You're welcome! With textured skin, I know I really want to see how bad/good something looks when I'm out face to face with people so I figured I'd make sure and share that!
😝👻 heh! I'm working on a couple of Glamlite halloween palette looks right now and I look SO ghosty with these gorgeous dark eyes...probably won't leave the house like this but dark greens and blues are sooo pretty. Gonna try and get something out to share before Halloween just for fun. ;-)
I really appreciate these honest reviews and showing your skin up close. So many people had been raving about this and I heard blurring and thought it could be perfect for me! But if it’s showing texture on your face, it definitely will on me too! Thanks for saving me some money xx
You're welcome! A foundation review is no place to use filters or edit too much to look nice...the whole point is to see how bad or good that thing makes your skin look in real life...otherwise you do NOT need it! I don't need to spend money to have my skin look ehhhrrgh 🤣 I get that for free!
I had a similar experience with this foundation, but I was thrilled that Huda offered mini sizes on her site. I'll keep the mini & use it up, but it wasn't worth the hype for my skin type. Loved the review as always
I appreciate your reviews. There are not many women over 40 or 50 who do honest reviews. I do get frustrated with 20-year-olds suggesting that particular concealers or other makeup products will look fantastic on mature skin. I know they mean well . I feel only mature women who have worn the products or professionals in the beauty space can speculate on how they may look on another mature woman's skin. Our skin has a lot going on, even more so when you cannot afford special treatments, Botox, or fillers. Goodness, the wrinkles, age spots, loss of collagen, and the list goes on.🤯😫
Thank you! And I totally agree with you. I do think they mean well but many of them have never had troubled skin (I had cystic acne and was on Accutane in my 20's and then again last year due to sebaceous hyperplasias) so most foundations will look fine on them. Oils breaking through, flaky skin, deep wrinkles, big pores, orange peel chins, broken capillaries...all that is another story and it takes a really good product to help conceal those things!
I tried a sample of this .I didn't like it, it was too heavy and didn't blur anything. It actually created texture that i don't even have 😂. If i want heavy i use the Givenchy terra cotta foundation which i don't use often for that reason but at least it has a nice finish. And the Sisley foundation blurs more in my opinion and feels very light.
Exactly! I just pulled out my Sisley one again now that my skin is more normal less dry and I flipping love that one so much! I wish the terra cotta one was a little less peachy but it is still really pretty if you need lots of coverage. 😊
I recently heard a dermatologist say, "foundation formulas these days have become so advanced, you really shouldn't need a primer underneath". I'm also very SPF focused and I want my SPF to be sufficient as a primer for any foundation. So I dislike the idea that you have to buy a trio of products (if you count the powder) to create a decent look. There's something very 2016 about Huda's approach to makeup that feels outdated to me. But then again, the Estée Lauder double wear foundation has been on the market for decades and it provides full coverage with a very sheer, skin like application, so there is such a thing as timeless makeup products. I was heartbroken that teh Dior stick didn't work for me - I have really good normal skin that isnt' particularly textured, but OMG that foundation found every bit of texture, dryness, patchiness etc end emphasized the hell out of it. It didn't blend on me at all, it was so, so dry. Then again, Covergirl simply ageless cream foundation that is the fraction of the cost blends gorgeously on me. The original ELF flawless finish looks better than most high priced foundations. And the goddamn red TirTir cushion looks so smooth and spectacular. It's really amazing how the way our skin interacts with products is so different, even when the general description of our skin can be so similar.
I always appreciate getting other people's points of view because you are so right that each product performs differently on different skin! I'm amazed at the difference sometimes! Now that I think about it I bet I love the Dior stick because I put it over some kind of silicone based primer or sunscreen and it just glides on my skin like butter. It is never dry on me at all but I haven't put anything on bare skin in ages just due to constant moisturizing and sunscreen use as I've gotten older. I actually enjoy a good primer now and never had a use for them before when I was younger and much oilier. I'm with you on some of the drugstore options being superior as well. The L'oreal Trumatch foundation and the Covergirl Illuminance (?) ones are incredible for the price and still sit on my desk as old standby's when I'm not testing new ones.
Interesting, I ended up returning that one so I can't go try it but I do believe there are ways to use some of these products that can make them work better or worse.
Wow yes I see what you mean about the huda one 👀 This is the best review I have seen on this 🙏 Thank you for sharing! I wonder, have you tried the haus labs foundation? I’m so curious about what you think about it and how it looks on you ☺️🙏
Thanks! So I tried the Haus Labs one when it first came out and I had ultra oily skin and had to return it because it was no good with my super oily skin. I know people LOVE it and my skin is more normal so I have been wondering if I should try it again. 🤔
I use several different ones that I like depending on if I'm dry or oily that day. Lately I've been using the Ulta Soft Blur Face primer for dry/normal but need smoothing days and when I'm feeling dry I'm still loving the What's Up Beauty Positivity lightweight hydrating face primer. The Ulta one is mostly what I've been using though for a good silicone finish type primer. 😊
I'm still waiting to get my hands on her new palette tomorrow but yeah, I haven't really liked any of her primers, foundations, concealers or powders yet. I know they are other people's holy grails but they are all just too heavy on me across the board.
I am post menopause. It's been a wacky few years. Hormones are wild. I have a lot more dryer skin. I sometimes use rose water on my face. Makes a difference in a good way. This time of year I get the ocassional acne. I love ELF coverup.
@@FurandFeathers71 Did things get better for you over all after menopause? I'm looking for scraps of hope as I continue to struggle with endometriosis even after surgery and am having a terrible time with peri and probably have awhile to go...
I'm 53 with normal skin and I cannot get this foundation to last past 6 hours. It settles into smile lines, cakes up and separated. I tried it 4 different days and it's just a no go for me.
The disparity between my experience with Huda Blur foundation and the sea of positive reviews from women in their 40s and beyond has left me pondering the complexities of individual skin types and beauty standards 🤔 This foundation has been one of the most disappointing experiences I've had; it's definitely among the worst I've tried 🙄 I'm 46 with normal skin 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for sharing because I thought maybe I was insane since I swear everyone seems to love this one and the first time I used it I was like ewww no. It wasn't until I used a sponge with it that I finally liked it for at least a few hours (ie. put it on so thinned out that you basically don't have too much of it on your face...what's the point then!). If I'm being honest though, I think all the positive reviews have been younger/oilier types and also all of them were received in PR. 😏
Love that you are showing your skin in all the different lighting. Thank you!

@redgirlreviews Yes the lightest shade is a cooked salmon color😭🤣( like Nars foundations), i mostly use the second shade which is a better color.

I love the blur jam jar primer , but I had to push it into my skin with my fingertips . Rubbing , using brush, etc, did not work .

What Primer did you use under the Dior Stick Foundation?
Did you find anything while you were in Marshalls?
Sent with tons of love.

Also, I did find one cute fluffy jacket at Marshalls in the prettiest seafoam green/blue!
Could you please tell me which foundation/tint is your favourite currently?
The Dior stick foundation I talk about at the end of the video is definitely my current favorite!
