So innovative, so technologically advanced for the mid 70`s, brilliant showman/entertainer and then you have the main instrument, the VOICE. Never so many gifts bestowed on one human being. Too musically creative to appeal to the masses. The bulk of society will never understand a musical genius like Gino Vanelli.
Peter if you ever read this. I agree 100 percent. I think it was his genius that was his torture. I was 14 years old at the time of this release and was told my taste too advanced for my age as Gino was too advanced for his time. I hope he has peace and found what he was looking for. Much love to the fans and Gino.

When my parents brought me to Canada I was twelve in 1976 and heard this on the car radio driving us to our new home, well I knew this was a country with some talent. Gino is effing magic he’s got groove
I had a friend way back when and when we found out that we both LOVED Gino Vannelli the bond went next level. We'd sit around on a rainy weekend with a bottle of wine and sing his whole discography, gesticulations and all! lol
LOL yes it is! But its everywhere. I remember back in the day Saturday Night Live did a skit with someone as Gino Vannelli performing, every time he turned around he got hairier and hairier until he was a gorilla in tight pants.
People Gotta Move made for Soul Train infact made for everyday life part of life and so many things we gotta keep moving and exercise and that can't stop or freeze.Gino one of the first white guys to play on Soul Train before the Greats of the game Elton John and David Bowie and maybe a few others
i remember the music from the 70s as i was a teen. can you imagine something like this coming on the radio ? it was effortless to hear great music. Message intact, great arrangements, thought provoking lyrics and just a fantastic groove. no nostalgia here, i am recalling without peering through rose colored glasses. the music was just so damn good! all aboard my retro train back to the 70s...keep all shags & afros INSIDE the cabin space while in motion please.
saw them live at la bastille in houston. they were so good live i was in shock. i was playing in a local band at the time (clubs) and our talent level wasnt even close to thiers
The guys hated him because of how beautiful and sexy he was and because of how all the women reacted to him! LOL. In the 70s we had never seen or experienced anyone like him before.
You weren’t the only one! Saw him in concert in the 70s. Front row center seat. My gawd… he was the most beautiful man I’d EVER seen. And he exuded sex!! My jaw dropped and I was forever hooked!
Graham Lear the great on drums! Carlos Santana heard a Gino Vanelli song on the radio while on a flight during his 1975 tour and immediately set about finding a way to steal Graham for his band. He succeeded :) Graham was Santana's driving force behind the kit for 11 years between 1976-1987 before moving on to REO Speedwagon in 1987. Santana was never as good after that.
The keyboard play is Gino Vanelli's brother Frank and NO the keyboqard player did NOT get Gino Vanelli on Soul Train DON Cornelius personally called Ginjo and asked him if he wanted to come on the show, why you lie? Gino said so in an interview that is on RUclips
X-MISMA-X perhaps but the keyboard player is the reason Don Cornelius called . No one is lying it’s my observation. Clearly the baddest dude in the band.
@@hardlines4 indeed...Joe also on keyboards for the great "Brother to Brother" album...Joe, as I'm sure you know but perhaps others on this thread don't know, is a great producer as well including co-producing with founder Emilio Castillo the three album "Tower of Power 50 years of Funk & Soul" live at the Fox Theatre...like Gino T.O.P. still playing great after 50 years
Gino was and still is a very talented, beautiful man! He has aged like fine wine....

This was Gino's first hit in the US...and the *FIRST* AMERICAN TELEVISION SHOW that he appeared on was *SOUL TRAIN* .
It's time for a Gino Vanelli UNSUNG episode.
Saw him in New Orleans in 1979 and still one of the best concerts I have ever seen. His voice is still amazing.
YES I AGREE
Wow, that was an iconic concert for him! You are very fortunate!!
Plus his looks

Best ever soul singer to ever come out of Montreal
Sorry to hear about the passing of his wife in May of this year. RIP, Patricia.
That's my name ❤😮
I remember when he appeared on Soul Train, the first white person to do so. Good choice Mr. Cornelius.

They probably were jealous
He was the Canadian Tom Jones.
Lord, the man is hotter than hell 🔥
Wonder why is not much more vids of him like this
I was teased mercilessly because of the major school girl crush I had on Vanelli

I wouldn't have teased you, I would have fought you!!
I remember that hair. Gettin' ready for the disco invasion.
Disco Gino. 😂
