Kristy!! You are always asking for feedback and here is mine, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this video and am dying for you to create more videos exactly like this one! Your teaching style is exactly perfect for a beginner like me, and I’m not sure how many other so-called “tutorials” you browse on RUclips but I’m here to tell you that more often than not, all you will find is the artist using the video to showcase his or her own talent in a hyper speed “short” video, or broken down in a way that shows the sketch or painting already completed and the artist mentioning a slight blurb as to how they got there….alot of them end up being what seem to be “teasers” for what you CAN learn to do IF YOU PURCHASE THIER BOOKS! those are NOT tutorials and it’s super frustrating as a beginner to spend SO much time watching video after video and feeling as though I am learning NOTHING! So thank you for breaking the steps down how you do, and especially in this video, how you go back a few times and break down the steps even further… your videos are what tutorials SHOULD look like, and I will be referring my other artist friends to YOUR platforms! ❤️
I appreciate this so much :) I do browse around RUclips from time to time lol and I seeee :) I will be focusing a lot more on beginner content again in 2025 so stick around!
I always thought you had to have talent to draw..ALWAYS! About 6 years ago i realized that i had been misinformed from kindergarten!! Now one in my education had ever taught us how to use or find creativity. We had art...but everyone knows elementary art class is a joke. I TAUGHT MYSELF WITH RUclips AND IVE NEVER BEEN MORE FULFILLED!! please listen to kristy...shes a brilliant And loose teacher that knows how to have fun!
My kids always assumed I could draw. I assumed I could not and had no idea why they assumed I could. They were correct. Lol. My youngest demanded I draw and paint a dinosaur on her high top purple Converse. It turned out she was correct. It turned out great! I was shocked. She said “you’re weird Mommy. I don’t why you say that.” She’s 28 now. She still thinks I can draw. I still question it.
Wow! You were right, Kristy! It was indeed the most important video I have watched in a long time! I love color, and I love flowers and art. But I am just beyond awful. So I collect paint and brushes and paper, but put off using them, because I fear another dismal art session. I have never thought of it as just play time with no outcome. That is a great attitude to take on!
Kristy, I have always been terrified of sketching being told as a kid I can’t draw! Brought me down to I think I can do this! Will be starting on these flowers tomorrow and looking forward to it. I’d love to see them put together in a composition. Will be fun to see how far apart I’ll be! Love you girl, keep on painting :)
I LOVE this. This might be more "my style" of draw/sketch/paint. Yes, a composition would be great! Your attitude and joy of painting is infectious. THANK YOU.
Yes! I'd love to see a video showing your composition with these flowers!! Kristy, you're a hoot! I laugh my way through all of your videos. I'm so glad I found you!!
When I think some happy painting would be really good - you are always the one. Your tutorials are so beautiful, very good to follow! I am glad, you are there!
thank you kristy for my pallette and brush you sent that i won ,oh my im exited to paint with them ,im in love with watercolor,i love my acrylics too .ive been creating art for 27 years now ,i started at 36 and now im 63 ,i love learning from you
I’m coming around fast to not caring about pencil showing on a watercolour painting. It used to really bug me for some silly reason, but now I’m loving it 🙂💖
Yes! Please, a video of a composition. This was fun and so freeing! My prior experience has been very realistic and I love the relaxed style you embrace!
I am so incredibly happy I found you a few months ago! Your teaching style is wonderful, so easy to follow. After watching this I feel “re-empowered”! Your joy is infectious! Thank you for being you! 🥰
I totally agree!! Your enthusiasm is contagious!! (I'm a year late for this video, but STILL ENJOY every moment of it). Luckily it is still available on your channel!!! Thank you Kirsty!!!
I tell you what...you have given me inspiration where I have all but giving up hope on my dream of creating. I've been uninspired for the last few years, and you've helped spark new joy in painting. Thank you,,,thank you soon much ❤️
This is the first time an artist teacher described the basics of these flower shapes that really made sense. Thanks so much for making a daunting subject clear in my mind.
Through my introduction to watercolor, I have found satisfaction in sketching. You have offered a technique that gives me more control through the pencil with the freedom in the watercolor. A combination I can't wait to use.
