Gotta have serious RESPECT for a developer who does this - £5 for 20 hours of gaming that’s better than 90% of the same genre? Yes please! Please do let the devs know how you feel about that. Cheers, Mark
@SwitchUpYt yes, indeed. And time management related, is a great thing the quality of life improvements the games have nowadays foe us parents, it save many tedious hours we don't want to spend anymore!
So, no challenge at all??? And i also heard that the economy is broken. You can get tons of money just by planting potatoes early game. Will wait until it fixed
You are the ONLY channel reviewing this! Thank you so much, I’ve been looking for some review RUclips content since its release and (as always) you guys have hit the mark! Well done 😊
I've never really been a big DLC buyer as I've usually moved on completely by the time the content releases, but this review did a fantastic job at reminding me how much I loved Eastward and how chill this looks. That along with the value and wanting to support the developers has sold me. I'm jumping in. Thanks, SwitchUp.
I just bought the bundle on steam yesterday since it was on sale and I’ve been wanting to play and then, you guys drop a review on it the very next day lol Thank you for the review! It has shown me that my purchase was a good one and hyped me to start playing asap
Eastward is always the first game I recommend to friends looking for a real hidden gem on the switch. Loved the first game and being 1k hours deep in stardew made this dlc a no brainer. I'm ~5hours in and feel in love all over. can't recommend it enough and I hope more people will play the first game now as well.
This looks really sweet for people that like the farm sim genre, and those who love the characters and want to spend a little more time with them. I played the demo for the original game and it wasn't my thing, but I definitely understand it's charm and why so many people love it
So happy this dlc turned out so well and that we can return to Eastward's world. Eastward's presentation and vibes are perfect for this genre and in my opinion the pixel art makes Octopia prettier than most games in the genre. The price is madness
I agree. They should just go full fledged farming sim like stardew valley. Where you watch the kid grow up(to teen, then adult) and ultimately john grows old and has to be cared for until he passes away. Treat it respectfully but realistically(dialogue wise/non gameplay). It could go from light hearted and simple gameplay- to full on sim- then bring in the deep heavier life subject matter, like a novel.. where by the end the gamer would feel all of the emotional pull of it. Like after an oscar winning, epic period piece. And why not when the games got probably the best pixel art style ever created.
I’m only a couple days in but it’s great to hear that that cooking/recipe crafting component ramps up because I was I little disappointed by the simplicity at first. Also excited to get to the mining portion. Seems like pixpil just can’t resist adding a little game within a game and I’m all for it.
Yeah I am playing this already and loving it, like you I was a little unsure about the genre change but it works so well and is as well put together as the original game that I can't get enough, at only 2 hours in so far I have a long way to go and can't wait, as always your review was fair, honest and spot on the money, keep it up switch up....
Just hearing the soundtrack brings tears a grown mans eyes. Eastward managed to make me feel something truly special, few games hit me as hard as it did. This game is the definition of gem. I was so happy to see a dlc but also wierded out by the farming sim format. Either way I knew it was gonna deliver. Thank you Chucklefish and SwitchUp for bringing attention to this game
Perfect timing for release as it's going to be a snowstorm till Tuesday for me so I can have farming sessions between using the snowblower. Bah the snow has already started!
Bundle, base and dlc all added to wishlist, cheers SwitchUp! Might order the physical if I can as well, I think it would look good on the backlog shelf lol
I was most likely going to get this at some point, but after watching that review that point is right about now. Loved Eastward and this just looks perfect
Now this is awesome, farm/cooking sims will never get old. I got more excited about this the more the mini games were explained! The fishing looks great! 🎣
I’m really not into farming sims, but you know what, I’m going to give this one a go. The base game was fantastic and the very reasonably priced DLC I think for expanding already mentioned great game is fair. Hats off to the devs for not going for a basic money grab… the fans will remember this ❤
I had no idea this came out! I really liked Eastward and was hoping we would get a continuation of the rather abrupt ending. This is obviously something else entirely but getting to experience more of the gorgeous graphics and music is good enough for me!
