kickstarter backer for the switch here - absolutely heartbreaking to see the game released in this state for us! that said i’m so grateful for you josh for releasing videos like this because it tells me to do something different with my afternoon! i’ll wait for a patch or two before tackling this game…
*sigh* the crashing is 100% a full/leaky memory system where assets are loaded and incorrectly/not deleted from memory. That's a coding issue that's as old as software releases and it's sad to see that people still can't polish up their code to prevent that.
It still happens in their PC version as well, it's just less noticeable because PCs can handle it for longer. It's the only game I've ever bought on steam that I had to actively remind myself to quit out of/load back in after a couple of hours to prevent any issues. And I have a computer that handles games like BG3, WoW, etc. totally fine.
Hot take, but that's one reason I vastly prefer Unreal over Unity and Godot; Unreal handles the bulk of that for you. It makes focusing on actual game design much simpler. But, to be fair, C# is not hard and a game made in Unity should not be having memory leaks with a half-decent programmer. Same with Godot and GDScript.
@@PlazDreamweaver i am only a beginner dev but i see why they have a hard time, im sure their architecture wasnt good and they started building off a frame that was never meant to go that far. Its like these devs never want to do that once their game makes money.
Sadly I'm not surprised at all. The game is also still buggy on pc and controls on steam deck are clunky. The devs sadly feel a bit sketchy cuz they keep releasing paid cosmetics but don't focus on fixing the obvious problems. It's sad cuz the game is so cute and promising 😞

i mean for people who really know whats going on and accoding to reviews they did not credit their artists in the credits and use AI for translations which results in awful translations so im not surprised. They hate artists all around and are way more greedy than most non publisher indie games with cozy games
I truly hope Sun Haven devs will see this. I was so incredibly excited to play this game on the switch with my husband. I am so incredibly disappointed, but I am so grateful for your video, Josh! ❤
Got called toxic by Pixel Sprout Studios Stans and now, I wonder where those people are now that the switch port has released in this state. Always a red flag when a team releases DLC or Micro transactions before critical functions for a game/QA. I’m glad I’m not alone in this, it really is sad because there is a foundation of a great game, but it is just marred by bad business practices and bugs. 😢
I loved Sun Haven when it was still in early access and played a few dozen hours. Then it "released" and they immediately churned out so many cosmetic DLCs and it gave me such a bad taste in my mouth that I dropped the game completely. Especially after the reports of endless bugs, the lack of updating the game to have a coherent style between characters and just adding more content without fixing the old. It's really disappointing to see how they don't even credit their overworked employees, but not surprising. The awful switch port is just the cherry on top.
Ugh… I feel for my switch friends. I waited so long to play this and finally picked up a steam deck this last summer. I just don’t understand why games are released in this state.
Because publishers know most people won't refund a broken game. They'll wait for a patch and end up keeping the game so long they'll be outside of their refund window.
@@planescaped While the Switch is underpowered a lot of the problems from games ultimately come down to the devs not optimizing. Look at something like Mortal Combat 1 which was just dumped onto the system as compared to a game like Dave the Diver which took a bit longer to release on Switch but ran smoothly on the system
Money. The longer the game has to be worked on the more money is spent. So companies, punlishers, or devs release the game to make money and patch it later.
"If you're listening to this video as a background..." That's me! LMAO! Thanks for the heads up. I always enjoy listening and watching your reviews! 😆💕
Been on the fence about getting this game on switch.. It's so sad how many games seem to be an awful experience on this console. Thanks for the review. :((
not nearly as egregious as this, but omw Paleo Pines runs absolutely *atrocious* on switch, when it should be like, the best suited handheld game for cold nights in bed. 😭
I bought this game on the switch yesterday, and it's crazy that my gameplay experience has been almost identical. Which is really sad, since I've never played or watched anything on it before, just heard positive things! Like literally down to the crash in the opening and then not being able to move for a couple seconds when you come back, my 2nd crash was when I went to Lucia's house, no huge assets on my end but instead the floor was just entirely white, and it crashed when I left. And then I also crashed the first time going to dragons meet like?? 3 crashes in almost all the exact same ways...they definitely have to fix it
If so many people are having these same issues, I wonder how much playtesting they did... 🤔 I know they are working on a patch now, so hopefully at least the crashes should get resolved.
not gonna lie, after the shady stuff around the lying and lack of credits and price difference, it feels like they took one look at the eShop "No Refunds Ever For Any Reason" policy and went "heck yeah!" and this is why we use steam, everyone. heck, even other consoles will refund if the game is broken enough, and I can't see that mess and constant crashing not being enough of an example to get one. except then Nintendo might have to refund their own buggy tech demos masquerading as entries in building-dollar game series.
