@@Zikar In the world of Dark Souls, everyone's a necrophiliac with how many people are undead. Some rotting skin ain't too much more of a slippery slope to go down.
The way these priestesses sound like they're underwater is a nice touch. Like they really drowned in the poison, or the dark miasmas that Elana brought with her.
These things suit the concept of tarnished beauty that often runs throughout the soul series. Thwse priestesses may have been quite beautiful before they became what they are now.
There's the tarnished beauties. And then there's the Desert Pyromancers... Even Zoe who was an undead and survived until the literal end of the age still maintained her form.
I really like the finger snapping and general hand and arm motions they do to cast their dark spells, adds alot of flare and personality as well as make the arts of magic feel more alive and involved. (Not just fire and forget spamming) *Edit:* Also makes me wish the dark souls games could've allowed for an alternative to usual magic catalysts or tailsmen, basically the magic equivalent to unarmed equipment like maybe a pair of enchanted gloves that could be dropped from secret bosses or found by exploring that when used instead of staffs would play body animations similar to the sanctum priestesses and maybe other enemies who can seemingly cast without a catalyst. (Probably because *they become their own catalyst)* It would be even cooler if using such gear could change how spells usually behave, not necessarily be more powerful but maybe could have something like being able to control when certain spells launch or fire at targets like the homing soul mass spells via *a snap of the fingers* instead of it being on a timer, you the player could control when it's allowed to go after an opponent. Could be game changing and... maybe a bit overpowered, hard to know because we never got something like that!
Wow... So many cool little details that I never noticed. And now I was thinking, what if their "helmet" is a reference to Manus' head? Because it's quite logical, considering that they are infected with the abyss that Elana brought.
The Priestesses are hollow undead as they are affected by Soul Appease. I wonder if they are bound by the magic of Elana as they are covered in the same plant-like exterior as her. It would seem unlikely that Elana would adopt to their style of dress. So I imagine most of the priestess's clothing and patches of their skin burned away when the dragon's stash of miasma flooded the city when it was skewered by Sir Yorgh's spear, then Elana ensnared them to her will with her nature magic. If their clothing is a plant coming up from the ground that would explain why they can't move. At least I assume Elana's magic has some connection to nature with the flower like exterior of her clothing, she seems to create golems from mud, and she says we're "not deserving of the mire" (bog or marsh) when she starts the boss fight.
The fact that the default move animation is just their hips swaying speaks volumes what they were wanting for us feel. As a monster girl enjoyer, everything except that mouth is peak.
Again undead turn into something vegetal. These priestesses ate cowered in flowers. Reminds me of the undead turning into trees in ds3 and the four kings having roots coming from their curse mark
You forgot to show the unique death animation where she casts dark fog (or it might be poison mist but that wouldn’t make sense because that’s a pyromancy and she uses only dark magic afaik). It’s been awhile since I’ve fought one of them.
The cloud is poison. It could be remnants of Shin's poison that flooded Shulva and killed everyone, with the last bit of poison left in them sometimes bursting out upon death.
I like the detail that they snap their fingers while casting hex and poison spells along with their wrist chime ringing. They cast with rhythm and style.
... Huh... So before "rotussy" was a thing... Fromsoft had already given the community "robooty"? Still, no feet, so I'm sure she wasn't a fanfavorite for the developer xD
There's nice attention to detail to this enemy. The instruments strapped to each arm and used to cast hexes. Its corrupted and decaying form bearing reference to her lost humanity and lost beauty that the priestesses were once able to appreciate.
not included on the video, but she have another death animation where she curses at the skies, then pound the earth generating a poison cloud it isn't as annoying as parasitic spider "last attack", but still can caught people by surprise

Ghaah, I never realized they made garbled speech noises when they cast! Even freakier now! I mean, the cake is still THERE, of course, but two things can be true at once!
I mean, in Ds1 you have: two half-naked spider ladies, the femboy, his sister "amazing chest ahead", the thick woman with a butcher knife and the barefoot giant furry girl with the moan glitch... every souls game is horny af.
