I bought the 270WI, there is no going back from here and weighing beans manually is so old school for me now :)
As a taste comparison I had a BES870 with built in grinder, a Breville Smart Grinder and the Baratza 270WI. I put through 18grams of beans (manually weighed) through all grinders and brewed on my Breville Dual Boiler at a 2:1 brew ratio. I repeated this test 3 times. The taste difference was night and day. the espresso using the grinder on the BES870 did not taste good no matter what I did. The smart grinder made a good drop but the espresso from the 270 kept me wanting more. Same beans, same espresso machine, the grinder truly does make a big difference.
Love my Baratza.
My cousin inspires me, he is a home barista like me and we always like to talk about coffee and machine and what is new on the market. I like this baratza grinder, grind size looks consistent and fluffy.
I bought a Gaggia Classic Pro today for my first espresso machine. I needed a grinder that was good but would not break the bank. After watching and reading way too many reviews I decided on this one as good value for money. At some point I can always upgrade after I’ve settled into learning how to make espresso.
Great video Kyle. Thanks for breaking it down to the bottom line. I appreciate it! ☕️👊🏻
Just got a Gaggia Classic Pro. How’s this grinder still treating you? A good match?
The person that gives me the most inspiration is my grandmother. She is 98 and has had a tough life (losing her husband when she was 25 with 9 kids at home. Lost 4 of her kids, etc.) Despite all of that, she is the most positive and happy go lucky person I know. Her outlook on life is the best and has been a guiding principle throughout my life as well. What I look forward to the most these days is for the covid restrictions to be loosen up so that I can finally spend quality time with my family :) Thanks for the great videos. It's fun to see another Canadian producing great content. Cheers from New Brunswick :)
I think a benefit is that if you want the micro adjustment you can get the part from Baratza for $90. So not really missing out by getting the basic 30 first, and its easy to upgrade later.
This comment is so helpful!
I had this question in mind all along! thank u
As a medical student, I am always inspired by senior doctors who share a passion in helping their patients and going the extra mile to make the patient a little more comfortable ((: its amazing
My grandfather and grandmother are my inspiration, they change and adapt, integrate and love a new country so well. I learn new things every time I visit them and I start loving and got into the coffee world with my grandfather, making is coffee every time after lunch and diner
Kyle - you are killing it out here! New set is even more beautiful on camera 🤙🏼
Thank you friend.
My grandfather inspires me. Growing up he tutored me and helped me excel in all my classes, he stayed up countless nights just to make sure I got a concept nailed down or a certain problem completely understood.
One word of warning on the Sette 270: I have owned one for about a two years now and put it through the paces daily. I had very good results with it being a low retention (at most 0.1 to 0.2) single dosing grinder (even at espresso fine) UNTIL the gear box assembly went bad and was replaced. Afterwards, it starting retain 1.0 to 1.5 grams when grinding finer than a setting 20. Static was also now a problem where it had not been before. The RDT technique counteracts the static cling to the underside of the exit chute, but it did not fix the grind retention. If you are okay with purging old coffee or disassembling the lower burr and cleaning it out, this may not be an issue for you. Just do not buy this for a low retention grinder until Baratza fixes this issue. I have spoken to them and they are aware of the problem, but have no solution to date.
The person that inspires me the most is James Hoffman. He's calm, thoughtful, humble and very honest. He's the youtuber who kept me entertained during all this pandemic, who gave me a new way to reconnect with my mother and who helped me really appreciate coffee (although I already liked coffee before). I admire that man a lot and he helped me appreciate the things in my life I was failing to remember I had because of this quarantine.
Coffee has now become the ray of sunshine in my life.
Do keep going, it's great watching a guy as driven and encouraging as you.
I am the reverse. My children inspire me everyday. As they grow into young adults and now one with his own child I see just how their life journeys differ individually but how they embrace life everyday and achieve in their own unique way. They inspire me to live to see them grow.
I’m inspired by my dad. He’s shown me that it’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters. I’ve never met anyone else that gets so much joy from helping others. He continues to be an example to me.
I work in the ski industries and we have a lot of disable customer who come shop for ski and even if they cant walk they always have a smile on their face and are super happy that they still can do the sport they love.
