      @@jorgemartin5093It sounded deeper and more weathered but certainly not bad. I would even say it lent a certain degree of character to this performance. The original recording sounds like the tender reflections of a young man who has been touched by the love of someone and is thinking about their relationship together. This version makes me think more of a wistful older middle aged man reminiscing about someone from his past when he was younger who may no longer be in his life in one form or another but has undoubtedly had a great impact upon him. His voice sounds rugged at points here but that adds to the notion that he, the man in this song, has been transformed through time and experience. A beautiful song and nice performance by Lake nevertheless even with any differences in his voice.

    This song has been stuck in my head ever since inheriting my late brother’s Stratocaster. I received the guitar just a few days ago. He passed in early December. We never knew each other, I was given up for adoption at birth, yes..I am the oldest of three sons. We were scheduled to all meet last December, but mental illness robbed us of that chance. The one thing that ran through all three of us, was the love of playing guitar. To my late brother David, and to Sean who I finally met in Oakland last Tuesday, I love you both, and barely know either, but our love for the guitar will always bring us closer..From The Beginning. RIP Greg..RIP David Lampton.

      @@rc1564 He made me think exetentiayly, in much the same way many great books do. And as a 13 teen year old at the time, I found his lyrics were thought provoking and a breath of fresh air to the likes of ‘Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree…. ‘ or Mouldy old dough and the other banal rubbish that blasted insensately from most radio stations. So, if you are looking for a specific example, lets take a lyric from this track here “From the beginning”. Quote: “You were meant to be here… from the beginning”. Now I don’t know about you, but that lyric in itself is though provoking for anyone studying philosophy, let alone a 13 year old. I hope that satisfies your curiosity implied by your question.

    Today's music just cannot do what this music did. There was something truly mind expanding and communal about it. Perhaps it was the nature of the kind of drugs popular then. Today's music and drugs are all about "me, myself and mine". I wonder if the music of those golden moments between 67 and 74 will ever repeat in the future. I understsand it was all a byproduct of the times. The social-revolution. The youth movement. The war. The evolution of rock and pop music that the world has never seen before, but. I hope that music isn't lost to us forever. A day will come when there will be very few of us who will either beable to recall it or even say they have even heard of it. I only hope that music finds a way to be as expansive and open as the music of that era. Are there any real movements left to be had?

  • @ariacurva
    @ariacurva 3 дня назад

    The piece was written in the key of A minor.
    It is led by an acoustic guitar line with layers of electric guitar (both rhythm and lead) and electric bass, and sung by Greg Lake, with some percussion accompaniment (played by Carl Palmer, with congas and timpani mallets). and a final moog solo by Keith Emerson, accompanied by overdubbed synthesizer sounds.
    This song was originally intended for King Crimson's first album In the Court of the Crimson King (1969), but bandleader Robert Fripp didn't think it would fit into the context of the album.

      Y Greg Lake no solo destacó por su voz o sus líneas de bajo. En la guitarra era un crack, ya sea tocando en la eléctrica (por ejemplo, en la suite de "Karn Evil 9" o en "Tarkus") o en sus sentidas baladas acústicas (por ejemplo, en "C'est la Vie", "Still You Turn me On" o acá).

    Just takes you away and you drift gently between the palms the breeze and mystique.

    I've seen these guys many times live and they have never disappointed me or anyone else that saw them live on those occasions. And they never bang out their tunes by wrote they always leave room for some fine improvisation. True Professionals.

    Shame ELP were not noticed, they were inspirational, way before their time. Gave way to yes,, and their timing, keystrokes, and rhythm changes led to a new class of musicians, that brought out some of the best music. Let's hear Justin Bieber try this.
