Wild Seasons was the worst scam ever... was kickstarted, humble sold, and such and the dev just vanished... we've been trying to get steam to delist it for years at this point
They had a planned PS4 release, it was even advertised by the publisher in one of their other games on PS4. That's how I learned about the game. They used to have dev live streams on RUclips too. At first they advertised you could also marry any character regardless of gender, then they changed their minds and only let you marry some of them. lol

I was one of the early backers, at the time it felt like there was a lull in the farming sim scene ("cozy games" wouldn't even be a term for years), stardew valley wasn't out yet, and the devs SEEMED very open and communicative with the community. I even just searched "wild season quickfire games" on youtube and their channel is still up with all the podcast episodes where they were talking about the development process. TBH I still think the hook about ending up in one of those cozy farm sim small towns but they're very suspicious and uneasy of you at first is a pretty neat idea and I still want to know how it would've played out. when they suddenly made a statement that the game was going to become episodic people were pissed, then the actual 'episode 1' released and things got worse, and then as far as i know all the quickfire games accounts were ghosted. there's probably more story out there somewhere, some years ago I tried to look through their accounts again and some twitter statistics bot had taken over their twitter account for months. any time a friend sees that game in my account and asks about it I just have to respond with nervous laughter.... oh, wild season. one of my clearest memories of that game is going into some sort of beach area and walking right until i can see the edge of the terrain and solid black beyond it. that was the moment I realized there was no hope left for that game.

Josh, just to let you and anybody else watching the video who aren't aware know... the three cat girls shown in your gameplay of Farm Debt Repay Life are stolen from a fairly well-known Japanese eroge Nekopara. Lolas is Azuki, Gothilia is Cinnamon, and Lily is Maple 😭
The first one has an arrow before words to imply it’s a narrator but that doesn’t really help much especially if you don’t know what that means nor notice it. It’s even worse since the player character’s portrait shows up during this so makes them look lazy by putting it in the player’s talking box. Also fun fact Farm Debt Repay Life is copyright infringement, those three girls are from a visual novel series about the main character running a pastry shop with his sister & their pet cat girls joining in. Lotas is Azuki the munchkin cat(also the oldest of the cats), Gothilia/Godzilla is Cinnamon the scottish fold, Lily is Maple the American Curl.
Exactly. Why put the character portrait and name if it's a narrator? There are actually a few instances where the portrait is not there. It's very inconsistent. I had no idea about the cat girls, but a lot of people are pointing it out! 😲

I'm working on making a narrative puzzle game (some VN style, some 2.5d), but I still like videos like these because it's a good "what NOT to do" sort of thing.
the debt game looks like stardew valley, sun haven, roots of pacha and traveller's rest had a really fucked up lovechild (looks like stolen assets, there's an uncanny resemblance to some of the items in each game)
Thank you for suffering for us, Josh! I'd be interested in a part 2. When I looked at Wild Season on Steam I didn't see an option to buy it, strange. One of the worst games I played lately was Spellfarers, a free to play cozy MMO type game similar to Palia. But the controls were pretty bad...among other things.😅
I love how logical your explanations on how each game could improve! Bizarre how they charge so much for these when they clearly aren't ready. I hope their devs see this video!! And looking forward to more!!
One funny thing about the first game, at 4:19 you talk about bad scrolling. I'm currently playing the latest title of simply the biggest company in the genre, and even thou it is supposedly a pc game, there is no scrolling at all.... You can only drag the inventory or the scroll bar.... This is one of the most frustrating things in RF5, lol
Wild Season was dropped. I did back the game.... They abandoned it, sadly, and never released the entire thing, just a partial game. Honestly I don't understand how/why it wasn't pulled from the Steam storefront... I would gladly give you access to more info, sadly the dev posted Kickstarter updates that you could only read on their now (dead) website.
Oh wow the catgirls from farm dbet repay life are stolen assets 😂😭 Literally Cinnamon, Azuki, and Maple from Nekopara (not a farming sim, look up at your own risk)
yay!!! i'm so glad you made this video. it's always so much fun to watch you review those disasters LOL it's my favorite type of video i had a very difficult week and my depression was kicking my butt and making me reconsider being on this planet, so thank you Josh for always posting amazing content. i'm sure everybody would love to see more of this type of video!!
The absolute audacity of Wild Season to copy the map from FoMT on top of everything else! It may not be a 1:1 recreation, but I noticed the uncanny similarity as soon so you started walking around the farm. 🙃
it's interesting how stark the difference in presentation is in poorly made farming games before and after stardew valley hit it big. truly a game that revolutionised the genre.
@@brittanyxxbabyxx2186 It does help with people learning about developing, same can be applied to all arts. But then there is a point where the flaws are so obvious, if you can't see them, you should never contribute to that art form yourself (Big rigs comes to mind).