Seeing how few players the original version had on Xbox, I'm thrilled Eastward is more appreciated elsewhere. It's rare to see a game so full of earnest love and effort, where the amount of detail in even 'one-off' animations never failed to amaze me.
I absolutely adore Eastward! ❤ A little unsure with this dlc though as there's no action/fighting/puzzles etc and not the greatest fan of farm Sims but will see what you have to say 🤞 😂
I think so many games need a dlc like this. It would prevent post game depression if you can just build your home and town and have a nice place to go back to your world you love so much. One game in particular even though not on the switch.. but baldurs gate 3.. if you could help rebuild the town and just farm and stuff and I could still bang shadowheart whenever I want ^_^
This is an instant pick up from me! This really is such a bargain. I adore the original Eastward and tend to love games in the "cozy" sort of genre,, so having a more relaxed game with the same characters and charm as the original is absolutely perfect. The pixel art looks as gorgeous as ever!
I can think of few games that have captured my attention so far this year like Octopia has. I really do want to be able to have it on a cart, though I understand why they went the DLC route with this one.
Wow thanks! I've really struggled finding reviews so this is brilliant. I'm definitely going to buy it before the 15% deal ends, I just don't know when I'll get around to it as I'm currently fixated on..... Stardew valley lol! I don't play farming sims at all normally but I finally got round to trying it and I'm in love. So it looks like I'll love this too but I tend to space my genres out, I might be too burnt out on the genre. Seeing it run and listening to the music and sounds gives me nostalgia for when I played the brilliant base game. Anyway thanks again guys! I can always trust on this channel.
The main title, Eastward was so quirky and charming and Octopia is somehow MORE charming and quirky. Such a steal and so good for a farming sim, starts out a little slow but I love seeing the leaves of the friends we made in Eastward again. Only let down is I feel like they robbed us of the cooking mechanic, I mean in Eastward it was a whole thing, and the fishing in this is great but the cooking, so boring missing that element
Eastward was already a lovely game, from the story to the characters to the soundtrack... And now a great dlc coming as a treat for the fans of the game! Great job to the devs 👏
Got sidetracked with other games, so I haven't finished Eastward yet. Just finished Prince of Persia the Lost Crown (fun game). Now I am picking up Eastward (another fun game) again. Gonna be picking up the DLC for sure.
Wow. Eastward is one of the best games on Switch, and I’m way more impressed with this farming sim than I expected that I would be. Probably just because of that beautiful art style, and my relationship to these characters, because I’m not much a farm sim type of guy generally.
I have never even played (really never heard of) Eastward, but with the hype behind this DLC, I will have to go check out the original and then look at the DLC! Super excited!
I'm definitely getting the base game at some point, so I may get that DLC as well. I've never played a framing sim game, but who knows, maybe this is the game that'll help me get what the fuss is all about.
Would it be unwise to play the dlc before completing the main game? Love the farm sim style and I can definitely do the 20 hours but so far I haven't found the time for the full main game. Dumb idea? Or should I just pony up and get cracking on eastward first?
Reminds me back when dlc was a beloved idea full fledged new areas and mission decent hours, nowadays its just one mission a weapon set and maybe a animal companion lol glad eastward devs came through
I never really caught the life-sim fever, but Eastward had such a beautiful world that this could possibly hook me... I can certainly imagine some people preferring this to the base game! Hope we get a sequel... Westward perhaps?!
I’m currently working my way through Eastward, I’m at chp5 & loving it. It’s not a difficult game but it is fun. The cooking is better than zeldas with a funky tune I find myself dancing to. I think people who wanted DLC were probably looking at more of the same but I’m good with this, loved stardew valley, so eastward in that universe is great. I wonder if John will talk?
Fast travel points appear later in the game, at least they do in the Steam version which I assume is identical. They appear, as the narrator of Mr Ben used to say, "Suddenly, as if by magic." Honestly, I have no idea what I did for them to appear.
