Justin, according to a website with a "Today in Rock (October 11)" it stated, "In 2006, singer Justin Hawkins announced that he left The Darkness to focus on his drug rehabilitation." I just wanted to say thanks for taking that step. I'm glad you're still around.
I imagine he is very happy to be reminded of it. He is back with The Darkness and has been sober for years. We are extremely proud of him and happy he realizes he needed help or would not be around to entertain.
@@danielwatson7319 I have found that a lot of people who have found sobriety are happy to be able ro help and encourage others that are struggling. Look at Nikki Sixx. He is always reaching out and talking to people that are struggling. I think acknowledging this anniversary for Justin is good. Most people celebrate their sobriety birthdays. We are glad he is still here doing these videos and entertaining us! I'm thankful he is!!
"The rotting waste comes out 'cher ears." Maybe? J-Hawk, your channel is a breath of fresh air in the YooChoob wasteland. You prove time and again that a tatted Rock Star can be intelligent, humble, well-spoken, self-deprecating, truly informative and FUNNY all at the same time. Thank you for doing this, good sir. You are a national treasure.
I vote for international Justin Hawkins day. Closely followed by international Frankie Poullain day (not to be confused with international bass player of the year day, which he wins by default every year anyway).
As a very casual metal fan, I’d never actually heard Obituary so thank you for this! I get to see you in Brisbane next week and I can’t wait. Keep killing it man!
I fucking LOVE that I have found your Channel… I took me a minute to figure out who You are, and It has Got me going in a The Darkness Hole … You are full of suprises and I love that so thank you
So glad to now be able to accommodate 'tremblewanger' into my outmoded guitar phraseology... another excellent intro to new stuff to bring added joy to my existence (and I mean that!) thanks.
Respect! The Obituary boys are still keeping it real ( and un-fused), such an excellent live band and John Tardy, a brilliant example of using your voice as a rather unique instrument.
Justin, I love your channel dude. I remember being 10-11 in Glasgow watching the Darkness live and you flying onto the stage on a giant pair of breasts, now I'm 30 and watching you analyse Obituary. Shits neat.
At the time, all metal albums had lyrics. It added a genuine sense of mystery, and the vocals were in a league of their own. Classic album. Great vid, on point.
Keep 'em coming Justin mate, you're a great music reviewer/explainer/appreciater/dissector. A lot of music critics could take a few leaves out of your book.
Every time Justin said “stop it” I was laughing and then his input was just so perfect, just saying “stop it” turns me into a 12 year old boy and I love Justin so much for it. Not many things to just stupidly laugh about these days.
Well thank you for taking a visit to Florida today! We’re happy to have you. We’re actually nice people down here! The sun tends to bake your brains a bit. That explains the double bass drums…
8:15 has always been one of my favorite transitions. Its straight butter and subtle. Kudos to the mix for letting that bass line run clean through it too. Heard them on college radio station back in the day. Bought it the next day. This was my second death metal album after The Bleeding. Good days those were.
Caught your show In Melbourne last night. Took My Daughter too, who's just returned from playing with her band and living in London. She loved the show. I loved the show. Fucking good show! Fucking good night! So yeah, thanks man! And this RUclips channel is quality entertainment and info.
Obituary - The End Complete was my first proper death metal album. However Slowly We Rot is easily their best work in my opinion. A classic debut of American death.
Justin, can you start a wardrobe channel where you try on different fits from your collection for us? I imagine you have massive walk-in closets as you wear a different ensemble in every video and you've posted millions of videos already. Thanks!
I'm from NW Florida and back in my day the Florida Metal scene was on fire! I was always on the punk side of things but a lot of those bands came through our town and totally kicked ass! People were coming out of the mosh pit with missing teeth and dislocated noses!
Man as a 16 year old Aussie kid I imagined Tampa Florida was the most magical place in the world and it was a town full of nothing but Metal heads ! I desperately wanted to go .
I freaking love death metal ragtime. How can you deny the power? 😁🤘🏻 I am also particularly fond of the black metal smooth jazz fusion coming out lately. Really cutting edge stuff. 🤗
almost sounds like a good flamenco show in a dark Sevillan tavern the way you do it. Really love your talent discovering beauty even when roaming the darkest corners of the musical universe. Thanks for the ride.
