What are your thoughts about these games? Let me know in the comments!
NFS in the late 2000's and early 2010's are having an identity crisis.
I personally like MW 2012 , it's a really nice game, had lots of fun while playing it from start to end, i don't find it to be as bad as everyone else says
Hot Pursuit 2010: The last great NFS
MW12 & Rivals: Underrated Gems
2015: Dumpster Fire
Payback: Not as bad as everyone says, the only real problem I had was the abhorrent upgrade system
Heat: A major improvement over the last game, but way too reliant on nostalgia from Underground and Most Wanted ‘05
i haven't played every nfs game but most wanted 2012 is definitely my favourite
I got NFS Heat for $3 and played it for maybe 1-2 hours then gave up. The default for the game is gas to drift and I didn't know that the drag tires are better for drifting at the time. I remember even the drift tutorial mission was impossible to finish. I just stopped playing after that. The cars' handling just didn't feel natural, the drift physics was not fun. Compare that to Forza Horizon 5 the game just doesn't measure up. Unless you really love cop chases, FH5 was just a much better open world arcade racing game.
The fact that NFS Heat got only ONE DLC car and support for only 6 months and Payback got support for nearly two years is insulting. NFS Heat destroys Payback in almost every category.
It's quite similar with NFS2015. It had longer support than Heat but much shorter than originally promised. I think overall it could have been a much better game if they just would have improved it instead of leaving it in it's state
No it doesn't..... The Playlist, the story, the race types including drag and actual offroad races and much more makes payback way better than heat
@@saulgoodmansfingerr8527nah, heat was exponentially better than payback
@@saulgoodmansfingerr8527 yeah no, Payback was just not a great game. Heat is much better.
@@saulgoodmansfingerr8527 for me they trade blows in race variety, handling (were payback wins) and map, but most other stuff makes Heat the better game
while 2015 and Payback were a massive low,Heat actually took the series towards an upwards trajectory in terms of quality, can only hope Unbound doesn't make it another low
Heat was still garbage though. Driving model was so awful that no amount of improvements and extra features could save it.
@@gameboyterrorysta6307 If you care about driving quality you have 1000 other racing games to play, NFS is the only game prioritizing customization and Heat did that at least.
@@gameboyterrorysta6307 I think the arcade handling in UNITE does a relatively good job for it to be playable.Tho the fact you have to use a 3rd party mod for the game to be enjoyable speaks volumes about the state of NFS
@@IAmVenix Racing/driving game without tools to provide decent racing or driving. Great idea. Somehow we could have both decent driving model and customization before Ghost Games. And if you want customization, there are games that do it to much bigger extent than any NFS.
@@IAmVenixIf only we had a game that drives like Forza but customizes like NFS. It would put every other car game out of business.
It's also a shame Payback gave a small hint of a sequel at the end of the story.. then that never happened.
The only character I like from Payback was Mac. Game was meh-ayrite. Heat is slightly better.. but still feels meh.
@@danskyl7279 funny because for me mac was annoying

I actually quite enjoyed Payback. Idk why but I did.

-mac never stop trash talking while racing

The main issue is each NFS entry is made within a annual yearly basis which one RUclipsr mentioned resulted in helluva crunch and some devs having a burnout (pun intended) with not enough time to make best quality possible. Black Box suffered from crunch having multiple teams working on 1-2 games simultaneously making it crazily insane that EA would just run them to the ground. So now Criterion is a shell of its former self as its founders left to go back independent. Ghost Games became EA Gothenburg in a role of support studio. There really needs to be better leadership and better development time & funding. 2 years were a great start but I rather they take more time with 4+ years to make it even better polished.
so basically you're saying the problem is EA and their habit of rushing games lol
sorry but that's not all of it the fact is NFS just isn't profitable anymore and isn't even a threat to Forza and iRacing (and never will be) with it only being competition for The Crew and with that they just need to cut their losses and kill off the franchise as a whole
@@theunhingedgamer3762 forza is fucking boring

One thing I remember about 2015 is that PC port was buggy at launch (aka when I tried it on a friends PC for 20 minutes and decided to not buy it). Somehow, you could fall through the map in one specific place (was some tunnel I believe), and you could also get stuck in invisible hitboxes in other places. I assume they patched those later, since they weren't mentioned, but at launch, PC version felt like a Bethesda game with all the bugs and glitches
Well, Bethesda Games aint buggy? It's just "extra features" and "it just works"... 🤣🤣🤣
/DBB
Well i fixed a lot of things with more ram, that worked, my problem then was the car handling was dogwater, cars would randomly gain full grip in the middle of drifts and slam straight into walls, cars would also crash into walls if they touched a small bump, your car will also be fighting against you when you wanted to drift or not. The handling in short was awful and made the game nearly unplayable for me, i literally prefer to play NFS payback over it despite its token based upgrade system.
@@AlineaEuros fixing stuff with more ram just indicates either a memory leak at time, or generally a poor optimisation/port (and it was a bad port, they said extra months delay would be for stuff like 60 FPS, but still launched on PC with 30). Reminds me of a different game, ARK Survival Evolved, where the game was only playable after I upgraded to 16GB RAM, but at least it was in early access at time (and was before the paid DLC before game release fiasco).
