Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac played an outsized presence in my adolescence. I remember when my BFF Monica and I pretended that we saw Stevie Nicks at a local concert at the Japanese Sunken Gardens in San Antonio when we were 13. Six months before Monica died from cancer at 60, I proposed we try to catch a Fleetwood Mac concert. She died before that could happen but every time I think of Fleetwood Mac, I think of my BFF. Thanks, Stevie, for the memories. ❤

Just, imagine, every day you have to be in the mood, having a good time, feeling good, just in the mood to sing...?!?!? It is impossible for anybody to be everyday... hip.. Fleetwood Mac is the only Band in the World when Each band member is an Artist in their own right, No one stays in the shadows, Everyone is in the limelight. In their Songs, each Instrument is clearly heard loud & clear, Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums and the keyboard.
Actually, John prefers to stay in the shadows but as a drummer and bass player myself, his bass lines are hands down the most melodic every performed. He is a true master of his instrument. Add to it Micks rock solid drums and you have the best rhythm system in rock music history.

I've only discovered them a couple of years ago and love them! It's crazy how different generations can grow up listening to the same music or discover them later, as if time stood still and they hadn't grown old. My friends recently played a song from my childhood to their baby and I thought "Damn, this kid is almost 40 years younger than me and still grows up listening to the same music!" That's so crazy 😮🎉🫨
I'm 30 years old. Less than a decade ago I heard The Chain on the radio and thought "what a work of art!" so I instantly became a fan. Today I see TikToks of teenagers with Dreams, it's unbelievable how music is an eternal thing.
Great art never gets old! I know it doesn't sound/feel right to say that, but their music is top notch whereas contemporary pop music is catchy at best, usually when it rehashes older styles. Quality was just more prevalent 50-30 years ago in pop music as in many other fields, in fact.
Fell in love with Fleetwood Mac when Nicks and Buckingham joined, now at 62 they are still my go to band. I saw them at 14 years old in San Diego. Decades ago, I went to a concert hall to see Chuck Berry perform. One of the opening bands was a group called “Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac”. This was the original Fleetwood Mac, with its founding member Peter Green. According to legend, Peter decided to call the group Fleetwood Mac, because he knew he wouldn’t stay with the band very long. Back then they were a “blues rock band”. Flash forward a few years and I was working with the new Fleetwood Mac’s record company. I met Mick Fleetwood, but never mentioned to him I saw him perform with the original band. I also met Stevie Nicks at a party at her house to promote her solo album. The new Fleetwood Mac is a good pop band, but the original Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac was awesome.
I have a strange connection with Stevie Nicks. I grew up in a small beautiful town in a valley in Southwestern Manitoba called Minnedosa. I loved Fleetwood Mac. (Especially Stevie Nicks) I had a crush on her. One day in early August of 1980, a friend dared me to hitch-hike to Hollywood, so, I did and made it there I survived a brutal attack in Southern California, (Ended up in a hospital - Spent my 18th birthday there, head nurse bought me a pizza) A Mexican social-worker I had to see after I was released, asked me if I still wanted to go to Hollywood, I said 'YES!' and the next day I was given some friend chicken and put on a Greyhound to LA. Long story short, I arrived, and the first thing I did was to purchase a post-card & mailed it to & mailed it to the friend who had made the dare. I was lucky to find a nice couple who I stayed with, The husband worked at a 'famous' outdoor theatre in North Hollywood called 'The Hollywood Bowl' I ended up being an usher there, (I have a photo of myself on the stage holding a microphone looking very much like Peter Frampton!) I was there, I think it was late August, early Sept when Fleetwood Mac was playing and I was placed near the stage and told to escort Stevie Nicks off the stage. "Don't ask for an autograph - And be polite", so, of course, I was. I carefully held her dainty hand as she stepped off the stage. "Hello there, Stevie, Great concert, let me help you get off here!" I saw Stevie in 86ish, in 1990, and I saw her last year...actually almost a year ago now 10/25/22. I wasn't expecting to see the Stevie from the 80s or 90s, and she wasn't, but she was far better than I expected. At 74 yrs old she was still fantastic. Money well spent to see her one last time!