That much lag in such a simple character creator? Daaaaang. I'd been low-key waiting for the Switch port to drop for ages but was already hesitant after reading about the troubled development and horrid controller support, so I'm not surprised by how sketch this seems. Guess I'll be waiting further to see if it ever gets patched up, but I won't be holding my breath.
I'd refer you to BeatEmUps video on the Estore. The whole thing sucks, so it's hardly surprising there's no QA on it. Even when it comes to filtering out, uh, "Adult content" games, even if you make a child's account, they still make it through regular, and you'd think a company obsessed with it's image and family content as Nintendo would stop that, but they haven't bothered.
That's not true, everything must go through submission. I guess the submission process is lacking in quality though. The crashes should have resulted in a failure.@@Alfredopizzaluver151
@@Alfredopizzaluver151 Considering there are still no refunds across the board on Switch, one would assume they have to have somebody vetting the games. They're just doing it very badly I guess.
@@planescapedEvery game has to go through cert and Nintendo is more thorough and tedious than other publishers. So, for shovelware and AI corn to continually fill up the eShop, there is clearly something terribly wrong with Nintendo's cert process.
Thank you as always for the honest review! I dropped this game when the DLCs started rolling in, but i was genuinely hoping to be able to pick it back up later, because there were fun bits. I'll check again in a year or so lol!
With minor bugs I can live but crashes are an absolute no go! Had several playing Potion Permit on the Switch and it just gives me anxiety thinking it might crash at any moment and make me lose my progress
I'm so confused how they can charge more than 20 bucks for games like this. Like yeah I'm sure it can be hard for indie developers to port to Switch but at least have the game function. After seeing how crappy this port is, I dunno if I want to try the PC version either. They are out of their minds releasing this in this state.
I have 112 hours on the steam version too and did really like the game, there's so much good there and it's truly fun with a friend. The pixel art is wonderful and it has good unique features. But after the initial enjoyment it really started sinking in how scewed the priorities are for the development of this game. A major update bringing 25 new DLC packs and really no actual new content aside from gameplay tweaks is an absolute joke about greed when the game is still quite buggy even on PC, does not have proper controller support and the switch port ends up shipping out in this state. I feel truly bad for anyone who's only option is on the switch, but hey at least it doesnt have the absolute bloat of cosmetic DLC to tempt anyone to waste more.
I was a KS backer for the switch, during COVID I asked if I could switch my keys to Steam and they refused. Now I find out the two copies I bought that are trapped on switch may never get multiplayer. So I basically got scammed
Great. I paid for this game years ago for the Switch version on Kickstarter. I bought 2 keys one for me and one for a friend so we could play multiplayer together. I'm still waiting on my keys for the game.
As someone who plays primarily on steam deck, I can see now it wasn't just me struggling with the built in controller support they provide now. I realize the only thing making it more 'playable' for me is being able to remap actions/templates and even then its still a bit wonkey. Overall I have been enjoying the game (Steam version) for the past year or so, having bought it at early access and having to take a long break from it since it seemed so bare bones and missed core features. I came back to it several months later and was pleasantly surprised with the updates, but the amount of DLC (and the pricing for it) really gave me some warning signs. I was actually excited to maybe have this running on switch now, but good to know its not worth it at this point. That 40 dollar price tag was def a shocker too!
I do love the game but it s so overwhelming it also makes no sense as to why they didn't give the player an option for pointy ears even if you are an elf, then they announced 25 dlcs
Aww bummer! I was so hyped to play Sun Haven on switch! Thank you for your informed video. I hope it causes waves and the developers will get things resolved quickly. Cheers and best wishes!
I’m a kickstarter backer and the lack of communication and overall product we’ve gotten is really disappointing. Same thing with Coral Island. I will never be backing any games ever again after this experience 😢
@@midgenya9479 Was it just cancelled so they can wait for the Switch 2? Or is it cancelled for any version of the Switch? Cause I can understand the first option so they don't have to potentially re-optimize the game a second time and presumably the Switch 2 will run the game better. The second option would be really disappointing though.
