Good question Derek! The reason you pust it to the front is for recoil and inertia. Having it pushed to the front it will less likely move in the mount under recoil. Thanks for the question!
Currently building a rifle that is intended to be used for 3 gun/ multi gun purposes and am looking at the scalarworks leap08 mount. They offer it in the following 2 heights: 1.57 and 1.93. Which height would you recommend?

I really think that it would be dependent in too many variables. Let us know what you end up doing..
