i spunned out about 3-4 times in less than a year and my tires look like the 1st one you showed. The 1st time i went full sideways leaving a stop light turning left, i was going maybe around 10mph and the ground was slightly wet from rain earlier in the day. One of the times, there was a puddle at a stop sign, i stopped and jokingly told the wife look were going to fishtail out so dont freak out, but i departed the stop sign maybe going 5mph as slow as i can, and no B.S. i fish tailed and of course the wife freaked out. I dont think i would get another set.

Great video. I have never had any issues with my KO2s and have been running them for years. I suspect that other than poor tyre condition, the people this occurs to are either in utes with no weight in the rear or are not (as you said) driving to the conditions and following suggested cornering speed signs.

If people insist on wanting 80,000km from tyres then the manufacturer needs to make them too bl@@dy hard. Hard equals slippery when wet.

@@Fourby4Diesel I used bfg at for 15 years, decided to switch to general grabber at this last set because I was buying 5 instead of 4. I will never go back to bfg. Wet grip is awesome with grabbers, ride better, cheaper, deeper tread when new. And my bfg slipped bad twice on me for no reason, once while towing and descending on a highway with a stop light at bottom, the other in a sealed parking lot. Both times were very scary and could have caused a novice driver to have terrible results. Cya bfg, I'm never goin back.

I just replaced my KO2's the other day. I didn't get 20k miles out of them and spent $1,440.00 on them. I had Falken AT3/w's put on the truck for $993.28 at a dealership. I'm also a guy that rotates and balances tires on time, I check pressure, change my oil on time, and maintain my trucks the way a guy should. So, the KO2's were very unimpressive and I won't be purchasing them again. I live in Northern Wyoming so there's rough terrain, but I don't drive like a carnival animal, I don't run tunes on my trucks. I keep everything as stock as I can because I have no interest in rolling coal. I haul an enclosed tool trailer that has new tires and suspension so it's not like I'm dragging it around all willy-nilly. The KO2's didn't treat me right and I'm refraining from using the language I use out in my shop. I'll never buy another BFG tire again.

I took note and was careful with my 70 series. I started pushing them when it was safe do so. Now I have total confidence in them and have to work really hard to get them to slip.
Good advice about locking the centre diff when leaving the tarmac. This should be standard practice even for a gravel road. It will save your tyres, drive shafts and diffs.

People say the BFGs are poor in wet weather I have had 2 sets on my hilux, I have never had any issues with them on wet tar or dirt roads, I have driven over a lot of different conditions in southern Africa. So For me the reason I would get them again is I have confidence that they will last and in terms of milage and resistance to damage. As you stated in the video the people that have issues are possibly using tyres that are a bit older and the tread has hardend and has damage which like you say reduces their efficiency.
Thanks for the thoughts, information and about how the tyres wear. 👍🏻🤠

I have two of the same Hiluxes. The only difference on them are that the one has Bf Goodrich tyres and the other one has got Firestone destination. They are all new so that makes it the perfect test. They are both very good and are some of the only tyres that last in the Karoo here in South Africa. If I go to town and it is wet I will always go with the one with the Destinations because The Bf Goodrich does not grip. On the other side they are better in the field wet or dry.
Sorry I lied. There is one more thing that is different. The one is black and the other one is white. Maybe I must swap the tyres and see what happens.

Respectfully to all the people who have commented nothing but praise for the ko2, they read along the lines of, "I had ko2s, loved them so bought another set". That's great to hear, but it sounds like they haven't tried another brand tyre? I used to run ko2s and km2s on both rangers and 79 dual cab. Had a fair few sketchy moments in the wet (from brand new) so thought I'd try something different. Swapped over to nitto Trail Grappler and oh my God, completely different tyre. They out preform the bfg in every way (price is same same). They have fantastic grip in dry, wet, offroad gravel, mud ect. I will never ever go back to a ko2. In fact we ordered a new Raptor and the first thing I'll be doing is taking off the ko2s and going another set of nittos in 35s.

On wet highway runs, up Cunningham's gap etc to town, no dramas ever. If I want chipped tyres or flats, all the time, I will waste my money on Coopers or the other city wank show brands. I think these tyres are slippery in the wet because the consumer gets no data on any tyres on the market. If you buy say a fullriver blah ah dc battery you get data you can work with to if you choose get the best out of your battery. I would love to see data on tyres ie. Weights temperature external and internal pressures, charts effects on internal construction outer construction side walls degredation of rubbers and guides on the wear of specific tread patterns effect in kn of the tread in various surfaces etc within the manufacturers recommendations . I assume that the manufacturer has this data in r&d and in the legal departments. I think atm buying a tyre of a tad like buying a skin ointment cream at your local hippie market. Hence why things are slippery when wet.

Worst tires I have ever ran on my f350's, flats, blowouts , belt separation. Expensive and bloody disappointing .

Ten sets of BFG's and you still haven't learned to go for Maxxis. 🤦‍♂

As long as you rotate them constantly, I've changed to falken wild peaks, I rate them higher than the Coopers

As someone that's worked at a tire shop for a decade, I gota say these are entirely over rated and a huge rip off. I've seen better tires from motomaster.

Not they WILL be.... thoes are 💯 the worse tires ever had. 95 Bronco even a slight bit of wetness with tiredthat had 200 miles on them were B HOLE puckering sketchy braking let alone all around.
