noone really knows what goes on ,its between two people and they are the ones that really know what went on not the stories they tell there friends ,but then we mature and learn that !!!!lolsadly w ehave to be so old ,lol!!!
You need to learn how to spell. And you need to have periods at the end of your sentences. Not let them run on like that. Just saying.
It’s over.
I’ll see Lindsey anytime but I never want to see her again
When it's all said and done, our rock and roll heroes have the same human failings as anyone else and do things that harm their image. Nicks had Buckingham fired because she could, and in so doing tarnished the band's image. Christine McVie's death and all the members' advancing age make it likely that a reunion now would be fairly high in cringeworthiness. Call it a day, guys!
If wasn't for lindsey buckingham she would not be in the band in the first place they just wanted lindsey and he you have to take my girlfriend too.
Guess what? I think they're thrilled with how it turned out.
You can't even spell his name right. You're pointless.
(FYI, Lindsey is still the wealthiest of the group)
She's set herself up as a touring artist over the last couple of decades.
So in the end they both got what they wanted.
right on!
He wanted to pick up solo shows between Mac dates.
They remind me of my husband who spent more time saving up for a broken television than he did watching it
You sound like such a happy cheerio!
This is her story. Not sure it's the whole truth
Well' Don't go out with Rock Star ? That is all she dated I think from what Stevie Shared and God forbid use another means of Birth control besides Abortions 🙄 as for me once we learn about life Abortions are unacceptable for a 👶 baby
Abortion is fine. Toughen up.
Nothing more unfair than a womans wrath
Gimme a break, misogynist.
💔💔🎵🎶
Stevie was upset when Lindsey had kids but not with her.
#soulmates
At this point, childish. And they are my favorite band
Stevie seems like a narcissist. She broke up with LB then treated him like shit for decades. Her interviews are so cringey, very self centered. Great music though, can’t deny that!
Pointless has beens without Buckingham and Christine
Team Lindsey
Team Stevie
Stevie Nicks is just a glorified hot, semi talented groupie.
Stevie admitted, and Mick and Christine has publicly backed it up, that when Lindsay announced he was not going on tour for “Tango in the Night”, Stevie flew across the room and attacked Lindsay. That lead to her eventually running out and Lindsay chased her. This occurred at Christine’s L.A. home.
OMG this happened like a hundred years ago. Talk about hard up for news lol
Stevie is all ego. As much as I love her, but she really screwed up by kicking Lindsey out.
Eww wtf Buckingham??
???