I'm a ps4 user and it isn't like that
When I bought the game and played it it was legendary (it was my first nfs game) and I never had any problems other than handling is wonky at times
Idk much about PC cuz I don't own one but I think maybe the game was too heavy for the computer
@@LilnormieX doubt it was the case if purely upgrading RAM helped, usually CPU/GPU are a bottleneck. But the port was kinda rushed and half assed, so I guess poor optimisation (not rare nowadays, sadly), or just a memory leak at launch. Port even had issues where game would constantly brake every second with controller, or do other weird inputs, and one workaround was to unmap all keybinds for keyboard and steering wheel...
The last and great NFS game for me was Rivals. It had a killer and banger soundtrack, which introduced people to EDM because EDM rose to fame and was popular in 2013. It had a variety of fast and agile cars, and had the most deadliest cops that the game has to offer. They're the deadliest cops compared to the previous NFS games because they can wipe you out by ramming you with an ESF equipped, including Shockwave. It's basically Hot Pursuit 2010 and Most Wanted 2012 combined but with steroids. One thing I really hate is that you can't pause the game and the game literally bugs out for no reason. But I like how they are now semi-fully upgraded already even if you had a starter car which is the Cayman.
Another con that Rivals had is it's rubberbanding AI. When you are trying to get away from the cops, they always come back to you, saying that the pursuit is still resumed. Even if you are idle/staying still, cops will still wipe you to dust. Either way, the game is still fun to play despite it had minor issues. I actually enjoyed Rivals much because it's one of my fave modern NFS games.
I hated Payback to Unbound that much because they're too nitpicky when it comes to money. I actually bought Rivals on Steam which is the Complete Edition for 3 dollars, because I bought them during it's discount sale. It's an underrated game, idk why people hate it, and some people love the game.
Rivals is a good game. But it's a game with a lot of 50/50 stuff.
Cops are really aggressive and entertaining, yes. But annoying for nothing.
Car damage is present, yes. But Crashcams are bugs
It still has Brake 2 Drift, yes. But somehow it's worse than MW12
It has a story, and quite a good one, yes. But it lacks a good narrative.
I really liked Rivals, but I always had those thoughts on that game
Most Wanted 2012 was the first time I really noticed that the series was moving completely in the wrong direction. I found the game really confusing at times. What bothered me the most was that you just find cars somewhere on the side of the road and drive off. Some cars you even had to buy with real money, which I didn't do...
Most Wanted 2012 is easily one of the worst "remake" ever done. Car progression is just non-existent as you say, there are no characters ie human that makes the world fleshed out. No customization at all. Omg, I play it once through a friend. I never wanted to play that ever again.
I rather play NFS Prostreet regardless if the handling are bad in that game.
The game missed all the spots in terms of progression and gameplay I completely agree If I'm correct the game was rushed so mabey it would have had a better system if it cooked a little longer
To be fair though the map is great and the road networks join smoothly
The traffic ai was dence but not anoying since on collision the cars roll forward or swerve out of the way (when the crash cam dident activate)
And the lighting is still good to this day
I was hoping criterion would Implement their traffic ai and map making skills in unbound but that doesn't seem to be the case
Kinda a shame
Very true! EA is the reason of the downfall of this series, they got rid of the small companies who helped to develop the games before just to make more money for themselves they only care about money not the users
@@danskyl7279 its not a remake in the slightest its a burnout game with licensed cars.
Thats why i love mw
@@joshua1932 yeah fairhaven is still much more fun than the more modern game's cities (looking at palm city and lakeshore)
Even though the series may not be on the same level as on the 2000's, Heat really made me believe in the future on Need For Speed because I had a lot of fun, especially whenever we played online. Hopefully Unbound raises the bar and brings the series back to the top :)
I hope so too. Although criticism is already in the air, given the artistic change in visuals (effects and cartoonish characters).
@@theportugueselegend I feel like that's a "to each their own" kind of thing, as far as the visuals go
@@CometWarriorYT Yeah of course. I'm just saying they divided the community with the choice. But hey, it's a risk they've taken, there's not too many companies that take artistic risks these days
@@theportugueselegend I'm gonna be honest here and say there's a difference between risk and setting up for failure and tbh NFS isn't profitable anymore as is so them taking risks is a dumb move so taking risks is an automatic setup for failure
at this point as much as many would disagree the fact is that if they were to just go back and remaster all of the older games from Underground all the way to Prostreet or even Shift and they'd make way more money off of those games than they would from the newer games and technically they could easily remaster 2005's Most Wanted because of it being on the Xbox 360/PS3
to put this short they need to just cut their losses with the franchise and move on because even though there are a good number of racing games out here it's just not gonna be possible for NFS to dethrone the likes of Forza and iRacing and at this point the only game that they can contend with is The Crew which is already dying so not that much of an accomplisment and the sales have shown that NFS just isn't profitable anymore compared to other racers out here currently
In all fairness, Heat and Payback are decent racing game. But they are "meh..." at best.
I actually love NFS 2015. It had all the beloved jdm cars with great customization and a beautiful city. The server issues still bug me too... ^^' But I played it for the first time earlier this year, didn't know it was hated. It became my favourite title after the original Most Wanted.
I love that it actually felt like a real city. It was very immersive in that regard. The highway system alone made it superior to Heat and especially Payback. And there were none of those ridiculous jumps and crap that completely ruin any sort of immersive realism.
@@wickedspank it didnt have an accesible downtown and most of the city was unplayable. It wasnt great or "felt like a real city", it was a rushed game with horrible handling and a city that you can mostly see exclusively through the in game map, inaccesible while driving.
