There's so much more in this game than what is shown in the video. I wanted to remain spoiler free but the story goes really deep - so please go check it out! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this review. After i watched it i had to get the game. Boy, am i in for a treat after only a few hours. Great game. Perfect for the switch.
I looooved this game. Honestly, its worth a play through for Sam's personality alone - she's so cute and bubbly and the dynamic of her and Jon had me smiling through the whole game. Pacing could definitely use some work, but the charm of every character really did make those longer dialogue sequences much more enjoyable. The last hour of the game was WILD and I'm glad more people are picking this up as I feel like the ending can be interpreted in many different ways. After I finished it, (and took a minute to compose myself lol) I spent about an hour on reddit just reading through what people thought about the whole story. Solid review
Totally agree, Sam is super funny! I haven’t gotten into reading stuff on reddit yet but that’s one of my plans. I tend to do that for the more complicated endings that go over my head - this game had that element of.. what was that? What’s this mean? The game doesn’t explain everything 100% but I look forward to filling in the gaps there. Thanks so much for watching!
Great review! I was on the fence about Eastward, but you convinced me to buy it. I also like that it seems relatively easy...I don't mind a challenge within a game, but it's just really nice to play through a game and experience a story without many hiccups along the way.
It is pretty easy, the late game puzzles were a bit frustrating but were managed within a few tries! Even the final boss is pretty easy. The game does a great job at getting you prepared for more enemies and more difficult enemies! But overall it’s a really fun adventure!
You did such a good job on this review and still didn’t spoil it for us! This game looks just like the type I’d love to play handheld while in bed; and even when I was tempted to buy it since it was announced I was waiting on your review before actually doing it, you definitely delivered, can’t wait to play it!
I definitely spent most of my time playing this in bed on my OLED switch with my satisfye grip! Couldn't recommend that more actually. It's a really good handheld game!
My recommendation with this game is simple: do you want to feel the same way when you played that special GBA or DS game from your childhood? play eastward
I felt the same way as you did 10-15 hours in. Now that I know how it plays out, I wonder if the second time through will be more satisfying? I may even spend more time with Earthborn because I won't be in a rush to reveal the main plot points. The music and graphics are absolutely amazing and it's fun to play. The story and locales stick with me...
I love the way this game looks, I have the game, and hope to get around to it one day cause it looks up my alley. Thanks for the spoiler free video! (:
I really enjoyed what I had played of it, but I had a similar issue of a crash at a really badly timed point. I was playing during the launch time and my crash kept happening so I was stuck. I should try it again sometime though cause I still need to know what the heck was going on.
Hey thanks Adam! This would be a great stream game for sure - maybe I will put it in the rotation soon. Thanks for watching!!! Now I suddenly want coffee..☕
Eastward is a game I wanted to adore but had to settle for just loving. Considering it's an indie title it's an absolutely staggering effort with just a few little niggles in terms of pacing and writing. I do like how the mysteries aren't spelled out - recent media feels like it's bonking you on the head with its lore - and I feel like the combat is a step above any 2D Zelda out there, which makes its bosses (especially the final one) more of an engaging spectacle than any 2D Zelda boss. All that needs to be said about the pixel artwork is that SNK should commission Pixpil to work on a new Metal Slug. For all its animated expressiveness though, I wish John had gotten a chance to be a bit more expressive, though. I dig that John being silent is acknowledged as a diagetic part of the story, but wish he'd been allowed to show a touch more character; reciprocating a hug from Sam, a bespoke animation for the intense chase sequences, or even a toothy smile now and then.
Every. Single. Word. Of. This appealed to me... Just bought. Regarding music, yes, less can be more. BOTW is a masterwork of this. This, combined with the retro feel of this... Thank you for the review. Made me buy.
Great review! I have been curious about this game and as a fan of the snes earthbound and early action rpg's I am very intrigued by Eastward. I just discovered your channel and like the laid back style of reviewing, you just earned a subscriber ✌
Hey thank you so much! I definitely think if you like those style of games, Eastward will be something you enjoy. I loved the game! Thanks for stopping by & have a great day 😃
"Gives off indie game vibes, but that couldn't be further from the truth." Do people not realize that there are MANY incredible indie games available? Indie doesn't mean bad.
i disagree with the conclusion u have made maybe these diffculties are coming because of some files which u have missed, please check ur game file again
It has a lot of style going for it and some nice touches, ultimately after 2-3 hours of it me and my 9 year old son called time on the copy we got from our library. Just wished they reworked the script, there is an endless amount of talking with bad pacing between the gameplay portions. Obviously there is the whole game for that to even out, but ramping to fastest dialogue speed and just skimming 45 mins to our playtime conclusion it still drags. The zelda type gameplay and cooking etc is credible if very easy and no risk even for my son. I think people looking for a cross between a visual novel and a light version of zelda would really like this with the presentation being it’s strongest hook. The price is also pretty fair for the category. Thanks for outlining your experiences and views. I might check it out again on my own down the line for ps5 when it eventually releases there, but for my son who is a strong reader (would need funnier dialogue on this for him) and breath of the wild being his favourite game it is regrettably a pass. Definitely a game i have seen some streamers play as a “chill” game. Ill be interested to see their next game though either way.

