    Thank you for this!!! It’s 100% genetic in my family. Everyone on my moms side has it, I have it, my son has it. Do you recommend any type of leg lifts? I think I have a mid to severe knock knee. I currently do deadlifts and squats, but have difficulty going past 90 degrees for my squats and develop back pain easily when deadlifting. Id say I have proper form, is this something that’s common?

    I’m in my early 30s and have knock knees (looking at childhood photos I can see that I’ve had it for a while but I only noticed a few years ago). I recently ( over the last two months faced a lot of pain at my foot arch/ bottom of feet and my knees.. I out it down to to having knock knees…. Only my mum has it in the family age I’m the only one out of 8 siblings who has it. But 2 out 3 4 & 7 year olds) of my children have knock knees too. 😢

Looking forward for the response thank you :)

    Hi! I have the opposite.....I have osteoarthritis in both knees, but my legs are extremely bowed. I also have osteoporosis in my spine, and osteopenia in my hip. What gives with my legs? Than you! Lana

      Hey Lana! Sorry to hear about your osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, osteopenia and your bowed legs :-(
      There's a similar reason that the legs bow out instead of coming in as we talk about in this video. We'll be doing another video for that sometime.
      Its usually a genetic factor on top of muscle imbalances. Keep strong in the right muscles! usually the glutes are the culprit.

  • @lanamichalski3208
    @lanamichalski3208 3 года назад +2

    So are you saying that by me strengthening my glutes are making my bowed legs worse? I was trying to make my glutes stronger, and walking the way you suggested. Please advise.
    Thank you.

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 года назад

      Hey Lana Michalski!!! Glute strengthening may or may not make bowed legs worse...it's a bit complicated.
      If you've always had bowed legs, then it may be genetic and/or vitamin/mineral deficient as a child.
      For 9 out of 10 people with knee problems, glute strengthening is a GREAT thing for them to be doing to help the knee problem. In fact it may be the main thing to focus on.
      The only reason to look to stop glute strengthening in your case is if you feel worse in your knees from glute exercises and/or if you've noticed your knees are becoming more bowed.
      If you've been feeling better in your knees, then keep going!!!

    What do you when you are and both of your knees collapsed on you and you end up on the floor and needs help to get up

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 года назад +1

      Hey Karima, that's a tough situation to be in :-(
      That means that you've got either severe weakness or severe losses of motion in your legs/back or both!
      You've got to start fixing those problems so that you don't get worse. The weaker and stiffer you are, the more arthritis will progress and leave you debilitated in later years of your life. It really makes for a poor quality of life. Please get stronger and more mobile Karima!!!
