  • Fitting handbrake shoes to a Volvo 245 wagon from scratch as the old set up was completely removed from the car!
    Check out Ruby's new owner; / @siebendorfer-siebenki...
    At the moment Involvo'd is funded by ad revenue, some very generous Patrons and a dishwashing/delivery job. If you want to support the channel (and get some perks, ie early access to videos, behind the scenes pictures etc, here's a link;

    Wow, buying a parts car for restoration; admirable to say the least. And you do something NOBODY else does: you don’t make everything look unrealistically easy. We can see the actual work, mistakes, struggles, and all. Outstanding. Thanks so much. 👍👍👍👍👍

      @@Involvod I've had my V40 for seven years now and I've been driving it mostly on very long trips.
      No problems apart from the usual stuff; timing belt, brake pads etc.
      These cars have a variable timing sprocket that tends to go bad due to sloppy oil change intervals or just age as mine did when I bought it. Engine sounds like a diesel when ticking over when that happens, but people have been driving around for years with a faulty sprocket without problems.

    When my 740 needed new handbrake shoes, I got my local garage to do the job; I really hate working on drum brakes.

      I don't blame you, I feel the same! Always a dreaded job 😅 But I did find the 700/900 a bit easier than the 200, seems to be a bit more space around around the hub

    Oh the joys of drums inside discs 😄 most Volvos I’ve owned has had them and they’re always a pain, even in good condition the handbrake on the V70 is as much use as a fart in a wetsuit 🤣 At least you didn’t hook your peepers on them and then pretend you didn’t see that… great video dude.

    Great video Mate! I have spent a lot of time figuring out brakes on my car last summer ;D. Also the hand brake mechanism was so rusted that it took me some time to make it work. Of cource I have grinded off the bars too much and couldn't adjust it properly ;D. Eventually I went with the adjusters and that works great :)

    • @Involvod
      @Involvod  2 года назад +2

      It takes some time doesn't it. The adjusters are so great, I normally fit those now it just makes so much more sense!

    • @Honest989
      @Honest989 2 года назад

      Actually, one last question. In the vid you say you have to hook one side of the shoe brake into the notch of the spreader. As there's also a notch on the other side of the spreader, do you hook into that as well with the other side of the break?

    The most horrible fix on a car there is. I'd rather do anything else but rear brake shoes. It's how i almost lost my eye sight, was prying on the spring and the needle nose pliers slipped and went thru my eye lid and hit my eye. No damage but had a headache for 3 days.

    • @Involvod

    Was there much fiddling about to get it right. Like fine tuning adjustments? I've got new cables and shoes and left it to a garage and they installed them but handbreak is still completely ineffective.

  • @hedlund88