@@annienunyabiz6627 No their switch port was supposed to be done by the publisher (their pc programmer can't even get the pc version right and it's riddled with bugs dating back since EA....) but their publisher went bankrupt so now they can't port it to switch anymore. While this isn't exactly their fault, I still don't like the way they handled it. Instead of hiring some people to port they just decided to fk their switch backers over. lol.
The only games I back are from Pathea- The My Time At series. They are pretty good on their promises. It may take longer to get stuff done but they do everything they set out to do 100%. I have been disappointed with Coral Island as well.
i'm glad i saw your video before i grabbed it on switch! i hope this will be fixed soon. i feel really bad for everyone who has been waiting for it to release on the switch. it seems like a lot of my favorite cozy games on steam are cursed when it comes to the switch port (looking at you my time series and coral island)
Cassette Beasts is another pixel game on Switch and while the game is really good - the load times are frequent and jarring. Not as long as this but yea - other games you would expect would be easy to run are causing problems. It crashes too but not nearly as often as this does.
@@Nesdude42 I play CB on my computer, I think it's just like that. The game needs to load areas pretty frequently and it usually takes a few seconds. Love the game though.
what's with the running theme of the console ports of these farm sims being complete disasters?? first sunnyside (which is at least in a better state than this and isn't even the fault of the devs, it's their publisher's fault) and now this 💀
@@AlexDayz some people experienced massive stuttering and lag issues, and some didn't - I personally never did, but because a good portion of people did have issues with RF5 on the Switch, that's kind of what it has been known for since release
9:46 funny that an ad about cat food popped up just before your Kitty glitch segment. Thanks very much for making this video, I also have over 100 hours on this game in PC and was going to buy it for me and my sister to play since she doesn't have a good PC for Steam, very disappointed that we can't play this for a while longer.
I've been behind on games but have been wanting to give Luma Island or Sun Haven a try due to the multiplayer possibilities and with the Steam Fall Sale going on. I'm really glad I watched this video before following through. I would have loved to support an indie developer but the Switch release and things you mentioned about the studio's past decisions of the PC version are making me question it. I might just check out Luma Island or another life sim instead.
After struggling with the wait time for switch games and how the games always come out on steam first, I eventually invested into getting the Steam Deck and I do not regret it. I was originally a switch customer for Sun Haven, but after the deck purchase, I got my game switched for Steam and it was great. Now, seeing how bad the switch version was, I am relieved with my choice.
These types of bugs and visual things happened early on for me on steam aswell after 36 or so hours of playing my house disappeared and I could no longer save basically ruining all of my progress. Idk if it's fixed now but that took it out of me wanting to play it again ;(
Oh WOW Josh! Thank you so much for a comprehensive, honest review! Luckily I quit using my switch when I realized ALL games are better on the pc. I now own a PC and a Steam Deck and I never use my Switch except for when I play a Nintendo specific game that I couldn’t play otherwise. I’m so grateful that you have put this out there for those players who only have a Switch! Shame on that company for putting this out in this horrendous state. 🤦🏻♀
It saddens me deeply to see how this has gone for Sun Haven, and honestly so much else since I last played. I put in a ton of hours on PC and fell absolutely in love with it, but since completing the game and moving on to other titles I haven't heard great things. Namely the complaints about DLC this and DLC that, which I only recently actually looked into and was shocked by (it reminded/reminds me of games like TheHunter: Call of the Wild and House Flipper, Sims, etc, where DLC after DLC is the name of the game). Now this? This is unacceptably bad. The unwillingness to add credits is also suspect to me. I really hope they do end up coming around towards the right path/right side of things, because the game itself is wonderful when done right. For now, though, what a bittersweet opinion I must hold.
Sun Haven has been on my wishlist on Steam for years and years. But I never have gotten it, because every time I look at the reviews, people are complaining about them not fixing essential, long standing problems. Based on that, I HIGHLY doubt multiplayer will ever come out for the Switch. If somehow it does, I expect that it will be riddled with problems as well.
i am really thankful for all the honest reviews... makes me avoid a lot of spendings that would have led me to be disappointed. A lot of disappointing games are releasing rn... it's so bad
I wast just watching your full live stream playing it. I played Sun Haven until the fall of the first year, and I remember on Steam the beginning of the game is also quite boring because it's slow, but then it gets really cool when you gather enough mana to move around the scenario faster. I didn't find a way to get a mount cheaply, and I didn't feel motivated to look for it because there's so much information and stores with different things spread around the initial map that it's overwhelming. I really like how the NPCs have several different dialogues and even ask you questions, it increases the immersion a lot this time, but I had to play in English because the translation is impossible to understand sometimes. There was a controversy about them asking the players themselves to translate for free instead of using all the money they made with all those DLCs to hire real translators. Seriously, they sell the game with all those translations but most of them are very difficult to understand. Aside from that, for me, this game has almost infinite content. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a lot of time to spare because at the beginning everything is very slow, but it gets a lot better over time.
