As excited as I was by these Inner Circle designs for the Dark Angels, we all know I'm a major fan of Black Templars. So when @officialwarhammer sent me these models for review, I couldn't help turning them into something that I would be able to field more often! Some parts of this conversion did make me worry a little about the results, but I kept going and it turned out great! Well I think so anyway! Hope this helps you guys see that any models can be turned into what suits you best in a pretty easy way! Let me know what you think, and what else you'd like to see!

I love a good conversion and this guy fits the bill. I'm torn on the robes but i think you made the right choice, red robes would look odd in a way that the cloaks they normally have don't.

As someone who is making a DA successor chapter and eying BT models for their robes and chained weapons (sometimes it is better than gluing small chains), I see no issue in this and I love your conversion. It honestly reminds me more of a Judiciar with the arm pose and the relic. You've given me ideas for my own conversion with a different model now.

Though the conversions are necessary to achieve your goal, it's difficult to watch my Dark Angels turn into Templars. But, they do serve the Emperor and both deal with the enemy with the same, blood thirsty zeal. Lol. Thanks for sharing, my Brother. 😊😊😊

I like the bone cloth, but I think some embellishments would have been nice, maybe red trim around the edges. A flowing red Cape would have been perfect.

See I love them both. I'm more Dark Angels oriented (they're my favourite chapter), but I definitely wouldn't be against having both. But maybe its because I try to limit my armies to Imperium and Order for 40k and AOS with the option for ONE exception (Eldar for 40k, AOS not yet assigned), so I don't completely go bananas buying stuff I'll never get round to!

Great video Andy, the figure loos superb. The Bladeguard Bretheren colour their bone coloured robes with the blood of their enemies.

I've never liked the idea of using regular Bladeguard Veterans with Raven Guard, and I think you sold me on converting Inner Circle Companions for that purpose -- sure, they're not the most knightly of chapters, but I do like the knightly Space Marines aesthetic and seldom have a chance to use it with RGs, and I think they're gothy enough to get away with it here. Now to learn how to sculpt little raven skulls out of green stuff to put them on the chest in between the imperialis wings....

I'd be interested in seing other robe colours, perhaps red (just to see if its too much) and maybe black.
Perhaps we can do something.
Maybe glue a skull to the center of the cross on his breast plate to make it blend in a bit and have a little extra focal point as well. Possibly a few red crosses on his lower robe (round where the legs are) would look fantastic I think. Over all loved the model and conversion as a whole.

The small cross on the top of the holy hand grenade works great on a chest plate. You can leave the wings on and scrape the skull away.

Always prefer cloaks in one colour, but would have done the red on the chest symbol like the others.

I think that feeling you had about the chest comes from part of the dark angels iconography still existing on the scuplt's abdomen. Maybe paint a couple purity seals and glue them below the symbol you painted on his chest to hide it?

Great work as always. I’m quite tempted to use the sword from the BT upgrade sprue, a reaver head and turn this model into a Black Templar Judiciar

The robes I think are right, I think that much red would have swamped it. I see what you mean about the chest cross, I think red may have worked better. But it still kicks ass

You need to challenge yourself more otherwise you can't call yourself Mediocre Hobbies. Can you turn a watermelon flavored space marine into a licorice flavored space marine? Yes. Let's see you turn a Sister of Battle into a Tau, or a necron into a tryranid:) Lovely end result, as always:)

It came out really well but I definitely think there's a little too much cream for my taste. But I also think if it were red it would probably be too much as well. The full body tabards just aren't great for colour distribution
