Malayalam movies have always been like this. Not just 2024, throughout, my scope includes 80s 90s 2000s. Watch the original Drishyam, Aattam, Aarkariyam etc. All are done superbly. Religious expressions, friendship, crime thriller, political brewing etc all are carried superbly

One of the reason being Malayalam industry to be this different is because of the tendency of the general Malayalees to laugh at oneself, not taking a serious moral stance on one's own point of views and outlooks. The tendency to be sarcastic about one's own orthodoxy makes it enjoy a different level of freedom for the makers. There is this underlying flamboyancy in looking at life with a leisurely and a lazy perspective, which gives them power to tap the '.5' between the 1s and 0s of life :)

Whats u said does not hold 100% true today. Malayalees are also loosing out on the rare trait to laugh on ourselves with every passing day.
But neverthe less well put bro.