I never comment on anything but this video was so funny that I have to "recommend" two very bad games for you to waste more of your sanity on. First is "Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island," as far as I know it's only available on Switch, but it's a terrible Animal Crossing clone with bad controls and game mechanics. I wanted to enjoy this game -- really, I did -- but even the "pretty princess" veneer wasn't enough to make me want to play more. Second is "Brookhaven Grimoire," a game that has so many problems I don't know where to start. Aside from looking like it stole assets straight from Stardew Valley, it has enough mechanical issues to render it unplayable, the story hook starts intriguing and goes right into "disturbing," and on top of everything else, it has been abandoned by the dev. Honestly I felt so bad about buying this game that I uninstalled it and hid it on my games library. If you review either of these games (or both? haha /jk but what if), I would be both elated and VERY sympathetic for what you'd have to go through.
Hey Josh, long time casual viewer. Like you, I got my finger on the pulse of farming sims (first was Harvest Moon 3 on GBC). Keep this up: the farming game niche is exploding, and I've been scammed so many times on promising looking games by this point I could probably fund the development of my own
The wild seasons mayor looks exactly like harvest moon / story of season's mayor Thomas 😂 it feels like it's trying very hard to be an old harvest moon game
Oh gosh this is gonna be a ton of disasters isnt it.... Edit: the repay debt mechanic in the last game is interesting. Too bad it's not super polished as a game.
Wild Season was such a scam. They started as early access and once they earned money from a kickstarter and early purchases they just ghosted everyone. Still upset about the $20 or so that I will never get back. It's why I'm so hesitant to buy early access games nowadays unless I've heard REALLY good things and the devs are transparent and active.
I can't believe how hard this video made me laugh. The first time I lost it is Josh's deadpan delivery of "here they're walking much faster without even having to go diagonally." The worst farming game I've played is called World's Dawn. Much like these it barely worked and was not fun. The map design was horrible, the controls felt unresponsive, and lots of things did not make sense. It might have improved since I played it since it has a "very positive" rating on Steam now.
The option to just sell the farm and have the game end is absolutely hilarious, especially since it's clearly the superior choice 😂 Tbh, the whole review was hilarious, your sarcasm is just great 😂
Did you set timers so you could refund the games if they were bad? 10+ bucks is not a small amount of money. Lamu seems like a partly skeleton of what can be a good game, but it also shouldn't be in early access yet (or it should be free). It's almost like this is their way to raise money to develop the game and it's just the start instead of something far enough along for play testing (so early access).
Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is just about the most disappointing game I've ever played. It doesn't really get bad till the end, where the quests you need to level up your students reasonably have just all disappeared and the story progression stops because you can't level up your newer students! It's like it punishes you for doing the thing that increases your school's reputation, which is graduating the damn students. It was especially frustrating because it was a game I wanted to like, I had played Valthirian Arc on Kongregate a long time ago and had a good time, and didn't remember that previous game having the same sort of frustrating progression issues late game that this one had.
That Wild Season sure reminds me of Harvest Moon BTN. Lamu really looks like an Early Access game. I guess for the last game, the naming was messed up when they translated it into English. The Wild Season looked promosing and probably would have been a nice game after some polishing, but it was abandoned. Too bad.
i actually noticed that in "Farm Dbet Repay Life" the cat girls are stolen from a visual novel called Nekopara! They just made pixel versions of the characters and slightly changed them for their game! Their names are all different, but im so confused on why they didn't just make their own cat girls 🤣