@@edu7979 the handling excuse is just that, an excuse, you can specifically spec your car's handling, choice of drifting or grip. 2015 was great, best NFS game on last Gen, nothing comes close.
Hot Pursuit Remastered was a lifeless, unneeded remaster to celebrate a 10 year anniversary which pisses me off when OG Most Wanted was 15 years old and Underground was 20 years old in 2020.
Rivals and Payback is garbage. Heat was pretty good, the Cop system overhaul was much needed.
@@ShaggyFox there is no handling excuse lol, the handling was literally broken in 2015
@@thatralphy476 again, re-spec your car's handling if you can't fucking handle it. It is an excuse
NFS went from that tuning show with lot of cosmetics and extravagant to... a random arcade game with low personnalisation while we could expect "way" more.
Can I ask if you've played 2015, payback, or heat? The personalisation was arguably those games biggest features
With less options than a game from 2004, where are my goofy headlights and subwoofers
I always thought NFS fans are like Sonic fans - stuck in the past and also fragmented on what their past is. (Hot Pursuit 1-Porsche Unleashed loyalists are very much a thing, btw)
Throughly enjoyed Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted and Rivals. Never bought a game after that.
Hey that's a familiar name, sup :)
Almost the same here with a couple of exceptions. I also enjoyed The Run a lot and bought Hot Pursuit Remastered.
You forgot one horrible detail about payback that made me hate it. Sure, I could deal with the slot machine mechanic with the parts. But the issue I had was the off-road events. Cars were way too twitchy, and had their speed limits capped to like 120mph when they had over 1k horsepower and a top speed of like 250 plus. It made doing the off-road races so uncomfortable and clunky it was just unbearable. It was an absolute awful experience and I hope it never comes back
Ah yea that is true, I think I had a maxed out Panamera and it was such a pain doing them at any point , thanks for pointing that out 👍
I got used to it and off-road handling is really fun actually, Heat didn't need off-road races, they were boring
Hot Pursuit 2010 is without a doubt my favourite game in this series. Pure, fast, arcadey fun with a really good soundtrack.
Mine is Most wanted 2005 , got so much nostalgia in it :)
If you think hot pursuit is the best game out of this series You never heard of Need for speed under ground 2, most wanted 2005 and Carbon those 3 games where when need for speed used to be good! Since then they have released only crap games really disappointed with how they damage this series so bad
@@vladimirmonteiro1845 I have played all of those titles and I stand by my opinion
@@Bluefire397 really????? Bruh! I don’t know how but fair enough
Hot pursuit 2010 was the first 'modern' NFS game to capture the essence of what NFS games were about in the 90s. Solid game, sadly overlooked thanks to the tunning fever that underground unleashed. Underground 1and 2, MW, or carbon are good games, but people tend to forget that NFS wasn't about customization, ricer culture, was about speed.
Personally I was a big fan of 2015, had that underground feel and all the customization was fun. The story with the racing icons was cool
And the map was so much better than Heat and especially Payback. That game just nailed it on look and feel.
Absolutely agree 2015 was very good and had a great feel and pretty good customization
In terms of the map 2015 had a actually good highway network and the roads dident feel so fake and extra wide like in heat
And it had the fine tuning from ProStreet what made me create insanely good to drive cars. Even out of muscle cars.
EXACTLY finally someone who has it right!
here are somethings payback did well:
1.race tracks: races were very interesting. it's almost impossible to win race in first try. you have to do a test run to learn the track. since games are getting annoyingly easy these days, wins in payback were more satisfying
2. return of blacklist (sort of): boss races were back. you have defeat their goons to get a chance to race with them. it kept progression interesting. each boss slowly reveals small parts of the story and gives u clue for a treasure .
3. stroy: it's a subjective topic. but the story development throughout the game were well done. they delivered it well enough that understood what's going on without zoning out.
4. off-road and drift physics: they fully committed to a new off-roading handling model. which actually made a very fun arcade off-road experience. i remember there were some insane jumps in the game. same goes for drifting. the map is built with rounded turns, perfect for drifting smoothly in high speed.
5. treasure hunt: hunting down part of different old cars from tiny clues were fun. (u can always google locations😑). but it was nice they added some detective work.
6. cop chase score: there wasn't any free roam cops but whenever u r playing as jess, the music was banger. in heat they went for demonic sounding scores. but that didn't enhance chase intensity like payback did.
only if, car parts could have been bought with cash instead of the slot machine i would love it. but i like it overall. not to mention, payback was far better optimized than heat.
I've played through the starting NFS games from Hot Pursuit and High Stakes to the entire Black Box franchise, and now here to the modern day titles from 2010 onwards. Oh boy has NFS had a very rough time looking back at things now from what happened from MW downwards. I got nothing against the Black Box titles but man those were some nostalgia filled days. When Criterion came to refresh the series with HP, I honestly loved it. Was always a more drift oriented player in NFS so having that basically be a dedicated drift player game I just clicked with it, more so even more with Most Wanted 2012 where I literally went ahead and golded every single car and attempted the fastest possible times I could against friends in events vs. friends in their favorite cars. I think I 100% it and then some for it, was just that much fun for me as a game, but yeah.