In love with this, Eastward is still one of my favourite games of all time and this DLC couldn't be closer to perfect really. It compliments the main game so well and you can tell the developers genuinely love this world and good grief, it shows. The only thing that I would add is that you probably need to have pkayed throufh the main game to get the most out of this one, which, I'm guessing, is why they chose to release this as a DLC rsther than a seperate game.
I would love to get my hands on this one! It is similar to what I played before which is Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town farming simulations like Harvest Moon and this one is definitely worth the time and money
The combination seems somewhat random, but thinking about it, playing through adventure games personally gets me in the farming sim mood (my delusional dream would be a Zelda farming sim). I haven't played Eastward yet so I don't know whether that would be the case here, but I know I'm gonna have to get that DLC either way!
This looks so cosy and amazing, honestly so excited to try this out. I wonder if this DLC will be included in the new Physical edition that Iam8bit are putting out? I did ask and they gave a very vague answer, which is frustrating because i want this game physical in one complete package
Gotta have serious RESPECT for a developer who does this - £5 for 20 hours of gaming that’s better than 90% of the same genre? Yes please! Please do let the devs know how you feel about that. Cheers, Mark
I played the demo at EGX and REALLY enjoyed it.
£5 is an absolute Barjain.
Honestly makes me want to support their future releases no matter what.
a DLC that requires the main game to play it is NOT A STANDALONE GAME
I Picked It Up Right Away 😂
No limited inventory? No pass out after stamina runs out? Yes please! I hope all developers take note of this fair way of publishing DLC. Chapeau.
Yeah it's like they actually want the experience to be fun rather than frustrating, happy days!
No limited inventory? God I love that. Reminds me of Crashlands, which I enjoyed playing too.
I like stamina and limited inventory. Gives you something to work towards and build up
Definite purchase for this one. Just an FYI - it's John and Sam not John and Sarah!
This has got to be one of the most unique DLCs ever made. I'm having a blast!
It's insanely good
I didn't expect it to be so different! I would love more games to explore DLC that is so different from the base game.
Glad to see this comment. When the positive reviews are flooding in, it's really a must have
Love that hazy summer look! I would love to see more games that replicate this aesthetic, reminds me of late summer afternoons!
Feels super chill to play. Mark
You are the ONLY channel reviewing this! Thank you so much, I’ve been looking for some review RUclips content since its release and (as always) you guys have hit the mark! Well done 😊
Josh's Gaming Garden is too but good to watch both videos
How did you guys know I was looking for a review for this? I can’t wait to play it! Going to buy it today 😊
Hehehe
After completing the game, it's nice to see where John ended up...just enjoying life
I've never really been a big DLC buyer as I've usually moved on completely by the time the content releases, but this review did a fantastic job at reminding me how much I loved Eastward and how chill this looks. That along with the value and wanting to support the developers has sold me. I'm jumping in. Thanks, SwitchUp.
Love the small details like the scarecrow telling you the weather and cooking system to give you more stamina.
Yeah it's brilliantly done! Mark
I just bought the bundle on steam yesterday since it was on sale and I’ve been wanting to play and then, you guys drop a review on it the very next day lol
Thank you for the review! It has shown me that my purchase was a good one and hyped me to start playing asap
Hope you enjoy it! Mark
Thanks for remind and motivate me to finish Eastward to play this wonderful DLC!
You're welcome. You can play this without finishing if needed :)
Couldn't agree more!
Very much look forward to this. Sounds great. Thanks for the review.
Yes yes yes here it is! Cheers for the review guys!
You're always welcome brother
SwitchUp is always first and the very best to review games!
Thank you mate! Mark
I picked up Eastward specifically because of your review, and you better believe I'm grabbing this DLC, too!
the colors, oh the glorious colors!
Ikr
This looks really sweet for people that like the farm sim genre, and those who love the characters and want to spend a little more time with them. I played the demo for the original game and it wasn't my thing, but I definitely understand it's charm and why so many people love it
This review is spot on. I have played a few hours so far and couldn’t believe the depth for so little money. So freaking good.
