I don't think Billie is much of a hider, she just evolves and changes and grows in an open and honest way. HMHAS is the current version.

I think what opened her up to being this vulnerable is influenced by What Was I Made For… very introspective that hit her and her audience and so that song makes us feel close to her and then she becomes even more a closer “friend” when she exposes her insecurities about maturing in life, love and fame experiences.

Just a guess but Billie said they watched pieces of the Barbie movie and got the assignment from Greta. They were so inspired, they wrote the whole song the next day. And now it’s been a few months and they have their album out. She mentions blocks the last few years. Maybe this inspired her? And off topic but I’m 74 and have followed Billie and bro since Ocean Eyes dropped. Loved music my whole life - Stones, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and now Billie. I’m obsessed!

Billie has been much more vulnerable and authentic about her own feelings in the past and since the beginning of her career even with her own fans she talked to them about everything , now with this huge success since 2019 she stopped but she really wants to be friend with them (she said the same yesterday she went live on Stationhead to talk to us) but with toxic internet and the hate she can’t now .. artistically she has talked about her depression, statutory rape etc (SOO MANY DEEP sad things) in these albums... read the Lyrics from her EP to Happier than ever (album) , lyrically and topically she has been even more vulnerable in the past ..

Her cover of Peggy Lee's "Fever" at the Hollywood Bowl is awesome: and a song like "Xanny", amongst others - I believe - gives us indications of her gifts for jazz - throw in Christian McBride with Billie!

I think you guys should give a listen to her vocal isolation release from the album. Just her vocals. It's very revealing just how much she brings to her craft.

Billie for the variants Etc.. said that artists only think about money and not ALSO about the environment (what she and unfortunately few other artists do) 😅 SHE NEVER SAID that she doesn't use variants and doesn’t do the same because she SAID she does .. she also HAS TO do it for her label, but she also and only uses recycled Etc products at least she does BOTH things, she is TRYING to do the best thing for this world .. she just would like more labels and artists to do the same and support this new era of consuming , and it’s frustrating for her to watch others don’t give a shit and only think about money, we are in 2024 and no one is doing much about the toxicity of that system (MILLIONS of ppl died bc of that 😅). Someone also put BONUS tracks in different variants to push sales of their album, she only made 10 songs and they are always the ones in all variants, production and quantity is the same, what changes is only the color ..

I believe John is off when he says the first half of the album is better than the second half - why did/do you think that? "Bittersuite" [Musical SUITE & Hotel Suite] and "Blue" are awesome - so is "Chihiro" - I think the whole album is another classic by Billie and Finneas, almost comparable to WWAFAWDWG [not quite - that one by 17 yr. old Billie & 21 yr old Finneas is unique] - the two albums are not in competition with one another. I believe "Skinny" is lovely; "Lunch" is fun, captivating for many, and "Birds of A Feather" is super; the GREATEST at its apex is wonderful; I wonder how Sarah McLachlan hears "THE DINER" after being terrorized by a STALKER who later committed suicide; [if I didn't know that, Billie's song would be witty and what - you guys should have the right word for it - sardonic [I doubt Billie knows that word - Finneas would; Billie's vocabulary is expanded by osmosis through Finneas's]. P.S. I really like the Tony Bennett parallel - a song like "Halley's Comet" or even 15 yr.-old Billie singing "idontwannabeyouanymore" shows - I believe - something inside her that is unique/special.

[ June 4, 2024 ] I just discovered your channel for the first time with this piece on Billie Eilish and the closing song from Lorde "Writer in the Dark" which is terrific - new to me. 1 question - perhaps of a sort you don't deal with: listening to reactions to "Hit Me Hard and Soft" - one channel LIVING LIFE FEARLESS on May 24, 2024 in review of "Birds of A Feather" believes it is so similar to Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" that it may be plagiarism and this REACTOR wouldn't be surprised if a lawsuit will be coming. I have not heard such a thing from another Reactor or Reviewer - and this person expresses this with certainty. I listened to Bleeding Love - very nice song, but I don't see the borrowing. Have the two of you or anybody you know heard of such a possible borrowing of melodies by Finneas and Billie? [I have never heard of them borrowing -i.e., plagiarizing from any source, though they have many influences ]

I always hated the production over her voice bc her voice was the real magic in her EP 😅 and Finneas almost destroyed that for me with her first 2 albums but this time I liked her voice more and probably bc Finneas is less involved over her voice.. like they said Billie did more work in this album alone than in the past.. Billie Credits: Songwriter, composer, Synth, Keyboards, vocal editor (she composed and edited all her vocals by herself‼️), she recorded / sampled all the sounds you can hear in the background and engineer.
And this is important in her evolution artistically, she was a kid before and like she said she was shy and not comfortable enough to do more things only by herself (she doesn’t have self esteem artistically and this is Finneas/her family fault bc they didn’t give her time to grow artistically without help .. bc she was a kid (13 y old) when she signed with that label after Ocean eyes went viral and it had success 😅) i mean she can write songs (she has solo written songs) and she can play 3-4 instruments (she can do more than most other female pop artists do😅) but the production is another thing and now she is doing more and more bc she is growing up and learning ( she produced some songs in the past too like in the Bad guy and What was I made for Etc but now she is doing more)… Finneas said he was watching her working this time more alone and he gave her more space and time artistically and she did more stuff only by herself. Finally 😅👍🏻

I wouldn’t say it was her family’s “fault”. This enormous thing (fame), happened to them both while they were just having fun making music. Billie has said she’s never felt comfortable writing and now that she is growing into her own, she has developed self esteem. Finneas supports her in her endeavors, even in their live performances, you can see him encouraging and applauding her. It took her time to develop and hone her abilities. Let’s not characterize it as her family holding her back and it being anyone’s fault it took until now.

The conjecture of a Billie + TS feud is entertaining to the youth whom are primarily bored living parasocial relationships with their faves bc their frontal lobes have yet to fully develop. I’m curious to know why reporting on stan wars whose age demo are primarily teens to young adults that are speaking on behalf of their faves with no real exchange bw the actual artists. Blind misogyny permeates across all socio-gender/sex identity politics.

i don't think it's that deep. there were no bad intentions here. it would be more weird if they avoided altogether the factually new subject matter on a very candid song like "lunch" from one of the biggest artists of these times. i reject the whole "you can't speak on this topic because you're not a representative subject of the topic" mindset. it doesn't mean they can't be criticized, just not silenced, like a lot of people seem to want. i also think it's patronizing to bring in a guest voice for one bit of a conversation. it's one song, the whole album doesn't have queer overtones. maybe do that for a whole queer project, but i could see them getting criticized for doing what you said for only one song and then, "ok, thanks, bye". unless they sort of structured it like "jokes seth can't tell". also, billie is unlabeled. she said, "i like boys and girls leave me alone please literally who cares". she has not thus far stated she's a lesbian, bisexual, or even queer. peace.