My parents, particularly my mother, inspire me. My mother raised 4 kids, worked full time as a teacher for kids with special needs, worked tirelessly as a health advocate for me, creates community around her wherever she goes, and if my siblings are any indication, she’s done a darned fine job. We're now adults and some of us are parents and we're all close, my siblings are kind, community oriented people and I think that’s in large part to our upbringing. Regardless of winning anything, it’s always nice to share how proud of her I am.
My inspiration comes from my parents. Every day I realize the sacrifices they have made and how much they did with so little.
I have the Sette 30 and recently bought the burr carrier with the micro-adjustment for £70 from Baratza in England. This still works out much cheaper than a 270 and I also got the BG burr.
I like the Sette very much.
My dad inspires me, he works at the hospital and especially during this crazy time its hard work. His continuous great attitude and unconditional giving spirit inspires me every day.
1 thing that inspires me is youtube creators, there are so many great videos of people just giving great information and experiences during the pandemic. The person that inspires me is my parents, with everything going on in the world they are still a rock in my life. 1 thing that keeps me going is being able to travel again and explore the world, it's all I can think about lately and cannot wait until its safe again to do so.
Bringing joy to people keeps me going. My dad and my brother are big inspirations.
Thank-you for the review! I am a just in the process of deciding on my first home espresso set-up, and this was super helpful, as to be honest I hadn't even considered the 30 until today! I want to tell you a bit about my wife who is a constant inspiration. We are first time parents, and I am working from home. I am daily in awe of how she will get up with the sunrise when our daughter wakes up, and gives to much love and energy into making our daughter's day exciting, and special. She will then go and work a 12 hour night shift as a nurse at the children's hospital, where I know she continues to give so much of herself to her patients. She inspires me to be a better father(even when I feel burnt at the end of the day), to be more gracious within my work, and by her very attitude she keeps inspiring me to rise above circumstance and encourage those around me.
My sister inspires me as she helped raise me after my father passed away when I was a young child, to stay strong in my Life and family and not to fall to depression after double suicide in my family.. What keeps me going is to workout and always to keep a hobby to kind my mind clear and fresh, striving in my career is one and also trying to get better at making coffee at home..
Great videos they help a lot thank you
Seriously, anyone who putting effort and publish their video inspire me. There’s always something new and different to learn and share.
One thing that has been keeping me going is the pursuit of knowledge. There is so much out there to learn and it’s been a fun rabbit whole over this year to learn anything you want. People are inspiring as they share there knowledge and experience via books or RUclips.
I'm getting the Sette 30 you convinced me
My friends inspire me. As cliche as that sounds, I see how they all are always grinding at their craft, and it keeps me motivated to move forward and never leave my foot off the pedal.
Love the new set! Looks so clean!
1. The thing that inspires me is bringing joy to people by making them a good cup of coffee and seeing their reaction when they taste actual good coffee, as well as getting people just stoked on specialty coffee in general after teaching them a thing or two.
2. People that inspire me the most are of course my wife and how strong and amazing she is at being a wife and mother to our daughter. Also just the coffee community, there are so many great, supportive and creative people.
3. Biggest thing that keeps me going is being a Dad and husband as well as my relationship with Jesus and living it out to be a light in these dark times.
One thing that keeps me going is safe interaction with large groups of people. I miss live concerts, meeting new people, go to comic conventions and seeing new artists. Seeing people’s passions and supporting them is something that keeps me going
I am inspired by people who tried to stop me or hurt me in any way because that thing made me go forward instead of staying back.
My mother inspires me. She had to deal with moving to America and being the family matriarch and dealing with my dad. I just love her so much.
My mom is one of the most inspiring people I know. Full of hope, compassion, and an endless amount of generosity.
I get inspired by enthusiastic thinkers. Everyone is a thinker, but it's only when they share with enthusiasm that their thoughts reach the audience (and me). And I get inspired by your video, that I can make great coffee at home, which will give a smile on my day.
