    Hay Mark, loved this episode! Nice to see you just dig in a do it. I could totally see your thought process without explanation. Great video.

    I love watching this build series, but your client must have the patience of Job.

      We're getting close. I may have to break it into three videos for best results.

    Another enjoyable video thanks for posting , tbh when you said you were just going to plywood the deck i was like what! Don't get me wrong I am not a boat builder so I wouldn't know any better but when you said : I am also going to plank it I went Ahhh :). I think we have that in common we both realize its going to be more work and for me a lot of the time the client probably won't even appreciate the difference but doing the best we can do regardless is what's important.

    Firehose Cradle: It there a reason to use the flexible cradle setup instead of something more rigid? Possible same four posts, but with adjustable padded shoes so that where they contact the hull, they self adjust. The movement of the hull when sanding appears to use up energy verses sanding the hull if held rigidly. What am I missing?

      You’re no missing anything. It was just speed and simplicity. There were moments when the movement works against me but it wasn't a big deal. I'm used to working in slings with canoes.

    I played it at 1.5 speed. Very entertaining

    as the long project precedes I believe your getting burned out some what my wood working is for a client per say as I sell from a shop I find my self tired bored I have to walk away from it might even start on next project just to get my head cleared out only for a couple of days but it renews my enthusiasm I once had on the project in progress just my way of dealing with stress

    • @Nomadboatbuilding
      @Nomadboatbuilding  2 года назад

      Staying focused on long projects is always a challenge but there are always some small projects that come along to break things up a little without delaying the main project too much. I always pause work in the shop for a while in the summer to clear the head as well.

    this project looks very well done but why is it so small?

    • @Nomadboatbuilding
      @Nomadboatbuilding  3 года назад +1

      They started out as a miniaturized 12 metre design that went through a few variations. I suppose when they scaled it down they just settled on this as being a good size. Any bigger at they wouldn’t be practical to store out of the water. There’s a link to the history of the class in the description.

    does your client realize that you are cutting corners using two pieces like that won't it take away some rigidity from the boat what is one sheet of plywood on a project of your magnitude

    • @Nomadboatbuilding
      @Nomadboatbuilding  2 года назад

      It’s not cutting corners at all. It’s being prudent with materials. There’s no appreciable loss of rigidity in this application.

      Ok never mind I guess the aft panels were not additional hatches

    it looks longer than 2.4 meters. what part measures 2.4m ?

    • @Nomadboatbuilding
      @Nomadboatbuilding  3 года назад

      None of it actually. It's part of the equation to which the designs in this class have to adhere. I spell it out at the one minute mark of the first episode.

    If you blew a staple out the side of the boat, i would have cursed and felt bad for you.
    I watched a video series of a guy restoring a pontiac feiro and he did a perfect job until he poked a hole in the headliner installing the sun visor. I felt so bad for him. .

    I don't know......I turn my back for 5 minutes and you just about finish the hull whilst I'm away! I'll be intrigued to see how you lose the edge of the ply once the deck "planking" (veneer) is on.

    • @Nomadboatbuilding
      @Nomadboatbuilding  3 года назад

      Well maybe you should have done a shoulder check a couple minutes earlier Mike!

    Not really impressed the way You work on a boat that wobbles and flops in the cradle. I built a proper fitting seat for the hull.

    • @Nomadboatbuilding
      @Nomadboatbuilding  3 года назад

      It's just something I'm used to from doing canoe restorations. There were a number of reasons why I didn't build a different cradle. Most of the time I was able to lock it in place but a few operations prevented it.