I now want to play this, I hadn't decided yet and this makes it more interesting for me now. Thanks for the great review!
Same!
I think you’ll like the charm of the characters! It’s an easy world to get lost in even in a pickup and play fashion.

man you're really selling me to check this one out! not sure when I'll get around to it, but it's on my list now!
I think you’d really enjoy it actually! Thanks for watching :)

Great review! Picking up today! Thanks Erek!
Good stuff!!!! Thanks for watching and enjoy the game!
Great review, definitely gunna play thru the whole game now to see this ending.
100% worth it!
I love the way this game looks, I have the game, and hope to get around to it one day cause it looks up my alley. Thanks for the spoiler free video! (:
Gotta keep it spoiler free for sure! The game is pretty dark though, and it’s really funny and charming too. I hope you get a chance to play sometime!
Just got it on Xbox Gamepass and I 🎉am hooked. Realize today they are coming up with a DLC.
Yes!! Great timing!!
Definitely gonna buy this. Your video just confirmed my choice. Cheers
Much appreciated! Hope you enjoy the game!
Fantastic review man. I really enjoyed this and cant wait to get my hands on this game. It looks soooooo good!
I hope your copy shows up in the mail soon!
This seems like such qwerky game. Fair play yours is the first review I've seen on it.
Would definitely be down for checking it out
I think you’d enjoy it! Definitely has that retro flare!
Loved the video may pick up the game
Thanks! Definitely recommend you do!
Something about the modernized SNES art style that never tires for me. That being said, I still plan to get this game when I have extra time.
Definitely goes to show the SNES look is timeless! I’ll always love that particular look. Thanks for watching!
Amazing review bro! keep it up. you got me to sub, nice quality content! 👌👌💯
Thank you!!
Today I've ordered a retail copy for my Switch and I'm so exciting of this game. ^^
I really enjoyed what I had played of it, but I had a similar issue of a crash at a really badly timed point. I was playing during the launch time and my crash kept happening so I was stuck. I should try it again sometime though cause I still need to know what the heck was going on.
Give it another shot! I was kind of disappointed that a game would crash though. Never had that happen!
This looks extremely fun. Looks like the kind of game I would love to watch you stream with a warm cup of coffee! Great review Erek!
Hey thanks Adam! This would be a great stream game for sure - maybe I will put it in the rotation soon. Thanks for watching!!! Now I suddenly want coffee..☕
This game looks absolutely beautiful
Absolutely! Really gorgeous game.

Appreciate that!! Thanks so much for watching. Hope you dig the game!
I just received my copy like 2 days ago and Ive yet to play it. Was worried that it would be a long game but under 30h is completely fine.
I am about 1/2 though the game. Been hard playing game with the little one around. I really want to finish it.
Tell me about it! I could only squeeze in maybe an hour each night roughly. Keep at it!
This part (6:40) remind me of Mother 3. I will definitely play this game.

Very good video 👍🏼
I did really like this game overall, only issue is the story took such a strange turn and left some holes, but again I had a lot of fun with it
Eastward has a solid copy? I thought it hadn't launched yet
Yep! You can grab it from play asia!
Just got my physical copy ....heck ya
Utter beast. Want this game now. Also I do enjoy frying pans
I can imagine you carrying a frying pan for emergency purposes.
Also yeah, I'm wanting this game now too. Erek loves draining our wallets
It just feels right hitting enemies with a pan..
I don't like Earthbound / Monther -
But I loved this game.
this game is amazing i already finished it few days ago on pc ( steam ) + i love it 😍🎮👍
This very underrated game

Don't get me wrong, I love PlayStation but since I'm constantly on the go I know i can rely on Nintendo to me get through the day.

heard its way way too story / talk heavy, like 10% adventuring, 10% exploring, rest is just talking/story.

Every reviewer use the "zelda clone" argument... brains are reaching their limits!
Beautiful game spoiled by its script. The dialog are a torture - they could have killed 70% of them and keep the game and story more fluid
Just finished this game. Goodness me I need a sequel. What a fantastic ride.
If you like this, u might like Styroke64 for the c64, review follows ruclips.net/video/ykvmQdio8EQ/видео.html
Awesome I’ll check it out!