I have so much respect you played so much of that first game, it looks terrible! Looks like the developers not put love into that one, and selling it for 19 dollars is crazy!
As a pokemon fan, Nexomon somehow manages to be even easier and more dumbed down than gen 1-2 pokemon. However I give the prize for worse pokemonlike to TemTem. Ridiculous economy, needless mmo mechanics, increasingly expensive "micro" transactions, charging players $5 for a single use dye. That third one definitely seems like it has the most potential...if it was Early Access. As a full release though, it definitely deserves to be here. Still better than the other two -- ESPECIALLY Lamu, but that's a low bar

A Nekopara farming sim sounds pretty cool...wait wtf do you mean "Lotas" and "Gothilia"?
One funny thing about the first game, at 4:19 you talk about bad scrolling. I'm currently playing the latest title of simply the biggest company in the genre, and even thou it is supposedly a pc game, there is no scrolling at all.... You can only drag the inventory or the scroll bar.... This is one of the most frustrating things in RF5, lol
Toilet paper rolls above the doors make sense... they're cats, probably scratch at them
Lamu's characters are just from Nekopara, an entirely different property that they don't own.
Steam probably doesn’t pull games because they still get a hefty cut of the game cost.
Oh wow the catgirls from farm dbet repay life are stolen assets 😂😭
Literally Cinnamon, Azuki, and Maple from Nekopara (not a farming sim, look up at your own risk)
I laughed way too much watching the lamu section. Thank you Josh for putting yourself through this
yay!!! i'm so glad you made this video.
it's always so much fun to watch you review those disasters LOL it's my favorite type of video
i had a very difficult week and my depression was kicking my butt and making me reconsider being on this planet, so thank you Josh for always posting amazing content.
i'm sure everybody would love to see more of this type of video!!
The absolute audacity of Wild Season to copy the map from FoMT on top of everything else! It may not be a 1:1 recreation, but I noticed the uncanny similarity as soon so you started walking around the farm. 🙃
I was thinking THE SAME THING!
What’s fomt?

