This Is Why I Like Obituary.

- Every time I wear my beloved Obituary t-shirt I get comments from people surprised that I like them, or they think I'm just wearing for fashion reasons not musical taste. This might surprise you, but I listen to Obituary and my favourite song is "Chopped In Half".

Watching Jusin genuinely enjoying Obituary is the best thing on the internet today.
It is....haha
Feeling the same.
it made me enjoy it, and i'm not a fan of this kind of music ordinarily.
absolutely!
I used to have a couple of Obituary tees back in the 90's.
I find that the darker types of metal (death, black, doom, drone) makes me focus better. I can't listen to anything and study, I get distracted by hooks, lyrics, whatever is considered "mainstream catchy" in some way. Had to add mainstream because black metal definitely is catchy to me, but it takes my mind on a different type of journey. Anyways, my favourite death metal band as of late is Nails, check it out! Great video!
Been following this channel for a few months now, and I'm so fucking stoked to see you're into this sorta stuff. Death Metal is the most exicting sub genre of heavy music right now with the NEW WAVE OF BRITISH DEATH METAL and all the new bands coming out all over the world. Blood Incantation, Gatecreeper, Undeath, 200 Stab Wounds, Frozen Soul, Faceless Burial...
Fuck I love death metal.
Nice shirt
Hey JH fans, if you're into this music, check out the Philosopher by Death. Awesome tune.
Hey up chuck👋Have you ever played a Tokai Strat from the 80s? Had the pleasure of working with one as a tech back in the nineties. Sweet guitar and the epitome of Japanese guitar er “Making” at its finest.👍
Tremblewanger would be a great album title. Or Band title.
As a huge death metal fan and regular channel viewer I wasn’t expecting this crossover. Nice stuff
literally same
@@carlosvonbismarck1217😂 1000% watch all time an love obituary wasn’t expecting this
Justin, according to a website with a "Today in Rock (October 11)" it stated, "In 2006, singer Justin Hawkins announced that he left The Darkness to focus on his drug rehabilitation." I just wanted to say thanks for taking that step. I'm glad you're still around.
Im sure that's exactly what he wanted to be reminded of today
@@joeyobee32 Actually, I think it is, "exactly", the kind of thing he'd get a kick out of being reminded of 🤘🏼
I imagine he is very happy to be reminded of it. He is back with The Darkness and has been sober for years. We are extremely proud of him and happy he realizes he needed help or would not be around to entertain.
Such an amazing accomplishment! Who wouldn't love to be reminded of it!
@@danielwatson7319 I have found that a lot of people who have found sobriety are happy to be able ro help and encourage others that are struggling. Look at Nikki Sixx. He is always reaching out and talking to people that are struggling. I think acknowledging this anniversary for Justin is good. Most people celebrate their sobriety birthdays. We are glad he is still here doing these videos and entertaining us! I'm thankful he is!!
Justin, I love your channel dude. I remember being 10-11 in Glasgow watching the Darkness live and you flying onto the stage on a giant pair of breasts, now I'm 30 and watching you analyse Obituary. Shits neat.
I took my 11-year-old son to see The Darkness as his first gig this year. He said it was his best day ever.
"The rotting waste comes out 'cher ears." Maybe? J-Hawk, your channel is a breath of fresh air in the YooChoob wasteland. You prove time and again that a tatted Rock Star can be intelligent, humble, well-spoken, self-deprecating, truly informative and FUNNY all at the same time. Thank you for doing this, good sir. You are a national treasure.
I respectfully disagree. He is an INTERnational treasure.
Greetings from Germany 😁
I vote for international Justin Hawkins day. Closely followed by international Frankie Poullain day (not to be confused with international bass player of the year day, which he wins by default every year anyway).
I always thought it was 'with rotting ways comes destiny... Feel it slowly taking over... BLEEED'
So much fun as a kid making up lyrics for this.
