Don't know how George Cleverley manages to make the edge of the sole so close to the upper, but it makes a big difference in the finished product. Good video. Previous comment on y'all skipping the good bits is true; don't worry on how long it is... we'll watch it!! 👍👍
Well the sacrificial welt helps! You should see the welt on a pair of Gaziano & Girling. A re stitch is almost impossible. Bear in mind though, this pair of cleverleys is nothing more than a Crockett & Jones handgrade with a different label on it. These are a 337 lasted shoe made to handgrade standards. Not that that’s a bad thing, but always wise to separate cleverley bespoke from their ready made lines, which are all Crockett these days (used to be some Alfred Sargents back in the day). I have maybe 10 pairs of these cleverly ranges and they are pretty much pound for pound the same as their handgrade counterparts, albeit GC occasionally do more adventurous styles that Crockett don’t!
I think I have 40 pairs of gorgeous Magnanni shoes, in various styles, and if I own a pair in black, trust that I have it in brown as well. That being said, you do such gorgeous art, that's literally what you do. I'm sure the owner will love having their shoes back with that beautiful upgrade!!
I work every other weekend and your video uploads correspond to my "on" weekend ( more often than not). Gives me something to look forward to when my shift is over!
When I was 12-13 we lived right behind an RC Cola bottling plant, I loved the smell of the cork which was put in the bottle cap, and also how good the aroma of the soda with that cork smelled it was such a fresh aroma, sort of like being caught in a rain storm. The CocaCola bottling plant was across the street and a few doors down but didn’t ever smell anything from their plant.
Haven’t seen one of your videos in a while even though I am subscribed to the channel and have been so for a number of years. Glad to see my first trip down memory lane was with a shoe from the UK. Even if I am really from Scotland. 🏴
Just learned something new today...I had no idea you had to wait several hours for the cork to dry. I can see now why you use it so sparingly. It slows down the repair process. Well, I'm sure I speak for everyone who looks forward to when that iron comes out that we appreciate when you do bless us with our hot cork fix!! Thank you! 🙂
Very nice! I’m usually a fan of your work boot videos, but this was very interesting. Good close up camera work and I was surprised to see you split that leather on the sole, so you could hide the stitching, that looked tricky to do! 👍🏻
Very nice work on these shoes. Attention to detail always seems to add the proper accent to shoes and boots. I've seen and admired that style of shoe but never owned any. Brits definitely figured more was better with the nails. Had a flashback to restoring the 6 oak dining room chairs with new backrest and seat upholstery with my wife. Whomever built them believed more was better with staples and nails....
Watching from Texas this morning. Another great Saturday morning video. That should count as a workout as you were working pretty hard. What did you use on the uppers? Looked like a white pumice stone or something? Got my second box of Anson belts. Now have 3 formal and 3 casual. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for watching! We used a suede eraser. One of our favs for general cleaning of suede. It works magic. Glad you’re enjoying the Ansons! They’re great belts. Check out our shirts/sandals when you’re in the market. 😉
hey guys, i just watched the shop tour video from a while back. I'm trying to set up a home-based lab without a finishing machine, and stitch by hand. Do you know if there are leathercrafting burnishing machines, or some other solution, with enough modular attachments - breaster, horsehair buffer, sanding, etc, available to run necessary functions? Or do you really just, you know, NEED to have that finishing machine? Trying to find a solution small enough for home based use where I can get in hands-on experience at my own pace and on my own time. Thanks guys, love the videos.
