I have been taking low dose 15mg of zinc with 1mg of copper for over 2 decades. Zinc level was normal level last blood test. High testosterone levels. I never get sick or a cold. I get 2 hrs of deep sleep while on zinc. On the days I missed a dose, my deep sleep went down by a hour. Zinc is amazing . Just watch out for the vivid dreams. They can get intense

If supplementing with zinc, make sure that you cycle it with other trace minerals (heme iron, copper, selenium, iodine, manganese, boron, chromium, etc.) Taking zinc, or any isolated trace mineral long-term, will eventually lead to deficiencies in the other trace minerals, as all trace minerals compete for absorption and metabolism.

Copper and zinc are antagonists so they work against each other, but you need both. Copper is estrogenic and is needed for iron in blood, while zinc is androgenic and needed for the immune system. Coppers effects on hormones occurs before zinc, so being low on copper could have a negative effect on testosterone, while too much copper will push down zinc and promote estrogen.

Zinc is used a lot for Phase 1 and Phase 2 Liver Detox. There are many factors for low Zinc deficiency but this one takes the cake. Living in a polluted world and or eating junk foods increases the need for Zinc. Zinc Picolinate has the best bioavailability since most other forms of zinc have low bioavailability and conversion in the body. Also, interestingly enough if someone cannot detox well through sweating and having bowel movements, the body can get rid of metabolic by-products from ejaculation. Not that this is the best route but it is important to open your body's route of detoxing by supporting Liver health and keeping Zinc stores adequate, as Zinc does help in over 200 enzymatic reactions

On some level I am glad I started taking zinc because it dialed up my restless legs to worst level it's been in a long time. Thankfully I was doing absolutely nothing else differently at the time and it got me into looking into zinc's competitive absorption with other minerals. At first I started taking iron and it seemed to be a total cure, but then the symptoms started to come back and even turned into pain! I started taking copper after learning that it is involved with iron transport to the brain and is also antagonized by zinc supplementation. My RLS is now the most mild it's ever been and I suspect I'll be able to fully stop taking kratom for it.

Great video! As always. However, shouldn't we consider the risks of supplementing too much zink? If you eat a lot of zink and you take supplements; you can consume too much, which stops your body absorbing less reactive metals: for example copper is absorbed through a related pathway but zink will bind first because it's far more reactive. This means over supplementing metals can cause deficiencies in the less reactive metals.

The mercury accumulates in the bones and in the brain (fat tissue). It can take a couple of years to clear it out. I have no experience of the strong chelating protocols, but I do pulse MSM, which is a mild chelator, a sulfur compound, and a blood thinner.
What kind of zinc dose is your husband taking? I take 30mg of zinc glycinate chelate in a capsule. He may want to try a lower dose, taken with different meals during the day. I have found that there is a difference between brands of zinc, one made me nauseous. Zinc containing foods should be far less provocative than supplements. That might help too. Red meat, poultry, and eggs are rich in zinc. Grains and legumes inhibit zinc absorption.
With neurological symptoms, you might want to look into nootropics which support re-myelination. A ketovore diet or even a period of carnivory would probably help. It has shown to be beneficial for parkinson's patients.

Anecdotal but during peak CV-19 I was hitting a bunch of the supplements suggested to help with CV-19, Vit D, Vit C, Omega 3, NAC, Zinc, turmeric, and a few other things, at the time I was working out moderately 3-4 times a week, mostly looking to just maintain, but it ended up I started making strength and mass gains, I was pleasantly surprised, I attributed it to the Vit D, I was taking 5,000IU's a day, fast forward and I ended up with CV-19, the only symptom was cold sweats for about 30 hours, with it in rear view mirror I kept taking all of the above-mentioned supplements with 2 exceptions, I backed off on the NAC but still took 600mg 2-3 times a week, but I cut out the Zinc completely because it gave me an upset stomach, for about 5-10 minutes I feel like throwing up,.....a few months down the road, the strength mass gains stopped, and it was more back to battling to maintain(I'm 50), I never once considered the Zinc, I figured it was maybe the NAC or simply the reality of my age and testosterone taking a dip.....I'm excited to see this I will be going back on the Zinc Gluconate(50mg) and see what happens.

This might be unrelated but I routinely got an upset stomach and urge to throw up a few minutes after taking supplements including zinc, in the morning, and I switched to taking them after having a bite to eat, or an hour after lunch. Completely solved it. The nausea was due to taking them on an empty stomach. Maybe that would solve it for you? I know taking them on an empty stomach helps you absorb everything better, at least that was my impression, but the tradeoff is not worth it for my comfort

Too much zinc will cause a copper deficiency. Copper is required for iron utilization, so a shortage of copper can cause iron to build up, especially in men (and post-menopausal women). We're seeing lots and lots of men with high ferritin levels after everyone started pounding the zinc to ward off the disease that went around 3 years ago. Get your zinc/copper and ferritin levels tested.