I was watching this thinking wow there is no way these guys are only 2 or 3 years older than me & even a few years younger then I realized this must be at the least 12 to 15 years old but what a great docu I love love Fleetwood Mac best all time band, takes me back, still can’t get enough of there music thanks for such a beautiful documentary ….💃🕺FOREVER 💙LEGENDARY
I was so lucky to get to see them perform live - all five of them together, a few years ago with my son. With the loss of Chris I'm sorry but they just aren't Fleetwood Mac anymore.
First this is an old video. Christine McVie has passed away and Mick Fleetwood has said, they would never tour again. Second I was a huge Fleetwood Mac fan back in the day and still have my albums. I read everything I could get my hands on about them then. Each write has a rich storytelling ability which should never be discredited, which I think Stevie tries to do to Lyndsay who is very talented. She needs to remember that he was so committed to their relationship he wouldn’t join Fleetwood Mac without her. From the interviews I’ve seen I think Stevie never got over the break up and that he married someone else. So sad. I live in Southern California and in the 80’s I saw them at the Inglewood Forum. A dream come true! Only Stevie was clearly doing drugs as she would leave the stage in between songs sometimes to change clothes but other times not. I didn’t think they were as good as they could be because Lyndsay was not on tour with them. Sadly, Stevie has way to much control of the band. I hope Chrisitne can rest in peace.
@@wendylewis4508 I love Christine but they toured without her for 15 years after she retired in 1998. The compounding problems are that John McVie physically can't tour any more and doesn't want to - Christine said this back in 2019 and Stevie had Lindsey fired in 2018. Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood are not enough to tour as FM even if they both think they are. Stevie currently has her solo tour and is opening act for Billy Joel - and tours at a much slower pace now - once every 4 or 5 days with months off in between. The most that might happen is a reunion for the Maui Fire Disaster since Mick is saying he's setting up a musical fundraiser event.
So much has changed since this was first broadcast. More tears, more bust ups. Another lineup change. The deaths of Christine McVie and founding guitarist Peter Green. But no new music as band since 2013.
I remember seeing them in the early aughts thinking they’d probably be stiff and hyper produced since they’re “so old” 😂 now. They rocked harder and better than a lot of current bands of the time. It was an excellent concert.
I think she looks miserable and comes across quite selfish and indeed she did decide that her career was more important than the life of her child which cannot be good to think about.
Her concerts were out of this world 🌎,. Coming on stage in that long black dress👗 you know she is going to take that stadium 🏟 by storm with an amazing performance that you'll never forget ❤️ 👏 👏 👏 👏....
to the people who grew up in the 60s and 70s who got to see all those Iconic bands in their peak.. WOW talk about epic moments... would have loved to have seen Fleetwood mac in the 70s or 80s live..
With all due respect...the Fleetwood Mac w/Bob Welch was real. This may be a commercial success but somewhere they lost the heart. Bob Welch, Peter Green, Danny Kerwin, Fleetwooid Mac. Christine McVie, always Perfect.
I Love them!!!!! funny I did not realize, I am in the same age group as them. Watching this brought me back to my youth, Im so happy you all got through the trails and tribulations. Going through life right now is stressful, as I’m caring for three sick seniors, when I get behind the wheel and I hear there songs, it gives me such harmony & happiness. Thank you for going on this journey, you’ve been with me all the WAY!!! Cuddles from Canada 🌸🇨🇦🇬🇧🧘♀🐾🐾M
Fact. Christine McVie wrote 8 of the 16 hit songs on Fleetwood Macs Greatest Hits Box Set. More than Stevie Nicks or Lindsey Buckingham wrote. They barely talk about Chrissie!
I saw FM way back in the day and Mick Fleetwood was so high, he was drooling & stood up and knocked down his drum set and started banging on his balls with his drumsticks. Nobody in the band was phased. It was pretty surreal.
Saw them every time they toured Australia and still have their vinyl albums ..first concert was at Festival Hall in Brisbane..now defunct…it was great because it was not a stadium….better sound…closer view…fantastic.
I absolutely love Fleetwood Mac they have been a staple in my life. I’ve never missed a concert and was lucky enough to meet Mick Fleetwood in a Melbourne hotel. I miss Christine.