There is absolutely NO REASON why the game should run poorly on the switch, other than really crappy coding. It should not be taxing on the system whatsoever. As someone who's been playing the game since it came out, it does annoy me that the development team spent more time on an irritating new company animation logo than fix some really irritating bugs or roll out some QOL updates.
So apparently the devs made an announcement that they’re aware of the issues, it just will take longer to fix on the switch due to Nintendo’s policies. So we should get a fix on this soon
sadly the devs got a track record of bad bugs sience a long while ago nothing they ever cook coomes out right at the start and it still kina werid to this day
I was so looking forward to playing this on the switch. Ended up crashing on me twice after I had almost completed a full day. Hopefully they patch soon because I really enjoyed the game.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been looking forward to SH coming to the switch, but now I know to wait until some of these issues are fixed. The constant crashes and the controllers not working properly is not acceptable for a game consumers have to pay $30+ for.
I tried the PC version and I would have loved to give it back. I really think it's clunky and more flavour text than actually a good rounded experience.
Since I can only play this game on switch i got it despite the crashes and I'm really enjoying it so far. At first I was relying on the auto save but when it crashed i lost a whole days progress. So now I just save and exit about every 30 min and haven't had a problem. Also when I do that it teleports me back home if I'm far away at night :)
Jesus christ just when I didn't think this studio could get any worse they just. keep. going!! Every patch, every update is some new awful thing and this is just. I don't know I've run out of words for this absolute circus of a studio I can barely believe this
I was really excited to play this game, especially since I like games that are exactly like this so like Stardew valley, Roots of Pacha and Potion Permit so I bought it as soon as I could, and it just constantly does that glitch and shuts down on me like every 15 to 20 minutes for me so it’ll shut down when I’m in the middle of a day and just it frustrates me at this point so I’m gonna stop playing it until the update the game and all the clunky interface glitches it has drives me crazy. I really hope they fix it soon
Honestly I was worried how it would run on Switch because while it's a pixel art game, there's three farms, so many towns, and loaded with content to the point where it might as well be like a 3d port to the Switch lol. At least it looks decent on Switch, it will take a long time before it runs decent on Switch I think. The price tag seems to be a future phys release thing because $40 is normal indie phys game cost otherwise I feel like it should have been $25-30. I remember the controller for steam deck a few months ago were still kinda scuffed, not sure if they ever fixed that but it amazes me how long controller support was neglected for this type of game
I bought this on Steam (PC) and tried to get it to work three different times. I couldn’t even till the soil properly and it crashed a couple of times. I finally got angry and asked Steam for a refund, but apparently all that trying to get things to work took too long, so no refund. I don’t understand how it works for some people but on mu bog-standard PC, it was a disaster. It doesn’t surprise me at all that this is its state on Switch.
... Thanks for the warning! Your videos are always so in-depth and answer a lot of questions I have without me having to ask them. I too am sad and really hope they manage to patch everything. This is a really fun game! But for now, I'll just stick to the PC version. When I hear things have improved I'll probably buy this version eventually. Especially (or exclusively) if they come out with multiplayer for it! Great video as always, thank you again.
Ironically this game is not perfectly optimized on PC too despite being a pixel game (I think they didn’t hear of the trick of limited moving sprites vs background image making it easier for the game to load), so porting it to Switch really must have been a tall order, especially if those responsible for the port aren’t well compensated. And I wonder if since the premiere of Swich 2 is soon, was the port made with it in mind rather than the old Switch? This kind of happened with the 3DS where games made specifically for New 3DS ran pretty poorly on the normal 3DS. Such a shame either way though, this game is great, even despite the shady devs.
100$ for DLC?! BRO... no i am not gonna support that hell no. i am glad you made this video, also the commenter who mentioned how these people are extremely shady, they need to be checked out by the police, that is not normal thing for customers/members for the games group to even state ☠️. furthermore... i will wait for a patch if it ever releases and if they even respond to the legit bug issues instead of sniffing money like doped up people on a feeding frenzy.. does that make sense? lol but yea .... this is sad i honestly wanted to fully try it out because my laptop couldnt run it but after waiting for so long.. its gross..this is not right.
