@chhonvila2054 greetings to you too. I visited Cambodia way back in 1998. What an amazing country with fascinating history. I would love to go back one day
I love the creativity and beauty in your videos; started following you 4 years ago during the lockdown when I had time to excavate all the weeds and crap from what had been our garden, discovered the soil was still there, rich and waiting, and I was inspired by your videos. Thank you for taking us through your Wormville; I need to reset my worm tub -- which I also began because you used a tub, showed us how to do it. Greetings from the state of Georgia in the US, right above the Florida state line, where early spring weather is teasing us. Can't wait to start planting!
Totally agree with you. This video was not only visually stunning...I particularly loved the sound track...the choice of music to the visuals, how long you played the clips, how the music complemented your voice and gentle humour. I'm a bit cooped up in a flat in Melbourne until June with granddaughter and mother minding. You are inspiring me to really hit the dirt running when I return to Chihuahua. I'll certainly have to reset up a wormviille, concoct some LAB, and replant some trees. Hopefully somethings will survive in my desert garden with a year of absence.
Weeeeeee……what a wonderful Weedy video about worms! Trying to work out why….I think (apart from your beautiful filming and incredible research and also wisdom of experience) it’s your reverence and love for Life. Somehow even a toad being eaten by worms seems sacred and beautiful when we see it through your eyes. Thank you Weedy. You are wonderful.
Greetings, David "Weedy"❤ I have been Worm farming since 2009. I have 6 wormbins from a Can-O-Worms down to 2 plastic shoeboxes. They are the most wonderful creatures ❤️ and I love working with them ❤️ ❤Peggy❤
Thankyou weedy, you answered a few questions I had and made me laugh. I loved you spinning with the watering cans, 😂 and was worried you were gonna sip from the red cup...only because I see you as a big kid having Soo much fun in the garden. Its such a joy watching your videos. You bring Soo much to us viewers that is above and beyond.
Good evening from Croatia. You sir are inspiration. I just found your channel just as I bought my own homestead. Perfect timing. Hoping to grow some in the land up and over. Greets to the land down under ;D
wow has it really been three years?!? time flies when your having fun i guess... thanks for still making you tubes honestly thought we'd loose you after the world opened back up
So many layers of life just within the worm farm. Btw first year gardening became fascinated with worm tea for the garden, the plants flourished in ways I couldn't imagine . what a joy!
My dude! You are an incrediblly talent filmographer (weedy) it appears that you have been alone on your property the way you present your videos. I hope that isn't true! Please share videos of friends visiting you, besides Geoff, on your wonderful property. Who knows invite a stranger and become a friend?
A few years back we had major flooding on the Arkansas river. Living nearby we visited the river banks several times daily. The worms we drowning by the thousands. People were scooping up the wiggling ones by the hands full. These worms are very large and are called night crawlers. There were many people fishing from the levy until they were told it was unsafe due to the height of water. The road was barricaded. Our levy came really close to failing. There was levy breaks in other locations. Not sure if I could keep the worms alive, I did not gather any. Wish i had at least tried! Good video as always. Thank you Weedy! Have a good day!
Loved this one, worms and microbiology is a fascinating subject. You could experiment with mushrooms too, I think you got the climate for that. It would be great, with your photographer skill, in my humble opinion.
I think my worms are Red Wigglers, but not sure since they just came from the garden. But I laughed when you picked up the banana: I saw that same big knot of happy worms when I picked up a celery base in the bin this morning. Maybe when I get a break in the rain I'll steal some worm castings from them.
@@TheWeedyGarden haha thanks for letting me know! I was worried I missed it, lol. I don’t have much space to do that project outdoors, so I have to live vicariously through others right now! That, and it’s -10C outside right now!
Hi Weedy, I've set up my work farm following your instructions. I'm in outback NSW so it's going to get very hot soon. I was wondering if I should be concerned about meat ants, they haven't discovered my worms yet , but....how could I stop/prevent them from using wormville as a pantry.
Hey Weedy Watchers. If you see a comment like this that YOU can answer for me, then please do. It saves me time. For you who is asking, you will find out sooner or later if you keep watching 👍😝
@TheWeedyGarden I used wooden pallets with a fabric covering inside. That way, more oxygen gets in and moisture can escape more easily. Breathable. I also would prefer living in a wooden cottage rather than in a shipping container. But maybe it's also because of the difference in climate. I only say this for those who have less success with a bathtub. But if it works then it works. 🙂
@@TheWeedyGarden as long as they aren’t invasive, no, but they might not stay in the beds. As Weedy said in his video, the worms stay where the food is, so unless you are constantly adding raw-ish food to your beds, they will probably leave to find food elsewhere.
Curious I’m always finding worms when I reset my soil (just fluff up the top couple inches) are they earth worms or compost worms? If they’re only a couple inches down could they still be earth worms? Or could I start my own farm with them ???🫶🏼🌿

Would it be okay to feed bokashi pre-compost to the worms or just directly out into soil? Love your vids

Keep meat out of it and you should be right.
Hello mate,
Just wondering about keep away wormville from the ants?
Çok güzel, doğayı korumak için tüm insanlarında katkıda bulunması lazım
That is exactly what I am doing with an old bathtub.
I want to cultivate worms.
What would you recommend for labelling a tree/bush etc that isn’t plastic and will permanently stay there?
engrave it in wood. make a sign
So I live in zone 6 which gets really cold in winter. If I had a worm farm at what temp do you think ide need to move it indoors?
frost. Or you can insulate it with hay bales
so how do you keep the bad bacteria from the worm juice ? by adding the comfrey juice ?
Air
Will compost worms in a potato or onion bed eat the potatoes or onions that I’m trying to grow?
Good question. Worms will not touch anything that is alive so no. Your spuds are safe.
Would adding chlorinated water to some of the worm juice or casting mix kill the bacteria (the good stuff) before it gets poured out into the garden?
Heck yes!
So don't use chlorinated water? If I have to use it sometimes, does that decimate the soil organisms?
@@kims941 not if you let it sit in an open drum for a day to gas off the chlorine
@@TheWeedyGarden thanks! I've been gardening a few years now and this is the first I have given any thought to the water I use.

For me an iron bathtub didn't work, too much moisture. I changed to a wooden structure and got much more worms.
How would that be different?

Do you ever "harvest" excess worm population to inoculate raised beds or other places?
Sure you could do that
I would make sure that the species you are looking to move aren’t invasive to your area first :)
@@misstweetypie1 But is it a problem?

You can order red wigglers readily they reproduce as long as they have a healthy home
