I have the Screen Record function figured out now on this Iphone 13 Pro Max. Who knew it was native in the iPhone? Just buried among hundreds of options. Thanks audience for the comments and allowing me to learn something today.
Ok, I just checked and 20 of these ESC's were bought using our links and now they're out of stock. Hope they can refill inventory soon. Thank you all who purchased and let us know how it works out.
I really wanted one for my ZP-1001...I have a 1060 I've been holding on to, but this video inspired me to hunt down this ESC for my little TRX4 knock-off. Thank you for this excellent video review. I appreciate being educated about new options available for my hobby.
What is the continuous amps on the internal BEC? Voltage gives you speed but once load is introduced , that's where the continuous amperage is much more important. I believe Hobbywing is either 5 or 6 amps continuous. Mamba X is 8 amps peak but 5 or 6 amps continuous.
I picked up a 1080 based on your reviews when I got my TRX4 Sport last year, but more competition in the market is always a good thing for everyone! If nothing else, maybe Hobbywing will bring the 1080 down in price in the future…
I honestly trust the 1080 more plus the extra 10 amp capacity makes the extra $20 worth it and the hobbywing name but I will wait for a real review of the finished product
Agreed. This video is more of an unboxing, with a quick spin up some fake rocks. I'm hoping Francis will do a follow-up after giving the product a thorough shakedown. Groovy features aside, an ESC lives or dies by whether it can handle intense fluctuating power for hours on end, in and out of water, in freezing or scorching temperatures -- something the 1080 has proven it can do. You don't want to be stuck out on the trail with a less expensive ESC that connects to your iPhone (sometimes) but can't make your truck go.
After your first review of Hobbywing 1080 we have bought a lot of them and are for sure optimal for Crawling! After this review I have ordered it immediately !! Thanks for your really interesting job !
7:10 Sounds to me like "Active Drag Brake" is what HW inexplicably calls Freewheeling. Creeping downhill with the 1080 is much smoother with Freewheeling enabled, especially with a three-slot motor. That said, it is either off (default) or on (enable setting 15) but you cannot adjust how much, so that's a cool feature -- just not new or unique.

Francis you mentioned before that the trx4 micro servos can handle 7.4v but when I contacted traxxas they said they’re only capable of 6v… seems kinda dumb to include a 7.4v esc if all the included electronics will only do 6v and the esc is a weak point as it is, why not give us a cheaper 6v esc and make the truck cheaper in this case???
@@RCReviewChannel well that just made my life a whole lot easier. I have not crossed the 6V for fear of frying my recievers and i have after market stuff no RTR stuff.
I was worried about this with my trx4 since it still uses the traxxas micro servos didn't want to run them over 6 volts so I used a hobbywing bec and only used it to send power to my servo instead of servo and reciever that way micros get 6 volts and my nsdrc steering servo gets 7.4 or 8.4 volts. Hobbywing makes a strong one that has dip switches on it to change voltage without having to program it, I like that part.
My stock trx4 motor is finally cooked I think. Besides price, is there any advantage for this system compared to something like the hobbywing brushless?
Looks good for $25 bucks I’ll give one a try. I have always wished you could buy the hw 1080 with or without the program box, how many of those does a guy need?
Thanks a lot Sir, it's always a pleasure to see you getting excited but yet beeing objective when reviewing a product. Sir, you earned my trust and finally a subscription. Have a great 2022.
The ESC70 is absolutely NOT ready for prime-time. It basically doesn't work. I tried it in two different rigs with two different radios, and at one point spent 30+ minutes just getting the app to recognize the ESC all. It's more about "timeout" and "sending parameters failed" than anything else. Never did manage to change the drag brake force. The app is a dumpster fire. I wouldn't wish this ESC on my worst enemy. Is the HW 1080 worth the additional 19 bucks? Well, it actually works, so... yeah. Yeah it is.
I'd love to see you do a completely new, start fresh review soon. This time just don't compare it to any other ESC and judge it as you see just it. Im using an android Samsung galaxy s22 ultra though for the app side, and have never used an apple phone, so I don't know if that's a thing, but any time I restart my ESC I have to restart my app. It connects alot cleaner when I change settings. I'm running mine in a FMS Smasher custom with a 130 sized motor, and it makes my truck super powerful on 3s. But I usually use 2s just to keep it more realistic to the older 80s monster truck era. Those trucks weren't back flipping, they were straight racing! So I use the ESC for the punch at the start, and punch out of turns and up onto piles of crushed cars... Lol Good luck man! PS I was using a 1060 before this, and I do prefer this to the 1060 only because I couldn't program it. I've never owned a 1080. I've always ran brushless Castle and was sponsored by them in my 1/10 Scale monster truck Pro-Mod days. I got out, stayed out till about 6 months ago cause I seen the FMS Smasher v2 and it was only 1/ 24 scale! Perfect for chasing the cat around the house and ramping lines of shoes...😉🖖🍻
@@Captain_Tool_Vicarious I don't know if you're talking to me or him, but the ESC70 is still hot garbage. Maybe you've found a secret running it in a 6" long truck on 2S, fitted with a 130 motor. Because it's still objectively terrible paired to ANY 540 motor you could choose. I've tested a factory-fresh, new out of the plastic unit with brand new firmware and it was still awful in every way. The app slaving is unforgivable, particularly after you've experienced what app integration looks like.
