I mean that doesn't really make much sense, you happen to have not picked a perk that didn't work due to an error, but the concept of the perk itself is still reasonable. Why would having a bonus to energy weapon damage negation sound stupid to you? There are other perks that are far more nonsensical than "bright armor makes bright lights bounce"

Also, Certified Tech only adds 0.25% critical chance against robots, not 25%; but on the flip side, Chemist doubles the duration of every consumable item effect in the game, not just chems.
A very strong perk. I built an entire build of a drug addict killer with an automatic weapon based on it. With med x, buffout, psycho, energy drink, quantum nuclear cola and turbo, my courier tore apart everything living and non-living. I achieved a turbo duration of 6 seconds. Considering the turbo injector from the big mountain, I could slow down time every battle. I invented the Sandevestian build long before it existed! You could dodge robot missiles while shooting along the way, or cut your opponent with a katana at monstrous speed.
@@slumsnake1303 Took me forever to begin playing as someone who used consumables. That perk when playing it ended up being hilarious. Because of it I'd take the stupid ass path in the center in New Vegas if I had enough Jet and dump on the few I needed to kill to beeline some things. Fallout and the Elder Scrolls are the games that broke me of my old school habit when playing RPG's of never using items like that.
Another perk in Dead Money that doesn't work is "Junk Loader" where devs left placeholder recipes, and didn't finish. So instead junk items giving you appropriate number of JNK rounds, each recipe gives 1 normal round.
Another big issue is you simply don't come across that many energy weapons in base game. Maybe the fiends but you can drop them with a varmint rifle, by dlc like lonesome road or old world blues you're already well enough to not need this perk
I hope they bring this back in a future game. At least a working version would be interesting with shiny power armor. Edit: Ok, after the feedback, I have come to a conclusion. It should work most of the time but it will randomly not work based on luck. If a player dies to this they earn an achievement with the description " was that energy or energyweapons damage?"

I think it is more interesting to give something you speck in better rather then general buffs. Also that would have made sunglasses builds a thing and that is hilarious. And yet Bethesda can't figure it out. It says volumes about their capacity as developers when they're making the buggiest and most broken games ever made.
Literally all they had to do was go into the, I'm guessing C+ file, for this skill rename it to check EnergyWeapons instead of Energy. Would take maybe five seconds.

Always wondered why you would take a skill giving +5 like that’s going to save your life. So many better options I feel like, especially now knowing it doesn’t even work
Start game with 10 intelligence and 7 agility. Do tutorial stuff to level up and get the agility perk which negates crit damage while wearing light armour. Leave starting area and respec to whatever you want...I recommend 8 endurance 1 agility and 7 luck. It'll let you choose your level up perk again... And you'll keep the previously chosen perk. The stat choices I recommend are because of implants, the dead money clothing return exploit, and the implant/naughty nightwear combination which brings you to 9 luck which is more than enough to get kicked out of all casinos while still providing enough stat points to go around.
Why would you tryhard in a rpg? What's the point of creating character with stats if you just are gonna maximize everything with an exploit? Why don't you just give max stats and perks at that point with console command?

Even if it wasn't bugged, most people wouldn't take it, unlike it's brother perk, Stonewall that is very valuable giving you +5 DT (regardless of what you're wearing) vs the most common type of dmg aka melee and unarmed weapons (including animals, monsters, mutants and robots melee attacks), also giving you a nice bonus of having knockdown immunity (good vs both melee and explosives) This perk just doesn't give you enough value to justify itself in most situations, energy weapons are very uncommon unless you plan on fighting the brotherhood, the van graphs and/or big mountain robots on a daily basis, with no bonus secondary effect like stonewall has

Its things like this that add to the charm of FO:NV and really remind you that it was made on a broken engine in 18 months by a team that was learning said engine as the game was being developed. And I, for one, love it for that.

Not to mention absolutely no main faction uses energy weapons in NV (besides the brotherhood but they're not really seen around outside the bunker). The only instance I can see this perk being useful for side quests or roaming around the mojave (if it worked) is in the old world blues DLC, doing the birds of a feather/heartache by the number quest, going up against fiends, or killing Jason Bright and his followers for shits and giggles.
Noticed this while playing awhile back, had to restart the ENTIRE play through from level 10 when I had already completed lonesome road+owb+dead money.
I'm so glad I never got this I have always wondered if Deathclaws come to your rescue in the Animal Friend perk though I know it doesn't work when you're fighting other creatures
Yeah it just felt too situational, too early for it to be useful, and not strong enough to justify it over other perks by the time you get power armor.

Why is power armor and NCR Ranger Combat armor low tier? I always thought they where pretty advanced.

It lists things like power armor, rad suits, metal armor, NCR ranger armor, legionary armor.
Obviously it wouldnt restrict you to just metal armor and shades. Shame it didnt work in the first place.

Its things like this that add to the charm of FO:NV and really remind you that it was made on a broken engine in 18 months by a team that was learning said engine as the game was being developed. And I, for one, love it for that.

They´re a small indie company, you can´t expect them to fix something of this magnitude in 10 years even if the entire playerbase has known about it since 1.01.
That is so braindead. This can be fixed in 5 minutes. All it takes is one or two people to fix this. Not to mention it most definitely is not a small indie company. They have more than enough hands to fix this bug. They simply chose not to.

Not to mention absolutely no main faction uses energy weapons in NV (besides the brotherhood but they're not really seen around outside the bunker). The only instance I can see this perk being useful for side quests or roaming around the mojave (if it worked) is in the old world blues DLC, doing the birds of a feather/heartache by the number quest, going up against fiends, or killing Jason Bright and his followers for shits and giggles.
Noticed this while playing awhile back, had to restart the ENTIRE play through from level 10 when I had already completed lonesome road+owb+dead money.

Yeah it just felt too situational, too early for it to be useful, and not strong enough to justify it over other perks by the time you get power armor.