There's proper inspiration here for death metal rag-time with a good solid disco beat and a clap track.
Reminds me of a RUclips vid that took away the distortion of Black Metal and made it sound like Surf Rock
Needs tambourine.
Bee Gees with blast beats?
As the drummer in a death metal band and fan of this channel, I thank you. Brilliant analysis.
As a very casual metal fan, I’d never actually heard Obituary so thank you for this! I get to see you in Brisbane next week and I can’t wait. Keep killing it man!
Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi🙏🌏💙
Check out Six Feet Under!
@@fearvo No, DON'T!!!!!!
Finally somebody who listens to death metal the same way as I do via dance moves and hand claps
Man I love this channel. Justin has great taste in music, knowledge and humour.
I fucking LOVE that I have found your Channel… I took me a minute to figure out who You are, and It has Got me going in a The Darkness Hole … You are full of suprises and I love that so thank you
Now you need to do Ghost of Perdition by Opeth!!!😍
I'd love to hear him do Opeth - Drapery falls
@@ReanimatorsMutilations that'll also be exciting, for sure!
Obituary on an acoustic guitar is probably the last thing I thought I'd ever hear
Lol! So true! Justin commits sacrilege!
I remember reading a magazine article which Trevor Perez said "I don't see an acoustic guitar being on an obituary album ever. Ever."
Justin, can you start a wardrobe channel where you try on different fits from your collection for us? I imagine you have massive walk-in closets as you wear a different ensemble in every video and you've posted millions of videos already. Thanks!
"get used to flicking it off" wouldn't expect anything less from the man who wrote "don't let the bells end" lmao
Trem wanger is the new name
...and not to forget "just let them ring in peace" 😆😂👍
Tremble Wanger!
That's James Murphy, formerly of Death, playing on lead. He's one of my favorite parts of Cause Of Death.
His two solo albums are so damn good.
If you say "Tremble Wanger" enough it shall come to be!
Obituary - The End Complete was my first proper death metal album. However Slowly We Rot is easily their best work in my opinion. A classic debut of American death.
That ‘AGAIN’ just made my day 😂
I know, me 2‼️🖤
Me 3!!
Hilarious 😂
Respect! The Obituary boys are still keeping it real ( and un-fused), such an excellent live band and John Tardy, a brilliant example of using your voice as a rather unique instrument.
This might be a purely subjective and hyperbolic opinion, but RUclips was invented for the sole purpose unleashing this vid on the multiverse.
I love that anytime someone talks to Justin they're doing an over the top Mick Jagger impression. Must make life an absolute hoot.
7:54 best thing ever! Wait... it's 9:03. Nope, 9:08. Ok, it's probably 8:00.
Nice. I've always heard that line as 'With rotting ways comes Destiny'. Cause of Death is a great album ;)
James Murphy…what a great lead guitar tone on that album!
Yup...Murphy was solid
yeeeeas!
Hell yeah!! His solo on the Testament song Trail of Tears could be the single greatest solo in metal history!!!!
One of the GOATs
So glad to now be able to accommodate 'tremblewanger' into my outmoded guitar phraseology... another excellent intro to new stuff to bring added joy to my existence (and I mean that!) thanks.
From this day on, you shall be called tremblewanger that is to be called tremblewanger
I never knew I needed a Justin Hawkins OBITUARY acoustic cover so badly until today. LOl
Slayer - Angel of Death is one of my all time favs, Public Enemy sampled it in She Watched Channel Zero. Such a classic hard track.
Line dancing death metal could be a thing if we believe it.
This video has it all. Carry on with the tremble wanger fiddly do. It’s an art form.
I freaking love death metal ragtime. How can you deny the power? 😁🤘🏻
I am also particularly fond of the black metal smooth jazz fusion coming out lately. Really cutting edge stuff. 🤗
Black metal smooth jazz fusion? Bet you'll like Imperial Triumphant feat. Kenny G 😛 ruclips.net/video/ywcshfrpO3A/видео.html
it's not clapy-clapy, death metal is tupah-tupah.