*9:27** - **9:45** I actually would have loved to have seen you all dye the leather, put the toe taps on, and put the leather heel stack on. Those are all very interesting to see 😊! Otherwise I did still enjoy the video! It was great to see another suede shoe repair! I love your videos, with seeing all kinds of shoes and boots! It would be great to see more suede shoes and boots on your channel! I do own suede boots at home. I know you all have suede cleaning videos. I just want to see you guys repair some suede shoes and boots to add more variety to your channel. Great video guys, I loved it! Keep up the good work!*
Where do you obtain that leather welting strip on a roll like that? Been looking for a good type, as well as source, of welt strips and those look like a nice quality.
I’m missing my left foot due to an accident. I would like to know if I can buy a pair of right foot FlipFlops or just a right one. I know it’s an unusual request but I can’t walk correctly wearing a FlipFlop on my prostheses but around the house I don’t like to put a shoe on. Just wondering? Watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸
I'm jealous. I don't have the strength in my hands. Or the tools but I do a lot of caring of my shoes. My person die stuff. People have lost the art of doing any of this and it's so cool to watch the state sales and Resale shops and buy shoe, die, shoe guo. And other things that help me repair little things on my shoes. I also three Fix purses another things that need little things but I would love to do what you do. And it's so hard to find that stuff and if you buy it retail. It's very expensive but I have a little process. I use on purses if fair brown or really scraped up. I die them black. And then I use Ah old time waxes. And I wax them and bring up the shine and then I put on armorall And I give Em away as presents of my daughter. Got mugged wearing the purse. I. Redid that I bought 3 dollars. The the hardware was so good that they dragged her and she weighs 200 pounds like me. We're kind of heavy people. And the dragged her with this purse and the hard never broke They never got away with her purse. 'cause they kept dragging her and dragon her and she hung on and hung on. She got scraped up. They did get her phone . So the old stuff is made so much better. And if you can repair it . I bought a old Louis Vuitton purse right now. I'm trying to redo to sell cause. I, I don't use fancy Dancy stuff. I like the old old stuff, but it's got rivets in that I need to take out and rerivet it. And I've read and done research. And it doesn't seem like you can do that. Cause the ribbits are stamped. Louis Vuitton and you gotta use the same rivets. But it's fun to try to figure out how to do stuff and it's exciting when you take something that looks like people would throw it away. And then it looks like new and people are like. Did you do that? I'm like, yeah. I do a jewelry and shoes and purses. I take old sweaters, old wool sweaters. And I depel them and then I sow up any problems they have and they look like new. I get a $300 sweater for a dollar and fix it up. And I wear them for years. Thanks for your show. Sorry, this was long. When did it just old person that likes the talk
Not that I am against finding “good finds” at Goodwill, but there are some really nice online secondhand shoe sales. How to know if it’s a shoe worth buying to send to you for resoling?
We’d love your support of our family-owned, made in USA sandals! Save 15% on your purchase by using code: SANDALS15 at www.southernpolished.com/
The suede recovered better than I expected. Always cool to watch. Consider using more family background stories.
Good fortunes to your families. 🙏🏽✌🏽
Looks really sharp with the new soles but the deep cleaning of the suede is what impresses me. Great Work all the way around!
It always amazes me how you get that leather smoothed back down after blind stitching a sole. Bravo.👏
Fantastic craftmanship! The restored oxfords look beautiful!
I so look forward to watching you guys do shoes!! Thanks!!
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching.
Watching from Lincolnton NC. Thanks again!!!!!
Thanks so much for watching!
Hey, my wife's from Lincolnton!
The suede really came back to life. Beautiful
OMG I have NEVER owned shoes made for me, you guys are so far above my existence, love what you do.
Beautifully done 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
I am anxiously waiting for the debut of your women’s shop. Thanks guys for thinking of us ladies.
Love that big swig o' coffee with the sigh at the end! 🤣👍🏻

