Jeff, I remember when you started with AI-generated images; my initial thoughts were that it was a fad, and I decided not to bother and concentrate on regular photography for stock agencies. I’ve recently been surprised and pleased that you are now making reasonable money from this new sector. I thought that AI images would be a fad because I thought content would pile up while demand would drop due to everyone having access to the technology (free or paid). I believe that most creative agencies would now be using this technology, and I would assume that more and more individuals are now trying AI generation - so why pay for someone else’s work? The beauty of AI is that for people like me who don’t have much artistic talent, you can still generate impressive results without too much work. I still think this area has a limited shelf life, but now creators like yourself are becoming more successful; I am not so confident with my views! I will be interested in how it all plays out, and you will be a good source of knowledge about trends with your regular updates.

Well... I wish I could predict what was going to happen with AI in the future. I don't think it's going to be a fad, however. I feel like big buyers like corporations are going to have a preference for AI. Its cleaner, easier, no controversy. There is also the risk is that AI gets regulated out of existence by states, but I don't see that happening. Hopefully the information I am providing helps! And hope you are well Alistair!

Hi Jeff, thank You, hmm I think Canstock is victim before AI really start, but maybe only for me, I have only very small port with around 500images

Thanks for the discussion concerning AI. We are at a major change point. Perhaps there will be survivors but I think those who will be left standing will be the top performers and early adopters (both for contributors and agencies). Maybe the agencies will totally change their contributor plans to cut numbers to only what they deem the most viable and productive (similar to Wirestock). Perhaps new AI sites will be born at the cost of many traditional stock agencies. Great video.

I think will capture most markets. But I suppose in future traditional photography came back to game. And real photos will again be in value

All those possibilities make sense Andrew... but who knows what will happen. I feel like whatever happens things will head in a direction that is more superficial than before.

@@JWhyte123 hi Jeff, i agree. When I read my comment back I realised how bleak it appeared. I really appreciated your balanced views on the news concerning the industry.

It’s kind of weird where everything is going. The Adobe missions seems like a cool idea, but using the content from them is likely better than the AI stuff. Firefly is pretty good though. It’s easy to see the potential.

The problem with the Missions for me is to find time before the Missions close. This is a hobby and I can't really make a schedule around this - not enough reward. In countries where 60 US dollars really means something, then this could be great for people.

About Getty: Their AI content will NOT be included in their normal libraries, where we upload to. So AI content and contributor content will be seperated from a customer viewpoint. That's in fact very good news.
If you look at Adobe, right now 5% of their total content is AI generated. And thats only in 6-12 month - what will the picture look like in 2-3 years ??

Is AI content already at 5% on Adobe? That's amazing. Surprising. An as for Getty, I would be surprised if a separate tool behind a pay wall is the end of the story. Guess we will see where things go. Hard to predict.

Thanks for the update. It feels like every aspect of life is changing faster than anyone can keep up. I wonder if AI images are just a fad, just like the artwork of Peter Max that was all the rage and now you don't see it around much. Maybe there will eventually be a move back to traditional photography.

The part that makes me worried that its not a fad is around the people side of things. AI generated images don't go around causing trouble and embarrassing corporate advertisers. No apologetic PR campaigns necessary to provide damage control after so and so gets arrested or accused of whatever.

Hi Jeff, thanks for the video. For me, AI generated images is a real dilema. Do I spend time taking useful images or sit in front of my computer for hours making AI generated images? BTW, I got a message for AS saying 'Contributor Firefly bonus added $X. I have a small portfolio of images there as my images have got stuck in a bottleneck for some months now. I also got a very unusual message from them about three of my garden mages saying 'Non compliant use of another artist’s name, Undeclared Generative AI Content and Content not compliant with overall guidelines. I have been submitting those kind of images for quite sometime and had never experienced that. Have you ever had that? Puzzling.

Did you have the name of someone in the prompt or some organization like national geographic in the prompt? If the prompt includes any person, organization or style that might link back in terms of ownership that might be the issue. When in doubt, take a look at the file name of the jpeg before uploading and make it generic. I agree that AI is a dilemma. If it displaces photography I would need to rethink all of this. Thanks!

@@JWhyte123 Thanks Jeff. Yes, one image is of French beans growing and it is in the description. The other is a beautiful rosemary shrub! So, yes, these could be people's names!! However, I've just checked Adobe do have these on their website with same names!! Puzzling.