As a NFS game, looking back a decade now, it was blended Burnout and NFS with the licensed and weighter cars mixed with the Burnout mechanics and action cameras. I hoped that Rivals would've been just HP with some of the things that MW 2012 had.. But holy moly was that just a splash of a disappointment to my face I retired from the series, skipping 2015 and Payback.. Heat came on sale one day, picked it up, and.. Actually enjoyed it a bit. Although the fact that MP was just waysided meant my stay was way shorter lived then I thought. To this day, I'm enjoying Unbound now. 200 hours in and still counting, Criterion and those former Ghost devs got something going with this one like they did with Heat, so I'm really hoping we'll finally get something nice after all these years.
NFS Rivals is not always online, it has an offline mode. Other than that, I pretty much agree with everything. Good video! Excited for the next one!

To me, modern NFS is just an eye candy game. I play just for the customization and that's it, because the driving is so shit, progression is almost nonexistent and they're all so ridiculously easy
I actually find Rivals my favourite NFS game in the franchise. I have played it through the first time, and I like how aggressive the cops were, and how edgy the story felt. I felt the cop career more boring though towards the end, but overall I had a great experience. The soundtrack I love also. I'm waiting for the UNITE mod for it, hopefully it'll fix the game from the bugs.
I like it too, with a few fixes could be a killer game
Rivals is my personal favorite too. The gameplay, the risk vs reward factor, and the graphics makes the game a blast. Plus I think that the last race as a racer is one of if not the greatest race in video game history. It does definitely have it’s issues though.
NFS Rivals was trash
I agree, I think that it is the one I have the most hours on out of the whole franchise. I play it on console, so the framerate thing that was mentioned isn't really an issue and it's just really fun, whether I have an intent to progress or just hop on for 30 minutes and mess around. I'd like to learn speedrunning routes for it and give that a go, not that I'd be any good at it :p
One of my favorites... im still playing it
That rivals segment is just ridiculous. Of course when you play like exactly like you're not supposed to and run into the cops, you're gonna be wrecked. The whole point of playing as a racer is to evade and escape the cops. Of course it's very punishing, but that's why it's to thrilling. The crash physics are unforgiving but since that goes for both sides it's very rewarding for the better driver. Otherwise anyone with a supercar could drive around wallgrinding every corner and still be able to win regardless. Every new racing game does this, so it's a welcome switch imo. I do agree that the checklists are a bad way of progressing trough the game, but it's not like all of them require you to patrol around for 16km. That's the only mission in the whole game where it is like that and it's there only because of events in the story.
The cops and racers have different cars so you have to play both stories to unlock all cars in the game. Also you don't have to play with other players, you can create your own session. With the rest of the points I can agree, but this game is not even close to being as bad as most people make it out to be. Maybe you have to be a pvp enthusiast and have to have a little nostalgia bias to love the game like I did, but it's really not a bad game and the only ghost nfs that's not mid at most imo.
Yea I'll agree I could have handled this segment better but that's how I felt at the time, I do plan on revisiting it again either on pc or ps3 soon, thanks for the feedback 👍
Well, my NFS Rivals experience was playing Solo for like 15 hours, then jumping into multiplayer to get either "spawnkilled" by multiple racers as a cop upon spawning, chased by them across the map or cheaters.
bro 2012 was great as well as 2015. 2012 still has some of the most realistic car sounds over Unbound and this is without the editing the tips of the exhaust like you could in Heat and Unbound.
2015’s atmosphere is great, the trailer was great too.
Most Wanted 2012 was such bullshit. I’m STILL angry over the fact that they tied the Most Wanted title to a glorified NFS Burnout game that had NOTHING to do with the real NFS Most Wanted.
Fun fact: in Rivals in the menu, under "ALL DRIVE", if you go into "ALL DRIVE SETTINGS" you can change the game to single-player mode.
Rivals was really fun and review kinda seems unfair. The speedlists are completable while doing events and my goal was just to gold every event. Rivals really has the most intense chases out of every need for speed, especially on heat 10. The weapons were really well done, and pretty cool story to it.
Don't forget to include the soundtrack there. Rivals' soundtrack was fucking phenomenal.
I just want neons under the car to be cool again... Great video as always Dove! Love retrospectives and history of gaming videos, hopefully we'll get some more in the future
Neons under a car are a thing of the past and haven't been cool since 2005. Sure it's cool and nostalgic, but it's the best that it's left in the past
Only if flip phones and whales tails will become cool again too (and this hopefully won't happen)
Haha i remember when f&f come out, suddenly there are a lot of cars with neon everywhere! Even some bus following that trend
I honestly blame the community for the downfall of the series. If The Run would have recieved a better rating earlier, then who knows... Maybe EA would have allowed both Criterion and BlackBox to cooperate in creating Most Wanted 2012...
Personally I love Rivals, I don’t care about it being online, and it’s basically hot pursuit but cranked up to the next level
Hear me out. Rivals was everything great about NFS HP and Heat in one. Great graphics, literal weapons, risk/reward gameplay/decent customization for that Era of NFS and a decent story. I don't get why you guys have fits over it. It isn't always online, it never was. On no platform was it ever I mean EVER always online. You guys never tried to go offline. Also, in 2017 when I revisited Rivals, there weren't any griefers, and it was prior to Payback, so the game was still the 2nd newest game in the series, if you aren't counting No Limits.
No Limits was pure shit.
And I don't buy that excuse of "it's a mobile game".
Asphalt 8 (when was great) and even the Mobile version of MW'12 were MILES better except for the graphics.

I tried it on my cousins pc and damn i thought that i was playing highly modded version of Carbon or Most Wanted 2005.
it did make a significant impact on me and propelled me to play it. however my pc could only suppourt games till mw 2012.
running heat on my pc would kill it.
