You had me at "quieter" and "ride better", not to mention the 33's are the way to go. Nice job, man!
36000 miles and still love them! Starting to get some road noise but that's to be expected!
I just got the same truck and love these tires. This is the exact setup I was looking for. Thanks brother !!
Phil Ruybal that's awesome man, good luck!
hogdoghd what kind of leveling kit do you have ?
Phil Ruybal it's just a little rough country level blocks!
hogdoghd awesome. That's all I can find lol. Thanks!
I have that same year midnight edition. I’m looking for those exact same tires. Thank you for the video, that looks absolutely amazing!
Beautiful looking truck
Thanks, I love it!
No problems what so ever!! I love it! Rides better and drives better! Thanks!
Awesome, getting ready to order the tires now and get the kit next week. So lucky I stumbled on your video, I kept getting different answers on what would and would not rub. Thanks man
33x12.5r18?
Pretty truck man.
I like the fella. Kinda old school laid back 👍👍
I work in the parts dept. at a Chevrolet and Rough Country dealer in Ohio. Seen so many new trucks lifted to the sky, that will never see dirt or gravel.(LOTS & LOTS $$$$$) for what?. Not me , I have a 2017 Z71 LT Deep Ocean Blue , same wheels. 2.5 Rough Country level kit. Don't need a ladder to get into. But I dislike the look of Gdyr HP's mine came with. Too small in wheelwell. Gonna step up to these soon. Stock Goodyears 265/65R18 to 275/70R18. BFG TA KO2
DeathBySmot420 I really hated the Goodyear tires! The look great but too small and handle like shit! The BFG's out perform the badyears ten times over!
Nice truck! 💗
Thanks I love it!
Ugh I’m bummed. My shop called rough Country they said if you’re going with the 2.5 lift you’ll need to also do the rear. So I just ordered the 2 inch spacer. Then when I asked about these tires I was again told they wouldn’t fit. So I ordered KO2s in original tire size on my 2016 gmc. Damn I wish I would’ve seen this before I ordered
Sorry man 26000 miles later & they are still amazing and wearing like iron!
I have the same exact set up on my 2016 silverado but I went with General Grabber X3s
CHEVYOWNER12 Chevys rule , I love the general tires, I had the general grabber at2 on my 06 duramax and they were awesome!
I got a 2017 Crew Midnight. Got the tubeler steps but dang Dog those sport steps might be in my future.
My real question is this. I got the stock Duratacks and I would bet my last buck I have a bad wheel bearing. Trucks only got 40k. Has anyone else had a bad humb from the Duratacks? You really hear it as you're coming too a stop.
Thanks and I really love them!
Had them on my wife's wrangler, they are garbage. I have an 18 Silverado z71 putting cooper discovery at3 on it as soon as the Goodyear hts wear out
Looks perfect. How close are you to rubbing the inner fender well at full lock? I ask because I'm considering a 2.25 inch level for my Silverado and I'm wondering if it needs the full 2.5 inches to clear the 275/70r18 KO2s. Thanks so much!
I have more than enough room! 2.5 years in and absolutely no rub ever!
@@hogdoghd Thanks for your response. Do you think a 2.25 inch level would get the job done to clear those tires or do you need that extra quarter inch at 2.5?
I think 2.25 would be plenty! You'll love it! Good luck
Looks great man. I am getting a 17 ltz midnight edition as well. I’m looking to run the same spec tires/wheels as you are, would they fit ok on stock suspensions or is the 2.5” lift absolutely necessary?
I'm not sure in stock, it would be close!
I have the same truck but mines a 2016 w/28,000 miles I like how yours sits, did you just put 2.5 blocks on front struts? Also did you put front control arms too?
Just the small block from rough country on the bottom of strut! Been perfect for 36000 miles!
Hey man, Great video! I'm just wondering did you do the rear blocks with the level kit or just the front end? Also thanks again for your first exhaust video, I pulled that 3ft 40lbs muffler off my truck and did the 3" straight pipe my truck sounds ridiculous Bwhahaha I love it!
Jpkole513 I just did the front, no blocks but I have bought some rest helper springs and that should give her some lift in the back when it in thaws here in Ohio!
Thanks for showing as I have the same truck. Do you think that the 305's will really need much modification? I am hoping that 305 65 18 will work on a 18" rim
305s are pretty wide and from what I understand they rub bad! You have to beat a bunch of sheet metal back! No thanks. I'm 30k miles in and still love it and the tires still look new!
