  • I have been using the Maze Worm farm for well over four months now and a review was well overdue.
I actually really like this little farm as it's not heavy, it houses the worms well, makes liquid and castings.
Yes, it even recycles a bit of waste, but not that much as it's quite small.
However, I think the Maze company is onto something as far as style goes.
It's a real stylish unit and looks great.
I highly recommend it to those looking for a smaller stylish unit that lives in a small space. If you're after castings and worm wee it provides enough to raise seedlings and pot up plants.
If you are interested in worm farming I have plenty of videos for you to learn from on my channel here.
I also teach small space gardening, sustainable vegetable garden and run a small micro-farm from home which is in my vlogs.
If that interests you please subscribe and click the notification bell to stay notified.
    Happy Gardening & Stay Safe

Great tray of castings Marty. Ive a Maze tumbler turned into a worm farm too. It's going really well. One side is now soft and earthy and broken right down but no castings yet.. Ill wait another couple of weeks to see if they turn i to it. Great camer work Karin .

That's so cool. I found it's best to let the compost tumbler go a little longer than a worm farm to get the best results. Then take out two thirds and leave a third as bedding...they power on like this

With the size of that bin, you would only need about 250 adults. I use 250 in my bins. In 8 weeks, they laid over 500 cocoons and the material was fully processed.

Do a search on my channel about microgreens and baby leaf and you will be blown away by what you find.😀

Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm thinking of buying or making a worm farm, I saw this one in Bunnings and wondered if it's any good. I used to have one of the big, rectangular ones, years ago. How do you separate the worms from the castings?...and how much food can you put in? With the bigger farm, I remember that with 3 tiers, the worms would all end up at the middle or top, so it was easy to use the castings, but I don't have much room now, and it gets very hot here in WA, that was the problem with the farm I had years ago, it was difficult keeping it cool in summer, even in the shade. Also, do you recommend buying the conditioner?

Thank you for this, it was very helpful. I've been reading a lot about worms trying to escape the different worm farms. Is there a concern with worms escaping this one from the bottom, since the bottom is just a tray with holes? I'm trying to decide which one to buy.

    • @martysgarden

They pretty much can escape from any farm as they all have ways for water to leave, which is needed.

Hey Marty. Great video, thanks. I have just taken delivery of my first Maze worm farm and can't wait to get started.
One question though please. While the lid and top 2 worm trays fit snugly, the base seems to be about 2mm too wide. I can clearly see through to the green tray worm catcher.
My worry is that the worms will be able to escape, but also that the rain will simply pour in and fill the liquid catcher!
Is the base meant to be slightly wider for a reason that you know of please?
    Many thanks, MB

I always wait at least 6 months to a year because I want dewormer and any seed to die before adding it to any of my warm bin or garden. I can tell that my boyfriend add horse poop to one of my garden areas. He didn't realize that the horse poop had grass seed in it. Also it burn some of my vegetables up. I can't seem to get rid of grass. But like I see above, it better to let it set out and compost.