You don't HAVE to buy the dlc. They are just cosmetic items you can buy if you want something extra fancy and they don't affect gameplay at all. There's nothing wrong with them releasing dlc for if you want to support them and also get some cool looking items in return. You are not meant to buy them all. Just the packs that suit your style.
@fiercediva135 that still does not change the fact that they shouldn't be a thing, it should be free since people supported /bought these peoples game already which i disagree with this being titled as dlc when it looks more aggressively like. microtransaction, now, if it were a normal dlc pack than fine sure but if it gets to this level its greedy and microtransaction territory. the last time i played my 3ds games to ps4 ones as well. cosmetics weren't seen as charged dlc rather free cosmetics to thank the customers for buying the developers game. I already know that there were dlc where they pushed cosmetics as payment back than, and again that is not dlc, there just mixing microtransaction tactic into dlc to make it into there own area of definition of what dlc is.. these greedy people are really trying to ruin the definition of dlc and it has always been a non supported corporate tactic they do. What real dlc is, its new stuff being added into a video games for example iceborn dlc from monster hunter world thats a legit dlc. thats worth the money not this.
@@PowerpuffSpiceGirlTechnically things like Iceborne would be an expansion. DLC (Downloadable content) is an accurate term for cosmetic packs, the issue is everyone just calls all add-on content DLC these days whether it's small or big. Microtransactions tend to refer to things you can buy in the game itself with real money. Even though the externally bought cosmetic packs are essentially the same thing.
@@JakXT Okay.. but its considered dlc..i have no idea where you got your information from but its inaccurate. an expansion is dlc... 🫠... no it isn't it has never been, because if that were the case than the dlc that i have had for my consoles would be strictly, going based off your own opinion here, cosmetics only. Which is wrong because microtransaction are that 100% of the time, bringing in items stuff that shouldn't be microtransaction at all nor sold seperately at all, into microtransaction when it should have been in the game to begin with your wrong. no, itis not smh ☠️ you cannot compare dlc an expansion that is new to the game itself whether it be; story, new chapters and quests, new dialogue for the character as well, custences that is essentially what dlcs bring in alot of content just like dark souls does to microtransaction... please dont blur the real definition of two things that are clearly different from each other. dlc is not microtransaction.
It seems like every game that comes first on steam is a complete mess on the switch port, i dunno why, its sad because the switch is a good handheld but if everything is bugged i stick to steam and use my steamdeck.
Josh! Thanks so much for making a video about this! I was about to buy this on my Switch instead of my Mac, but thanks to you, I dodged a bullet and will get it on my computer once I make space 😅 tysm!!
I honestly was so surprised they even went to switch. I play it on pc with controller, and it does not get better. I never got used to the hit box changing to some random locations within a 9 box radius as you fight the controls to stay where you want it. Its pretty bad in combat. Many crops and decorations suffer xD
This is sad. I think this game overall is just not very optimized. It loads slower even on PC comparing to my other pixel farming games (even slower than some of the 3D games tbh). But it is really fun and has lots of cool contents that are not found anywhere else. I really wish it is better put together because I definitely love it.
I love Sun Haven on PC, and was so excited when it was finally on Switch. I mostly play on my switch because it’s easier for me. I’m going to wait til some patches come through, though. $30 for a game that can crash that much seems and a bit buggy steep.
This is really sad. My mom loves stardew and I would've recommended this to her since she has a switch lite and I did enjoy it on PC, but looks like it would be a bad idea 💔
This is such a shame. This is such a fun and unique game but somehow they always manage to mess things up in one or the other way. They should just have pushed back the Switch release date despite the pressure. Now no one is happy and it looks bad once again for the devs.
Had no idea a Switch version was coming out. If I had known before I bought the Steam release, I probably would have waited... I'm really, *really* glad I didn't know a Switch version was coming. The bugs and crashes reminds me of My Time in Portia on the Switch. Just so disappointing...
This really really sucks. I tried to play Sun Haven on my pc a little while ago and I was really looking forward to it. Had it crash doing the intro, so didn't see the full thing, but I kept playing. Within an hour's time it crashed on me 3 more times and I gave up, had it refunded. So when I heard it was going to Switch I was hopeful that I'd finally get to play this game I'd been hearing that everyone loved so much, but I guess I'll just never get to play it now that I know it's just as buggy as what I experienced before. Makes me sad cause it really does look like fun.