@@CrawlerCanyon never mind... Lol I just got mine up and fully running, and there's glitches all over the place. I'm definitely going either back to the 1060 or full brushless sensored. Done with this thing. I apologize, I should have had it fully running before I commented. I only just did a quick hook up and turn on and it was fine, then I tried adjusting stuff, now the damn servos are trying to turn when I use the throttle!! Lmao... Thing is bonkers. I redact my statement from earlier and don't wish anymore suffering to you good sir. Your sanity can only handle so much. You definitely tried!! I watched all your vids. Now I gotta box this thing up, and get it back to Amazon.... 🤷🤦

Looks good for $25 bucks I’ll give one a try. I have always wished you could buy the hw 1080 with or without the program box, how many of those does a guy need?
I'll buy a Progam card off of you, if you have a few of them. I bought a used RC with the 1080 but no card.
@@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 As many as he can afford
I enjoy this ESC
Is there anything these days which isn’t controlled by your phone 🤔
You need an elgato for screen capture. Looks a lot better than point and shoot. Just an idea, love your content either way.
will this work on a 1\16 scal wpl24?
Never has success with LiPo. Still running brushed motors and NiMH batteries because i know they work.
Damn, wish I had seen this sooner!
Really hope they get more stock and sell at the same price.
Buggy and time outs are a god reason to avoid it. Also getting phone out every time to change settings is longer than on 1080. 1080 all the way.
We'll see how soon the bugs are fixed.
Getting the phone out is 3x faster and more intuitive than plugging in an LED card IMHO
but u will bring your phone anywhere. can you do it with program card?
That's a brushed esc?
Wich motor were you using?
Any idea on the motor turn limit for this ESC?
Can this work without the switch connected?
What motor and steering servo would you pair with it for a crawler build 🤔
Motor would be a 21 turn Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster Sport snp.link/c31e978f
This would be a good servo snp.link/91f399cb
ISDT ESC70 - catchy name :D
wow nice product competition is good!
Do you know if it comes in a version with the Deans connector
no wires or XT60 only options for now.
Not available on Amazon or EBay?
Awesome review. Very cool.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm buying one
is it waterproof?
1080 is very easy to program. The card is usefull
Easy if you have it with you and if you've done it before. Not having to wire something in, and using Bluetooth seems way more convenient though.
First they have to fix their software.
Thanks a lot Sir, it's always a pleasure to see you getting excited but yet beeing objective when reviewing a product. Sir, you earned my trust and finally a subscription. Have a great 2022.
Thanks for sharing. Love it.
Looks very good
It is!
@@RCReviewChannel now to get hands on one
Its funny how castle wants more for a bluetooth module then this entire ESC!
So so true. This is a wake up call fore castle!
Hell I found one and bought it
VERY NICE
@RCreviewe …I need one of those program boxes !!! Lol. Send me one plz? . Lol.
You have an iPhone why not just use the screen record feature swipe up from the bottom it should be there
Before watching it has to be the 1080
Durability test pls. Let it burn up 2-or more
batteries under load nonstop.
Unavailable currently.
Amazon sold out just hours later, DAMMIT!!
I got one and it didn’t last 10 minutes. Hobbywing 1080 Is better quality. Plastic case was hot and has no visible heat sink. Complete plastic case. I wouldn’t recommend this. Sorry but this review sold me.
Is it waterproof
Yes it is.
@@RCReviewChannel badass sadly seems anyone that sells it at pricing u mentioned either dont sell it anymore or have marked it up almost to 1080s priceing now tho
Already sold out in Amazon….😳
bluetooth will always be buggy needs to be very close without any interference
You have saved me so much time and money !
Thank you sir! This video is awesome, I almost got the other one you used to like. Lol
It's cool seeing you get excited 🙏
Respect to you.
You are welcome!
I got 2 of them, so far they are unusable because of programming issues with the app. Super lame...