it's interesting how stark the difference in presentation is in poorly made farming games before and after stardew valley hit it big. truly a game that revolutionised the genre.
I love constructive criticism with actual helpful ways to improve the game.
Most of these are shovelware. The devs have no intention of improving the game, they just want a quick buck
@@catsplat1272 I know but it’s nice to point out all the flaws in detail instead of just saying “oh it looks bad. It’s bland it’s boring” ect
@@brittanyxxbabyxx2186 It does help with people learning about developing, same can be applied to all arts.
But then there is a point where the flaws are so obvious, if you can't see them, you should never contribute to that art form yourself (Big rigs comes to mind).
red X as next button gives me physical pain. I wonder if there's some buggery going on that shunts the coordinates and graphics for the buttons to weird places and/or overlap
Keep this up: the farming game niche is exploding, and I've been scammed so many times on promising looking games by this point I could probably fund the development of my own
Adding my like for part 2! More please!
The wild seasons mayor looks exactly like harvest moon / story of season's mayor Thomas 😂 it feels like it's trying very hard to be an old harvest moon game
Raise your hand if you were a victim of Wild Seasons ✋
*Was one of the backers 😭
"nothing against facelifts"
20:50 what an interesting decoration style 😂🧻
Wild season is def an rpg maker game lol
Yepp, thought so too.
In Lamu the bat doesn't kill you, it's actually rabies slowly cutting your health.
Oh gosh this is gonna be a ton of disasters isnt it....
Edit: the repay debt mechanic in the last game is interesting. Too bad it's not super polished as a game.
I feel your pain Josh- I think the worst farming game I played was Big Farm Story. I don't mind grinding in a game, but this was just stupid LOL
Lolllll the toilet paper roll lamps 😂😂😂😂😂
I love that the fact that they sometimes translate Gothilia as Godzilla.
I can't believe how hard this video made me laugh. The first time I lost it is Josh's deadpan delivery of "here they're walking much faster without even having to go diagonally."
The worst farming game I've played is called World's Dawn. Much like these it barely worked and was not fun. The map design was horrible, the controls felt unresponsive, and lots of things did not make sense. It might have improved since I played it since it has a "very positive" rating on Steam now.
The option to just sell the farm and have the game end is absolutely hilarious, especially since it's clearly the superior choice 😂
Tbh, the whole review was hilarious, your sarcasm is just great 😂
There's no need to do a part two. Bless you, Josh 🤣
This is basically a battle of how many features are working for the amount paid😂
Got me laughing at "helllllo with 5 Ls" 😂
Did you set timers so you could refund the games if they were bad? 10+ bucks is not a small amount of money.
Lamu seems like a partly skeleton of what can be a good game, but it also shouldn't be in early access yet (or it should be free). It's almost like this is their way to raise money to develop the game and it's just the start instead of something far enough along for play testing (so early access).
I absolutely want to see more videos like this lol. Though, I'm sorry for the anguish this must cause you...
Definitely would be interested in more of these videos!
That Wild Season sure reminds me of Harvest Moon BTN. Lamu really looks like an Early Access game. I guess for the last game, the naming was messed up when they translated it into English.
The Wild Season looked promosing and probably would have been a nice game after some polishing, but it was abandoned. Too bad.
Supposedly (never got that far in) episode 1 ends with something taking your animals
i actually noticed that in "Farm Dbet Repay Life" the cat girls are stolen from a visual novel called Nekopara! They just made pixel versions of the characters and slightly changed them for their game! Their names are all different, but im so confused on why they didn't just make their own cat girls 🤣
First game looks like made in rpg maker
I was scared my demo would appear in this list lol
you're safe! 😅
Hey that's me! The first review for Lamu xD what a joke of a game
I see we had a very similar experience 😆 I hope you got a refund!
@@JoshGamingGarden I did right away! By the way, money is dropped by killing the bats 🤣 and the bat followed me into my house! I'm saddened by farm debt repay life, I have that for a while but haven't booted it up yet, might not be able to get a refund now. I thought they seemed similar but never made the connection
16:14 reminds me a lot of the Perfection "end" of Stardew Valley.
Fellow Qc! Just found your channel and enjoyed this video a lot!
Loool I hope you can write these purchases off as business expenses 😂
I have so much respect you played so much of that first game, it looks terrible! Looks like the developers not put love into that one, and selling it for 19 dollars is crazy!
The deadpan humor got me so many times
As a pokemon fan, Nexomon somehow manages to be even easier and more dumbed down than gen 1-2 pokemon. However I give the prize for worse pokemonlike to TemTem. Ridiculous economy, needless mmo mechanics, increasingly expensive "micro" transactions, charging players $5 for a single use dye. Just remember kids it takes skill and tact to pull off making a game out of spite for another game, neither of wich crema had.
I've heard good things about Cassette Beasts as a Poké-alike at least
I think it will be fun if you do this series on stream! If you manage to have fun with the game in 2 hours, you keep it. Otherwise, just get a refund from steam.
Why is the guy in the first game wearing a ghost bandana (Hitaikakushi)? Did he die in the accident? Was that supposed to be a twist?
That third one definitely seems like it has the most potential...if it was Early Access. As a full release though, it definitely deserves to be here. Still better than the other two -- ESPECIALLY Lamu, but that's a low bar