This is really sad. I've been waiting for it to come to Switch for forever. I tried playing it on PC, but its controller support felt glitchy. I was really hoping the Switch would feel better playing with a controller.

As a switch backer from 2021, I have no words...
Ugh… I feel for my switch friends. I waited so long to play this and finally picked up a steam deck this last summer. I just don’t understand why games are released in this state.
I am so glad I gave in and got a steam deck, really don't know why I stuck with the switch for as long as I did.
Because publishers know most people won't refund a broken game. They'll wait for a patch and end up keeping the game so long they'll be outside of their refund window.
@@FREDERICKEUSEBIO-d3q No refunds on switch.
Typical "good guy" Nintendo.
Oh you were not kidding that it was worth giving the video my full attention for that Kitty segment.
You can contact Nintendo and ask for a refund if you're dissatisfied. Tell them game performance is crap and you can't play it on the switch.
Really disappointing that this version is so bad, but enjoyed your review. xD "We all need a crash every now and then." SAME.
not gonna lie, after the shady stuff around the lying and lack of credits and price difference, it feels like they took one look at the eShop "No Refunds Ever For Any Reason" policy and went "heck yeah!"
and this is why we use steam, everyone. heck, even other consoles will refund if the game is broken enough, and I can't see that mess and constant crashing not being enough of an example to get one. except then Nintendo might have to refund their own buggy tech demos masquerading as entries in building-dollar game series.
I was so frustrated by the delay for EU regions. Turns out that was a blessing in disguise!
Yikes... I don't know how this passed initial quality control to even make it onto the switch store.
That’s cause there is no control? The eshop lets buggy, crappy games in all the time.
Love that you recorded your trip to Glitch City!
WOW....they did NOT test it at all. The final product is a perfect showing that they did not even play test it.
Was so excited but so many DLC is a red flag
Straight up cash grab from the devs.
Everyone, please don’t buy this game until they properly credit those who worked on this!
I was a KS backer for the switch, during COVID I asked if I could switch my keys to Steam and they refused. Now I find out the two copies I bought that are trapped on switch may never get multiplayer. So I basically got scammed
fields of mistria rise up
" Those zooms are really struggling " had me dying LMAOOO
Aww bummer! I was so hyped to play Sun Haven on switch! Thank you for your informed video. I hope it causes waves and the developers will get things resolved quickly. Cheers and best wishes!
Next up! Pixel Sprout Studios copyright takedowns Josh's Gaming Garden video on Sun Haven to suppress negative reviews! More at 11.
I’m a kickstarter backer and the lack of communication and overall product we’ve gotten is really disappointing. Same thing with Coral Island. I will never be backing any games ever again after this experience 😢
What's going on with Coral Island? I haven't heard any drama with that game
@@signofthecrimes1534 The switch port was cancelled, for now at least. But yeah🤕
9:31 I was listening to the video in the background... And what a surprise when i looked 💀
i'm glad i saw your video before i grabbed it on switch! i hope this will be fixed soon. i feel really bad for everyone who has been waiting for it to release on the switch. it seems like a lot of my favorite cozy games on steam are cursed when it comes to the switch port (looking at you my time series and coral island)
I know the Switch isn’t a power house but it ought to be able to run a pixel game.
oh believe me it's not the switch's fault!
This is definitely not the switches fault LMAO. The switch sucks but it's not THAT bad. This is beyond pure laziness
Love the game though.
what's with the running theme of the console ports of these farm sims being complete disasters?? first sunnyside (which is at least in a better state than this and isn't even the fault of the devs, it's their publisher's fault) and now this 💀
Don't forget the release of Rune Factory 5 on the Switch...
@@Mechonyo Rune Factory 5 runs fine on Switch though?

it's so ridiculous that games will price higher on switch AND they don't run properly. i gave up on the switch and bought a steam deck. zero regrets.
I have the game on pc and have been waiting for it to come to switch for so long ughhhh
This video came at the right time because I had full intention of getting Sun Haven for the switch later this week. bless you for the video!
I quite enjoyed Luma Island for the few hours I played of it. It’s very unique! 😊
I lowkey expected the port to be bad because of the track record they have on the pc version but lmao. They REALLY didn't give a sh*t huh....