The smiling and clapping along to the death metal blast beats may be one of my favorite things ever lol
Every time Justin said “stop it” I was laughing and then his input was just so perfect, just saying “stop it” turns me into a 12 year old boy and I love Justin so much for it. Not many things to just stupidly laugh about these days.
Thanks for owning some death. Memento Mori. We die and death metal is a genre that exemplifies that as close as I want to know. It’s fun along the way. I would suggest early Morbid Angel and that’s about all.
Keep 'em coming Justin mate, you're a great music reviewer/explainer/appreciater/dissector. A lot of music critics could take a few leaves out of your book.
2:01 “proposed fusions of Death Metal and…….Rag Time.”
You, sir, are an alchemist of music. An alchemusicist. Brilliant, as always.
I'm from NW Florida and back in my day the Florida Metal scene was on fire! I was always on the punk side of things but a lot of those bands came through our town and totally kicked ass! People were coming out of the mosh pit with missing teeth and dislocated noses!
Man as a 16 year old Aussie kid I imagined Tampa Florida was the most magical place in the world and it was a town full of nothing but Metal heads !
I desperately wanted to go .
Really enjoyed this one as a death metal fan for the last 20 odd years. Obituary are awesome! So good live!
Infected is also an awesome song from that same album. This is the only death metal album I owned back then. Didn't know it was held in such high regard. Makes sense, it's rad.
I listened to this and the Paradise Lost album Icon on repeat for a whole sad 90s summer. It was great.
"Icon" is classic! "Embers Fire" is my go-to car singalong song.
Love it when songs make good use of the tremblewanger
One unequivocal truth is that sometimes - just sometimes - the tremble needs wanging.
😂🤣😂so true.
This is great. I love "cause of death". James Murphy just absolutely made the lead on that album. Regular guitarist Adam west (who wasn't involved in this album) of course went on to form Six Feet Under with former cannibal corpse singer, Chris Barnes as well as with former Death bassist, Terry Buttler.
I really respect how diverse your taste in music is. Getting stuck in a rut with what you listen to is a sure-fire way to stifle creativity.
@Jonontoast Yes 😉
Hey J-Hawk, I would love to see you break down the I Believe in a Thing Called Love music video. You may have already done this but I didn't see it when scrolling through the videos on your channel. Thanks
Great video, I’ve never heard of obituary before but it’s now enticed me into exploring their music and to try and seek someone to flick me off.
Should start with End Complete its their most accessible album and work from there
I love the darkness song "heavy metal lover"
I'm quite partial to a little Death Metal/Skiffle crossover myself. Lonnie Donnegan could wail when he wanted.
Donald Tardy drummed with Andrew W.K. for a few years, proving he's not just a one dimensional player.
Crazy that Death Metal comes from from sunny South Florida.
Death was amazing too.
Hello Justin. There was recently a re-release of two live Dio albums DIO at Donigton 82 and 87. Are you a DIO fan? (assume you are) would you do a reaction. I think his voice is actually better or the production is better from 87. Also interesting how the different guitarists approach the same songs.
People are weirded out by the fact that a musician likes music in the comments ? People judging others by their own yardstick revulse me. If you truly like music, there is something in every genre for you, if you don't know that by now, question your curiosity.
Excellent video. 🤘👏
Perchance, have you any thoughts on Bolt Thrower? 🙂
Love the fact you're an Orbituary fan, personally prefer Slowly we Rot, but this was a banger as well.
At the time, all metal albums had lyrics. It added a genuine sense of mystery, and the vocals were in a league of their own. Classic album. Great vid, on point.
I would love to know Justin thoughts on Savatage. Specifically, the songs "Gutter Ballet" and "Edge of Thorns."
