Great tray of castings Marty. Ive a Maze tumbler turned into a worm farm too. It's going really well. One side is now soft and earthy and broken right down but no castings yet.. Ill wait another couple of weeks to see if they turn i to it. Great camer work Karin .
That's so cool. I found it's best to let the compost tumbler go a little longer than a worm farm to get the best results. Then take out two thirds and leave a third as bedding...they power on like this
Just found your channel and think I will get a lot of great info from you. I was doing research about worth fairs so I am definitely getting one now. Hubby and I are about to move into a tiny house in the suburbs, and am planning to have a vegetable garden, so I would love to hear about growing veggies on a small plot here in Australia. Greetings from Perth
Hi Jazzie, I do have lots of small space veggie gardening on this channel. At the moment I am teaching mostly worm farming as that is the best way to produce all the free fertiliser needed. Do a search on my channel about microgreens and baby leaf and you will be blown away by what you find.😀
That is a real good batch of worm goodness you have going there Marty. I have a bit from a far smaller scale operation to offer to a few of the soon to be planted peppers and tomatoes. Gotta say also that Karin is developing some awesome camera skills too. Happy Gardening! -Bob...
@@martysgarden I have 4 Maze farms now! Love that they're light and I can move them around. Ive brought them inside for the summer months. ( Melbourne ) They're safe in my laundry! :)

With the size of that bin, you would only need about 250 adults. I use 250 in my bins. In 8 weeks, they laid over 500 cocoons and the material was fully processed.
I have one Vermi composter and definitely have an issue with 3 years on that the trays get stuck together and I struggle to get them out, still a very productive farm and my 30 worms have been multiplying gradually but definitely would love to give one of those a try if you could provide a link

Hi & thanks for the great review. Question, how do you separate the worms from the castings and other material so you can use it in your planting beds? (Was told I shouldn't release the red wigglers worms into my local environment

Hey Marty. Great video, thanks. I have just taken delivery of my first Maze worm farm and can't wait to get started. One question though please. While the lid and top 2 worm trays fit snugly, the base seems to be about 2mm too wide. I can clearly see through to the green tray worm catcher. My worry is that the worms will be able to escape, but also that the rain will simply pour in and fill the liquid catcher! Is the base meant to be slightly wider for a reason that you know of please? Many thanks, MB
Can you add more than 2 tiers, or is that not worth doing? I've never used worm farms but it could be a good addition to our current smallish yard/garden. I'd like to be able to sell worms, "worm juice", and maybe even worms
@@martysgarden that's what I assumed may be the case. I'm still in the early stages of creating our garden (new home) but planning for future possibilities too. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my comments 🙂
Thank you for this, it was very helpful. I've been reading a lot about worms trying to escape the different worm farms. Is there a concern with worms escaping this one from the bottom, since the bottom is just a tray with holes? I'm trying to decide which one to buy.
They do like to travel African Night Crawlers actually need a bigger farm than the Maze one I find. Maybe consider becoming a Worm Wrangler and doing the courses there. Cheers Marty 😀
Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm thinking of buying or making a worm farm, I saw this one in Bunnings and wondered if it's any good. I used to have one of the big, rectangular ones, years ago. How do you separate the worms from the castings?...and how much food can you put in? With the bigger farm, I remember that with 3 tiers, the worms would all end up at the middle or top, so it was easy to use the castings, but I don't have much room now, and it gets very hot here in WA, that was the problem with the farm I had years ago, it was difficult keeping it cool in summer, even in the shade. Also, do you recommend buying the conditioner?
