This game seems to be a fantastic example of what a game can and should be. No need for 100 million dollars and cutting edge graphics necessarily. Cheers guys.
It’s so nice to hear you talking about playing together and not being able to stop 😊 it’s clear that you have fun working together on this channel, and the positive vibes are contagious. Anyway, I don’t have a favourite game of this genre, didn’t play many 😅
I love games in the crafting-meets-exploration-meets-farming genre. Some of my favourites of this archetype are My Time at Portia and Sandrock, the post-apocalypse setting is a cool backdrop to explore. Looking forward to this game!
Maybe you would also like Graveyard Keeper. And Sun Haven was just released on Switch. There is also Potion Permit as an additional game which scratches the vibes.
The beauty of this game is its nostalgic charm, simplicity, and creativity. These type of games brings you back to those days when it's friday afternoon coming home from school and pleasing your dad to set up your video game. OMG take me back ❤
I have been obsessed with this amazing game for a few weeks now. It scratches the Minecraft itch for sure! Runs well on the Switch in both handheld and docked modes. Plus the map is humongous! Load times are short too!
Oh wow that sounds awesome! Always like games with elder scrolls-esque leveling systems, feels natural. On a side note, it would be great to have a short section while rating audio without chatter, to have a clear impression of the music and sound effects. 🎶
Terraria is probably my favorite in this style of game. For now, this game core keeper has a really good 1.0, so I'll absolutely be interested in how this game will turn out later down the line, as anyone who knows terraria, that game expanded quite alot with its updates. So hopefully the same is true for this game. As for tips, I recommend building crude drills with your early tin to set up a wood farm. Plant root seeds along a line, place crude drills along with a power source for them and some conveyerbelts to and the wood will grow into the drill get "mined" then move them all to a single point. Will make keeping a nice stock of wood easy.
The same team that made core keep also just announced another game that looks like terraria that they are working on called Kyora you should look it up. As a huge fan of terraria I enjoyed core keeper and am really looking forward to Kyora.
This game has taken over my entire life! Its so enjoyable honestly. The perfect mix of Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Terraria and maybe even Satsifactory. Its very rewarding. I5 just dings all the reward centers in my brain. Perfectly executed and completely enjoyable.
@vidclarke I personally think so. I've been playing it for a long time though so I'm sure nostalgia plays a huge role in that. I'm in my 30s and I usually love games like Minecraft and I finally tried it recently but it just didn't do anything for me. But so many people love it because they've been playing it forever. It's probably the same with Terraria. But I personally love it. If you enjoy other games like Minecraft, Core Keeper, Stardew valley, I think it's absolutely worth a shot for you. 🩵
This looks like just the combination of crafting and base building that I’ve been looking for! I haven’t found anything that scratches the itch yet - I tried Terraria a while back but that was on Steam Deck and I just could not figure out the controls. This looks like it fits the bill, and that lighting is just lovely.
My favourite game at the moment is Eastward! A beautiful 2d pixel based rpg that has combat and cooking elements. And the dlc has more of a resource gathering focus.
Saving my $$ to try to get into The Witcher 3 properly and redeem my mistake of trading in The Outer Worlds on Friday. However thanks for covering more indie games SwitchUp, you gents are soon becoming the authority on indie gems. Well done!
I just started a new playthrough on Witcher 3 for the switch! Its absolutely worth it. I played it on ps4 back in the day, but having it mobile is amazing. It for sure one of my favorites.
@@nixipixi8945thanks for the encouraging words, I feel like its a quintessential experience that, through a lack of understanding when I first played, I missed out on. I'm hoping I can get my hands on a physical copy soon. Thanks again, hope you're well.
Such a good game played it on steam since early access and had to pick the physical up once it came to the switch 100% recommend if you're in to crafting/ survival games 👍
I’ve been waiting for u to review this game and I’m totally blown away how beautiful and addictive this looks! Looking forward to hopefully get this game soon in the future and dive into it. Amazing review, thank you so much ☺️
