I totally agree! My husband's followed Justin for a while now, kept telling me "what a great guy" he is, but I started following him after watching his reaction video to Ren, but it's Justin's character, humanity, intelligence and humour that's kept me here. xx
so lucky to be alive in an era where its possible to have such an access to your idols and favourite artists, thanks for sharing your thoughts and reflections, you are a truly unique person and an inspiration. Break a leg on the Tour, hopefully while doing a dance macabre down the spillways of your soul. 💖💛💚
Superb as always Justin, up to Cardiff tomorrow to see your yourselves and black stone cherry. Going to be an awesome evening as always. Brilliant stuff mate see you tomorrrow. ❤🥳🤘🏻
You are simply fabulous. I just discovered you; I'm not a rocker save the stuff I devoured in the 60's so do not keep up with the last few decades, of greats, haha. I so enjoy your articulate, lovely nature. I love the fact that you say, "It is I." Correct and uncommon. Yep, I'm a bit of a language snit. Some of the riffs in your introduction piece make me think that you would be a great flamenco player. Not the "Flamenco light" (that is heard in Starbucks coffee shops: polished and cookie-cutter, mad-making rhythm spat out by a machine), but the real, gritty, raw stuff of the art of flamenco. The deliberate flat tuning of the high "e" chord. The intensity. The emotion. It is not many who might understand the "whatever it is" that a flamenco player, singer, and dancer must have, right in the cells and soul, which the proud gitanos (gypsies) call the "duende" -- a ghosty, spirited, magical little monster of sorts...perhaps the perfect monster of true passion... (pronounced dwén-deh) Anyway, I am a singer and I do a lot of material in Spanish. I would, however, never presume to sing flamenco, as I am not blessed with that flamenco duende that is an absolute requirement for assuming the right to perform this intimate, very culture-specific music. I think that you have the duende. Would love to hear you do flamenco. I shall dream. Meanwhile I will continue enjoying your videos and lovely countenance and "vibe." Perhaps you already know and do this already...I’ll have to find out. So happy to have come upon you. Many cheers.
your so right! my mother was trying to purchase " permission to land " forme for Christmas but couldn't find it . come out w more vinyl so people can buy it lol!
Open Fire!! YES!! I’ve been looking everywhere for Justin talking about the reason for the different vocal style for that tune! I absolutely love it!!! Kinda sucks it tore up his vocal chords. Which, btw, answered me other question as to why he hasn’t done that style on other tunes or sing the song like that live. Huge THANK YOUS to Chester! And, of course to Justin!
How about a justin & Dan Hawkins ride again or possibly for the first time episode? It would be cool to see a back & forth episode where you discuss music & and how, if so, your differences or similarities help forge the creative process of former & future records.
I have always loved your songwriting and didn't anticipate you being such a really cool guy. I got dumped and got sober last year and had to to a lot on my own but you having a daily podcast gave me a positive way to start my day. I finally got covid but you made it bearable. Thank you, for real. I love ya.
What a wonderful person Justin is I knew that you would be. Because, whenever I felt down, one of my go to songs was "A things called love". The song and the attitude/ humour in the performance/ optimism of it, always lifted my spirits and sort of took me out of taking life TOO SERIOUSLY! So, it doesn't surprise me at all that you're a good spirited/ hearted person. 🙏👍🤗😊
Justin I love your channel!!! I admit I wasn't a fan of The Darkness. I was wrong, you are now one of my favorite vocalists. What you do with your voice is incredible!!!
I love the bonus tracks that you put out. I know Hot Cakes is not your favourite album and I understand why but I love it and the bonus tracks. I particularly love Pat Pong Ladies, which also makes me chuckle (would love to know the inspiration for that one!) and Cannonball with Ian Anderson. Superb stuff. Lovin' the channel as always and can't wait to see some merch ❤
Deluxe albums/B-sides often house hidden gems....Million Dollar strong (Last of our Kind) is a stunning song, the opening riff will take your face off! Look forward to seeing the Darkness 4th Feb.
roaring here!! 🤣🤣😂😂 Justin's fans are a whole 'nuther level. Because we appreciate Jus' vast vocabulary and clever turn of the word, we regularly get pithy comments like jaynines. all, stars! brilliant 🤍
Thanks Justin for another entertaining video. BTW, absolutely loved the Beato interview. You both seemed to have a great time..Keep up the great content.
