@@icephoenix5466 Why wouldn't the Huawei last? their phones lasted me years and didn't slow down like Samsungs, I was thinking their laptops would be just as good
@@houssamalucad753 I have been building my own computers since the 1980s. Being able to switch out specific parts that need to be changed has allowed me to only buy 4 computers since the 80s. All of my other upgrades have been incremental changes to those machines. Need video capture, add a card, need a faster graphics card, switch it, require additional ram, easy! My last laptop allowed me to switch the solid state drive for a bigger one, add ram, replace the CD drive with a second ssd. I took advantage of all of those options and kept the laptop running for 6 years. I used it with an external monitor keyboard and mouse after the battery died for a couple of years too. At which point I built another desktop from parts I had laying around. Now that I have said all this out loud into my voice recognition I realized that I don't want one of these new laptops because they won't last as long without the ability to do similar upgrades. I'm sticking with the desktop.
that was exactly what I was thinking, and the're also working on x86 emulation with ARM, so that's probably how they were able to engineer these boards sooo small to make enough room for the battery.
Not really, x86 still has got alot of potential, their efficiency wasn't great until 10th gen, they r doing remarkably better in mid performance to efficiency charts with every generation
@FactsBeFacts I'm not detached from reality mate. I own a 12th Gen i7 VivoBook and a Ryzen 5000 series ThinkPad, and multiple times, I've been able to use Apple silicon, so I'm definitely not detached. Not once did I mention performance in my original comment. It's impressive the power AMD packs in for very little power draw relative to Intels efforts, and I absolutely love my AMD laptop, but by design, there's no beating the efficiency of ARM. It might not be as powerful in some cases, and use case is entirely dependent on your apps and whether they work better on x86 or ARM. My case is already starting to be proven with these new Copilot+ PCs. Thin and light, and I'm sure they'll be powerful enough for most tasks.
But is no difference for Huawei. They just get banned for using the Intel and Qualcomm chips. Soon even Windows will ban them. While that may not be a huge problem (Huawei will anyway start this year to run on HarmonyOS for laptops as well) the chips are a problem. Intel was crap anyway (draining the battery life and throttle) but Qualcomm banning its a huge issue. They cant use the new Elite chips on ARM. I think this will be the last Huawei laptop for US and EU markets. They still have a lot of chips from Intel to cover the sales for about a year. But after that they have no chips yet to compete.
I had a 2018 for several years, probably my favorite windows laptop I've ever owned. Right up there with the XPS...best alternatives to a macbook in my opinion.
13mm thick?? That's literally 3mm thinner than the watch I'm wearing right now. I look forward to keeping one of these out of a landfill for $100 when someone gets sick of it for no reason in a few years.
The M1 MBA exists, soooo. They made it so good, that even the M2, M3 and soon M4 can not compete, too expensive. As long as Intel inside is on the sticker, you can forget about the battery and that is the most important component. Together with the price.
Yes,maybe, soon. But is the improvement as good at intel to M1? Or will it be as good then double the price to the M1? Is the average user going to notice? I do not know anyone that would trade the MBA M1 for anything at tis point for this price
I was about to pre-order a copilot+PC laptop but saw the articles on copilot recall than your video got recommended. Thanks for giving me another option beside macOS
I don´t know. Looks great but for that money, it better does. However, the battery life is not really impressive, it got fans, and no MacOS. I use a $700 MacBookAir and yes, no touchscreen (do not have use for it) but best keyboard and touch pad, great sound, headphone jack and most importantly, battery for days. And I got used to MacOS and will not have Windows again. Got an iPad as second screen and stand alone when the MacBook is not needed and everything was just over half of this Huawei. Is the touchscreen, 0.8" bigger screen and massive storage nearly $1000 more worth it? Oh, I just tested, 1min Video conversion into portrait tik tok was in 18sec done. On battery. That makes no difference on the Mac.

They do a i7 with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD for about £1200. Or you can always wait until they announce the 2025 version then these laptops go on sale and this i9 version will sell for around £1300.
i am convinced enough to change from insanely expensive apple Eco-system to Huawei Eco-system after watching enough Videos about all their Products and being a user of the amazing Mate 20 pro Phone
The 2018 version had an m2 drive and thermal issues hat caused bluescreening. After replacing the m2 drive, battery (5 years later), and in a custom power plan to throttle the CPU to keep heat down, its still working today.
This thing is pretty impressive in person. Head scratching thing about it, is that it has no pen support, which the lower model does. For a business all-in-one laptop, it would've been perfect if you could sign docs with a digitizer, but as always, they gotta screw up somewhere.
