thanks for the video, i had this issue after replacing an air 2 screen assembly. problem seemed to remain even with the original screen (cracked but still working..) strange
had a quick look at the 4 pads that had been soldered on my replacement, 1 pad had never actually been soldered, poor quality of workmanship from that manufacturer (won't use again)
i actually ended up desoldering the new sensor and just soldering it down again properly, all working now.
great guide though, thanks for your time.

Just so you guys know, there are two smart cover sensors on these iPad Air's and Mini's.
One near the home button and one near the screen connectors on the logic board.

If you don’t have problems with the logic board and just do a screen replacement, do I need to work on the other plate?

So if I don’t do the soldering part what’s the main problem I’m going to have? I really don’t use any cases

Is it in the same place on the iPad Pro 9.7? I have a genuine screen from an iPad Pro and have literally just swapped the logic board out for a working one but have this issue. I can’t find anything online referencing the Pro 1st gen sensor though.

Is it true that the defective environment sensor can leave the ipad restarting, sometimes, even the function disabled?
    thanks for the video.

How can I test to see if this soldering work was successful??? I do not have an iPad Air 2 case to test it with. I have tried rubbing various magnets around the edges to no avail. Please advise!

What would happen if this part is not transferred to the replacement LCD/Touchscreen assembly? Any other usage besides the sleep/wake function?

I know this is a very late answer but, the smart cover magnets would not function properly with the iPad causing the iPad to lock itself when the smart cover is wrapped behind the iPad.