Do Entombed, Do Entombed :D
Justin you really make me laugh 🤣
I’ve never heard of the band, but only you could introduce me to them! Thank you sir.
7:07 Lol. I really dig your content man!
Obituary is fun. Death is my favourite death metal band.
😂 deciphering metal lyrics was a fun past time for my buddies and I when we were younger. This was a great video!
Cause of Death and Slowly We Rot are the two best albums in their catalog imo
Frozen in Time is right there with them.
@@ThePsychedelicCinemano, it isn 't, it is much much weaker
I have the same t-shirt and my daughter loved it and zombies since she first saw it, 5 years old (not 100% sure the corpse is a zombie, but whatever). Obituary. Excellent reliable death metal.
Anyone else getting Ace Ventura Cannibal Corpse Scene vibes?
Well thank you for taking a visit to Florida today! We’re happy to have you. We’re actually nice people down here! The sun tends to bake your brains a bit. That explains the double bass drums…
I'm surprised you look like you're at home when you're definitely in Australia.
Obituary has what all great music has to have - groove.
Great show last night in melb. Your front of house guy Nails it
that look implied someone got your other obituary shirt dirty. who did it? who hurt you?
End complete is amazing. I bought the tape at the same time as tori amos first album. Record shop guy was real confused… Concrete sledgehammer riffs like no other. No filler, every track a monster 👿
Justin Hawkins, the answer is time and money. Time and money.
I have seen metal bands work, seems very demanding on the body. 🤔
Death Metal and Ragtime fusion. 🤣😂
Somebody please come out with a Dragtime Metal song. 🤘
Surprised 'The End Complete' is their best selling, though believe it was their first album with a proper music video, would have thought 'Cause' or 'Slowly'.
I remember an industry article back in the day before the days of Soundscan about how Obituary, Morbid Angel, and Cannibal Corpse were shipping so many records. Within the next few years you had Warner distributing Metal Blade Records and picking up Morbid Angel for US Distribution through a sub label. Sony/Columbia picked up Earache Records distribution. It was so great to see major labels make it so much easier to get stuff. Though admit I was still importing lots of stuff because it would come out earlier in Europe in the pre-internet days.
'ere, Jus... how you play that them thar theme tume, danke! x
The "cat screaming" comment made me spit my tea all over my monitor. LOL
You might like some of the NEW WAVE OF BRITISH DEATH METAL bands...
Celestial Sanctuary, Vacuous, Slime Lord, Vaticinal Rites, Mortuary Spawn...
FUCK YEAH
Best thing about this band is that everyone still has an amazing head of hair
Best music show around! It’s like I’m just hanging with one of my buds.
Cause Of Death is a classic Death Metal record, Trevor Pères has a killer distinctive guitar tone that I love, you always know its him
Justin just saw you guys live in Melbourne last night! Blown away!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hey Justin, I dare you to re-name this video “Flicking off my tremble-wanger” 😂 pretty please! 🙏🏻 If that doesn’t get you views, I don’t know what will! 😁
😂😂😂
I heard you are a Lewis Cole fan. Have you reviewed Clown Core? I recommend “Van”.
Also, I'm calling all tremolo/whammy bars tremblewangers from now on
James Murphy guitar insanity!
Obituary are amazing groove is so sick
With rotting ways comes destiny...
Love that beat up dual humbucker Strat.
Jus, get an adblocker already, mate!
Justin, I want to know what you think of Frank Turner
Love it! Welcome to Australia, Justin. I wonder if you like the music of The Church? Would love to see a react to their new release 'Hypnogogue'
I absolutely love The End Complete
Hey Justin!
We (AmsterdamKLM and me, 2 guys from Italy and Germany) are massive Fans of your little show here and your music as well oc. We are wondering if the cute Chicken in the background has a name you call it by? If not, would you mind to call it Val? That would make our day. Thanks and keep on riding. xoxo
Totally agree! That chicken deserves it! 😁