Really is! Mark
Oh wow I didn't realise this was out now. I am more than happy to return to this world.
Definitely mate it's been like hanging out with an old friend! Mark
So happy this dlc turned out so well and that we can return to Eastward's world. Eastward's presentation and vibes are perfect for this genre and in my opinion the pixel art makes Octopia prettier than most games in the genre. The price is madness

And why not when the games got probably the best pixel art style ever created.
I picked this up as soon as someone on Discord mentioned that it's already out. Absolute barjan!
Hahaha a complete barjan!
Bought it. Played it. Love it.
I've been waiting for this, I'm so excited that it's out now!! I initially bought Eastward due to the review and comments on this channel.
I’m only a couple days in but it’s great to hear that that cooking/recipe crafting component ramps up because I was I little disappointed by the simplicity at first. Also excited to get to the mining portion. Seems like pixpil just can’t resist adding a little game within a game and I’m all for it.
I have a 9 hr flight next week. This. This is what I will be doing the entire time.
Lovely stuff mate the time will fly... Oof I'll get my coat
Loved Eastward, and I’m so excited for this release. The price makes it even more amazing, so nice to see a developer do this
Couldn't agree more!
looking forward to playing this! finished the base game just earlier this week!
Love this! Surprised value didn’t get 20/20. 😊 need to wrap up my Eastward play through so I can dive into this.
Only knocked a point after it crashed in me and the performance dipped a little. Mark
Love everything about this dlc so glad the devs took this approach
Yeah it's really just lovely to play
Just hearing the soundtrack brings tears a grown mans eyes. Eastward managed to make me feel something truly special, few games hit me as hard as it did.
This game is the definition of gem. I was so happy to see a dlc but also wierded out by the farming sim format. Either way I knew it was gonna deliver. Thank you Chucklefish and SwitchUp for bringing attention to this game
Exactly right. Mark
Perfect timing for release as it's going to be a snowstorm till Tuesday for me so I can have farming sessions between using the snowblower. Bah the snow has already started!
Snow outside and sun inside, glorious. Mark
Looks great, I do have to finally get this and then the Dlc, amazing
Well worth adding to the log. Mark
@@SwitchUpYt yeah I agree lol! Been on my list for ages, just need to find a physical copy lol
Bundle, base and dlc all added to wishlist, cheers SwitchUp!
Might order the physical if I can as well, I think it would look good on the backlog shelf lol
Awesome there's a lovely vinyl as well 😀 great soundtrack
@@SwitchUpYt Thanks, I'll give it a listen if I can get my hands on it and a player!
I love these little surprises! Made my weekend. Cheers from colorful Colorado
Awesome did not know this was coming and I can’t wait to play it, thank you for calling out the sale.
I was most likely going to get this at some point, but after watching that review that point is right about now. Loved Eastward and this just looks perfect
Hope you enjoy it! So chill
I had NO clue that this was coming out and I'm a huge fan of Eastward! So happy!
Thanks for all the videos, this is my number one channel for switch game knowledge
Hats off to the devs for not going for a basic money grab… the fans will remember this ❤
Totally unexpected surprise! What a friggin cool dev. Can’t wait to see what they do next
I loved eastward but I’m also a lover of farming sims I never thought I would see this and I’m over the moon about it!
Been looking forward to this since it was announced finally got myself settled in the sofa looks like a late cosy night for me!
I had no idea this came out! I really liked Eastward and was hoping we would get a continuation of the rather abrupt ending. This is obviously something else entirely but getting to experience more of the gorgeous graphics and music is good enough for me!
The original game was one of the best experiences I had in last years, alongside with Iconoclasts.
Seeing how few players the original version had on Xbox, I'm thrilled Eastward is more appreciated elsewhere. It's rare to see a game so full of earnest love and effort, where the amount of detail in even 'one-off' animations never failed to amaze me.
