The oils are not optional! They are essential for the absorption of the curcumin , plus the blackpepper.

i made this an hour ago. after using the ginger and turmeric, and blending that and straining it, i added some avocado, half of a Valencia orange, half a small apple, honey,
pepper, and some flax, chia, and hemp that i had soaked earlier. the flavor was delicious
and a little body to it... not so watery.

Turmeric is a water soluble so I use a drop of black pepper, to be able to absorb, I love your educated knowledge !

      IS it as good?

@@DMSProduktions Fresh turmeric possesses high amounts of curcumin, dried ground turmeric is a good alternate, however, in the absence of fresh one.
The curcumin concentration in turmeric powder is comparatively lower. On average, powdered turmeric has a concentration of 3.14% curcumin. Unfortunately, this means it might not provide as much potential health benefit. as using fresh but again still a decent option when fresh is hard to come by. Hope this helps.

This sounds great except I can't have pepper at the moment. Is there anything else that helps activate the turmeric, or will the added fats do the job?

Ugh. Black Pepper, or any pepper for that matter upsets my digestion more than gluten does. Wonder how much less effective it is without that gut burning additive.

A friend of mine who, after a very complicated pregnancy and delivery, developd hemorroids was forbidden by her Doc to consume pepper. He said to her, to take the cayenne type, instead. Pepper is a grain, while cayenne, scotch bonnet, etc. are like legumes. And since the later also have 'peperin' as a component, maybe you could switch from black pepper to these.

The black pepper is to help improve absorption. The flavours of the lemon, ginger and turmeric mask it completely however.

Thank you, I think I'm going to make some shots. I thought it was best to make it fresh daily but it would be much easier to mix a lot of stuff at one time. You said a fat was optional but if you want the turmeric to absorb properly for health benefits you have to use a fat. It seems like from all of the videos that I have watched about turmeric that you would be using more of each of the ingredients than you used for that many shots. I just started doing this and I mix all of this together for 1 shot, 2 Tbsp of EVOO then I'm going to add fresh crushed garlic and let that sit for 10 minutes before adding for the most benefit, ½ lemon, 2 tbsp turmeric, and 1/8-1/4 tbsp black pepper which makes the turmeric absorb better, 2 tsp apple cider vinegar, a pinch of cayenne pepper, crushed fresh ginger root, 1 tsp honey, cinnamon, and pink Himalayan salt. Here are a couple of good EVOOs that I found that have over 500 mg of phenols. I saw a video from Dr. Gundy he was promoting his EVOO which comes from the same company that puts his label on his for a lot less. oliviehealth.us/products/olivie-plus-30x This is another co. that I heard about you can get a can with 16 oz for just $22 www.pjkabos.com/ EVOO PJ Kabos family reserve organic - robust, 734 mg/kg phenols, 500ml bottle. You want to make sure if you are taking EVOO daily for health benefits that it has at least 500 mg of phenols. Very few EVOOs have that. I watch a lot of health videos on youtube.

Black pepper and/ or a good fat, I’d even suggest Krill oil are options to increase absorption of turmeric.

I got a lot of my info from Dr. Mandell Motivationaldoc and I did my research. I also add water to my mixture which I left out above.