Ending the video with the Switch crash made me giggle
Sun Haven has been on my wishlist on Steam for years and years. But I never have gotten it, because every time I look at the reviews, people are complaining about them not fixing essential, long standing problems. Based on that, I HIGHLY doubt multiplayer will ever come out for the Switch. If somehow it does, I expect that it will be riddled with problems as well.
Just start playing on pc and it is genuinely such a fun game with a cozy laidback atmosphere~ i am SO relieved i didnt play it on switch instead 😅
maybe it was a blessing in disguise coral island cancelled their plan to port to the switch lol
*9:22** You payed money to this...*
Im hope all these fans are happy. Ill stick with stardew and harvest moon, thank you very much.
i am really thankful for all the honest reviews... makes me avoid a lot of spendings that would have led me to be disappointed. A lot of disappointing games are releasing rn... it's so bad
Time to put this back in the oven. I was excited to see this in the Nintendo shop but I’m so glad I came across your video before I got it.
So we should get a fix on this soon
sadly the devs got a track record of bad bugs sience a long while ago nothing they ever cook coomes out right at the start and it still kina werid to this day
Putting the blame for this on Nintendo is wiiiiild. Let me guess, they never worked with anything but steam in the past?
@@lengarion that seems to be the case.
I was so looking forward to playing this on the switch. Ended up crashing on me twice after I had almost completed a full day. Hopefully they patch soon because I really enjoyed the game.
Noooo I'm devastated! I was really looking forward to it....
I really think it's clunky and more flavour text than actually a good rounded experience.
what a bummer, really hope they get this fixed soon
It's sketchy that they went full steam ahead on a switch port when the game is still practically unplayable on a docked steam deck with a controller.
Thanks for the review. I'll wait for updates or a sale since I'm still playing wylde flowers for the 2nd time.
Oh no no no….
Im just going to stick with moonstone island and stardew valley. So many good games out there that dont crash.
100$ for DLC?! BRO... no i am not gonna support that hell no. i am glad you made this video, also the commenter who mentioned how these people are extremely shady, they need to be checked out by the police, that is not normal thing for customers/members for the games group to even state ☠️.
furthermore... i will wait for a patch if it ever releases and if they even respond to the legit bug issues instead of sniffing money like doped up people on a feeding frenzy.. does that make sense? lol but yea
.... this is sad i honestly wanted to fully try it out because my laptop couldnt run it but after waiting for so long.. its gross..this is not right.
Which is wrong because microtransaction are that 100% of the time, bringing in items stuff that shouldn't be microtransaction at all nor sold seperately at all, into microtransaction when it should have been in the game to begin with
your wrong.
no, itis not smh ☠️ you cannot compare dlc an expansion that is new to the game itself whether it be; story, new chapters and quests, new dialogue for the character as well, custences that is essentially what dlcs bring in alot of content just like dark souls does to microtransaction...
please dont blur the real definition of two things that are clearly different from each other. dlc is not microtransaction.
@@JakXTExpansions are a specific type of DownLoadable Content.

It seems like every game that comes first on steam is a complete mess on the switch port, i dunno why, its sad because the switch is a good handheld but if everything is bugged i stick to steam and use my steamdeck.
I really appreciate your honest opinion Josh.
i've had tons of fun with sun haven but i have a bunch of weird quirks in my play style just to prevent crashes
Josh! Thanks so much for making a video about this! I was about to buy this on my Switch instead of my Mac, but thanks to you, I dodged a bullet and will get it on my computer once I make space 😅 tysm!!
If updates make this better, I would love to know. At least this game seems better then orange season.
Good review. Was considering but I'm gonna wait for updates. 👍
The crash sound at the very end! 😭
Was just about this thank you for this! I only have switch so finding good indie games is hard most are on steam
They have literally just ported over the bad controller support from steam to switch. Such a shame because I LOVE this game so much!
How sad. I truly enjoyed sun haven for pc
this is so sad, i’ve been waiting forever for this game on switch. glad i saw this b4 buying
How can they even allow a game in this state to be sold on the Switch store??
"No refund policy"? But yeah, it does not exactly serve as a benefit to the platform over, say, a Steam Deck.
This is so disappointing. But your reviews never disappoint! Thanks for reviewing so I can avoid buying this game on switch.
This is really sad. I've been waiting for it to come to Switch for forever. I tried playing it on PC, but its controller support felt glitchy. I was really hoping the Switch would feel better playing with a controller.