I am guessing that as this was a promotional clip for an upcoming 2009 Australian tour, they didn't want to focus on the band member who was missing. Being reminded of Christine as a crucial member of the band might result in people thinking that the band wouldn't be worth seeing without her, and not buy tickets.
Pure brilliance from this band from the very early days to today. Their first album i walked into a record store, in Plymouth UK and it caught my attention immediately as it was being played there. I have followed them in my life always hearing their changes and their successes with various memories for me in my life association to different times for me. Its been a trip all the way. I Really look forward to hearing them on this next venture. I wish i could afford to go see but that impossible now but opportunity for tv may be possible. Lets hope. .❤❤❤ i wish them all success as im sure it will be brilliant. ❤❤❤
Love Fleetwood Mac's music. . .what a shame 60 Minutes Australia never interviewed Christine McVie, who died last year at 74. In 1978, Beach Boy Dennis Wilson was in a short relationship with her. RIP Christine. 😿🎶
Nice story of the band that everyone already knows. The reality is that this band would not exist today if it wasn’t for Bob Welch. Bob joined the band in 1970, changed their music direction and took them to California to be closer to their record company and promotion capabilities. It’s a shame no one knows this story. Rest in peace Bob.
I met her briefly in the 90's while staying at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Ca. when I worked there as a bellman. I think she was at Forest Cottage but not sure of the name now after so many years. She was singing her own songs when she answered the door. Total Diva at the time. Doubt fame helped her in her lifetime. I also met Lindsey when he also stayed there. He seemed like a normal person. She did not present that way at the time at all.

I saw Stevie in 86ish, in 1990, and I saw her last year...actually almost a year ago now 10/25/22.
This from 2004

What a great emotional look into their lives ! They were and always will be a great band !
My favorite band of all time ❤
Fleetwood Mac is the best example of an old Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) quote, "Every band is just a drummer & a bass player with a novelty act."
I was so lucky to get to see them perform live - all five of them together, a few years ago with my son. With the loss of Chris I'm sorry but they just aren't Fleetwood Mac anymore.
Stevie looks even better than she used to! I loved every single one of their songs since the 70s
This is an OLD episode.
I hope they never tour again - Christine Perfect was such a vital member of the band her voice and songwriting talent is not replaceable.
Heartfelt sympathy for the passing of Christine
Opens with Mick's drumming...
"Hypnotized" just AWESOME!!
I love that she’s not gonna die of drug attic. She’s gonna die a happy artist that got to do what she wanted.❤
I think she looks miserable and comes across quite selfish and indeed she did decide that her career was more important than the life of her child which cannot be good to think about.
Embracing old age and death politely. What a woman. She will always be my number 1.
Christine mcvie we loved you....rest in peace you were the background of my life
I have been reading Mick Fleetwoods autobiography play on. It's a good read. Damn there was a lot of drama in that band
So greateful to have had the opportunity to see them all in 2015 - including the fantastic Christine and Lindsey.
Greatest band ever and that includes the beginning with Peter Green.
Always loving Fleetwood Mac! A great interview. Thanks from 🇨🇦
Her concerts were out of this world 🌎,. Coming on stage in that long black dress👗 you know she is going to take that stadium 🏟 by storm with an amazing performance that you'll never forget ❤️ 👏 👏 👏 👏....
They were 5 Creative Geniuses!!!!! Ybey were Truly Gifted!!!! Eileen kimmey
Thank you 60 Minutes for that beautiful heart warming interview with the Best band in the world. You've definitely made this viewers day. ✨💜🌜
to the people who grew up in the 60s and 70s who got to see all those Iconic bands in their peak..
This is journalism at its finest. Thank you 60 minutes!

This is pretty old video 2005
Lindsey seriously needs to make a Jazz Guitar album...I love hearing him play the guitar, and if he played Jazz riffs, all the better!
Stevie Nicks has graciously aged like fine wine🥰🥰
Saw them every time they toured Australia and still have their vinyl albums ..first concert was at Festival Hall in Brisbane..now defunct…it was great because it was not a stadium….better sound…closer view…fantastic.
WOW, this is old. Stevie is now 75 and still lovely.
Yeah, I wondered why they say she is 61?
An excellent interview! I never, ever saw this latest reunion coming. Bravo to them for making it happen. 👏❤️🎶
Loved Fleetwood Mac from the early 70s and still adore their music. Thank you for the music.