One thing that inspires me is the craft movement in general we are seeing right now. We have super high quality everything if we just look for it, whisky, beer, coffee, tea, food, cocktails ect ect and they all focus on someone being super passionate about something that manage to make something he loves doing into a career. I really want to open a cafe one day and all these guys living their dream for something they are passionate about makes me think I can do it
Thinkin' about the essential workers keeping the world spinning on the daily is inspiring. Always lifts my spirits and gives me hope.
Kyle, Great videos. I have the Sette 270I and the Breville and you are spot on in terms of what make better coffee - the Sette. Yep, its one loud SOB but its much faster and so the noise does not last. I have played with idea of taking it apart and seeing if a bit noise material could be stuffed in. For inspiration in my life, besides your Kindness Movement, was my college professor when I got of the Air Force. Mari was a tough as they come but insisted that every student achieved in ways they did not think they could. We stayed in contact until she passed away about 10 years ago, but I still hear her talking to me when I face a new challenge.
After watching this video and several others of your videos, really helps clear things up for me.. I've been enjoying espresso since i was 4 with my father and still do till this day.. i find that sitting down with people over a cup of espresso becomes bonding time, along with enjoying the taste and other characters all different beans have to offer. With that said.. im on alittle bit of a mission and competition to make a better cup of espresso then my father who taught me almost everything i know about it, just by him growing up in Italy working at different bars being a batista. He thinks grinders like this wont make a differnce.. if i can get my hands on one. I would love to prove him wrong!!😋
My wife inspires me to keep going and give 100% to all I do - she is a Special Education teacher and this last year has been so difficult for her as an educator but she continues to pour herself out to inspire and help her students be the best they can be!
Thank you for this very practical and helpful video! I have been researching on a good enough espresso grinder to start off with and your video assured me that the Sette 30 is the way to get started with. My mind is set!
I would say it was my dad who inspires me, he grew up at the time when my country was controlled by French and it was my beloved grandfather who introduced the art of coffee to him then him to me. Our life has changed since we moved to US but I admire his knowledge and hardwoking ethic to keep his passion in the art of coffee as well as inspiring me :)
I am inspired by both of my parents because they have showed me how to respect one another, and as I have got older I have learned and saw how much they both have sacrificed for me and my younger brother for us to be where we are today.
Waking each morning as a senior celebrating 78 years on this earth, I am truly inspired by technology. I don’t want to go back to the “good old days”. The ability to instantaneously share social customs, conversations, photos, and opinions truly allows each inhabitant of our earth to be enriched without limitations of politics, religion, or geography.
I’d love to stage a blind taste test between espresso ground with a $500 grinder vs a $150 grinder. At America’s Test Kitchen they were shocked when expert tasters could not tell the difference between coffee made with conical burr grinders vs $15 blade ginders. I smell a lot of phoniness in this hobby, it sort of reminds me of the audiophile thing back in the 60s
@@GriuGriu64 Certain adjustable blade grinders, like the Hamilton Beach Custom Grind can produce consistent grounds, but they don't have the durability of the specialized coffee industry brands.
NO, blade grinders cannot produce a variance in fineness that is required to dial in espresso. This has nothing to do with taste, this is a technical aspect, and is instantly provable. Go take a blade grinder and try to dial in an espresso shot.
The Hamilton Beach Custom Grind cannot do this, no blade grinder can adjust fineness in the μm range due to the way blades work verses burr grinders.
I have the sette 30, and bought a 270 adjustment collar to swap out the original collar. Perfect for single dosing: no need for extra timer memory, or an automatic scale
My son inspires me everyday to be a better person. He is always so kind and selfless to everyone. When he sees someone is hurting, he takes time to comfort and talk to them. We really could use more people like him. I'm extremely proud of him.
Hi Kyle, nice video! I bought the Breville in the US and a friend brought it to Peru, but I never used it because one of my best friends who is in the coffee business needed it to start a project and now I am grinder-less... my aunt has inspired me and still inspires me to be a better person. My passion for the arts and history comes from her. Keep up the good work with your videos!!! Greetings from Peru!!!
Love the intro Kyle!
1) My motivation to be better everyday inspires me.
2) My wife inspires me daily working hard, like nothing has happened!
3) Coffee and the process of making the drinks keeps me going! V60, Aeropress, Pure Over, Espresso etc
Own this, use daily with my flair signature pro 2 and swear by it every sip of tht heavenly cup!