You should have video compilation of just iron and the cork I could watch it all day and call it the corkening!
Mr you got them Shoes looking like a work of art. Good video and God bless you and your family.
Those shoes look great!
Thank you!
so satisfying to watch how you corked the shoes.

By all means, I like seeing everything on these videos. Thank you for the content.
8:23 My favorite sound in all your videos
You guys are amazing craftsmen/footwear artisans !
Just Beautiful! Hands of Gold!
Thank you

Do you sell suede erasers?
Awesome work
Exelente job as always..!
Nice looking shoes. Great job
Might watch this one again, just to listen to all the great Sounds. 😊
Beautiful.
Satisfyingly wonderful spread of cork.
Nice work as usual
Wow, great job, Heath!!!
Thank you!
Dear Heath,
what a great work done !
Best Regards from the other side of the pod.
Harald
Those turned out nice! Well done! Be Safe
Heath you definitely did a awesome job on the shoes. Really like the finished product. Have a great weekend. Thanks for all the hard work sir.
Thank you! As always, we appreciate you watching. Have a great weekend as well.
As always real nice work .
It's all about stepping out in style! Nice recovery. 💯🗽🇺🇸
I truly didn't think that suede could be freshened so beautifully. I may have to get myself a pair of suede boots.
Looks as good as new,,,,,,,,, good work 🤠 btim sw pa
Thank you!
Really nice!
This guy's accent! Love it.
Stunning
I'm watching from Radomsko, Poland. Beautiful work, as usual.
Thank you for watching. 🇵🇱
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate you watching.
Those came out phenomenal
Thank you!
We missed you guys last week! Who's the GOOD dog cruising in the background? Beautiful pair of shoes and freshened up very nicely.
Thank you! She’s Heath’s dog. Her name is Annie.
Damn good job !!
Lovely job, as usual. They don't half look constructed very much like Crockett & Jones. I think I read they did the making for GC at one time.
Awesome video again! But where did your pinky protector go for the welting?
Fantastic as usual, hows about crossed shoes logo for the shirts or a shoe being cobbled? Juhaptergee
Looks like a good result… I’d send my cleverleys to you guys :)
Great job! But why would you shine the soles?
STUNNING! I want to send you my English leather shoes which are suffering in this Texas heat as the leather layers are splitting on the soles
Great job! How many hours does a job like that take, not including waiting for the cork or glue to dry?
How beautiful it is

Where can I get that cork stuff you use. I've tried several places without success. Like your vids.
The suede of the uppers looked like it was finished and needed to be replaced 😊
would be so cool to see a pair of shoes from archibald london here or yohei fakuda!
Im curious, why watering the leather outsole before stitch it?
*9:27** - **9:45** I actually would have loved to have seen you all dye the leather, put the toe taps on, and put the leather heel stack on. Those are all very interesting to see 😊! Hey, has anyone seen a list or video of the glue products the guys use? Glues, solvents, etc?
Where do you obtain that leather welting strip on a roll like that? Been looking for a good type, as well as source, of welt strips and those look like a nice quality.
What kind of resin has the hot cork?
I would be interested in seeing how you maintenance your tool/ machines.
(Sharpen blades, hand tools, hydraulic presses, etc...)
wish i was young always had an intress in doing shoe repair
What did cobblers do before they could buy cork filler paste?
What was being used on the rough out at the end?
A suede eraser and brush
Just curious, is the corking a smelly job??
Haha…yes, but not in a good way. It smells like burnt glue.
I’m missing my left foot due to an accident. I would like to know if I can buy a pair of right foot FlipFlops or just a right one. good video , thanks
Beautiful
How do I get vaseline off of brown suede shoes??? I've put shoe soap, degreaser, dawn, and abrasive brushes.

I would have used Saphir Omnidaim on the uppers and then Renovateur spray followed by Superinvulner. Remember to clean and protect your suede !
Does the wax on the souls make them slippery?
What is one hell of a well-constructed shoe
Whats the purpose of a toe tap?? Is it protecting the sole or something?
Why do you put nails in the heals. Do you cut them off on the inside? I’ve never seen you do that.
I love cork with my coffee!!
Can you fix hardly worn printed men’s shoes with a barely there bevel?
Newbie question - what's the liquid used on the sole @ 0:48? TIA!
Fantastic job, Trenton and Heath! Watching from Shiloh, IL.
Is Southern Polished Boutique website ready? 😬
Hi! It’s been up and running for a few months now. 😉 southernpolishedboutique.com
Those shoes are made very well. It’s obvious by watching you take them apart.
They’re a great brand!
Nice!!
Not that I am against finding “good finds” at Goodwill, but there are some really nice online secondhand shoe sales. How to know if it’s a shoe worth buying to send to you for resoling?