In that one hour of playthrough i discovered some things.
u can change your character
there at least 210 cars in the game
the driving model is less janky then payback and 2015.
it is very well manageable.
the customization is extensive and gives countless oppurtunities to modify your car.
no microtransactions to even buy parts for your car
the graphics were well rendered and were well optimised
and last but not the least
it had the proper M3 GTR Model and sound (kinda), since the release of carbon 16 years ago
this is just my perspective on heat. Many differ from me saying that heat was as bad as payback and 2015. However I respectfully disagree.
it was a great game and is my favourite modern NFS.
NFS may not be what it once was but calling it a "downfall" is a MAJOR exxageration, regardless of the issues.
NFS has been dead since NFS Prostreet/Undercover although I enjoyed the Run, but I was over NFS when Hot Pursuit released in 2010. What's interesting is I hated Hot Pursuit in 2010, but picked it up during the pandemic and loved it. So I picked up Rivals and was entertained by that as well. I also hated the Shift series as that wasn't arcade or sim or even simcade....it was a mess.
NFS 2015 was my first reintroduction to the series as back then I skipped Rivals after Most Wanted and Shift 2 made me wamt to hurt someone lol. 2015 was a heap of trash for obvious reasons, but enjoyed it. Payback was the same filth, but was "entertained". NFS Heat though got it almost right as they finally figured out the handling, but the handling was still no Forza Horizon imo. Not sure about Unbound at the moment, but NFS is living off name more than actual good gameplay in recent times.
(I like the review commentary of the subject matter, but find your live gameplay commentary distracting or as the kids say cringe. I'ma pretty off the wall guy, but this game commentary needs some work from a clever comedy angle)
I'm still playing around with the live gameplay but I thought it was ok for this one , thanks for the feedback 👍
I loved NFS Payback. Of course the method of acquiring parts was a but wacky, but I enjoyed playing through this game's story, and got all of the trophies.
I loved the game as well
Personally ,Rivals is one of my top favorite NFS games. I played it singleplayer, was super fun. Multiplayer isn't as bad right now, I've been playing it quite a bit as well.
loved rivals, hidden gem of a game. on 1 or 2 of your points, the health for car is low, but there's repair shops you can drive through to fix the car that is badly damaged. they nullify the low health of the car. the speedlists are completable when doing events so they're not exactly a chore. the risk vs reward system they had in place along with the low health of the cars and how aggressive the cops are made the game really intense and fun. i can agree on the fps limit though was one of a few drawbacks.
Nfs Rivals can be set offline by starting a single-player session in the menu
I really liked MW2012. It was so fun getting into police crashes and the destruction physics were oincredible foe the time and even now. Maybe if it was renames burnout paradise 2 it would've gotten more love.
Burnout fairhaven. It wasnt set in paradise city the name wouldnt work

NFS lost me when they did the "pukeground", sry, I meant Underground series. Just hearing that start menu music makes me want to destroy something (like the speakers or by some meaning the source of the noise called "music") out of pure rage.
Imo High Stakes for console and Porsche for PC (Porsche were complete shite on console) were the best.
Well, tbh, NFSMW, original one were ok but still not as good as High Stakes & Porsche tho.
Porsche for console I finished while having a friend in a phone call on mobile and playing ONE HANDED. Also game was just rented for a two day period along with two other games and they were all three 100%'ed during this two day period...
NFS, MGS1 but atm I can't remember game number three tho 🤔🥴🤷

Rivals had a sh** ton of issues on PC and Xbox One... It played flawlessly on PS4 though. It's like that was the only console they cared about while programming it... And I still remember watching the EA Livestream for when they revealed the Highway Heist for Payback and was like "You've got to be f**king kidding me, this looks like something I could play on my phone"
What I like about your vids are that you're not just beating down but also show the exact problem issue with your vid montage and focus on each thing respectively plus also getting stuff you also liked even if game was shite in majority.
Big Kudos for that.
I wouldn't been able to do the same, I think. But also can have to do with my diagnose; uninterested crap gets ignored disregarding if there's something that attracts me.
Omg! Finding the right words is h*ll after stroke 🤯 and that's a year ago from tomorrow... 🤦
Wouldn't even wish it upon my worst enemy, tbh...
Just this post have taken me about 10min to finish.😖

I appreciate the kind feedback it truly means a lot seeing comments like these! And sorry to hear about the stroke , I hope you are doing well nowadays 🙏
In NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 you could use equipment as a racer too, but is was only in Hot Pursuit Race events and it was on chosen like Hotting Up for Exotics
can you show how can i use dlc unlocker for nfs mw 2 plssss
Great retrospective of NFS! I played Need For Speed Heat which is my first NFS game and i gotta say it was really good. The customization you can do is leagues better than Payback's card system which was frustrating. I do wish they'd flush out the the antagonists more. The fate of what happened to Shaw was a mystery where we wreck his car, but then he is never seen again within the story outside of a small mention in the game's tv news.
80% of Criterion left for Ghost Games UK to finish Rivals. Unbound isn't being made by the devs you've missed.
