Hi Marty. John-Peter from Compost Revolution. Glad you loved everything about The Farm (we designed it, Maze build it) apart from the lid having no air vents. This was a deliberate decision. One of the biggest killers of worm farms is flooding due to blocked taps and air holes in flat lids. We turned the design on its head, with a solid leak-free lid and an unblockable drain in an open-air bottom. Our farm breaths through its floor, not its roof!. This makes it perfect for indoors AND outside, rain, hail or shine. On my own balcony, I have 4 trays on The Farm, making it larger capacity than our competitor (who ripped PS) Enjoy!!

It's a good idea. I wish I was told these points a little deeper at the time. Taps that block are a pain,,and yes airflow is required. Thanks for commenting here JP. I don't have one of these anymore, but they are great little farms for sure!😀😎

Good to hear another review of the maze. I bought my first one last year after I watched your first reviews. I live in a tiny home and keep mine in a lower cupboard. It has been very successful!

Really great review. I have the Maze and I agree it has been a great farm as a complete beginner to Worm Farming. I agree it is very sturdy and the lid is clearly designed to fit really well. Just need to watch how you're putting the trays on so it slides in correctly. Really cost effective too. Not expensive to buy at Bunnings. I have the plastic legs on mine just to raise it up a bit. I suspect I'll want my next worm farm to be a little bigger, but I'm SO happy I started my journey with this one.

Great little farm..seems well constructed..I just use old woodchip bags with holes throughout so my worms can free range but they always stay as I fill with half composted waste from hotbin composters which they love and coir at the base....top layer is thick shredded cardboard soaked with rainwater....they breed like crazy in sacks under a tree and I enjoy sorting it all out manually. The proper farms look super though, nice review 👌

Hi Mandy. I real like hearing how others farm worms in different ways. Thanks for sharing with my community..probably a few will try the woodchip bag hhehe

Very encouraging to see yours doing so well. The Maze instructions say to flush the farm with 5L of water during the hot season. Does it matter what the source of the water is or type of water (ie. faucet, bottled or rainwater)? Are you suppose to squeeze the water from the bedding after flushing or will it drain on it's own? I remember as a kid trying something like this and the worms drowned, so I'm concerned about risking an investment in worms. Thank you very much for your advice and your videos!

You should check out the FCMP Outdoor Bin. It's a Canadian version of the Maze. It's about the same size, but with larger holes protrude down further into the lower bin. I just set it up 2 weeks ago. I would like to get a Hungry Bin, but it is too expensive in Canada. Between $400-500 Canadian.

Got the tumbleweed version. I think its a tad better than the maze. Imo tumbleweed make the best worm farms. Even Bunnings sell the taps, which is a far cheaper option for those willing to build their own farm. Been experimenting with adding spagnum moss in the top mixed with the food/cardboard to retain mostuire and the worms love it from experience. They even go wild if you add some bokashi in with the food. Youll see the most worms in ages and they all group up. I find it's great to reduce and move worm numbers to other farms.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. I plan to compare the Tumbleweed cube against the Maze soon actually😀

@@martysgarden I just think the small holes in the lid of the farm works great if you want to water and not remove the lid, the only downside is the liquid collector tray is too small, so you need to be careful overwater or you'll flush out your worms

Hi Marty... on a low low income could you recommend a cheap way of setting up a worm farm for the first time please...

Hi Christina,,Tote worm farm,,foam box with a lid. The foam boxes they store lettuce in work really well. You can also put another smaller foam box with holes inside another foam box without a lid. Hope that helps

Marty.... Either you're a paid sponsor for product or you're way off the "mark" for the audience!
You'll do alot better with your channel if you provide sound advice for the beginner.....
Nobody desires to start a worm farm for a high monetary cost.
Like I said above you'll do better if you show a cost effective way, ie. We all can build the same worm farm for under $40 AU !
Provide your audience with real knowledge not adhoc jargon!👍
Consider it fed back literally ❤️

YOU ARE WAY OFF, if you see my videos on this farm I mention I have never once been paid. It's a bit of an insult to call me out on that! Way off the mark,,people actually buy this product so I am doing my best to help them. Not everyone does DIY.