Hi Justin Great channel - your upbeat and positive outlook is so refreshing to watch. So much so my wife is now an avid viewer and fan of the Darkness. Cheeky wee request to give a shout out to my wife Teresa as I secretly got her tickets for your gig on Monday in Glasgow. It would be an even bigger surprise to get a name check as she will be watching your channel beforehand. We might not see you on the ice, but we will see you at the SECC! Slainte Iain
Apologies for finding your story about your inline skating experience funny but it’s given me a good laugh. Reminds me of the time I attempted roller disco and fell painfully on my arse. Some things are better left in childhood. Skating is one of them 😂😂😂
My brother and I came to see you in Brighton last year. Amazing show and the sound was amazing. Just wondering how you get the balance to do the leg clapping against the drum kit? So entertaining! Keep rocking Justin!
Don’t bring out the JHRA merch too quickly please Justin! I’m already planning on spending ALL my money on The Darkness & Black Stone Cherry merch at the gig tomorrow! 😂 It’s going to be F***ing awesome! Can’t wait! 🤩😁🥰
Thanks! We've just been to your Liverpool show. And after the shenanigans with the fire my question is have you had to stop any shows before and why? Awesome gig by the way. It was my present to my husband for his birthday. We had a blast. Thank you sir!
Some B sides are as good as A sides for some artists. Love JHRA merch idea. Did wonder if you were going to put some items out, specific to your YT channel. A good old 70's band style t-shirt with screenshot picture of you in the studio and matching mug of course, lovely! Good luck on Saturday and may your tour go smoothly! 🎸🤘
Such great content, amazing stories, jackets, tunes, etc... i honestly enjoy all your uploads, its refreshing from the mundane daily reccomended list. 🤙
"... there's really no need for me for wearing shirts anymore, it's just a waste of time" 😂 Love it. // Sorry to hear about the ups/downs/demonitization thing. These social media channels have huge advantages but also huge disadvantages for creative people. Keep going, your channel is outstanding. Love the way you treat topics, people, art - and us as your audience. And I already have to thank you for one or another discovery of musical jewels, e.g. Ren💯. Curious to see your next set for this talk. Maybe another kitchen. Maybe that white furniture piece with the open top drawer again.😛And now all the best for the arena tour! 💥💪
Justin Hawkins, the greatest Living Embodiment of the Rock ideal, kicking out the jams...and a terribly nice fella too by the looks of things. Thanks for all the posts.
Love your channel Justin I watch every day!I have been lucky enough to win tickets to see you in Liverpool on Sunday so very much looking forward to seeing you guys live!Am hoping Open Fire will be on the set list but regardless will be awesome seeing you perform!!!

Speed of the Nite time is so absolutely beautiful. Please please let us know what guitar you used for that song. I was so in love with the guitar timbre that it took me like 4 listens to get over the beautiful guitar to actually be able to understand what the song was about cause all my attention was in the guitar. But then your voice is rich and velvety and beautiful in it too. Just absolutely beautiful song in every way♡ Much love to you Mr. Hawkins
Does anyone else get Billy Idol vibes from that song? To me it sounds so 80s I love it. Drastically different from the rest of the songs on Motorheart imo. I'd really like to know the inspiration behind it.
I also think this song has one of the more notable bass lines in a darkness song. It’s rad! It’s awesome when the riffery finally kicks off with a vengeance, a restrained guitar track by their standards!

Justin love the channel and absolutely LOVE when you talk about unsung bands of the past. Any thoughts on the underrated (at least in the states) Scottish new wave band Big Country (featuring the late Stuart Adamson)? Cheers!
I really appreciate you, Justin, for just being calm. These days it’s nice to feel the presence of a good-natured person.
