Jokes aside I loved this challenge even if IGN did throw a curve ball at you a few times. Still surprised that they gave somewhat okay advice in this guide, sounds like Jeremy Clarkson wrote it considering how many times they just suggested speed and power all the time lol. One last mention would be the final race, pure cinema. 😎

Clicked on the video when it was uploaded 2h ago, watched like 10 minutes, told myself i'd watch the rest in one sitting later on, now I'm here after a couple of bad things happening in life and then at around the 20 minute mark I get asked how I'm doing.
Honestly, not good. But you achieved your goal Dove, the video has been serving as a good distraction from everything, and you actually pausing the video in the middle just to check in on the people watching definitely made me cheer up a bit.

I think that in terms of guides, IGN tends to do a fairly decent job. Back when I did GT4 and 3 I used their guides as well, and they did their job. I think the problems mostly come after building some experience, as you might realize some of the recommendations weren't really that good, or even outright terrible, but for a newcomer who doesn't want to figure every single thing out for themselves during their first playthrough and wants a sure-fire way of doing things, they largely get the job done.
It's the reviews where it's become increasingly more difficult to take them serious, though, but the same holds true for similar outlets and editorials, too, like Kotaku, who have become a parody of themselves. Nowadays, if you want to play something, just do it and make up your own mind about it, it's almost as if they haven't even played the damn thing themselves sometimes (or cannot maintain objectivity and overcome their very obvious biases).
the Trackmania 2020 music at the start actually fits this game more than TM.
It fits so well that i commented the same but deleted cause i thought i was actually just wrong and it was an actual gt song since it fits perfectly

I found playing with every assist turned off to be the most enjoyable in GT4, even in GT7 I'm still able to be competitive. It's really rewarding once you get the hang of it.

Brooooo i remember just not wanting to waste money in Gran Turismo 5 so i just used IGN gt5 guide and it helped me so much. And like idc if trying new cars and checking if i can win that event i just wanted to do how i liked it, by using a guide and honestly im thankful for it

Man, this takes me back to the days when I was a kid using guides in websites like Gamewinners to help me get past difficult levels in games like Prince of Persia Warrior Within. Also an interesting look back at a time when IGN wasn't completely terrible.

For reference: The Hot Rod competition in the NTSC-U version is called the "Muscle Car Competition" in PAL, with the Muscle Car Competition in NTSC-U being called the "Old Muscle Car Competition" in PAL.
So whilst IGN is partly correct... it's affected by the cross-region renaming of certain events.

I think I said a g27 wheel can't be used on ps5 ps4 the time you streamed 24hours nurburgring and an adapter is expensive.
I found out about the gimx adapter and made one myself for $9 and it works. Makes driving on ps4 so much more enjoyable. Hope you find it helpful.
Here comes a hot take, do the Capri-Rally (Easy) twice with the lancer you bought, than sell one of the won cars and tune the other with the money you earned, then win Yosemite-Rally (Hard) with the tuned Toyota, use the Suzuki Escudu to win another Toyota RCS Rally Raid car, tune the Suzuki Escudo for every race possible and get some other cars that you like for example the RX-7 and the Shelby cobra to win the events where the Suzuki is locked out of, it´s even possible to do the 24h Nurnburgring Race with the escudo if you want the Formula 1.

@@DoVe_7 i wasn't able to find any guide even mentioning the option of using either the Toyota or the Suzuki, most guide's just recommended Cars all over the place so i guessed my take was at least debatable.

Oh this brings me memories of me playing with the guide we had in my country (funny as hell that I randomly found it on the street, not even bought it lmao). That one was real handy except some wrong price cars / events (and well, most of the times just recommended the Minolta)

I was half-right with the guide. It was normie AF, but it was also some of the most expensive nonsense I've seen. The lack of transmission tuning is one thing, but don't even get me started on the nearly non-existant approach of linking cars to multiple events (seriously, an Impreza or an Elise can get so much done!), and then the mythical turbocharged Ford GT...
I don't know how I would set up a guide for this game, though. It'd probably end up being 3 different guides to go over everything, one for strictly following to path to the GTWC, one for loosely following it, and one for 100% Game completion. And that's a lot of work.
They need to nerf ARTY, 45 seconds per reload and 200dmg max, not 400 to 500, thats what they should do!
I thought the Ford GT would work for the Turbo series because it's supercharged (which such an epic blower whine, IRL), which counted as forced induction. I could be wrong, however.

I think ign might have a point on the ford GT, not sure if gt4 makes the distinction but the ford GT is supercharged, so, assuming it isn't just turbos but any car with forced induction, it's fully legal

You don't need a save editor to get free money in GT4, there are button combo cheat codes to get an instant 10 million.

Was fun. Fair GT4 guide I'd say for some choices. They did say to sell some.cars which I mean is a strategy but if to repeat or do the obvious ones is dirty (I'm lazy to sell cars sometimes and irs easy money so moving to the next makes more sense).

Chevelle uh no. Used it enough and I lose with it all the time. But yes it is a reward car. Grind just grind the 2J lol. I don't upgrade the Chevelle really. Wait thinking other US cups, not classic car that would be why.
As someone that uses super hards yes grip sucks but life hmm. I didn't always balance them either of front and back as different.
But yrah super hards and no assists is insane for an official guide, driving missions too and grinding again. Thry clearly don't do side cups to find other options moat players go for to have better chances for the GT World Championship these days. Or other caes to geind.
Also GT One yeah in GT3 I'd do that but compared to GT4 Prototype/LMs no way at least with my skill I wouldn't. Others probably have better luck of course I don't with the AI at least.

Only used their Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks guide for side content details or some directions and it was confusing at times. So yeah anything is possible with their guides or any other user edits then official staff guide edits from any era.