Yes it's absolutely a labour of love. Mark
What an amazing dev. This dlc looks wonderful. Thanks for putting it in the spotlight
YES!!! Eastward is just SOOOOO good. I know this will be awesome too 🎉
You know it mate. Mark
Good punning in the intro there, very good indeed.
I thank you! 😅
I absolutely adore Eastward! ❤ A little unsure with this dlc though as there's no action/fighting/puzzles etc and not the greatest fan of farm Sims but will see what you have to say 🤞 😂
Such a great game! Mark
Just picked them both up and looking forward to playing them
I waited almost two months for this DLC. Bought it day one. Couldn't be happier. Everyone love this genre should get this game.
Cool! I just got this DLC. I really should finish the main game but I think that I might have more fun with Octopia! Great video, Big ups Switch Up!
i have still yet to try eastward but this look lovely, that fishing minigame looks fun! thanks for the review guys!
Wow. That is amazing. At this point a game without a battle pass is surprising but that is a deal.
The Zelda cooking sound is what hooked me
My kids love dancing along to the cooking song as the ingredients dance in the pan! ❤
I think so many games need a dlc like this. It would prevent post game depression if you can just build your home and town and have a nice place to go back to your world you love so much. Hope you enjoy it!

I concur - absolutely amazing value and content. AAAs can learn something here (but they won't).
Bought it for a very cheap price!!! Thank you!!!❤❤❤
Wow thanks! I've really struggled finding reviews so this is brilliant. I'm definitely going to buy it before the 15% deal ends, I just don't know when I'll get around to it as I'm currently fixated on..... Stardew valley lol! I just beat the final boss in Eastward yesterday morning. Went straight to the eshop and bought Octopia. Really happy to hear it was a good decision!
Wow. Eastward is one of the best games on Switch, and I’m way more impressed with this farming sim than I expected that I would be. Probably just because of that beautiful art style, and my relationship to these characters, because I’m not much a farm sim type of guy generally.

You definitely should, it's awesome
Always give your videos a like, but you earned it for the Stardew pun alone. Good work
I'm definitely getting the base game at some point, so I may get that DLC as well. I've never played a framing sim game, but who knows, maybe this is the game that'll help me get what the fuss is all about.
I've been playing it since it came out the dlc is top class absolutely loving it so far
Would it be unwise to play the dlc before completing the main game? Love the farm sim style and I can definitely do the 20 hours but so far I haven't found the time for the full main game. Dumb idea? Or should I just pony up and get cracking on eastward first?
Great question.
Definitely gonna dive into this one once I'm over this cold. Eastward was an absolutely amazing game 🖤
Love the price...thx bruv
Nothing but LOVE and RESPECT for these developers. It's always a GOOD game, with zero greed.
The art style of eastward is perfect for this new direction. Definite pick up!
It compliments the main game so well and you can tell the developers genuinely love this world and good grief, it shows.

this is why i love indie developers, man. they have more passion than 99.9% of triple A studios.
I don't own this game but it's definitely on my wishlist to pickup later. Great video👌
Love eastward one of my favourite games can't wait to try this
Nice. I'll be sure to get this someday.
This what DLCs should be like
based
absolutely loved the base game alot and this dlc is sm fun
Oh wow this looks so good 🥰
I would love to get my hands on this one!
I haven't played Eastward yet so I don't know whether that would be the case here, but I know I'm gonna have to get that DLC either way!
it is veryenjoyable! highly recomnded!
I’m having so much fun with this dlc!
I haven't even started the base game yet, but I'm going to buy the dlc now just to support the devs.
This looks so cosy and amazing, honestly so excited to try this out. I wonder if this DLC will be included in the new Physical edition that Iam8bit are putting out? I did ask and they gave a very vague answer, which is frustrating because i want this game physical in one complete package
I've been waiting for this dlc!
I love farming games and this one looks interesting. Do we need to complete Eastward to play this DLC? Thank you.
