I bought this with my first crawler kit. I'm blown away with the price I paid. 40 bucks. To put it in perspective the last speed control I bought was a Novak roost. (When esc's were fairly new technology lol.) I think I paid a 100 ish then late 80's early 90. Nitro ruled the day back then because of cost and run time. My kids are young and might not ever get to experience pipe burns and tears running from their eyes while tuning a hot nitro setup.

I want to install this esc with a Holmes Hobbies Trailmaaster Sport motor on my trx4 sport crawler, so the question is how can I manage to reverse the rotation of the motor?
Is this ESC okay to use on 3s with the Holmes Hobbies 13 turn 540 Crawlmaster sport? It says in the specs that it should be 16 turn or hire for 3s. John Holmes said in one of his videos that the 13 turn is equivalent to the Trailmaster 27 turn so I'm wondering if it would be okay for the ESC?

@rcreview Another great review 👍😄. Thank you. For a newbie like me this is. awesome 😉 One question.... can the 1080 run a Savox 1012SG without BEC on a Trx4 ? That would be nice
Yea so I put the cheap servo you suggested the 1080 hobbywing but I wanted speed for fun I don't compete so I put the holms hobby 8 turn in it. Turned up the punch settings and stuff so much fun it still goes so slow it will load up a lil but it still creeps. I also put the overdrive gear and brass outer portal cover. Faster than my wraith spawn. It climbs dirt nasty loose hills really well.
Depends how yow want to crawl. I personally prefer a Tekin 35T, as a full drag brake will stop my 8lb rig dead on a decent incline. But I also run 3s for the 'when in doubt, power out' moments.
Silly question. Bought this on your recommend for my trx Bronco. It seems stronger and definitely more control. I have 7.5v 25kg steering servo but was wondering if bumping BEC to the 7+ volts would fry the two receiver and the mini servos? If this is the case, I was thinking of running a 5v or 6v BEC to receiver, linked to signal wire from esc then sending the esc servo lead, plus and minus to supply the 7+ volts to servo and just servo signal wire to receiver?
@@RCReviewChannel Thanks for responding. I have the traxxas brand rock lights, headlight and taillight kit, and light bar on roof. All traxxas brand with the included traxxas power supply. I had it initially with the stock esc.
Hi there, great video. Can I please check whether I can use this Hobbywing 1080 ESC on the 7.4V setting with the TRX4 chassis kit noting that the little servos on the chassis kit can only run at 6V max? I'm tossing up whether to upgrade to this Hobbywing ESC, or just go with the stock ESC with the 2262 BEC to power the 2255 servo. My thinking is that I can never get to use the 7.4V setting to give the 2255 servo more power due to the limitations of the little servos. Would appreciate your thoughts?
Hello Great video very clear and helpful. One question, it is possible to modify the accelerstion curve in this setup hobbywing 1080 and a HH 27t? I was thinking something arround 25% power in the first 50% throttle??
This looks like a great esc. I’ve seen a couple other guys review/use it in the last few weeks, and it looks like a great esc. When I get the TRX4 Sport Kit this is going in it right away. I think I’ll do this esc, the Traxxas Titan motor, and maybe a Savox servo. I haven’t quite decided on the servo, I want something reliable, strong, but not overly expensive. ($75 or less preferably)