I really like the look of your truck. I was looking to get a 285 70 17 its a little wider and a little smaller. Do you think i would get some rubbing I would be putting these in a stock offset. and what tint do you have on the front windows. Thanks
It will be close, the width is what you worry about! Let me know how it goes!
Did you swap out an old leveling kit from another truck onto this one? Only rough country leveling kit I see is a 2 inch for our trucks.. Thinking of going suspension Maxx to get the 2.5 this time I left my old leveling kit from rough country on my truck when I turned the lease in I'm sure they made a decent dollar off of that since they paid it off at 25k and had it for sale for 28k lol
If you go to high it will hit the upper bump stop all the time and ride like crap!
Does your z71 driver side wheel well sit at about 1/2 - 1” lower than the passenger side?
Can you measure from the ground to the top of the fender on the front and rear? How much did it raise it up after leveling and 33”s?
Whats the gas mileage that you're getting on this with the cold air intake? have the same truck and thinking of picking up the 275/75/18 tires.
I get around 16-18 around town and 21-22 on the highway but I have a heavy foot.
Do you think these would rub with only a 2" level? Did the bigger, heavier tires drag the performance of your truck down noticeably? It looks awesome
M Smith 2" is perfect and no it runs like a scalded dog!
I have the exact same size and tire on a stock 16 midnight edition. No rub at all. Been on there since spring of 17. No performance loss, although I run a Blackbear Tune. You will be fine with a 2” level.
You have had these tires for 5 years now. How they holding out?
I bought same tires im leveling my 2016 Silverado Z71 so 3" front 1.5 rear its said they are 34x34x11 do u think they not gonna rub
Man I'm not sure about a 34" tire you may have a little rub!
I've got a 2016 Silverado LTZ Z71, about to do a 2.5" level on the front of mine. Mine has 20" factory wheels, wonder if I can go 285/65/20 BFG KO2's to replace the stock tires? One of my friends put them on his GMC, but he said he also did a 2" level in the rear as well. Also I can't make my mind up between the K02'S or the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. A lot of folks around where I live are getting the Nittos instead of the KO2's.
Not sure of the size bit the front tire is only clearance concern. As far as I'm concerned bfg's are the best I've ever owned, and I've owned a bunch!
Wow, those look fantastic! Question: I am looking at the same KO2 in the 275/70R18 for my 2018 3500 Black L5P High Country - will these fit the front stock height okay without any leveling?? My OEM was a 265 so not much smaller. Leveling in the future but need tires now… thanks
3500 will fit no problem! I would do a 285 on a HD truck, way more height and clearance!
How ya liking them in the snow? If you get any where you’re from.. I’m on my 3rd winter seem to still get good traction but not up to par with a dedicated snow tire they advertise but I can’t seem to find the need to spend another 700 for snow tires lol
Ed dean I love them in the snow! I think they are the best tire it there!
do i need to lift it if i want to put bigger tires...i have 05 denali
Yes at least a level kit!
I got the motofab 3" front can I fit 275 70 18 or maybe 33 12.5 18 on stock wheels
I don't see why not
@@hogdoghd r those 275 70 18 is a true 33" tire
Yup I'm sure, almost 33.1
hi i’m asking does the tire Rob on the front bumper??
Not at all!
Is that tint 20% tint on the front to match the back?
Ed dean yes it is! And a 5% sun visor strip!
awesome man! what side steps are they?
Jimmy Kimber n-fabs I really like them and fairly cheap! I bought them off of Amazon!
Hey man!! Truck looks killer, I was wondering if you like having the E rated tires or if you think that you noticed a really harsh ride etc. Like I don't mind the idea of an E rated tire I just wanted to know if you think it's annoying riding with the thicker side walls... A way thanks in advance for the response
Hey, thanks! I love the E Rated tires! It handles so much better, I love the ride and I have had a serious load behind her and it was great! I can't recommend these tires enough, I love them! Had a few snow storms now and they are awesome! I hated the junk Goodyear tires, the steering felt sloppy and handling sucked!
hogdoghd thanks man!!! I'm debating between these and falken At3w. But glad to hear how much better your ride is
Good luck, I hate falken tires but I wish you the best of luck!
hogdoghd haha looks like bf Goodrich tires it is.
Hogdog! I’m commenting again to see how you’re liking the ko2s now.. I sold mine at 20k starting to lose traction in rain taking off from a stop bought duratracs and loved them too but got a trail boss with 20s now and need to decide on ko2 or duratracs wondering your mileage and traction opinion!
