Just wanted to say that I find your videos incredibly relaxing and pleasant to watch. I'm glad that the farming sim genre is finally taking off. So many great farming sims coming out this and next year. I hope that you'll get plenty of views as a result and that you get blessed by the RUclips algorithm. You deserve it!
I noticed the frame rate drop and I don't usually notice this. Other than that I'm quite happy with it, and it definitely hits differently if you played the base game :3
I've been playing Octopia during the weekend and I ADORE it. It's so cute and I love the art style and the characters, but I played Eastward before. At least for me, the game runs very well on PC and I haven't had issues with crashing yet.
I've been so excited for Octopia because when Eastward was released I was so excited for it! I ended up... not liking the base game very much 🥹 This alternate reality of the game is PERFECT for me because I get all the characters I love along with the beautiful pixel art style I was drawn to!! Thanks for a great review Josh 😊
I played the main game for about 10 hours or less but kind of wish there was some kind of connection to bring things from the farm to the main game or vice-versa.
Based on your description Octopia seems like the game equivalent of a fanfic - using characters the player is familiar with from the main game in a completely new and unrelated world and story. (already bought it on switch, so I guess I'll wait for a patch before playing)
if anything, I would've liked to see more connection with the base game. I know it's like an alternate universe but a little nod with Eastward NPCs would be great! I love me some good short games! It's unfortunatate that the game crashes every 3 hours, hopefully this is a different case on other platforms.
I don't think its a good game for a non Eastward fan. For me, we can only like the story and the characters if you already played the main game, because you'll know they story and quirks wich is what makes a farming sim interesting.
This would be better off on PC/steam deck even tho it's rather annoying to deal with not only frame rate, performance and crashes on the switch version. Hopefully they update all that along with the minor parts like knowing if your crops are watered in visual aspect to make the watered spots darker. Also yes the balance is quite off for a farm sim game which is not normal on any game.
Obviously I had to pick this up immediately, but once I saw your review, I knew I made the right choice to pick up this up. The dlc is what really interested me too. It's awesome I was able to snag this + the dlc bundle on sale. I will likely wait for a patch before I play it though.
I am surprised you had crashes and issues with rain lag, I had none of this during my play through at all. I did play on an OLED so not sure if that could be a difference.
This is the only game I’ve played on Switch for the past month! I love the art style and setting, and the music is fantastic! I didn’t care much for the base game, but this DLC is perfect. ☺️
The dialogue is definitely one of the weakness in Eastward, they are unnecessary long. At first I was intrigued and talked to everybody, but I'm currently on my last 2 chapter of the main game and I skimmed through the dialogues a lot. But overall, the base game is fun enough, the puzzle is good, it's a pretty game and Octopia looks fun too. I hope they patch the issue tho
i like when farming games make me want to play just one more day. i can't say im getting that feeling with this game. I'm also finding it too slow paced especially for such a short game. i want to be able to finish it but it's starting to feel like a drag for me.
Didn’t see, in your review, anything really original brought by this game - so, another usual, very dull, farming game. Redundant. Will certainly not bring new players to the genre. Pass, for me. Thank you for the extensive review.

I just started playing Octopia. I think this will be my new wind-down game after work 🤗 Your orchard looks beautiful~
Thanks for the video, Josh! I picked it up after watching your live stream.
Awesome! Hope you're enjoying it! 🥕
I really loved Eastward, and hope the studio does well. Will definitely be picking this up when some of the issues get hammered out.

just make it a standalone game. who thought it was a good idea to put it out as a DLC?
This was a really good, thorough review! Thanks for putting this out so quickly, I was so curious about how this would turn up.

Currently enjoying Octopia, thank you for this!

Hey Josh, what is a good combat system on a farm sim?
excellent analysis
Can i keep playing octopia? Or does it have an end?
You can keep playing it even after the story ends!
Do you get to choose character M/F or are you locked into playing the girl?
You technically play as both most of the time, but John is the character you control directly!
aku game utamanya dan saya penasaran dengan dlcnya
Performance issues are entirely the switch's fault - the system is appalling. If you'd like to play, definitely go for the PC version!
Here because of your 2024 tier list✋🏽
I think it’s funny people expect these games to run flawlessly on the garbage hardware of the switch.
In what world does it make sense to play and review a DLC without playing the main game...
It makes sense for reviewers that only played the dlc.
This dlc is like a game within a game. You can play it completely separately from the base game, you just have to own the base game to own this one.