I only ever played need for speed from pro street and before for years
tried the newer games recently and was blown away by how dog water it all was like there's no way anyones okay with this
I don't know how you can say anything about Heat without really mentioning the idiotic car damage thing. It was extremely frustrating when the game bugged and took away like half of your hp for one hit or just decided to spawn a cop car 100 feet in front of you. It ruined the cops experience for me in the game and cop chases were always the biggest aspect of the game for me. And if they want to make such features because they are more realistic prepare for sleep and pee meters in future nfs
I just don't see that slippery slope. Need for speed has always been about two different things: street racing and police chases
Police chases have been a thing in need for speed since the very first game back in 1994, almost 3 decades ago. It only makes sense that they would want to develop those mechanics over time, as they did in Hot pursuit, then in Most wanted, then again in Hot pursuit, then again in every game afterwards(other than Shift). I don't mind that they're trying to give their games a more realistic feel, I want the cars to feel good, I want them to feel like they are. I don't want to be plowing into a swat truck in a Miata and tossing it away, I want to be encouraged to try to outmaneuvre the police. It's something they did a good job at doing, even if the water strategy ended up being overpowered in Heat. The point is, your point hinges on wanting Need for Speed to be less realistic, and if that's the case, just go back and play MW2k5, or Underground 2 if cops aren't your thing at all. They're both perfectly arcadey in their own rights, but I doubt they're ever going back to that, because they want cars to feel like cars, and you can't just toss a car at everything and not expect to get punished for it.
Thanks to the modding community I still play my childhood games Underground 1, Ug2, MostWanted and ProStreet from time to time. With some tweaks they run good on Win11. After that the series didnt interest me anymore back then. I drifted into Simracing ( GTR2, Assetto), BeamNG, Emulator stuff ( Horizon1, GT4, Genki/ namco stuff). Today I thought about getting Heat since it has good improvements. Lets see where Unbound leads us...
The main issue today is rushing games on a yearly basis which leads to messy and buggy games that lack the last 5% that would have made them great.
you gotta admit, The Run was one hell of a concept, but i absolutely love the idea of the character being OUT of the car and has dialogue :)
Awesome video! I was suprsied to see that you are at 2.66K subscribers and not 2.66M subscribers, keep up the good work man
The downfall began with Carbon way back in 2006. It was still a solid release, but not quite as good as MW. Pro Street was a disappointment after being spoiled with cop chases for 2 installments in a row, undercover sucked. Shift 1 & 2 were good, but honestly not the embodiment of a true NFS game. The run & MW 2012 were disappointing & rivals wasn't all that. Nfs hp 3 in 2010 was the best game in the last 15 years easily.
In my opinion,Carbon had the potential to be better than most wanted, but the game felt rushed. Too much cut content, the reward cards system sucks,it would've been better if cars unlocked would've been available in career. I also heard that you were supposed to repair the M3 GTR buy they cut that idea off. And on top of that you were supposed to race against Nikki after defeating Darius. It's sad because I really liked the theme of Carbon,it feels like the scariest need for speed. The police chases were also useless in Carbon, unlike Most Wanted.

Heat was such a perfect game. I deserves the love whose calibre is on par with Ubisoft‘s dedication to the Crew 1/2.

@you can edit a comment you know
NFS: MW (2012) had EA's fault written all over it according to grandtheftaero which I will put the link to the video in this comment he said that there was a lot of cut content and concepts cut out of it, for instance, did you know that there was supposed to be a story for this game. Not sure if you can find it in your game files but it should be there.

That saddens me because 2012 had alot of great features and just a base game on release was a fun playground to mess around in but had no depth to it
Because the public response was so bad ea will probably never Implement those features
@@joshua1932 that is true my friend that is true
@@joshua1932 mw2012 is smthn a lot of newer nfs games arent.
Actually enjoyable with fun handling.
Hot Pursuit 2010 was definitely the best one they made from that time to present. It started going down hill after that
That would be Rivals tbh. I like how they took an approach on Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted combined and the cops there are literally brutal as hell. They're underrated but they deserve an applause for being the deadliest cops possible alongside MW 2005.
@@ralphlorenzperolino3054 You are right. Nfs rivals was the last true modern nfs.
I like how you used one of the garage songs from Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition at 15:01
My list.
1- Most Wanted 2005
2- Carbon
3- Underground 2
Literally everyones list has "Underground 2", Most Wanted 05", and Carbon" as top 3
@@yrrr4871 because they are the only good games of nfs to ever exist
@@Dog-0595 yeah no.
I just bought the Hot Pursuit remaster for the Switch and though it's fun to do a few races in handheld mode getting gold medals isn't easy (for me). Last NFS game I played before this was the original Most Wanted on PC and Gamecube and this is still my favourite
Not many people know this but nfs 2015 has an offline mode. It is hidden in the settings. It's still the same game but at least it solves some issues. Also you can disable cop cars but pushing them into spikes that get set on higher heat levels.
They also die if you somehow manage to flip them over
Great video man! Black box games you are still in our hearts
Can someone please tell me how i can download Nfsmw 2005 on pc.
Sail the seas.
Having low health on my rivals MADE ME LITERALLY WANNA THROW MY PS3 CONTROLLER ON MY FUCKING TV... You will require some anger management session after playing it !
Why in rivals, when you do the mission of drive 10 km, would you just drive in circle when you could be doing events at the same time?