My son inspires me, his joy for life and the way he just gives everything a go no matter what makes me want to be a better dad and person in general.
I am currently studying physics and I'm inspired everyday by people who pursue fundamental knowledge about reality. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to go to college to learn something I genuinely love.
On a side note, I very recently got into making good coffee and your videos are very informative and well produced. Kudos to you!
Not to sound cliche, but it’s content like this that inspires me. Another thing that inspires me is watching women absolutely crushing it in every aspect. I’ve been very fortunate to know some truly incredible women in the coffee world, and they help me keep the passion going.
Also, I love the style of your videos, and I look forward to more!
Hi! I’m from the Philippines 🇵🇭. One thing that inspires me? COFFEE. Yes, it’s coffee. Like all of us here, we love coffee but why does it inspire me? Seeing coffee beans remind me of the hard work we’ve put in in order to be here. Making coffee is relaxing and peaceful, it gives me joy making coffee especially for others. But drinking coffee is another experience, it reminds me of who I am and why I’m here. It’s like a breathe of fresh air, it pushes me to be better and it makes me feel different kinds of emotions. I want to share that experience to others, I want them to be inspired as coffee inspired me.
I’m so in awe of and inspired by my friend. She has some serious chronic health issues but never lets that get her down or stop her from living a full life.
My sister inspires me. She is a speech therapist and has been working through covid in the public schools. The Baratza wins for me because of their repair not throw away philosophy. I like the noise.
Passion inspires me, I am lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful people doing great things with so much passion. It inspires me to be a better person keeps me growing
The thing that inspires me the most is how humans can adopt it every situation even in hard times like this. As a creative, artists like Molly Lemon inspire me! A rich cup of coffee is what keeps me going every day!
My wife inspires me with her endless amount of care and love she has for others. She quite literally cannot let someone be hurting or in bad straits without finding a way to help.
Like many people, my parents inspire me. They came to Canada back in the 70s with nothing and worked hard to be where they are today. I hope I can continue their work eithic and impart that with my kids.
Working outside my home country taught me about life and challenges and while I try to climb over those challenges, I remember my father who worked outside my home country and only comes home 1 or 2 months in a year. He inspired me to be more strong and to depend on myself to get out of sticky situations. I know he had a tougher time than me as he worked in the sea while I am land based.
Kyle- a person that inspires me and keep me going is Omar “crispy” Avila. Iraqi was vet, Purple Heart recipient, survived over 80% body burns and a below the knee amputee. And have undergone over 100 surgeries. Always smiles and tries to have a great attitude at all times. Plus he love damn good coffee!
My dad inspires me to do the best I can in everything I do and he is the one who keeps me going and motivated
My baby just turned one and she inspires me! And nothing feeds the energy of doing everything for her like a good espresso in the morning...and lunch... and afternoon....oh and now that she walks things got even more crazy. Most importantly, now that she's one and does not sleep all day the loud Baratza Sette will be no issue for her LOL. :)
My friend inspires me. She moved by herself all the way to Australia to try something new. That kind of bravery to me is admirable.
I don't understand how you don't have more subscribers. Your production value is really really good! I'm interested in what your actual career is, and do you have an editor or is this something you all do yourself?
Hey man. Just started RUclips in the fall of 2020 so we’ll see what time does. But in the meantime I’m just happy to be here ☺️
Also I edit my own videos.
@@KyleRowsell Honestly I think you could easily make it big in the coffee space. You've got the sweet youtuber setup now with the wall behind you, you've got great production value, you're likeable and confident infront of a camera, and you seem to know a lot about the area you're making content in. Keep going as you are man, I don't see how it couldn't work out for you if you keep it up.
@@devocleb I appreciate that. Even if it doesn’t, my goal isn’t to have big numbers. Simply to help people along this journey called life.
One thing that inspires me this season is finding ways to grow as a person ( and home brewer) and it's great to know that you have friends and family to help you with that.
Thanks for being a blessing to everyone through your content Kyle! Love the new setup btw 💯. Is this the new studio?
