The body's natural rhythm is to release DHEA primarily in the morning. Thus most expert literature suggests mimicking this natural rhythm, by taking DHEA only in the morning.
Further, some more in-depth medical literature suggests that taking DHEA at night could upset the circadian rhythm and negatively impact sleep.
Can you please elaborate further on why you'd suggest taking this as night?

My experience with DHEA is that it's best taken in small doses in small bursts (2-3 days and then off for weeks). I'm talking about breaking open a 25mg capsule and putting about 2-5mg of the powder into water and drinking it. Pull back if you feel any sensitivity on the nipples.
The DHEA metabolites like 3a-diol are potent neurosteroids but they'll also cause acne and increased hair loss, so be careful with this one.
Benefits include acute increases in strength, fullness in the muscle, better skin, neuronal drive, and improvement in CNS function - even at these small doses.

Excellent discussion, Mike; as a clinician, I feel that the shifts in DHEA are one of the first changes that occur in perimenopause; I definitely like to track DHEA levels in serum and the DUTCH; I do find that certain products, like 7-Keto DHEA by DFH are less likely to aromatize to estrogen in my female patients. There’s a lot of hype regarding the benefits of DHEA potentially in men in particular. There have been a few meta-analysis. Looking into this. In general, there seems to be get support for cardiovascular benefit. In older men, there seems to be support for the idea that DHEA can help with bone density. And then we have some interesting studies like the study out of UCLA and the journals cell that combined DHEA with human growth hormone a met Forman, which seems to have improved immunosenescence and reversed epigenetic aging markers.

Thank you for this informational video. I tested my DHEA-S in saliva test, later also blood test. My level was only 1/4 to 1/5 of normal, maybe that is why I felt so tired most days.
I tried doses and it made me very amped up and anxious. I could never take it at night, it can cause insomnia even when taken in morning.
What I cautiously did was take 2.5 to 5 mg every other day. Besides making hormones, DHEA also has neuro stimulating effects on the brain.
I am over 40 and can’t take that 40 mg suggested dose. I’d recommend for men to go low and slow, try only 5 mg, perhaps daily or every other day, see how you feel and sleep.
It can make your skin oily also. Also be sure to monitor DHEA-S levels periodically. And some sort of cycle with off times.
More energy and vitality is good, but anxiety and insomnia is not. Low & slow.

Anecdotally, at mid 30s I once out of the blue took I think it was a 25mg dhea, didn't notice much that evening but the next day I woke up and felt incredible the entire day. I felt like I thought I should feel, calm, confident, strong, at ease with anything, anxiety was just gone(very rare for me). But never got the same result again, even with the same bottle. Years later I tried again but started with 10mg per day, to ease into it so I could notice which dose size was best. Did it for a week or so and noticed slightly enhanced energy, but one day I suddenly crashed energy wise. I was brutally lethargic which was extremely odd, and since there wasn't any other change in my routine I confidently attributed it to the dhea and haven't tried again. It's tricky because that one day when it worked was amazing, so much that a decade later I haven't forgotten, but haven't been able to recreate it and that lethargy was brutal. I wonder what that was about? Estrogen crash or something? No bloods to confirm but I highly suspect I'm reasonably low T due to reckless use of aas in mid 20s.

20+ years ago, when I used to lift seriously, I used to take DHEA. I had it dosed in a liquid transport and would apply it to my inner thigh. The transport was nothing more than a clear, watery lotion with DMSO. It would allow the DHEA to penetrate the inside of the thigh and go straight to the bloodstream. This way, the bioavailability was through the roof compared to taking it orally and having your stomach acids and liver destroying most of it. At that time, I was at the greatest peak of my physical abilities in my life and got the most insane gains I have ever had. According to my wife, it had two major problems. 1) The sex-drive was ridiculously high and it would never let up. Hey Mike! Quick question, im reviewing your various vids on DHEA as I begin taking it myself. In this and another vid you recommend taking it at night. But in the info vid with your product on Myoxcience you suggest taking it in the morning. If you have a chance to make a follow up video or short clarifying when to take it (or why one might take it AM vs PM), I'd be so grateful! there is so much fear-mongering esp for women looking for info on how to take it, I'd love to get this advice from you as someone I trust! I always appreciate your content. Thank you.

dhea is a precursor to androstenedione which is a precursor to testosterone. i tried androstenedione decades ago back in my bodybuilding days and found it indeed did work, but as most scientists tell you: it increased testosterone for a few weeks, which then leveled off because of the body's reaction in reducing its natural testosterone in response. thus the requirement for cycling, just to keep a somewhat consistent level. the added testosterone, on top of making me edgy like way too much coffee, yielded hair loss from the testosterone breakdown to DHT. between the body's own reduction reaction, the unnatural feel of the added testosterone, and the hair loss, i decided to stop taking it and stay natural. i was in my 30s at the time, and even over 50 today, i will not go that route.

I’m a 50 year old male and have been taking DHEA periodically since I was probably in my late 30’s. I tend to take a low 10 mg tablet twice a week which I’m sure is super low for some people. But I also didn’t want to have any side effects to have it cause other issues. In high amounts it can also cause insomnia so I tend to take it upon waking which is what’s suggested anyway.
Definitely noticeable improvement in mood, energy, libido and muscle tone when I take it. I also workout regularly and have been since I was a teenager.

I was thinking that they are both precursors to testosterone but dhea comes from pregnalone. What is a reason why one would not use pregnalone instead of dhea? Major Risk for Women: DHEA and testosterone ride around on albumin molecules. Years of testosterone production tends to also occupy DHEA sites on albumin when DHEA is in short supply. Then, when you supplement with DHEA, once the DHEA sites on the albumin have been occupied, it starts kicking off the misplaced testosterone - which briefly makes a testosterone peak - but it also produces a brief testosterone overdoes that long-term down-regulates the sensitivity of the testosterone receptors. The net effect is that ladies' libido is DESTROYED for a decade or so - which is a real life-wrecker.
DHEA supplementing is usually a really BAD idea for women, but for those who want to risk it, they MUST understand this risk, so they can immediately stop supplementing at the first signs of their libido running out of control. Again, this can be a real life-wrecker.

Here's the issue with supplementing DHEA that my hormonal groups have found, it's a lost cause if cortisol levels are also off... and if DHEA is off, you can have a darn near sure bet your cortisol levels are also off. And the common ways doctors test adrenals are not adequate for detecting anything beyond Cushings and Addison levels and being in range is also not the same as optimal cortisol levels. ._. And I'd say based on the things I saw as a former health group admin, that there is a growing problem with adrenal issues in people... just crazy common. Which is very bad, because it's not just adrenals, that effects sex hormones and thyroid too, they're all very interconnected.