In MY opinion I loved NFS 2015 and I even think it's better than payback and it's kinda lower than heat. What I loved was the vibe of the game, it felt like underground, the visuals are even better than heat, the soundtrack is 👌 even though I dislike the cops the handling isn't that bad. I actually never knew that the handling was bad until I played heat, I just "can" drive in the game. The map is actually really cool LA is a really overused city in videogame but I didn't feel the same as some other games, GTAAA. And last but not least the garage, it's cool but it feels small same with the car collection, yeah it has the _Supra_ but nothing interesting eighter, at least it has the NSX from 1992. So basically I give this game a 8/10, payback is a 6/10, Heat is a 8,5/10. I haven't played rivals and
Great video! Loved it can u make a video about ur thoughts in Midnight Club? i miss that games ;((
There might be one for Midnight club 3 PSP at some point
Please share link to NFS MW2012 DLC unlocker
i think mw 2012 is too underrated, that game is so fun man even today, and it aged so well!
I’ve played the hot pursuit remaster, Payback, and Heat. Unbound too but I’m still playing that(it’s good but the cars are ever so slightly heavier so watch for that) and id have to say they are good but I feel payback just felt too constrained to me but that’s all opinion. My order would be Heat, payback, and HP:R
Hot Pursuit 2010 is probably favourite in the franchise.
13:47 It's reasonable, because according to the storyline those cops are trying to takedown racer while trying to not breaking the rule but didn't work
I like listening stuff here , you might be surprised , my fav NFS is The Run , it's exactly the game I wanted ( almost )
-> A black Car you drive
-> Helicoptor chase & shooting you
-> Stage 9 with mountain falling
I have played games from long time. it felt nostalgic even if I have forgotten what kind of game was that, Knight Rider maybe ?
I also love NFSMW 12 which I know separates my opinion. I don't like it's racing and cops feel non-existent. I see it as BP 2
I want to try rivals even tho there are good and bad reviews , I need to
Payback sounds nice . Gotta see that one out too
Heat ofcource yes . I love NFS so being fanboy I gotta check out. If it's bad then it's sad .
NFS 2015 = Online only . :)) you know why I didn't mention it and I don't think servers work well and because the crew 2010 got down from ubisoft , I'm not sure I'd like a online only game.
I actually played all the "Need For Speed," games and it's a few I find dear to me & don't mind playing again....I really thought "NFS Most Wanted (PS2)" was good. "NFS The Run" was awesome. "NFS Heat" one of my favorites. Last "NFS Undercover" wasn't bad either. Some of the "NFS" are hit or miss but the ones I mentioned was my favorites because of type of races & ;the story was better. If you ain't into story based race games then The Burnout series is the best. Or try playing "Gran Turismo".
💯⭐🤩⭐💯⭐🤩💯⭐
is every NFS game open world? did they make any new arcade/course based game like undergounrd1 ?
-1st Question
No.
The only NFS games with Open World are these ones:
- NFS Underground 2
- NFS Most Wanted 2005
- NFS Carbon
- NFS Undercover
- NFS World/Soapbox Race World
- NFS MW 2012/Burnout Fairhaven
- NFS Rivals
- NFS 2015
- NFS Heat
- NFS Payback
- NFS Unbound
- 2nd Question
Not really but there's inspirations.
NFS 2015, NFS Heat and NFS Unbound despite having their own vibe can fit the bill.
5:35 I remember this happening on the Vita port of this and it was hilarious taking them down constantly. My guess is that they're only programmed to obey the game's roads when you're in a race with them. If you were to take them out or they crash out of the race, they basically become brain dead zombies until you go far enough to deload them
Personally, despite the absolute jank that MW ‘12 and Rivals had, they were the most fun NFS games I’ve ever played. I couldn’t really get into 2015-Heat, they just didn’t have the same feeling. Graphic wise 2015 was a marvel, but other than that, it left a lot to be desired. The other 2 games that followed it were also equally disappointing (Speedcross and drifting in Payback were fun) Hopefully Unbound won’t disappoint
I can still go and play nfs mw 2012 with a full online lobby. Is it really that hater or it's just bandwagon hate? I probably know the answer.
Loved the tracks you used in the background from Nfs highstakes, hp2, mc3 etc.
14:37 NFS Rivals is not always online
In my opinion, payback’s map was literally like Mexico from Forza, off-road everywhere. The thing that no one talked about is having “off-road” events in the last 2 games. Heat is the worst for having off-road, I mean NFS is like about tuners but off-road? And again Unbound is also having “off-road” events judging by the SUV cars (Urus, Mercedes etc) so I may not enjoy unbound that much.
Also GG vid! New sub!
9:22 ngl i'm dead seeing you beat agera with a focus 💀
but try to use stock F-150 as well to be harder
Another well done made Video! Love it! ^^
NFS 2015 to me is just a vibe it's lke that assetto corsa mod that has highways of japan with traffic in it it maybe doessn't have the most action and te story was something that i personally didn't like that much but i liked the fact that they had some icons in the game and most importantly it had toyota (the handling was not that good but i got used to it) and because of all of this i kind of liked it :)
but the game that i loved and adored was nfs heat didn't like it's story but god is grinding for cars and having builds of your own (something cursed like putting a v6 inside a miata) like i grinded out to level 50 and had maxed out rwb 911 before the third story mission and boy mocking the characters was ever fun .
I still play nfs heat with my mates. Best NFS since 2010 hands down
13:32 KUUUUURU !!
I swear Kuru is on every ranking record list of every NFS game. The man is a god LMAO
So...
Most Wanted 2012 was my first ever Need for Speed game and i still have nostalgia for it
It was my first mainline nfs game.
NFS wolrd was my first need for speed game.