My parents inspire me to be kind and thoughtful. We all have the ability to help each other out in even small ways which really can really add up and make the world of difference. Be there for other people and try to do little things to help others.
What inspires me is watching people around me or online, that live in a way or do things that I'd like to do. And thinking about what I need to do to get there as well.
My girlfriend is who inspires me and I just got a breville barista express and coffee has always been what keeps me going lol I’d love to add this grinder to my setup I’m new to espresso brewing at home and eventually would love a new machine but I’m happy with what I’ve started with so far , love your videos keep em coming!!!
My dad inspires me, he works so hard and sacrifices so much for us and never complains despite his health conditions
My father inspires me, he doesn't stop working just to get us by. It brings me great joy to know that I have a model to look up to as I become one as well.
im inspired by people and tinkering with stuff keeps me going. I love learning new skills and coffee is the newest hobby of mine
My father inspires me. He is in his early 90s and grew up in the depression. He had to leave school as a teenager to help support the family and later in life finished his education and became an executive at his company. He worked hard and never gave up.
Kyle, your production quality and content is top notch 👌🏽 your channel is a hidden gem and even more underrated than the Sette 30 in my opinion😜
Home espresso is a niche space for sure. Keep up the great work and I’m looking forward to more vids down the line. Cheers! ☕️
Much appreciated.
What inspires me the most with just about everything in my life is the self-motivation and drive to be the best that I can be. Whether its work-life related or a personal goal I'm looking to achieve, I always try to learn the most I can to get the best overall results and outcomes with just about everything I do. I'm just getting into the world or home espresso machines and perfecting my extracting techniques and hope to have great results with this as well!
I've been very inspired lately by an organization called "Renew the Arts". Their focus is in "liberating Christian creativity". I got to visit a house show (my first concert this year!) and getting to see my friends perform and getting plugged back into that community has been so good for me as a singer-songwriter.
Positivity and self awareness is what's motivating me during this challenging time.
My parents really inspire me. They are pursuing the things that passionate themself.
My main inspiration these days is my late grandfather, who died in August. He was a geologist, and really changed the game in his field. I aspire to help people and inspire them like he did.
Amazing review and thanks for including the Smart Grinder Pro
My parents will be always be the one that inspires me to keep going, I won't be where I am today is it wasn't for them. They never stop encouraging and supporting me to do what I love to do especially my passion about coffee. They always tell me to keep going. 👌
Being in the field of design (a product designer) I’m inspired by photography, architecture, and music. They give me new perspectives outside my realm of expertise and experience to learn about and incorporate into my own designs.
People who create their own businesses and share their experience inspire me to try start a project and keep going!
I've been struggling with my aergrind to dial in (technically its stepless but with such tiny burrs i just dont think its linear). I've been inspired by the community of people that share their passions freely, from aeropress and cafelat robot fans to my other interests (social and technological). Every time I come across anybody who wants to share, geek out a bit, and listen for the same - thats inspiration!
Sette 30 is always the way to go. If you single dose, you don't need the extra time settings of the 270 or the grind by weight of the 270wi. Aaaaaand, you can always order the micro adjustment unit from Baratza and you'll still end up around $100 less than the 270. Settes are also fast. If it's gonna be loud, at least it's over quick.
My wife inspires my whole family, she’s a paediatric nurse doing night shifts, taking care of our little girl while adding more resources to our family. It’s just incredibly how she helps people
This is the video that made me buy the Baratza Sette 30. I bought it for espresso and was pleasantly surprised when I got a incredible pour over grinder at the same time. I really appreciated your honest review of this great grinder. I got it on an Amazon Warehouse deal for $200. Perfect condition, missing the box...lol.
I would like to offer my opinion on the Sette 30 for brew coffee grinds. I am at 19 on the dial for pour overs. Using the masterclass at Tales Coffee and Vincent's Single Pour technique for using a finer grind size to get a better extraction and cleaner cup and I got to be honest with you, I would not look back. I roast my own beans and using a 19 on the Sette 30 I get a really good grind size, perfect extractions and great brew times. Sitting here enjoying a Guatemalan Finca Rosma I roasted 2 days ago...so good.
My apologies if any of this came across negatively.
Glad to hear you're able to brew coffee with the Sette 30!