Do you recommend hardwiring to a trailmaster or using a plug/connectors?
I’m buying my vs4-10 pro clear anodised today, I have to get it back ordered from AMain Hobbies, just wanted to say thanks for helping me out Francis, thinking of running the hobby wing 1080 3s but not sure what servo to run, any suggestions, brand and kilograms please. on a
@rcreview Another great review 👍😄. Thank you. For a newbie like me this is. awesome 😉
One question.... can the 1080 run a Savox 1012SG without BEC on a Trx4 ? That would be nice
Yes it can. The receiver on the Traxxas may not be able to handle 7.4volts so 6 volts is the sure bet when setting the 1080
Where is the light output? I thought you had to solder a JST plug in?
Just installed on my trx4 sport the wire barely reached but it did.
Yeah, trx3 needs long wires
Yea so I put the cheap servo you suggested the 1080 hobbywing but I wanted speed for fun I don't compete so I put the holms hobby 8 turn in it. Turned up the punch settings and stuff so much fun it still goes so slow it will load up a lil but it still creeps. I also put the overdrive gear and brass outer portal cover. Faster than my wraith spawn. It climbs dirt nasty loose hills really well.
Great review my rc brother im gonna be installing this later today whats the best brushed motor to run with this esc in your opinion?
Depends how yow want to crawl. I personally prefer a Tekin 35T, as a full drag brake will stop my 8lb rig dead on a decent incline. But I also run 3s for the 'when in doubt, power out' moments.
@@jonathanlewis82 👍🏻💯
I’m buying this baby can’t wait to run it on my ecx barrage with my redcat Everest 10 trans
Same question here. Pretty sure the mini servos can only handle 6v
What would be the product equivalent but for a brushless motor…?
Great vids and channel. Where do you plug the led lights into with the hobbywing 1080 esc?
What kind of vehicle/lights do you have?
I have one love it
did yours come with the bullet connectors for the motor because mine didnt.
Hello nice Vid ,
What is the difference between frequency 1 to 16K other than the sound?
Thx
Hello
Great video very clear and helpful.
EcoPower WP110T Cored Waterproof High Torque Metal Gear Digital Servo - 280 oz-in of torque @ 6.0V - Waterproof up to 1 meter - Digital circuitry - Metal gears - & great for 1/10 to 1/8 Scale rc rigs 2wd/4x4 - Plus 1 year manufacturer warranty. only ($39.97)
or if you want more power step up to its Bigger Brother for (69.99) The EcoPower WP120T Coreless Waterproof "High Torque" Metal Gear Digital Servo is a great choice if you are looking for an affordable, waterproof, high voltage upgrade. The WP120T makes 337 oz-in of torque and .11 transit speed at 6.0V. But when you crank the voltage up to 7.4V, the WP120T delivers 400 oz-in and .09 speed, making it an excellent option for scale crawlers, 1/10-1/8 monster trucks, 1/10 2WD and 4WD buggies, as well as 1/8 scale buggies and trucks.
(my LHS put me onto these servos) There really tough for an unbeatable price in my opinion...
Hi i bought this hobbywing quicrun wp 1080 esc but there is no beeping sound coming out from the esc on turning it ON. Doea this mean the esc is damaged ?
Hello Francis, will this esc work with the capra’s rtr stock spectrum motor?
Would this work for the Ridgerock as it is a dual MOA?
Is the default setting good for crawler? If not please tell us the best settings for crawlers.
Lol im running it on my bully 2 probably not good for the ESC to run two motors both 35T but it works 😅
On the Traxxas trx-4 will changing to 7.4 volts Bec power the small servos as well with 7.4 ? Don't want to burn those
Great video. Since I'm new on this, should I use 7.4v or 11.1v battery with this ESC? Thank you.
11.1 volts for sure!! You get 33%boost in speed and torque. And with this ESC, you will be able to modulate very smoothly.
That's all I have been running lately they're excellent nothing more to say really
First love your channel. New to crawlers and you've been an amazing help. Stupid question but is this a good upgrade for the gen 8 scout v 2. Thank you
Just ordered! Do I need external bec or is this strong enough to run my 450oz steering servo at 7.4v?
Brian Pumphrey I’m running a hv hitec 400oz servo with a hw1080. Has been working flawlessly. Haven’t stalled the servo a single time under load.
What is the best motor to pair with that? I have wplc24 crawler
Could I use this on a ftx Ravine? 😃
Though a bit more than 40 bucks here in Europe I ordered one for my, still to purchase, trx4 sport builders kit. Any advise on what engine to have the trx4 running on, price quality wise? Must be brushed right? Thanks.
I put one in my TRX4 sport and the drag brake will not hold on an incline at all. I've messed with the settings and I've tried 3 different motors. It still won't won't hold.
Can i use this on my RGT 86100?
On running mode what application what would u use 2nd option ??
Brushless motor recommendation for this esc.
Is it better than the Fusion Combo ?
What plug is on it?