Was never super into the death metal genre, but, Obituary always stood out to me. There was a lot more going on beneath the surface with them that you didn't always hear in other death metal bands.
This is great. I love "cause of death". James Murphy just absolutely made the lead on that album. Regular guitarist Adam west (who wasn't involved in this album) of course went on to form Six Feet Under with former cannibal corpse singer, Chris Barnes as well as with former Death bassist, Terry Buttler.
Thanks Justin, you could talk politics, religion or anything and I'd be just as enthralled. Respect from Melbourne Australia 🙏🌏💙 See you on the ICE, in Oz soon.
Infected is also an awesome song from that same album. This is the only death metal album I owned back then. Didn't know it was held in such high regard. Makes sense, it's rad. I listened to this and the Paradise Lost album Icon on repeat for a whole sad 90s summer. It was great.
End complete is amazing. I bought the tape at the same time as tori amos first album. Record shop guy was real confused… Concrete sledgehammer riffs like no other. No filler, every track a monster 👿
As I am pretty new to this channel, this is my favourite morning coffee entertainment as I go through all your video's. You're the first face I see in the morning so that says a lot about how good this is as I am not the morning kind of person. Keep it up mate! You're putting a smile on my morning face!
Obituary, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, amongst others, were on my rotation in my formative years. Good to hear you still spin Obituary every now and again.
This is great ( as was your breakdown of the Nita Strauss, ALissa White-Gluz recent video). Chopped In Half is wicked! LOL Love watching your take on all things. You sir, are brilliant. Cheers from Ontario, Canada. - johnny.
This video displays that as glorious as listening to Justin react to music is, WATCHING Justin react to music is perhaps equally as glorious. I would watch a nonverbal physical reaction video from very few, Justin Hawkins is one of those very few.
Justin, you're just pure joy. You have such an appreciation for all things music, with no hint of elitism or gatekeeping. You have great insight on many different viewpoints and provide a breath of fresh air to the toxicity of the internet. You're amazing! Much love Also, please review Lorna Shore - Sun Eater
Was about to say I was surprised you’re wearing an Obituary shirt then you beat me to it! Seen Obituary a couple of times at Bloodstock. Were very tight!
Lol! So true! Justin commits sacrilege! I remember reading a magazine article which Trevor Perez said "I don't see an acoustic guitar being on an obituary album ever. Ever."
So cool to watch you doing some tremelo work. Agreed re playing without an amp. Is a great thing to slip into a practice routine, really helped me tighten up my playing and focus on keeping it clean. Nice one sir, thanks.
Saw your show last night man, you guys rocked! Thanks so much for coming out and welcome to Aus :) (and by the third song we'd totally forgotten about the 'glitch in the matrix' -and my gosh your vox are still ridiculous!) Also, thanks for all these great clips, you're the best.
has a metalhead, I follow this channel as a way to open my views on other types of music, specifically pop and pop rock, so I had a great time watching this video! Also I learned I new guitar technique: the "Flick off"!
Thanks - been waiting to see if you ever got around to metal - next time you circle round could you please do Jinjer (pick a song, any song, but maybe not Pisces cos everyone does that and you're not "everyone" 😆)
Watching Jusin genuinely enjoying Obituary is the best thing on the internet today.
It is....haha
Feeling the same.
it made me enjoy it, and i'm not a fan of this kind of music ordinarily.
absolutely!

Check out Six Feet Under!
@@fearvo No, DON'T!!!!!!
There's proper inspiration here for death metal rag-time with a good solid disco beat and a clap track.
Reminds me of a RUclips vid that took away the distortion of Black Metal and made it sound like Surf Rock
Needs tambourine.
Bee Gees with blast beats?
I fucking LOVE that I have found your Channel… I took me a minute to figure out who You are, and It has Got me going in a The Darkness Hole … You are full of suprises and I love that so thank you

I love that anytime someone talks to Justin they're doing an over the top Mick Jagger impression. Must make life an absolute hoot.
The smiling and clapping along to the death metal blast beats may be one of my favorite things ever lol

I took my 11-year-old son to see The Darkness as his first gig this year. He said it was his best day ever.
I never knew I needed a Justin Hawkins OBITUARY acoustic cover so badly until today. LOl
Finally somebody who listens to death metal the same way as I do via dance moves and hand claps

James Murphy guitar insanity!