Great; finding the best taste for any level of wallet is inspiring. I do not know how much Grinder videos I watched in the last days. ;-)
My late grandmother still inspires me. She served others; from community to the church and the family.
I believe The Higher Power speaks to us through intuition. I just purchased my first bonafide Expresso Machine last week (I thought I owned one before, but discovered I was so wrong after five years or so. I'd be surprised if the thing had 1bar of pressure). My new toy may not be the best one out there, but I promise you when I made my first cappuccino with it, I got teary-eyed! It was (to my taste buds) just that good! So, then I set out to replace my blade coffee grinder (please don't judge) with a genuine espresso coffee grinder. Usually when I make a big purchase I research to the point where I'm almost feeling confused and wanting to blow my brans out. Researching coffee grinders was no exception. I finally decided on the Capresso Infinity Plus. It just arrived today. This is where Higher Power came into play. I was very excited to get the notice on my iPhone that the package arrived. I ran to the front door to retrieve it, ran back to the kitchen and ripped the outer box open like it was Christmas all over again; but, something didn't feel right...something made me stop in my tracks, and not fully take it out of its box. Something was telling me this might not be the right grinder. So I went back to my "research," and happened upon this espresso grinder review out of the gate--which for some odd reason I didn't see in my brain-numbing research before. When you, Kyle, said "the coffee grinder truly is the most important piece of tech you can invest in," it just made so much sense to me. Out of all the dozens and dozens of reviews I have watched, yours seem to be coming from a more genuine and accessible place. So, the Capresso is going back... Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I am always inspired by professionals in certain area, which have skills that others at first could not imagine to get,. But due to knowledge sharing from professionals and intensive practising by people who really want to do something they saw, everythings starts to be possible. I am very happy that thorugh that path I have learned a lot to perform, and also it gives me motivation to share skills that I am the best with to others.
Great video. Would love this grinder!! My two sons are what inspire me to keep going day in and day out! Coffee is what allows me to keep up with them!
What inspires me is seeing the good people can do. Whether it's people coming together to help those less fortunate then themselves, animals, or friends who need a hand. To people who follow their passion, whether by posting youtube videos to share that passion and help others in their endeavors or opening business.
What inspires me is travel! I love seeing the world and meeting new people and living life to find new experiences. Btw... great video!
The person that inspires me the most is my Grand Mother, she is 90 and still prioritise other people before her.
I recently came across an awareness video in conjunction with international women's day regarding harassment occured at every corner of the world, which to my surprise happens at multiple countries that i've worked in and thought it was extremely safe because it never happened in front of my eyes. But theres also snippets of ppl who stood up for the victims on the spot at the end of the video, which inspired me and gave me a little kick of courage to stop it from now if such tragedy ever occured before my eyes
One thing that inspires me is the fact of living in a coffee-growing country (Mexico) and being able to contribute greater knowledge and the optimal use of all the coffee in people's lives
Hi , Thanks for a great video, your finding are exactly ours too. We have the Baratza 30 , coupled to a Rocket Appartamento E61 , and it is awsome the most consistant coffee we have ever had at home, really is a fantastic unit.
My father in law inspires me. The man gives his every waking moment to the benefit of others with hardly every any regard for himself.
Baratza sette 30 seems great when paired with my flair pro 2 since I can control the pressure.
Thanks for the great video.
Such a positive tone!
Coffee brings us together all the time and I just love folks who continually do so.
I recently got back into roasting my own beans and I cannot wait to share them with friends, family, strangers, colleagues, and anyone who loves coffee!
I’m incredibly inspired by people who are continually giving to their community behind the scenes. Whether it’s moving the fallen branch off the sidewalk so someone won’t trip or the person who takes meals on the streets to our homeless community. These people connect with their community without fanfare or profit.
If I win - I will donate $300 to Community Tampa Bay. If I don’t, they still get $100.
Oh, and I’ll be sure to be on the lookout for random places to be helpful for my community!
The person who inspires me the most is my mum - She works harder than anybody I know, all while juggling the responsibilities of a mother, a wife, a daughter, and an individual striving for her own goals in life. Even throughout the pandemic, she kept going, and that keeps me going every day