35000 miles and still going strong! They do seem a little slick in the rain from a takeoff but very manageable.
They definitely perform poorly in the rain in my opinion. Running 275/60/20’s (33”). Definitely noisy on the highway too. There good in the dry though and off-road. They do look great too. I guess the minuses I mentioned are to be expected on any off road biased tire though.
Hogdoghd good video nice looking truck! did you have any issues with shift points and speedo being accurate?
No issues at all
Speedo will be off quite a bit. At 60 mph on the speedo with these bigger tires you will really be doing about 62-63. The speedo will register a slower speed then you are actually going so be careful lol
I have a 2017 Z71 Silverado but my "Z71" is a decal and is at the back of the truck. Did your truck come standard with the "Z71" badge on the driver door?
Yes that is all factory
@@hogdoghd I Think the badge on your door is only available on the "midnight edition".
Did you do 2.5 leveling kit front only? Or did you do 1 in lift rear?
I just put the front levellers in. Everything else is stock.
@@hogdoghd looks perfect man,n
Beautiful truck 👍
Why only the front hogdog? I would think you would still want a slight rake if you where to put some weight in that bed or while towing.
It's supposed to be a 2.5" kit! It really sits perfect, it still has a slight take forward and I tow my 18' trailer every week! It tows amazing!I actually have a set of add a leafs in the garage but really feel it's perfect now!
Did you recalibrate your speedometer after putting on the bigger tires?
No I didn't have to, it's kinda weird but it is perfect! GPS, speed radar on side of road, my speedo is perfect!
@@hogdoghd wow that was lucky! How much of a drop in MPG did you see?
Well lucky because I didnt have to recalibrate the speedo and I did all of that before I had 1000 miles on the truck. I get 15 mpg around town and 21-23 mpg on highway and I have a heavy foot.
Hey man, I have the same truck and was wanting to do the exact same thing you did. Are you still having no issues with the tire size?
Oh and the truck looks badass..lol
Awesome! You'll love it! I absolutely love this truck! I just got my cold air induction air box today which is my next mod!!
hogdoghd how’d you get the sidewall lettering in black?
One side of the tires have black walls and the other side is the white! They are non directional tires so it doesn't matter!
hogdoghd oh shit, lmao. I thought you knew some top-secret shit. The guys at the tire place today told me those tires would rub and I was like no sir not according to the inter-web!!
What side steps are those?
N-fab off of Amazon! Lol
You neglected to say if thats a 1500 or an HD 2500, but i can see from the front grill its a 1500 Z-71,
how much additional height do you gain with Z-71 package before installing leveling kit? maybe you
don't know, I have 2015 silverado HD Z-71, and I want to install 275/70R18's without "any" modifications
but am unsure if there will be any rubbing, tough to get this info
Oh sorry, 1500 for sure!! I still love it I had about 6000lbs on a trailer and the bed full, drove about 400 miles and did awesome! I'm not sure on the hd, is it taller than a regular Z71?
Here's my setup if you're looking for more info. tinyurl.com/y7pzo57h
The HD trucks sit higher than a 1500 even without the z71 package. You should be able to clear 275/70r18 just fine. Mine rub at full turn but it just rubs the fender lining. Just zip tie it back and your tires should clear.
You can also use this tool to calculate the offset and tire size as well. tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/
I hope this helps!
6 lug rims 1500 ass
How they holding up now
Have 24k on them and still look brand new
Nice i need them for mine too they look great
Isn't a 275 a 31" tire?
angry dayv nope a 275 is the width of the tread in millimeter! What makes them a 33 is the 70 aspect ratio which means 70 % of width + rim diameter 18!
hogdoghd cool thanks
what psi are you running?
Nate I'm running around 40 psi unless I'm towing!
At what pressure do you run?
Karol Hijaz right around 38-40psi normal driving and then 65-80psi towing, depending on load. They are e load range.
What is the name of your rims?
those are stock chevy Z71 18"
Factory midnight edition gm wheel!
Are those the stock rims?
What size are they? Have the same truck and wondering how these will look with the stock rim size.
Yes they are the stock 18" midnight edition wheels
How wide are they though?
275mm wide which is right at 10.9 inches! They look like a perfect fit on this truck!
Will 285/65/18 fit ok?
Yes, I have them on mine with a 2" leveling kit with no rubbing at all
What is the milage
I've got 10k on it now and love it!
Sory i meant gas mileage im thinking of getting same tires
Lol, I get about normal 21 on the highway and 16 running around town! I do however have a very heavy right foot!