Love you, your channel, and your videos. You give art its personality. I am sorry. I have no idea what you mean by "making comic smiles", but you Peony/Rose looks so amazing. Please give another way of expressing the shape. So, so beautiful. Jazza often talks about line weight, but does not explain when, where, or why to use line weight. However, as I just mentioned, you give everything from watercolours to lines personalities. I absolutely love it because I never saw this no matter who else told me. I only am starting to see it with you. Thank you ❤. You are 100 percent correct wedding magazines are great for florals and composition. Thank you for pointing this out. "Love" only approximately twice or three times since you asked 😊.
Gorgeous! I’m going to be more brave with the pencil. The replay on this video is going to be my best friend for sure! Thank you for this tutorial. Tear drops. Smiles. Love your way of making it all achievable.
Another comment. I really appreciate the way you break the flowers and leaves down by shape. Makes it so much easier to understand. As a beginner, these tips are so helpful.
Sketching out that hydrangea was FUN! Never thought I'd be able to create something even close to resembling an actual hydrangea..... but here I am, killing it! Lol!! Your instruction style is exactly what I have been hoping to find, whether I initially knew it or not. You make the process so easy to understand that it actually feels achievable - even for a newbie like me. I absolutely LOVE flowers, and until now, I never thought I'd have success recreating them on paper with my own two hands. This video changed my mind. Thank you!
YEST PLEASE on the video with a bouquet made up of these flowers. I absolutely love your style and the way you teach resonates with me. I can't draw stick people, but after this video I may be able to draw flowers! Thank you, Kristi, you're the bomb.
I just stumbled across your channel, and I love your genuine enthusiasm and your very effective way of teaching. I really enjoyed this video, and I'm looking forward to going back and watching more!
Omg! I just discovered you today on RUclips and I absolutely love your style of teaching, stress free, just having fun, and the steps to draw the flowers, awesome! You got a new subscriber 👏🙌
I'm very leery of trying to draw but I will try. I'd like to see you paint a composition with these flowers! Can't wait for the big paint reveal tomorrow! 😊🥳🎨
There is a part two coming for this vid where I will be painting a composition with these blooms! Yay! That was my plan all along XO. Spend some extra time with the super rough/simple broken down shapes at the beginning of each section of this video. Practice loosening up your arm and drawing less with your wrist. Game changer for sure :)
Oh My Gosh!!! This is so helpful! I've been painting a lot of detailed botanicals but I want to get looser. This is beautiful and totally improved my drawing skills!
Love this!! I’ve always been terrible at drawing so I’ve always spent hours griding, drawing, erasing, drawing, hating, drawing, erasing, etc. I need to watch this again while following along with you. But hopefully it will help! Thank you!
I know that feeling....that repetitive frustration that happens, so annoying! Here's my suggestion. Your next sketching session, draw super light and hide that eraser!
This was a terrific collection of floral sketches that's about to decorate one of my sketchbook pages. Hopefully you'll get a kick out of the fact that I couldn't help but think of the "Feed me, Seymour" scene in "Little Shop of Horrors" when you put the cracks in the flower buds. I'm forever going to think of that when I see flower buds that are slightly cracked open.
Hi Kristy, have you ever looked at a professional floral design magazine? I used to do floral designing and I loved my floral design magazines with cover to cover floral pictures. Now, it has been many years since I was in the industry, but I still kept all the my magazines because the photography was phenomenal! Not only do you get beautiful photography of flowers close up but spectacular floral designs as well.🌺🌹🌷🌸💮
@@KristyRice The two that I subscribed to in the 1980's to 1990's were 'Professional Floral Designer' and 'Flowers &'. Unfortunately, I believe that both magazines not in business now. The first magazine had more pictures and the second magazine had less pictures but more techniques on floral arrangements. I would call some of your floral shops in larger cities and ask the florist if they recommend any floral design magazines with emphasis on photographs. 🌺🌸🌼
Totally just found u as I broke out my new 48 pan watercolor I got no not the most expensive but was excited to get back into my painting I’m now binge watching u with my whale watercolor set lol
