@@HeyRoosty The only things I've seen as negative marks on this game are the fact that it's broken up in chunks with weird pacing. The dialogue sections are THICK. Like you'll get HUGE chunks of the game where the characters just talk. Then smallish chunks of gameplay. This made the game feel more like a visual novel for some. That said I think it's perfect. It fuses a classic JRPG tale, and story-telling into a fun little Zelda-Like. It's pretty bonkers how good it is in that regard. I think anyone who says it's a dissapointment just expected something filled with more gameplay interaction. It doesn't have a lot of that. Gameplay interaction is basically limited to: - Smallish chunks of "dungeon" type areas. These are filled with somewhat easy puzzles, and increasingly difficult monsters at times. Your tools are pretty limited though. These areas play like a Zelda game. You won't really be backtracking much, as the experience of these "dungeons" is pretty linear. - Treasure hunting for hidden chests all over the gameworld. - Collecting the Pixball "figures" which is sort of addicting, and helps you with the next gameplay aspect. - A built in mini-Dragon Quest-Like game that is pretty much a fully fleshed out classic JRPG inside the game. It has rogue-like elements and collecting the Pixball figures helps you by giving you items to use in game. - Mini-games that happen occasionally such as little part-time jobs, or baseball, river-rafting. - Cooking mini-game, which is pretty simple but fun, and you'll need to get creative to figure out recipes, with some sidequests requiring you to cook some dishes. All of that gameplay is pretty spread out, and basic in concept. You're not going to be doing "dungeons" a WHOLE lot, and the JRPG Earth Born is basically a completely separate part of the game, despite being sort of linked. The game is undeniably AMAZING, it's far from a disappointment. I think if somebody found it disappointing they probably just dislike the slow slice-of-life pace of the game. It's quite good though. I am definitely love this game. I like it a lot more than Deltarune, which more people are interested in at the moment. It feels like a Triple-A title made in the 90's time blasted into the future. I think most people will generally love it if they like that older form of JRPG story-telling.
I think this is the highest score I ever seen you guys give out. Must be a great game will be picking it up for sure… Where does everyone get the time to play all these games.. hahahahhah
I can honestly say that I've never seen a review score quite like this one. The developers saw the bar, smiled, and said, "How about we raise it...?" Well, that is exactly what they did.

I already have the digial pre ordered, but I still intend to get a physical copy; however, I am sure with the game looking to be a very loved game by players and critics alike, the game will get a physical release in the West by some publisher at some point (whether it be brought to retail or just released by a "limited" company such as LRG). Also, by then I would hope all future patches will have been finished as well.

Congrats on the 200K Finally, a review that wasn't absolutely heartbreaking. I knew I wanted this game. But the recent reviews of games I wanted and had high hopes for left me a little hesitant. My faith in the gaming industry has been mildly restored... for now. This is one I'll definitely be picking up and adding to my already extensive backlog.

This game just came out on Gamepass recently, I rarely play indie games but my god this one is so good! It might be a bit slow at times but overall I really love it! And the art OMG it's so beautiful 😍
Visuals and pixel art is great . But to me it was like too much cutscenes and text bubbles. And very simplistic gameplay. It was like almost, go from A to B trigger cutscene. I end up given up on it .
Everyday since it was announced, I check for reviews so I can decide whether to buy it while it's on sale on steam. I'm so thankful for this review I'll be buying this now.

Okay, so this channel has never really enticed me to purchase a game until now. The only problem is, is that it's only coming to Switch. I have been burned way too many times buying a Switch "exclusive" like this, for it to come out later on the Xbox, where I would much rather play it. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU HADES). So y'all did a great job of selling the game to me, but this the first time I've been conflicted, cause I want it on my platform of choice, and not have to be swindled into buying it again there if I pick this up on Switch. Sigh.
I can confirm that it's not coming on Playstation (Chucklefish already made a stance in the past about how the Playstation Store is really bad for indie game). However I can see a Xbox version later. 😁

Glad you enjoyed it. I thought it was one of the most disappointing games in a while. Slow paced. Tons of cheesy, bland dialogue you can't skip. Combat is far too simple and easy. I'm happy other people enjoyed it, but also baffled by how 😂

damn, i didnt like this game at all, was waiting for it since it was announced back in 2019 or something. it is beautiful but that's it. the combat is repetitive, the puzzles are boring, and the storytelling is not the worst but so much of it is just walking around doing pointless quests.. had the feeling it would be somehow like earthbound but it isnt anyway, if you played it and like it i guess thats it, good for you :)
I couldn't finish it. There was so much 'faff'. The combat was boring and far too easy, and although the story was really interesting - There was just so damn much dialogue, it felt like I was reading a script instead of playing a game.

I'm so happy to hear that this game turned out well. It has been on my radar for quite a while, mostly due to the beautiful art style. With the rest of the package sounding on par with the visuals, I'm sold!
Came back here after watching the DLC video today. I can't believe I let the aggregate review convince me this isn't a game worth picking up. I was so impressed with the look of it when it was first announced. I think I just need to pick this up, and Ill be getting the bundle with the DLC.

Okay, so this channel has never really enticed me to purchase a game until now. The only problem is, is that it's only coming to Switch. I have been burned way too many times buying a Switch "exclusive" like this, for it to come out later on the Xbox, where I would much rather play it. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU HADES). So y'all did a great job of selling the game to me, but this the first time I've been conflicted, cause I want it on my platform of choice, and not have to be swindled into buying it again there if I pick this up on Switch. Sigh.

I can confirm that it's not coming on Playstation (Chucklefish already made a stance in the past about how the Playstation Store is really bad for indie game). However I can see a Xbox version later. 😁
It deserves to be bought on both 😏 play it now, play it again later
@@Terranigma23 lol you can confirm nothing. If it does really well I’d say there’s a good chance it could end up on playstation too. Stardew did

Glad you enjoyed it. I thought it was one of the most disappointing games in a while. Slow paced. Tons of cheesy, bland dialogue you can't skip. Combat is far too simple and easy. I'm happy other people enjoyed it, but also baffled by how 😂

damn, i didnt like this game at all, was waiting for it since it was announced back in 2019 or something. it is beautiful but that's it. the combat is repetitive, the puzzles are boring, and the storytelling is not the worst but so much of it is just walking around doing pointless quests.. had the feeling it would be somehow like earthbound but it isnt
anyway, if you played it and like it i guess thats it, good for you :)
I am so relieved it turned out good! I preordered it last week and couldn't wait another day for it to release
I couldn't finish it. There was so much 'faff'. The combat was boring and far too easy, and although the story was really interesting - There was just so damn much dialogue, it felt like I was reading a script instead of playing a game.

I'm so happy to hear that this game turned out well. It has been on my radar for quite a while, mostly due to the beautiful art style. With the rest of the package sounding on par with the visuals, I'm sold!

Came back here after watching the DLC video today. I can't believe I let the aggregate review convince me this isn't a game worth picking up. I was so impressed with the look of it when it was first announced. I think I just need to pick this up, and Ill be getting the bundle with the DLC.

Great review! Really excited for this. Just wish the subway and "game world opening back up at 10 hours when you expect it to end" weren't spoiled. I love discovering stuff like that without expecting it!