Of all the games referenced, STARDEW VALLEY is definitely my favorite. I definitely wouldn't sneeze at getting a coat to check this out 😅 My wife and I have started playing games online so we can use both of our Switch systems to play independently and handheld.
Wasn't expecting Laurence llewelyn bowen to come up in this review 😂 My fave in this genre would have to be Ark: Survival Evolved AFTER the complete graphics overhaul on Switch! Such a pleasant surprise with tons and tons of content. Definitely recommend it in its current state 👍🏻
Big fan of your content. I really can't get enough of your approach to the reviews and how honest you guys are. I honestly haven't played any game from a similar genre, but I really would like to give this one a crack. I am playing a survival action/adventure game called Outward, but there's something about the atmosphere of Core Keeper and how every single action means something that really makes me want to pick it up
I told you gents...😁 glad to finally see your review of it, I knew you guys would be the main channel that would do it justice of getting the word out to others about it. Some notes worth mentioning: Tip: I just figured this out last night lol, but when you are in your main inventory/character menu, once you acquire pets that level up, click on the small arrow at the bottom right of your character's loadout menu and it will actually open up your pet's skill tree for you to spend their points and upgrade them! Didn't even know they had a skill tree until I found that last night 😂 Also, they've made a bunch of great improvements on the interface with this latest update, you can now do things like sort your pack inventory without having to be at a chest for the button to pop up, can craft from any workstation like benches & anvils without having to physically have the needed items on your person, as long as they're in a nearby chest in your work area it'll just pull from those. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other stuff, but yeah...such a good game. This should be a no-brainer on the current 25% off sale. I didn't even know it had a physical. I might pick that up too just to have one
I haven't really played much of this genre but I have played Dragon Quest Builders 2 which I loved. This seems like a 2D version of that? Honestly this game looks right up my alley so for sure I am going to check it out at some point.
my favourite crafting/survival game has to be terraria. not enough people talk about it anymore. i remember playing it way back in the day on an old pc and then the proceeding to buy it on every platform i got through the years because it means to much to me. wonderful game. this looks right up my alley
Oh come on, Mark! You did it again! Here I am enjoying the review, relieved that this game may not need to weigh down my backlog and BOOM! You mention Morrowind again!?!? Of course I now need to own this, if it reminds you of the Morrowind menu music 😢
My favourite crafting game is Minecraft as it was the first game I ever played with my friends I have very happy memories with it, it will always have a place in my heart ❤❤❤
Honestly I like Core Keeper the best out of this genre. Great visuals, lighting, progression, soundtrack, boss battles, and captivating story. Others great one in the genre that weren't mentioned include Necesse, Starbound, Don't Starve, Noita, Junk Jack, Grounded.
Core keeper has been on my radar since I watched some streamers played during early access a while back. I never really played any sandbox games but always wanted to try. This game seems to be a good fit for me because of its art style, farm sims and dungeon crawling elements. Playing a free code will be a lovely way to get a friend to join me for online multiplayer 😊
My favourite Crafting / Survival game is still Minecraft . I kind of wish it wasn't, but there is something about the vast stillness of the game and the biome variety, the huge chasms, the epic mountains. I don't play it all the time, but I always come back to it.
You Were Right SwitchUp's Ability to Make Me Part With £££ is AMAZING! My favorite in the Survival Sandbox Adventure RPG genre would be Valheim (I think that counts anyway). I always enjoy the mechanic where skills improve just from using them so this one sounds right up my alley.
I bought this game via Steam for my PC (I've sank over 100+ hours on this in the space of 4week), and it's fantastic. I have it on my Switch wishlist, but at the moment, and will probably grab it later on.
This game looks so great I gotta have to give it a try. I really love Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and also my favourite Graveyard Keeper, so this might be right up my alley.