I love Stevie always have!! She's so down to earth
I absolutely love Fleetwood Mac they have been a staple in my life. I’ve never missed a concert and was lucky enough to meet Mick Fleetwood in a Melbourne hotel. I miss Christine.
Love this but where was the part about Christine?! She’s part of so many enormously successful songs and a true legend in her own right.
Exactly! Our Songbird.. always so classy❣️🎶
I am guessing that as this was a promotional clip for an upcoming 2009 Australian tour, they didn't want to focus on the band member who was missing. Being reminded of Christine as a crucial member of the band might result in people thinking that the band wouldn't be worth seeing without her, and not buy tickets.
@@daniellamcgee4251 - She WAS a crucial member of the band! Without her songs, band probably would’ve flopped. Thank goodness Lindsey could write!
Yes one of the greatest bands ever and Mick Fleetwood was in my mind one of the best drummers in the world.
This documentary is 14 years old. Says Stevie is 61.... she is currently 75
Fleetwood Mac my all time favorite musicians! So much great music, so talented still love to listen to them today as much as the first time.
I love this Band...I have from day 1...they are my go-to Band when I just binge on Music...
Yes to “my life is what i wanted, i will die one day an artist doing what i wanted “ 👏✨
O lov3d Christine McVie.Such a great singer/ songwriter and She seemed like a really sweet person.
R.I.P. Christine.
They should do a fundraising concert for Lahaina and then a free concert for !aui natives, given their connections there
Saw them in concert 20 years ago at Staples Center. Awesome concert seeing such talent!
Stevie's last lines... I think so many female creatives can relate. To have liven a creative life, still producing and... be with your dog. I love it.
Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac are my #1 all time favorites❤.... especially my goddess, Stevie❤....everyone that's ever known me knows this...AND NOW, MY GRANDDAUGHTER LOVES STEVIE❤❤.. 🥰🥰 🥰🥰....SOOO SPECIAL ❤
I saw Fleetwood Mac at a University gymnasium in 1975 just after their "Fleetwood Mac" album was released. One of my fondest concert memories!
Fleetwood Mac are so very important to me. And in my first love relationship.
I love the band and always will no matter what.❤
So great to hear Fleetwood Mac have regrouped and are touring Australia, love to win a ticket to one of their concerts cause I know I couldn’t afford a ticket ❤️🎶
They haven't regrouped and they're not touring, this interview is from 2009.
I can relate to what Stevie said@9min😎😄😛
60-year-old black female here. Saw them in concert once, her solo once. Okay, I have to give it to her, despite our different beliefs. Great musical artist. Beautiful voice, talented writer, aesthetically pleasing as well. I applaud you for all that. And Mr. Buckingham - Wow, much the same. The entire bad actually - Wow!!
Brilliant. Thank you. Christine Mcvie was a huge member too ❤ Love Stevie Nicks. Love her character too
RIP. Christine McVie
I saw the Band back in the day, saw Christine when she toured solo also Stevie when she toured solo then when they all got back together the last time, all great concerts.
I love Stevie nicks have since I was a kid, my mother had all her LPs ...would love to meet her in person ..
I just wanted to thank you all so very much that you been so much expiration to millions & millions & more than that you planted a seeds to so many souls around the world , that seeds grow as your music , voices, lyrics helped us to growing & overcoming many sorrows in humans life that we all have , but not all could overcome. My name Nadia I come to USA in 1977 , age 24; but married with a child, I like music & I listened to any music that make me feel happy or happier, regardless of the language & lyrics, so early that ear we have radio and listening to whatever ,whoever was singing was just fine for me , asTina Turner singing in her song “Dancing for money and any of your music will do”
because the only language we knew was Russian. So one day I herd voice & music that completely overwhelms me , little did I know who was it or anything at all about . But each and every time Fleetwood Mac’s playing I literally was touching the heavens with my emotions, and I still having same feelings and same human love , admiration, respectability, for your talents that would Never fade away from me , from very first time I have heard Fleetwood Mac’s till the time I would leave this world.
From my deepest heart feeling I am thankful to each and every one of you who still here & for those who is not for yours existing on this planet!!!
Warmly with the moonlight gratitude❤❤❤