There hasn't been a really good NFS game since ProStreet. Heat is the best we have had in a long time. Payback is not as bad as people say it is but some people can't even play 2015 or Payback because of the tiny details people complain about. I still had fun with those games and memorable ones too but I prefer 2015 over Payback. I know there are people that are improving 2015 which is awesome because I actually enjoyed that game despite its defects. Hot Pursuit is okay not great and Most wanted is not good and rivals is even worse 2015 was a huge step up. I recently started playing 2015 again on another account and once I'm done with 2015 I will do Payback since I miss it.
NFS most wanted is very nostalgic as my dad and I would sit on the ps3 for hours just driving and running from cops. In my opinion a pretty solid game. Not being super critical and just looking for some good old fashioned fun. I can play this game for a while! NFS rivals is an actual great game and I would say I’m not blinded by nostalgia, as I only played rivals for maybe an hour in total on my ps3
physics in nfs rivals were tied to fps but you could change this in launcher properties so you can 120fps with perfect physics.
nfs 2012 singleplayer was atrocious but the multiplayer was actually the most fun ive ever had in a nfs game idk it felt like a party game
I played a lot of Rivals growing up, so I can comment a bit on things you've missed.
Some things I'll definitely concede:
-yes, the progression is a chore
-yes, racers have like no durability whatsoever, making the cop route more fun
-multiplayer is scary when starting out
-something you didn't comment on that upsets me is the lack of customization in Rivals. You can change the car's color and license plate, and you have a couple of pre-made liveries to choose from, but you can never make a car stand out as your own.
That being said, the game is NOT terminally online. You can play the game without using the internet and it will give you your own world with the AI drivers. Online-wise, the game gets much more tolerable when you unlock better cars that match what the others in the lobby have. There is also a racer car that has cop levels of durability and strength, essentially making it one of the only viable options for high-heat chases. I think it was the Ferrari 599. I also tried playing around with the XJ220 but never got that one completely to my liking. The game is also the most fun in multi-car chases; I by far have the best memories running hot pursuits and hunting down multiple racers consecutively.
I like this game, but it's kind of a "so bad it's good" game for me. I got a lot of fun out of it as a kid, but is it a well-made game? Not really.
EDIT: The best racer car is the F12, not the 599. Also wow this game plays a lot worse than I remember. Still had fun as a kid though
im really loving rivals and it really is taking me back to nfs hot pursuit 2010
TBH I loved Rivals because of how dark the story as. My complaint was lack of cop car customization, more cars, better A.I and oh also other people ruining your single player experience
Actually the car list in Rivals was fucking good. They even had the debut of the Veneno and the P1, and the only complaint that I want EA to bring is the LaFerrari. But still, great car list, because Rivals promoted the NFS movie before it's release, it featured lots of cars such as the One:1, Sesto Elemento, SLR McLaren, and the Spano. No Saleen S7 is seen because EA hasn't gave the rights to license the car in the game. Also, what you said about the AI, they have better cars and cop chases. The cops in Rivals are relentless and they will not stop until you die. Cop car customization, I think they we're trying to semi-upgrade the cars so that you can go faster whenever you want and chase every racer in sight.
@@ralphlorenzperolino3054 I agree with you, Nfs rivals had small but cool car collections
A few things I don't like about modern NFS games
The cities feel dead
There is a extreme lack of ai traffic for a street racing game, yes 2012 sucked but we can take that traffic ai that actually had a suspension setup and wasn't a brick with fake wheels and use it
Maps
Heat had a awful highway network and the roads where unnecessarily wide I understand it's for gameplay purposes but thin streets are fun to race on every now and then
Also palm city makes 0 sense from a urban planning perspective and it kinda kills the emersion
Brake to drift
This should be self explanatory it just sucks
Oversized mods
I just want a modestly sized wing not a whole aircraft part
That concludes my Ted talk thanks for reading 😂
MW'12 traffic in freeroam is the cause of people complaining about the crash cam. So no. A NFS doesn't need that amount of traffic.
And about Brake 2 Drift. It's justa style of driving. It could be good (Hot Pursuit 2010/MW'12), OK (Rivals) or really bad.
Burnout wasn't even the first and only game to use something like Brake 2 Drift
And about mods. I'm not a customization guy. And that's fault of Gran Turismo
Day keeps getting better when dove uploads 💪
If unbound brings back the handling of MW 2012 and gives it a little mix with Payback, then I'd be pretty satisfied. Wasn't too happy with Heat's handling, but I do want them to at least bring the upgrade system and progression back to some degree. I'd even love if they went a little more old school and pulled the tuning system from Underground 2, but that's just me.
NFS is the Fast and Furious franchise of the racing games. They peaked in the 2000's after that they are just milking it.
The last good one was carbon, the reoson they won't make it backwards compatibility.
I think there are a few very distinct eras to the NFS games. There were the early exotic cars and places games(pre Underground) then there was the very distinct tuner culture era(Underground to Carbon) then they tried various more serious versions with pro-street and shift and then we got to the era in this video. I sort of gave up on NFS after pro-street and this video confrimed for me why. I really think they need to get back to basics of what the series was. The whole story aspect was secondary in my mind, it was mainly about racing highly detailed dream cars in fancy locations. Upgrades were usually quite secondary but did help. Only in the Undeground era were upgrades more important than ever, but even then, it was about racing first. See the success of Forza Horizon for example, that's what NFS should have been by now.
