I rebuilt shoes as my life’s work. Had to close my shop due to lung cancer. I loved taking a shoe from trash to treasure. I have watched other you tube vids of repair work and cringed. You and I restore shoes, not just fix. I love the weave of that shoe but I have seen lots do what those did. You took care of it the same way I would have. But I never in my wildest dreams got the money you get. What you do is worth it! I am very glad you get what you are worth.

Take a bow, Steve. Those were a MESS. I (for one) would've really enjoyed seeing more of how you worked around the torn heel leather, and the reweaving/repair/re-welting to make a miserable looking mess become looking like new once again. I'm a big fan of that technical how-to aspect of it. Nice craftsmanship.
I was expecting this job to cost a bit more, that was some intricate work with the weave and that tear. First class job as always and worth every cent..
The before and after always amazes me. Like an old teacher used to tell me: "You are like a farmer.... Out-standing in your field..." Excellent work sir. 👍
I thoroughly enjoyed this restoration and what a turnaround! Love it. I want a pair! I bought a pair of well-worn Allen Edmonds Ashton 1628 Split Toe shoes from the USA which need new soles, and Allen Edmonds informed me surprisingly that they 'couldn't' send replacements to the UK. Nuts...
You know, this is kind of weird how interesting this is. I have zero interest in dress shoes, and didn't find those shoes attractive at all, but the process and craft is fascinating. They looked great finished. A shoe truly worth wearing.
*Wow that's incredible that you meticulously fixed the weaving! You even reinforced the areas! The shoes are extremely professionally done! I'm sure the customer was very happy!*

When my mom was a teenager in the early 40's, she worked in a shoe factory summers between school years. Before that, she worked in a cannery (she jumped when she had to the chance to make the switch). When she starting working in the shoe factory, she already had some skills from helping my grandfather repair her brother's and her father's work boots. When we cleaned out the farm house where she grew up, we found the cast iron shoe form he used as well as the awls, knives, needles, and a bunch of old leathers, spools of threads, etc. Mom just stood there and stared at it all shaking her head, and said, "Oh yeah. I can remember it like yesterday." Ironically, she couldn't afford to buy a pair of the shoes she was making in the factory.
Who so ever repaired these shoes before they arrived with you for proper renovation ought not to consider themselves fit it do the job! You did an amazing job as always. The owner of the shoes can now get many more years of enjoyment. Bravo Steve.
You're transparency with your work process really is beyond amazing. Keep up the great work, and hopefully if I ever need a repair I'll be coming too you!

Thank you for taking the time to record, edit and upload your work to the internet for everyone. Can't wait to see your next project.
My goodness, watching your videos reminds me so much of watching my father repairing things when I was a child. Not leather goods, just various day to day “things”. I feel like I’m back in his basement workshop hanging out as he shows me how to stain wood.
I love how you get frustrated when you see a bad job from another coblor 😂😂😂. Great video as always Steve. Artisan works should never die absolutely beautiful
Sir, you are a true artist and craftsman. Thank you for broadening my knowledge. I did not know shoe repair could capture my interest this much. Like you say do you ever get a tune stuck in your head? lets continue is stuck in mine. Please continue. Thanks.
I will be the first to admit this was a hard video to watch, not because of worries that Steve wasn’t going to make magic, which he absolutely did, but I was waiting for something crazy to happen with the weave or the tear or something. But, once again, Steve did another miraculous job. Amazing!
Fantastic transformation! "I'll figure it out once I take it apart," It amazes me to see how you "figure it out." Great work as always. Love the videos, and Hammer Time.
Steve, this is one of your best jobs. It never ceases to amaze me how you take in a complete train wreck and turn it into a beautiful work of art. I believe I subscribed in the 20k range if memory serves. Now your crowding 90k. I’m proud to one. Thank you!
Wow Steve amazing job. To be honest I think one of my favorite shoe repairs because of the design and style. I would enjoy a pair like that. I kinda wish I had happened across you earlier because I got a pair of shoes from my mum after my dad's passing he had worn them only a few times and they had previously been my grandfather's very comfortable but the souls were just all man made crap but the uppers were beautiful leather I wore them when ever i could i never wore them in the wintery weather. Then I pulled them out again to wear after the winter and put them on to go out with my wife and took a few steps and the souls just came right off the uppers they had just deteriorated. I had no idea they could have been rescued by you. Being a leather worker I took them apart and salvaged all the leather to make me a wallet or money clip (so all is not lost) but I have yet to decide upon a design.
Years ago I used to work in a shoe repair shop. I have seen some sad repair jobs. Now at 56 yrs old. I have some sewing machines and various other leather working tools. It is your usual time honored work I have grown to love watching these last few days. It is a beautiful craft of art. By taking an old shoe and returning it to it's original glory, is an acompishment you can certainly be proud of. Thank you for showing us your fine work.
Don't know why, but your video reminded me of someone doing surgery. Not everybody can do surgery, but we all have an opinion of how much better we could do it. You remind me of how much I don't know. Hammertime!

Watching you inspired me to take an old Coach bag, save the zipper and rivets and make a custom face mask (2) out of it. I sewed the leather parts by hand from watching your video. Labor of love for sure.
Love your videos. I think it would be pretty cool to see the customer’s reactions when they see how good their shoes come out. Especially these ones that needed a dramatic repair. Just an idea.

I agree, I'm a little disappointed we didn't get to see the heel restored.
It looks like he did the same as with the side - black nylon fabric behind to reinforce and to put new stitches in it.