Thanks for covering it. Was worried it wouldn’t run well on switch. Look forward to getting my boys into it. Sad I’ll have to get 3 copies though that makes for a much more costly experience. Was hoping for some couch co-op. Clearly I’m too old and that’s just not a big thing anymore.
I think, seeing everything going on on screen, that the internal memory of the switch can't properly handle splitscreen. For me, the switch struggles with splitscreen minecraft. I hope the beefed up internals of the switch2 will help a lot.

Bout to go on my honeymoon and me and my wife are looking for some cozy time killers and BOY does this look right up our ally. Once again, thank you guys!!!
I have been waiting to hear more thoughts on Core Keeper. The art style looks lovely. Definitely giving me 2D Minecraft vibes. I love playing Story of Seasons for the fun mix of farming, Dungeon hunting and crafting. 🎉
There's something about "the dark" in video games that really freaks me out... From Donkey Kong Country to Metroid Prime... I'm trying to trace it back to my earliest gaming memory... (So I would always pick the character with the lantern!)
I have been a huge fan of Terraria ever since its release on PC and much later the Switch. So much variety and so many items to find. Core Keeper looks amazing!
Looks great - a nice mix of genres that reminds me a lot of Terraria but also the RPG side of Hammerwatch 2. Love the fact everything is destructible as it feels like you can really make the WORLD your own, not just a base. I liked this about Dragon Quest Builders too. I can see a lot of those games in Core Keeper and looks like tons of fun :)

Honestly rune factory 4. Crafting/mining is abit meh but the adventure and farming aspect absolutely rocks.
This game seems to be a fantastic example of what a game can and should be. No need for 100 million dollars and cutting edge graphics necessarily. Cheers guys.
Exactly, just make a fun game. If it's fun, I'll play it
Yes. Back in the day the games were fun and highly replayable.
Nowadays it is more about the graphics, but one or two plays is more than enough.
This has really good graphics actually!
@ ya, I like them too.
@@Knuffol-j9m Eh, rather uninspired, run-of-the-mill hipster "pixelart". But it's fine. Better than many other modern pixel art games.

Anyway, I don’t have a favourite game of this genre, didn’t play many 😅

This game is SO GOOD. It's so addicting! It's genuinely one of my favorite in the last year or so.

I just got this 3 days ago, don't know what I'm doing yet but this is a very addictive game.
What is it about a warm glow in a pixilated cavern that entices us all so much?!
I suspect it appeals to our ape-brains, reminding us of bygone years as early man, sheltering in cave systems from the wind and rain. Comfy.
It honestly reminded me of Stardew Valley meets old school Zelda. And those are two of my all-time favorite games so it seems quite nifty.
Looks great been wanting to play this!. Thanks for the review
This looks great! Excellent. Another game for my wishlist.
been waiting for this review before deciding to buy or not! great video. thanks for all you guys do :)
This is a must buy! WOW!! Totally up my alley and seems like a time sink for sure!! Thanks so much for the amazing review as always 😊
Just got it last night, looking forward to diving in more over the Holidays.

As a game it always looked amazing watching it on pc, it was always a matter of performance.
Plays almsot perfectly on the switch. One crash in about 100 hrs of play and it wasn't a big deal cuz auto save happens often enough
Well this doesn’t half bad! Keeping my eye on this one 👀
It's amazing quiet honestly.
Core Keeper is fantastic. Loved playing it with my friends on steam in coop. Great time!

Astroneer is the game in this category that I like the most. I got lost in it with my best friend and had a blast digging deeper into the planets. 😊
Another quality review for a quality game
My most wanted game to play

🎉 favorite or this genre... Terraria for music, Steamworld Dig 2 for digging 😅
Yeah! Knew you would like it!

After your review, will get this - but I will wait for a discount (that said, it would be great to get a code haha!)
Keep it up guys!
Not a genre I have ever played, or had interest in, but this one just might do it! Thanks for the review fellas.
Bout to go on my honeymoon and me and my wife are looking for some cozy time killers and BOY does this look right up our ally. Once again, thank you guys!!!
I must admit I’m new to the genre, but it looks up my alley.
I have been waiting to hear more thoughts on Core Keeper. The art style looks lovely. Definitely giving me 2D Minecraft vibes. I love playing Story of Seasons for the fun mix of farming, Dungeon hunting and crafting. 🎉
I have Core Keeper on Steam and can’t wait to pick this one up on the Switch. 💎
Love the look of this 😍
Thanks for the video
I saw this game and was on the fence.. thinks I may get this one.
There's something about "the dark" in video games that really freaks me out... From Donkey Kong Country to Metroid Prime... I'm trying to trace it back to my earliest gaming memory...
(So I would always pick the character with the lantern!)
